   (John 1:1–5; Hebrews 11:1–3)

2. 1FBVIn the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.BSBBSB: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
3. 2FBVThe earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the surface of the deep. The Spirit of God moved over the surface of the waters.BSBBSB: Now the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.

4. The First Day

5. 3FBVGod said, “Let there be light!” and there was light.BSBBSB: And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
6. 4FBVGod saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.BSBBSB: And God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness.
7. 5FBVGod called the light “day,” and he called the darkness “night.” So there was evening, and then the morning, making day one.BSBBSB: God called the light “day,” and the darkness He called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

8. The Second Day

9. 6FBVGod said, “Let there be an expanse in the middle of the waters to divide the waters.”BSBBSB: And God said, “Let there be an expanse between the waters, to separate the waters from the waters.”
10. 7FBVSo God made an expanse to divide the waters that were above from the waters that were below. And that's what happened.BSBBSB: So God made the expanse and separated the waters beneath it from the waters above. And it was so.
11. 8FBVGod called the expanse, “sky.” So there was evening, and then the morning, making day two.BSBBSB: God called the expanse “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.

12. The Third Day

13. 9FBVGod said, “Let the waters below the sky collect together in one place so that the land may appear.” And so it was.BSBBSB: And God said, “Let the waters under the sky be gathered into one place, so that the dry land may appear.” And it was so.
14. 10FBVGod called the land “earth” and the waters “seas.” God saw that it was good.BSBBSB: God called the dry land “earth,” and the gathering of waters He called “seas.” And God saw that it was good.
15. 11FBVGod said, “Let the earth produce vegetation—plants that produce seeds and trees that produce seeded fruit—each one according to its own kind.” And that's what happened.BSBBSB: Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth vegetation: seed-bearing plants and fruit trees, each bearing fruit with seed according to its kind.” And it was so.
16. 12FBVThe earth produced vegetation—plants that produce seeds and trees that produce seeded fruit—each one according to its own kind. God saw that it was good.BSBBSB: The earth produced vegetation: seed-bearing plants according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
17. 13FBVSo there was evening, and then the morning, making day three.BSBBSB: And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.

18. The Fourth Day

19. 14FBVGod said, “Let there be lights in the sky to separate day from night, and to provide a way to mark seasons, days, and years.BSBBSB: And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to distinguish between the day and the night, and let them be signs to mark the seasons and days and years.
20. 15FBVThey shall be lights in the sky to shine on the earth.” And that's what happened.BSBBSB: And let them serve as lights in the expanse of the sky to shine upon the earth.” And it was so.
21. 16FBVGod created two great lights: the larger one in charge of the day, and the smaller one in charge of the night. He created the stars too.BSBBSB: God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night. And He made the stars as well.
22. 17FBVGod placed these lights in the sky to shine upon the earth,BSBBSB: God set these lights in the expanse of the sky to shine upon the earth,
23. 18FBVto be in charge of the day and in charge of the night, and to separate light from darkness. God saw that it was good.BSBBSB: to preside over the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.
24. 19FBVSo there was evening, and then the morning, making day four.BSBBSB: And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.

25. The Fifth Day

26. 20FBVGod said, “Let the waters be full of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the sky.”BSBBSB: And God said, “Let the waters teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the sky.”
27. 21FBVSo God created huge sea creatures and all the living things that swim and fill the waters, each one according to its own kind; and every bird that flies, each one according to its own kind. God saw that it was good.BSBBSB: So God created the great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters teemed according to their kinds, and every winged bird after its kind. And God saw that it was good.
28. 22FBVGod blessed them and said, “Reproduce and increase, and fill the waters of the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.”BSBBSB: Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters of the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”
29. 23FBVSo there was evening, and then the morning, making day five.BSBBSB: And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.

30. The Sixth Day

31. 24FBVGod said, “Let the land produce living creatures, each one according to its own kind—the livestock, the creatures that run along the ground, and the wild animals, each one according to its own kind.” And that's what happened.BSBBSB: And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, land crawlers, and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so.
32. 25FBVGod made the wild animals, the livestock, and the creatures that run along the ground, all according to their own kind. God saw that it was good.BSBBSB: God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that crawls upon the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
33. 26FBVGod said, “Let us make human beings in our image who are like us. They will have authority over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, and over the whole of the earth and every creature that moves on it.”BSBBSB: Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness, to rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, and over all the earth itself and every creature that crawls upon it.”
34. 27FBVSo God created human beings in his own image. He created them in the image of God. He created them male and female.BSBBSB: So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
35. 28FBVGod blessed them and told them, “Reproduce, increase, and spread throughout the earth and control it; exercise authority over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that moves on the earth.”BSBBSB: God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth.”
36. 29FBVGod said, “Look, I'm giving you as your food every seed-bearing plant anywhere on earth, and every tree that produces fruit with seeds.BSBBSB: Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing plant on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit contains seed. They will be yours for food.
37. 30FBVI'm giving all the green plants to all the land animals, to the birds, and to every creature that moves on the earth—to every living thing.” And that's what happened.BSBBSB: And to every beast of the earth and every bird of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth—everything that has the breath of life in it—I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so.
38. 31FBVGod saw everything that he had created, and yes, it was very good. So there was evening, and then the morning, making day six.BSBBSB: And God looked upon all that He had made, and indeed, it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.
