1. 1PR38Ja tapahtui jonkun ajan kuluttua, että Egyptin kuninkaan juomanlaskija ja leipoja rikkoivat herraansa, Egyptin kuningasta, vastaan.BSBBSB: Some time later, the king’s cupbearer and baker offended their master, the king of Egypt.
2. 2PR38Ja farao vihastui näihin kahteen hoviherraansa, ylimmäiseen juomanlaskijaan ja ylimmäiseen leipojaan,BSBBSB: Pharaoh was angry with his two officers, the chief cupbearer and the chief baker,
3. 3PR38ja panetti heidät vankeuteen henkivartijain päämiehen taloon, samaan vankilaan, jossa Joosef oli vankina.BSBBSB: and imprisoned them in the house of the captain of the guard, the same prison where Joseph was confined.
4. 4PR38Ja henkivartijain päämies antoi heille Joosefin heitä palvelemaan. Niin he olivat jonkun aikaa vankeudessa.BSBBSB: The captain of the guard assigned them to Joseph, and he became their personal attendant. After they had been in custody for some time,
5. 5PR38Ollessaan vankilassa vangittuina he molemmat, Egyptin kuninkaan juomanlaskija ja leipoja, näkivät samana yönä unta, kumpikin unensa, ja kummankin unella oli oma selityksensä.BSBBSB: both of these men—the Egyptian king’s cupbearer and baker, who were being held in the prison—had a dream on the same night, and each dream had its own meaning.
6. 6PR38Ja kun Joosef aamulla tuli heidän luokseen, huomasi hän heidät alakuloisiksi.BSBBSB: When Joseph came to them in the morning, he saw that they were distraught.
7. 7PR38Silloin hän kysyi faraon hoviherroilta, jotka olivat hänen kanssansa vankeudessa hänen isäntänsä talossa: "Miksi te olette tänään niin murheellisen näköiset?"BSBBSB: So he asked the officials of Pharaoh who were in custody with him in his master’s house, “Why are your faces so downcast today?”
8. 8PR38He vastasivat hänelle: "Olemme kumpikin nähneet unen, eikä ole niiden selittäjää". Ja Joosef sanoi heille: "Unien selitykset ovat Jumalan; kertokaa kuitenkin minulle".BSBBSB: “We both had dreams,” they replied, “but there is no one to interpret them.” Then Joseph said to them, “Don’t interpretations belong to God? Tell me your dreams.”
9. 9PR38Niin ylimmäinen juomanlaskija kertoi unensa Joosefille ja sanoi hänelle: "Minä näin unta, ja katso, minun edessäni oli viinipuu;BSBBSB: So the chief cupbearer told Joseph his dream: “In my dream there was a vine before me,
10. 10PR38viinipuussa oli kolme oksaa, ja samassa kun se alkoi versoa, sen kukat puhkesivat ja marjat sen rypäleissä kypsyivät.BSBBSB: and on the vine were three branches. As it budded, its blossoms opened and its clusters ripened into grapes.
11. 11PR38Ja minulla oli faraon malja kädessäni, ja minä otin marjat ja pusersin niistä mehun faraon maljaan ja annoin maljan faraon käteen."BSBBSB: Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes, squeezed them into his cup, and placed the cup in his hand.”
12. 12PR38Ja Joosef sanoi hänelle: "Tämä on sen selitys: kolme oksaa merkitsee kolmea päivää.BSBBSB: Joseph replied, “This is the interpretation: The three branches are three days.
13. 13PR38Kolmen päivän kuluttua farao korottaa sinun pääsi ja asettaa sinut jälleen virkaasi. Ja sinä annat faraon maljan hänen käteensä niinkuin ennenkin, kun olit hänen juomanlaskijansa.BSBBSB: Within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore your position. You will put Pharaoh’s cup in his hand, just as you did when you were his cupbearer.
14. 14PR38Mutta muista minua, kun sinun hyvin käy, ja tee minulle laupeus mainitsemalla minusta faraolle ja toimittamalla minut pois tästä talosta.BSBBSB: But when it goes well for you, please remember me and show me kindness by mentioning me to Pharaoh, that he might bring me out of this prison.
15. 15PR38Sillä minut on varastettu hebrealaisten maasta, enkä minä ole täälläkään tehnyt mitään, mistä minut olisi tullut panna tähän vankikuoppaan."BSBBSB: For I was kidnapped from the land of the Hebrews, and even here I have done nothing for which they should have put me in this dungeon.”
16. 16PR38Kun ylimmäinen leipoja näki, että Joosef antoi hyvän selityksen, sanoi hän hänelle: "Myöskin minä näin unen, ja katso, kolme nisuleipäkoria oli minun pääni päällä.BSBBSB: When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was favorable, he said to Joseph, “I too had a dream: There were three baskets of white bread on my head.
17. 17PR38Ja ylimmässä korissa oli kaikenlaisia leivoksia faraon syötäväksi, mutta linnut söivät ne korista, joka oli minun pääni päällä."BSBBSB: In the top basket were all sorts of baked goods for Pharaoh, but the birds were eating them out of the basket on my head.”
18. 18PR38Joosef vastasi ja sanoi: "Tämä on sen selitys: kolme koria merkitsee kolmea päivää.BSBBSB: Joseph replied, “This is the interpretation: The three baskets are three days.
19. 19PR38Kolmen päivän kuluttua farao korottaa sinun pääsi ripustamalla sinut hirsipuuhun, ja taivaan linnut syövät sinun lihasi."BSBBSB: Within three days Pharaoh will lift off your head and hang you on a tree. Then the birds will eat the flesh of your body.”
20. 20PR38Kolmantena päivänä sen jälkeen, faraon syntymäpäivänä, tämä laittoi pidot kaikille palvelijoilleen. Silloin hän korotti palvelijainsa joukosta sekä ylimmäisen juomanlaskijan että ylimmäisen leipojan pään.BSBBSB: On the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, he held a feast for all his officials, and in their presence he lifted up the heads of the chief cupbearer and the chief baker.
21. 21PR38Ylimmäisen juomanlaskijan hän asetti hänen entiseen juomanlaskijan toimeensa, niin että hän sai antaa maljan faraon käteen;BSBBSB: Pharaoh restored the chief cupbearer to his position, so that he once again placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand.
22. 22PR38mutta ylimmäisen leipojan hän hirtätti, niinkuin Joosef oli heille selityksessään sanonut.BSBBSB: But Pharaoh hanged the chief baker, just as Joseph had described to them in his interpretation.
23. 23PR38Mutta ylimmäinen juomanlaskija ei muistanut Joosefia, vaan unhotti hänet.BSBBSB: The chief cupbearer, however, did not remember Joseph; he forgot all about him.
