1Puisque nous sommes justifiés par la foi, nous avons la paix avec Dieu au moyen de notre Seigneur Jésus Christ.Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

2Par lui nous avons aussi accès au moyen de la foi à cette grâce dans laquelle nous sommes. Nous nous rejouissons en la confiance que Dieu nous donne pour le futur, confiance que nous partagerons dans la gloire de Dieu.through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

3Bien plus, nous nous réjouissons aussi dans nos souffrances. Nous savons que la souffrance produit la persévérance.Not only that, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;

4La persévérance produit l'approbation et l'approbation, la confiance pour le futur.perseverance, character; and character, hope.

5Cette confiance ne déçoit pas, parce que l'amour de Dieu a été déversé dans nos cœurs par le Saint-Esprit qui nous a été donné.And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.

6Car lorsque nous étions encore faibles, Christ est mort au temps convenable pour les impies.For at just the right time, while we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.

8Mais Dieu prouve son amour envers nous, parce que lorsque nous étions encore pécheurs, Christ est mort pour nous.But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

9A plus forte raison donc maintenant que nous sommes justifiés par son sang, nous serons sauvés par lui de la colère de Dieu.Therefore, since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from wrath through Him!

10Car, si lorsque nous étions ennemis, nous avons été reconciliés avec Dieu par la mort de son Fils, combien plus après avoir été reconciliés, serons-nous sauvés par sa vie.For if, when we were enemies of God, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life!

11Non seulement cela, mais nous nous glorifions aussi en Dieu par notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, par qui nous avons maintenant reçu cette réconciliation.Not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

12Ainsi, comme le péché entra dans le monde par un seul homme, ainsi la mort est entrée par le péché. Et la mort s'est répandue à tous, parce que tous ont péché.Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, so also death was passed on to all men, because all sinned.

13Car, jusqu'à la loi le péché était dans le monde, mais le péché n'est pas imputable quand il n'y a pas de loi.For sin was in the world before the law was given; but sin is not taken into account when there is no law.

14Néanmoins, la mort a régné d'Adam à Moïse, même sur ceux qui n'avaient pas péché avec la même désobeissance qu'Adam, qui est l'image de celui qui devait venir.Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who did not sin in the way that Adam transgressed. He is a pattern of the One to come.

15Mais même jusque-là, le don gratuit n'est pas comme l'offense. Car, si par le péché d'un seul homme plusieurs sont morts, à combien plus la grâce de Dieu et le don par la grâce d'un seul homme, Jésus-Christ, abonde pour beaucoup.But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many!

16Car le don n'est pas comme le resultat de celui qui a péché. Car d'une part, le jugement de la condamnation est venu à cause de l'offense d'un homme; mais d'autre part, le don gratuit qui produit la justification intervient après plusieurs offenses.Again, the gift is not like the result of the one man’s sin: The judgment that followed one sin brought condemnation, but the gift that followed many trespasses brought justification.

17Car, si par l'offense de l'un, la mort a régné par elle seule, à combien plus ceux qui reçoivent l'abondance de la grâce et le don de la justice régneront-ils par la vie d'un seul, Jésus-Christ.For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!

18Ainsi donc, comme par une seule offense tous ont été condamnés, de même, par un seul acte de justice vient la justification de la vie de tous les hommes.So then, just as one trespass brought condemnation for all men, so also one act of righteousness brought justification and life for all men.

19Car, comme par la désobéissance du seul homme, tous sont devenus pécheurs, de même par l'obéissance d'un seul, plusieurs seront justifiésFor just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

20Mais la loi est survenue pour que l'offense abonde. Mais là où abonde le péché, la grâce abonde encore plus.The law came in so that the trespass would increase; but where sin increased, grace increased all the more,

21Ceci arriva afin que comme le péché régna dans la mort, que la grâce régne par la justice pour la vie éternelle par Jésus-Christ notre Seigneur.so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
