1 ULB Nous voulons vous faire connaître, frères, en ce qui concerne la grâce de Dieu qui s'est manifestée dans les églises de la Macédoine. BSB BSB: Now, brothers, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the churches of Macedonia.
2 ULB Pendant la grande épreuve de leurs afflictions, leur joie débordante et leur extrême pauvreté ont produit avec abondance de riches générosités. BSB BSB: In the terrible ordeal they suffered, their abundant joy and deep poverty overflowed into rich generosity.
3 ULB J'en suis témoin car ils ont donné de toutes leurs capacités, et même au-delà de leurs capacités. Et de leur propre volonté, BSB BSB: For I testify that they gave according to their ability and even beyond it. Of their own accord,
4 ULB avec beoucoup des supplications, ils nous ont demandé de leur accorder le privilège d'être aussi participants dans ce ministère aux croyants. BSB BSB: they earnestly pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the saints.
5 ULB Ceci ne s'est pas produit comme nous l'esperions, plutôt, ils se sont d’abord donnés eux-mêmes au Seigneur, puis à nous par la volonté de Dieu. BSB BSB: And not only did they do as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then to us, through the will of God.
6 ULB Alors, nous avons demandé à Tite d'accomplir chez vous cette œuvre de générosité comme il l'avait commencée. BSB BSB: So we urged Titus to help complete your act of grace, just as he had started it.
7 ULB Mais comme vous excellez en toutes choses- en foi, en parole, en connaissance, en toute diligence et dans votre amour pour nous, veillez aussi à exceller dans cette œuvre de générosité. BSB BSB: But just as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness, and in the love we inspired in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.
8 ULB Ce n'est pas un commandement que je vous donne. plutôt, je dis ceci pour prouver la sincérité de votre amour en le comparant par la diligence des autres. BSB BSB: I am not giving a command, but I am testing the sincerity of your love through the earnestness of others.
9 ULB En effet, vous connaissez la grâce de notre Seigneur Jésus Christ. Même s'il était riche, il s'est fait pauvre pour vous afin que par sa pauvreté vous deveniez riches. BSB BSB: For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.
10 ULB A ce propos, je vous donnerai conseil pour vous aider. Il y a une année de cela, vous avez non seulement entrepris de faire quelque chose mais vous en avez eu la volonté de le faire. BSB BSB: And this is my opinion about what is helpful for you in this matter: Last year you were the first not only to give, but even to have such a desire.
11 ULB Terminez-le maintenant. Pour qu'il y ait encore la bonne volonté et le désir de le faire, vous aussi venez à l'accomplissement comme vous êtes capables. BSB BSB: Now finish the work, so that you may complete it with the same eager desire, according to your means.
12 ULB Si vous avez la volonté de faire cette œuvre, c'est une chose bonne et acceptable. Elle doit être basée sur ce qu'une personne possède et non sur ce qu'elle ne possède pas. BSB BSB: For if the eagerness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he does not have.
13 ULB Car ce devoir n'est pas pour soulager les autres et vous imposer un fardeau, mais plutôt qu'il y ait égalité. BSB BSB: It is not our intention that others may be relieved while you are burdened, but that there may be equality.
14 ULB Votre superflu du temps présent pourrait subvenir à leurs besoins. De même, pour que leur superflu puisse pourvoir à vos besoins et qu'il y ait égalité. BSB BSB: At the present time, your surplus will meet their need, so that in turn their surplus will meet your need. This way there will be equality.
15 ULB Comme il est écrit: «Celui qui avait beaucoup n'avait rien de trop; et celui qui avait peu n’en manquait de rien.» BSB BSB: As it is written: “He who gathered much had no excess, and he who gathered little had no shortfall.”
16 ULB Grâces soient rendues à Dieu qui a mis dans le cœur de Tite la bonne volonté que j'ai pour vous. BSB BSB: But thanks be to God, who put into the heart of Titus the same devotion I have for you.
17 ULB Car il n'a pas seulement accepté notre demande, mais il avait aussi un grand zèle pour l'accomplir. Il est venu à vous de sa propre volonté. BSB BSB: For not only did he welcome our appeal, but he is eagerly coming to you of his own volition.
18 ULB Nous l'avons envoyé avec le frère dont toutes les églises font l'éloge pour son travail d'annoncer l'évangile. BSB BSB: Along with Titus we are sending the brother who is praised by all the churches for his work in the gospel.
19 ULB De plus, il a été aussi choisi par les églises pour effectuer le voyage avec nous pour accomplir cette œuvre de bienfaisance. Ceci pour la gloire du Seigneur lui-même, et notre volonté pour aider. BSB BSB: More than that, this brother was chosen by the churches to accompany us with the gracious offering we administer to honor the Lord Himself and to show our eagerness to help.
20 ULB Nous sommes entrain d'éviter la possibilité, que quelqu'un nous fasse des critiques concernant le don genereux que nous sommes entrain de collecter BSB BSB: We want to avoid any criticism of the way we administer this generous gift.
21 ULB Nous prenons soin de faire ce qui est honorable, non seulement devant le Seigneur, mais aussi devant les hommes. BSB BSB: For we are taking great care to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord, but also in the eyes of men.
22 ULB Nous envoyons aussi un autre frère avec eux. Nous l'avons souvent éprouvé et nous l'avons trouvé enthousiaste dans plusieurs tâches. Et maintenant, il est encore plus diligent à cause de la grande confiance qu'il a en vous. BSB BSB: And we are sending along with them our brother who has proven his earnestness to us many times and in many ways, and now even more so by his great confidence in you.
23 ULB Quant à Tite, il est mon partenaire et mon compagnon d'œuvre pour vous. A propos de nos frères, ils sont envoyés par les églises. Ils sont un honneur pour Christ. BSB BSB: As for Titus, he is my partner and fellow worker among you. As for our brothers, they are messengers of the churches, the glory of Christ.
24 ULB Alors montrez-leur votre amour, et montrez aux églises la raison de notre fierté à votre sujet. BSB BSB: In full view of the churches, then, show these men the proof of your love and the reason for our boasting about you.
