3 ULB Vers la neuvième heure du jour, il vit clairement dans une vision un ange de Dieu venant à lui. L'ange lui dit:«Corneille!» BSB BSB: One day at about the ninth hour, he had a clear vision of an angel of God who came to him and said, “Cornelius!”
4 ULB Corneille ébloui par l'ange et saisi d'effroi dit:«Qu'est ce que c'est, monsieur?» L'ange lui dit:«Tes prières et tes dons aux pauvres sont montés comme une offrande mémorable dans la présence de Dieu. BSB BSB: Cornelius stared at him in fear and asked, “What is it, Lord?” The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have ascended as a memorial offering before God.
5 ULB Maintenant envoie des hommes dans la ville de Joppée pour faire venir un homme nommé Simon, qu'on appelle aussi Pierre. BSB BSB: Now send men to Joppa to call for a man named Simon who is called Peter.
6 ULB Il demeure avec un corroyeur nommé Simon dont la maison est près de la mer.» BSB BSB: He is staying with Simon the tanner, whose house is by the sea.”
7 ULB Lorsque l'ange qui lui parlait l'a quitté, Corneille appela deux de ses serviteurs et un soldat qui adorait Dieu parmi ceux qui étaient à son service. BSB BSB: When the angel who spoke to him had gone, Cornelius called two of his servants and a devout soldier from among his attendants.
8 ULB Corneille leur dit tout ce qui s'était passé et les envoya à Joppée. BSB BSB: He explained what had happened and sent them to Joppa.
10 ULB Il eut faim et voulu manger quelque chose. Mais pendant qu'on lui préparait à manger, il tomba en extase, BSB BSB: He became hungry and wanted something to eat, but while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance.
11 ULB et vit le ciel s'ouvrir et un conteneur descendant, quelque chose comme une grande nappe descendant sur terre, tenue par les quatre coins. BSB BSB: He saw heaven open and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners.
12 ULB A l' intérieur se trouvaient tous les quadrupèdes et les reptiles et les oiseaux du ciel. BSB BSB: It contained all kinds of four-footed animals and reptiles of the earth, as well as birds of the air.
13 ULB Puis une voix lui dit:«Lèves-toi, Pierre, tue et mange!» BSB BSB: Then a voice said to him: “Get up, Peter, kill and eat!”
14 ULB Mais Pierre dit:«Non, Seigneur car je n'ai jamais rien mangé de souillé ni d'impur.» BSB BSB: “No, Lord!” Peter answered. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.”
15 ULB Mais pour la seconde fois la voix vint à lui encore:«Ce que Dieu a déclaré pur, ne l'appelle pas souillé.» BSB BSB: The voice spoke to him a second time: “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”
16 ULB Cela arriva trois fois et aussitôt le conteneur fut ramené au ciel. BSB BSB: This happened three times, and all at once the sheet was taken back up into heaven.
17 ULB Pendant que Pierre était très confus à propos de la signification de la vision qu'il avait eue, voici, les hommes envoyés par Corneille, après s'être informés du chemin de la maison, étaient arrivés devant la porte. BSB BSB: While Peter was puzzling over the meaning of the vision, the men sent by Cornelius found Simon’s house and approached the gate.
18 ULB Et ils appelèrent à haute voix et demandèrent si Simon aussi appelé Pierre était là. BSB BSB: They called out to ask if Simon called Peter was staying there.
19 ULB Tandis que Pierre pensait encore à la vision, l'Esprit lui dit:«Voici, trois hommes te demandent. Lève toi, BSB BSB: As Peter continued to reflect on the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men are looking for you.
20 ULB descends et vas avec eux. N'aies pas peur d'aller avec eux car c'est moi qui les ai envoyés.» BSB BSB: So get up! Go downstairs and accompany them without hesitation, because I have sent them.”
21 ULB Pierre descendit alors et dit aux hommes: «Je suis celui que vous cherchez, pourquoi êtes vous venus?» BSB BSB: So Peter went down to the men and said, “Here am I, the one you are looking for. Why have you come?”
22 ULB Ils répondirent:«Un centenier nommé Corneille, homme juste et adorateur de Dieu, et de qui toute la nation juive rend un bon témoignage a été instruit par un saint ange de Dieu pour te faire venir dans sa maison afin d'entendre un mesage de toi.» BSB BSB: “Cornelius the centurion has sent us,” they said. “He is a righteous and God-fearing man with a good reputation among the whole Jewish nation. A holy angel instructed him to request your presence in his home so he could hear a message from you.”
23 ULB Pierre donc les invita à entrer et rester avec lui. Le matin qui suivait, il se leva et alla avec eux. Quelques uns des frères de Joppée l'accompagnèrent. BSB BSB: So Peter invited them in as his guests. And the next day he got ready and went with them, accompanied by some of the brothers from Joppa.
24 ULB Le jour suivant, ils arrivèrent à Cesarée. Corneille les attendait et avait invité ses proches et ses amis intimes. BSB BSB: The following day he arrived in Caesarea, where Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends.

29 ULB C'est pourquoi je suis venu sans discuter quand tu m'as appelé. Pourquoi m'as tu donc appelé?» BSB BSB: So when I was invited, I came without objection. I ask, then, why have you sent for me?”
30 ULB Corneille répondit: "Il y a quatre jours à cette même heure, la neuvième heure, je priais dans ma maison et voici, un homme debout vêtu d'habit éclatant. BSB BSB: Cornelius answered: “Four days ago I was in my house praying at this, the ninth hour. Suddenly a man in radiant clothing stood before me
31 ULB Il dit: "Corneille ta prière a été écoutée par Dieu, et Dieu s'est souvenu de tes dons envers les pauvres. BSB BSB: and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your gifts to the poor have been remembered before God.
32 ULB Envoie donc à Joppée et fais venir un homme du nom de Simon qui est aussi appelé Pierre. Il demeure dans la maison d'un corroyeur nommé Simon, près de la mer. BSB BSB: Therefore send to Joppa for Simon, who is called Peter. He is a guest in the home of Simon the tanner, by the sea.’
33 ULB {J'ai aussitôt envoyé vers toi et tu as bien fait de venir. Maintenant donc nous sommes tous présent devant Dieu pour entendre ce que Dieu t'a instruit de nous dire.} BSB BSB: So I sent for you immediately, and you were kind enough to come. Now then, we are all here in the presence of God to listen to everything the Lord has instructed you to tell us.”
35 ULB Mais qu'en toute nation, celui qui le craint et l'adore et pratique la justice lui est agréable. BSB BSB: but welcomes those from every nation who fear Him and do what is right.
36 ULB Vous connaissez le message qu'Il a envoyé au peuple d'Israël, en leur annonçant la bonne nouvelle de la paix par Jésus Christ qui est le Seigneur de tous. BSB BSB: He has sent this message to the people of Israel, proclaiming the gospel of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.
37 ULB Vous savez-vous mêmes ce qui s'est passé dans toute la Judée, en commençant par la Galilée, après le baptême que Jean a prêché; BSB BSB: You yourselves know what has happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee with the baptism that John proclaimed:
38 ULB l'évènement concernant Jesus de Nazareth, comment Dieu l'a oint du Saint- Esprit et de puissance. Il allait faisant du bien et guérissant tous ceux qui étaient oppressés par le diable car Dieu était avec lui. BSB BSB: how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with Him.

42 ULB Il nous a commandé de prêcher au peuple et de témoigner qu'il a été choisi par Dieu pour être Juge des vivants et des morts. BSB BSB: And He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that He is the One appointed by God to judge the living and the dead.
43 ULB C'est de lui que tous les prophètes rendent témoignage, que quiconque croit en lui reçevra le pardon des péchés en son nom.» BSB BSB: All the prophets testify about Him that everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name.”
44 ULB Pendant que Pierre parlait encore, le Saint- Esprit descendit sur tous ceux qui écoutaient le message. BSB BSB: While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who heard his message.
45 ULB Les personnes qui appartenaient au groupe des croyants circoncis- ceux qui étaient venus avec Pierre- furent étonnés car le don du Saint- Esprit était aussi répandu sur les Païens. BSB BSB: All the circumcised believers who had accompanied Peter were astounded that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles.
46 ULB Car ils entendaient les Païens parler en langues et louant Dieu. Pierre repliqua alors: BSB BSB: For they heard them speaking in tongues and exalting God. Then Peter said,
47 ULB «Peut-on refuser le baptême d'eau à ceux qui ont reçu le Saint- Esprit comme nous?» BSB BSB: “Can anyone withhold the water to baptize these people? They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have!”
48 ULB Il ordonna alors qu'ils soient baptisés dans le nom de Jésus-Christ. Ils lui demandèrent donc de rester quelques jours avec eux. BSB BSB: So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay for a few days.
