2. 2GAX«Ilma She'altii'elii Zarubaabelii bulchaa Yihuda'aa, ilma Yozaadaaqii Iyaasuu hayyicha gudda'aatii fi kolbaa boojuu irraa deebiteen,BSBBSB: “Speak to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and also to the remnant of the people. Ask them,
3. 3GAX‹Isin keessaa ulfinna Galma Waaqaa ka durii nami dhaggeeru jiraa? Amma inni maan isinitti fakkaata ree? Inni akka waan ijjumaa hin jirree tokkootii motii?BSBBSB: ‘Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it not appear to you like nothing in comparison?’
4. 4GAXAmma ammoo Zarubaabel, jabaadhu! Ilma Yozaadaaqii Iyaasuu hayyicha gudda'a, jabaadhu! Kolbaan biyya keessa jirtanu marti, ani isin woliin waan jiruuf, jabaadha'aa ijaara'a!› jedhi.BSBBSB: But now be strong, O Zerubbabel, declares the LORD. Be strong, O Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. And be strong, all you people of the land, declares the LORD. Work! For I am with you, declares the LORD of Hosts.
5. 5GAXBiyya Gibxi'iitii yennaa baatane, ‹Ani isin woliin hin jiraadha› jedhee, akkuma waadaa isinii gale, ammalle Ayyaanni kiyya isin woliin waan jiruuf hin sodaatina'a.BSBBSB: This is the promise I made to you when you came out of Egypt. And My Spirit remains among you; do not be afraid.”
6. 6GAX«Ani Mootiin Waan Maraa Ka Waan Mara Dade, ‹Yennaa gabaadduu keessatti ol-gubba'aa fi lafa, abbaaya'aa fi lafa bisaan irra hin jirre ammalle hin tachoosa.BSBBSB: For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Once more, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land.
7. 7GAXGosa biyya adda addaa duudii hin tachoosa; karri isaanii duudiille akka as dhuttu hin godha; ani Galma Waaqaa kana ulfinnaan hin guuta.BSBBSB: I will shake all the nations, and they will come with all their treasures, and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of Hosts.
8. 8GAXWorqi'ii fi meetiin biyya lafaa duudiin tiyya.BSBBSB: The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine, declares the LORD of Hosts.
9. 9GAXUlfinni Galma Waaqaa haareya kanaa ka durii hin caala; anille achitti kolbaa tiyyaaf nageya guutuu hin kenna› jedha» jedhii itti himi.BSBBSB: The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former, says the LORD of Hosts. And in this place I will provide peace, declares the LORD of Hosts.”
10. 10GAXDaariyos mootii te'ee woggaa lammeesso'oo, ji'a sagaleesso'oo keessatti guyyaa diddamii arfeesso'ootitti, Mootiin Waan Maraa, karaa Haagee raagichaatiin ammalle dubbatee,BSBBSB: On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Haggai the prophet, saying,
11. 11GAX«Ani Mootiin Waan Maraa Ka Waan Mara Dade, ‹Me waan seerri jedhu hayyoota gaafadha'a!BSBBSB: “This is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Ask the priests for a ruling.
12. 12GAXNami tokko foon woyyoome addee ciinca'aa irraa fuudhee woya'aan maree yoo qabate, maraan sunille daabboo yookiin ittoo, daadhii woyni'ii yookiin zayitii, yookiin sagalee dhibii yoo tuxxe, sagaleen tun duudiin tanaan hin woyyoontii?› jedha» jedhe. Hayyooti deebisanee, «Waawwo'o» jedhane.BSBBSB: If a man carries consecrated meat in the fold of his garment, and it touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any other food, does that item become holy?’” “No,” replied the priests.
13. 13GAXHaageen ammalle, «Nami reeffa tuqiisaan battowe tokko, sagalee tana keessaa takkaa yoo tuqe, sagaleen tuqante sun hin battoottii?» jedhee isaan gaafate. Hayyootille, «Ee, hin battootti!» jedhanee deebisane.BSBBSB: So Haggai asked, “If one who is defiled by contact with a corpse touches any of these, does it become defiled?” “Yes, it becomes defiled,” the priests answered.
14. 14GAXAchiin duuba Haageen, «Kolbaan tun duudiin akkuma san; tanaaf hujii isaan hujjanuu fi wonni isaan addee ciinca'aa irratti dhiyeessanu ka battowe; tana Mootii Waan Maraatitti dubbate» jedhe.BSBBSB: Then Haggai replied, “So it is with this people and this nation before Me, declares the LORD, and so it is with every work of their hands; whatever they offer there is defiled.
15. 15GAXMootiin Waan Maraa, «Waan isin irratti te'e hin hubattanuu? Galma Waaqaa deebittanee ijaariisa adoo hin jalqabin dura,BSBBSB: Now consider carefully from this day forward: Before one stone was placed on another in the temple of the LORD,
16. 16GAXmidhaan kiiloo dhibba lama dhaggatiisaaf, gara tuulaa midhaanii dhaxxane, ammoo midhaan kiiloo dhibba tokko qofa dhaggatane; daadhii woyni'ii litirii dhibba tokko dhaggatiisaaf addee midhaan woyni'ii itti cunfanu dhaxxane, ammoo daadhii woyni'ii litirii afurtama qofa dhaggattane.BSBBSB: from that time, when one came expecting a heap of twenty ephahs of grain, there were but ten. When one came to the winepress to draw out fifty baths, there were but twenty.
17. 17GAXAni isinii fi waan isin itti eloottane mara gugguufaa, dhukkuba midhaanii ka adda addaatii fi dhakaa bokkeyaatiin dhowe; isin ammoo ammalle cubbuu irraa hin deebine.BSBBSB: I struck you—all the work of your hands—with blight, mildew, and hail, but you did not turn to Me, declares the LORD.
18. 18GAXJi'a sagaleesso'oo keessatti adha guyyaa diddamii arfeesso'ootitti, guyyaa hundeen Galma Waaqaa hundeeffamee jalqaba'aatii me hubadha'a.BSBBSB: Consider carefully from this day forward—from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, the day the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid—consider carefully:
19. 19GAXMidhaan sanyi'ii gootaraa keessa yoo hin jiraatin, muki woyni'ii, muki harru'uu, muki roomaaniitii fi muki ejersaa yoo haga ammaa midhaan hin buusin, ani guyyaa adhaatii jalqabee isin hin eebbisa» jedhe.BSBBSB: Is there still seed in the barn? The vine, the fig, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not yet yielded fruit. But from this day on, I will bless you.”
20. 20GAXJi'uma san keessatti guyyaa diddamii arfeesso'ootitti, Mootiin Waan Maraa yennaa lammeesso'oo Haage'etti dubbatee,BSBBSB: For the second time that day, the twenty-fourth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to Haggai, saying,
21. 21GAX«Zarubaabelii bulchaa Yihuda'aatiin, ‹Ani ol-gubba'aa fi lafa hin tachoosa;BSBBSB: “Tell Zerubbabel governor of Judah that I am about to shake the heavens and the earth:
22. 22GAXbarcumaa moototaa garagaggalcha; hunna mootummoota gosa biyya adda addaa hin balleessa; worra garreettaa fardaan harkifamu oofuu fi garreettaa isaanii garagaggalcha; fardoon isaanii hin dhumatti; abbootiin fardo'oolle wol hin ijjeetti;BSBBSB: I will overturn royal thrones and destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overturn chariots and their riders; horses and their riders will fall, each by the sword of his brother.
23. 23GAXGuyyaa san ani Mootiin Waan Maraa Ka Waan Mara Dade, si tajaajilaa kiyya ilma She'atii'elii Zarubaabel filadhee akka chaappaa kiyya ka qube'ee si godhadha› jedha» jedhe.BSBBSB: On that day, declares the LORD of Hosts, I will take you, My servant, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, declares the LORD, and I will make you like My signet ring, for I have chosen you, declares the LORD of Hosts.”
