1«Maarre obboleeyyan teessan, ‹Kolbaa tiyya›, obboleeyyan teessan ta durraalle, ‹Marartii› jedha'aa waama'a.“Say of your brothers, ‘My people,’ and of your sisters, ‘My loved one.’

2«Isiin haadha manaa tiyya waan hin teeneef, anille abbaa manaa isi'ii waan hin teeneef, ijoollee tiyya haadha teessan gorsa'a! Isii gorsa'a! Herrega gaarayyeeffataatii fi sagaagalaa lakkittuu ti.Rebuke your mother, rebuke her, for she is not My wife, and I am not her husband. Let her remove the adultery from her face and the unfaithfulness from between her breasts.

3Yoo akkas hin te'in, ani mulqee akka guyyaa dhalattee, qullaa isii hambura; akka goomole'ee, lafa godduu isii hin godha; dheebu'uun isii ijjeesa.Otherwise, I will strip her naked and expose her like the day of her birth. I will make her like a desert and turn her into a parched land, and I will let her die of thirst.

4Isaan ijoollee gaarayyeeffattu'uu waan te'aneef, ani ijoollee isi'ii hin mararu.I will have no compassion on her children, because they are the children of adultery.

5Haati isaanii gaarayyeeffattee, karaa salphinnaatiin isaan ulfootte. Isiin, ‹Ani worra midhaanii fi bisaan, woyaa liilanaatii fi woyaa quncee talba'aa irraa hujante, zayiti'ii fi untoo naaf kennanu, gaarayyoota tiyya gula deema› jette.For their mother has played the harlot and has conceived them in disgrace. For she thought, ‘I will go after my lovers, who give me bread and water, wool and linen, oil and drink.’

6«Tanaaf, ani haxanxarii qore'eetiin karaa isi'ii hin cufa; akka isiin karaa baatu hin dhagganne, dalleya dhaka'aa itti ijaara.Therefore, behold, I will hedge up her path with thorns; I will enclose her with a wall, so she cannot find her way.

7Isiin gaarayyoota ifii gula fiiddi ammoo isaan hin dhaqqaddu; isaan hin barbaaddi ammoo hin dhaggitu. Achiin duuba, isiin, ‹Jiruu tiyya ta ammaa, jiruun tiyya ta durii waan caaltuuf, gara dhirsa kiyya ka durii deebi'a› hin jetti.She will pursue her lovers but not catch them; she will seek them but not find them. Then she will say, ‘I will return to my first husband, for then I was better off than now.’

8Isiin midhaan, daadhii woyni'ii o'itu'uu fi zayitii ejersaa ka isi'iif kenne, meeti'ii fi worqii isaan waaqa dharaa Ba'aaliif hujane, ka baceesse ana akka te'e hin beenne.For she does not acknowledge that it was I who gave her grain, new wine, and oil, who lavished on her silver and gold—which they crafted for Baal.

9«Tanaaf, ani midhaan kiyya yennaa inni bilchaate, daadhii woyni'ii o'ituun tiyyalle yennaa isiin qophootte hin fudhadha. Woyaa liilanaatii fi woyaa quncee talba'aa irraa hujante tiyyalle akka isiin nafa qullaa ifiitiin hin gollanne ani deebisee hin fudhadha.Therefore I will take back My grain in its time and My new wine in its season; I will take away My wool and linen, which were given to cover her nakedness.

10Ani gaarayyoota isi'ii duratti mulqee, qullaa isii hambura. Harka kiyya keessaa ka isii baasu hin jiru.And then I will expose her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and no one will deliver her out of My hands.

11Ani jila isi'ii mara: jila isi'ii ka wogga'aa, ka baatii ji'aa, ka guyyaa Sanbataa, jila isi'ii ka addaa mara hin hambura.I will put an end to all her exultation: her feasts, New Moons, and Sabbaths—all her appointed feasts.

12Muka woyni'iitii fi muka harru'uu ka isiin, ‹Gaarayyoota kiyyatti gatii naaf kenne› jettu san hin balleessa. Ani gongomaa isaan godha; bineensoti isaan hin nyaatan.I will destroy her vines and fig trees, which she thinks are the wages paid by her lovers. So I will make them into a thicket, and the beasts of the field will devour them.

13Guyyoota isiin waaqa dharaa Ba'aaliif hixaana aarsiteef, ani isii hin adaba; isiin qube'ee fi seesa naqattee, gaarayyoota ifii gula deentee, ana ammoo deete» jedhe.I will punish her for the days of the Baals when she burned incense to them, when she adorned herself with rings and jewelry, and went after her lovers. But Me she forgot,” declares the LORD.

14Mootiin Waan Maraa ammalle, «Tanaaf, ani amma isii hin sossobadha; gara goomole'ee isii geessee, jecha jaalalaa isi'itti hin dubbadha.“Therefore, behold, I will allure her and lead her to the wilderness, and speak to her tenderly.

15Achitti muka woyni'ii isi'iif hin deebisa; ani dhooqa Akorii balbala addi'ii isi'iif hin godha; achitti akka guyyaa biyya Gibxi'ii keessaa baateetitti, akka guyyaa dargaggummaa ifiititti gammadaan hin faarfatti.There I will give back her vineyards and make the Valley of Achor into a gateway of hope. There she will respond as she did in the days of her youth, as in the day she came up out of Egypt.

16Guyyaa san ‹Dhirsa kiyya› jettee na waanti malee, akka Ba'aalii waaqa ifii ka dharaa, ‹Goottaa kiyya› jettee waantu na hin waantu.In that day,” declares the LORD, “you will call Me ‘my Husband,’ and no longer call Me ‘my Master.’

17Akka isiin deebitee waaqota dharaa Ba'aal maqaa hin dhoonne hin godha.For I will remove from her lips the names of the Baals; no longer will their names be invoked.

18«Guyyaa san ani bineensota, sinbirroota fi bineensota lafa irra munyuuqanu woliin gondooroo hin godha. Martinuu nageyaan akka le'uuf, ani guube'ee fi shallaagaa, meya lolaa mara lafa irraa hin balleessa.On that day I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air and the creatures that crawl on the ground. And I will abolish bow and sword and battle in the land, and will make them lie down in safety.

19Ani haga bara baraa fuudhaaf si hawadadha; balchumma'aan, haqaan, jaalala bara baraatii fi mararti'iin fuudhaaf si hawadadha.So I will betroth you to Me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in loving devotion and compassion.

20Ani addatamumma'aan fuudhaaf si hawadadha; atille ana Mootii Waan Maraa hin beetta.And I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will know the LORD.”

21Yennaa san ani Mootiin Waan Maraa deebii hin kenna; ani ol-gubba'aaf deebii hin kenna; ol-gubbaalle lafaaf deebii hin kenniti.“On that day I will respond—” declares the LORD—“I will respond to the heavens, and they will respond to the earth.

22Lattille midhaan, woyni'ii fi zayitii ejersaa kenniisaan Yizre'eliif deebii hin kenniti.And the earth will respond to the grain, to the new wine and oil, and they will respond to Jezreel.

23Ani biyya keessatti kolbaa tiyya hin dhaaba; worra, ‹Lo-Ruhaamaa› jedhee waame hin marara; worra ‹Lo-Amii› jedhee waame, ‹kolbaa tiyya› hin jedha. Isaanille, ‹Ati Waaqa keenna› anaan hin jedhan» jedhe.And I will sow her as My own in the land, and I will have compassion on ‘No Compassion.’ I will say to those called ‘Not My People,’ ‘You are My people,’ and they will say, ‘You are my God.’”
