2Abaarsa, dhara, ijjeechaa, hannaa fi gaarayyeeffata qofatti achi jira; wolii galtee mara diigan; dhiiga dhangalaasiis isaanii bacateera.Cursing and lying, murder and stealing, and adultery are rampant; one act of bloodshed follows another.

3Sababa kanaaf, oolaan lafatti bu'a; wonni isii irra le'u marti hin du'an; bineensotii fi sinbirrooti, qurxummiin abbaaya'aalle hin dhumatan.Therefore the land mourns, and all who dwell in it will waste away with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air; even the fish of the sea disappear.

4«Kolbaan teeti akkuma worra hayyoota himatuu san waan teeteef, nami dubbii hin kaasin; nami nama dhibii himatu hin jiraatin.But let no man contend; let no man offer reproof; for your people are like those who contend with a priest.

5Isin halkanii fi guyyaa gufattan; raagotille isin woliin gufatan. Tanaaf, ani biyya teessan Israa'el hin balleessa.You will stumble by day, and the prophet will stumble with you by night; so I will destroy your mother—

6Kolbaan tiyya beekkumsa dhabiisaan baddeerti; isin beekkumsa waan jibbitaneef, anille akka isin hayyoota naaf hin teene isin jibbe; isin seera ana Waaqa keessanii waan deetaneef, anille ijoollee teessan hin dedha.My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you as My priests. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.

7«Akkuma hayyooti bacatte, cubbuun isaan na irratti hujanulle bacatte; ani ulfinna isaanii salphinnatti hin jijjiira.The more they multiplied, the more they sinned against Me; they exchanged their Glory for a thing of disgrace.

8Isaan kennansa kolbaan tiyya sababa cubbu'uutiif kennitu nyaatan; akka kolbaan yakkaa baceessitee hujju fedhan.They feed on the sins of My people and set their hearts on iniquity.

9Hayyootille akkuma kolba'aa ti; ani isaan lachuu hin adaba; hujii isaaniitiif gatii isaaniif hin kaffala.And it shall be like people, like priest. I will punish both of them for their ways and repay them for their deeds.

10Isaan hin nyaatan, ammoo hin quufanu; hin sagaagalan, ammoo hin horanu; isaan ana Mootii Waan Maraa lakkisanee,They will eat but not be satisfied; they will be promiscuous but not multiply. For they have abandoned the LORD to give themselves

11sagaagalaaf, daadhii woyni'ii ta baatee fi ta hin bayin, ta hubantii kolbaa tiyya irraa fudhatteef ifi kennane.to promiscuity, wine, and new wine, which take away understanding.

12Kolbaan tiyya waaqota muka irraa hujame irraa gorsa gaafatti. Uleen mukaa deebii isaaniif kenniti. Ayyaanni sagaagalaa karaa irraa isaan gorsa; isaan Waaqa ifiitiif hin addatamanu.My people consult their wooden idols, and their divining rods inform them. For a spirit of prostitution leads them astray and they have played the harlot against their God.

13Isaan qaccee gaarotaa irratti ciincaa ciincessan; koobota irratti, qilxaa jalatti, muka dafee guddatuu fi daandii jalatti, gaaddisi isaanii waan toluuf, kennansa gubamu dhikeessan. «Tanaaf, ijoolleen durraa teessan sagaagalti; niitoti ilmaan teessaniille gaarayyeeffatti.They sacrifice on the mountaintops and burn offerings on the hills, under oak, poplar, and terebinth, because their shade is pleasant. And so your daughters turn to prostitution and your daughters-in-law to adultery.

14Ijoolleen durraa teessan yennaa sagaagaltu, niitoti ilmaan teessaniille yennaa gaarayyeeffattu, ani isaan hin adabu; sababille, dhiirtinuu sagaagaltoota gula deemaa, galma waaqota dharaatitti woliin ciincaa dhikeessan; kolbaan hubantii hin qanne hin baddi.I will not punish your daughters when they prostitute themselves, nor your daughters-in-law when they commit adultery. For the men themselves go off with prostitutes and offer sacrifices with shrine prostitutes. So a people without understanding will come to ruin.

15«Ee, Israa'el, ati gaarayyeeffattulle, Yihudaan akka keeti hin te'in. Giilgal hin dhaqina'a; gara Bet-Aweenii ol hin bayina'a. ‹Dhugaa Mootii Waan Maraa ka jiraataa te'ee› jettaneelle hin kakatina'a.Though you prostitute yourself, O Israel, may Judah avoid such guilt! Do not journey to Gilgal, do not go up to Beth-aven, and do not swear on oath, ‘As surely as the LORD lives!’

16Kolbaan Israa'elii akka goronsa jallichaa teeteerti. Mootiin Waan Maraa akka hoolota diida dansaa keessaa attam isaan tissa ree?For Israel is as obstinate as a stubborn heifer. Can the LORD now shepherd them like lambs in an open meadow?

17Kolbaan Israa'elii waaqota dharaatiin wolitti hidhanteerti. Itti lakkisa'a.Ephraim is joined to idols; leave him alone!

18Yennaa untoo ifii fixatanulle, sagaagala ifiititti ka'an; bulchitooti isaanii salphinna kana guddoo jaalatan.When their liquor is gone, they turn to prostitution; their rulers dearly love disgrace.

19Hobonbolattiin haxoottee isaan fudhattee hin ideenti; ciincaan isaanii salphinna isaanitti hin fida.The whirlwind has wrapped them in its wings, and their sacrifices will bring them shame.
