1. 1GAZEነሞትን ባይኤን ሴና ወንቶተ ኑ ግዱት ራወተሜ ሰና በሬሱ ያለኒሩ፤BSBBSB: Many have undertaken to compose an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us,
2. 2GAZEኩንስ አከ ወር ጀልቀባ ካሰኒ እጃን አርገኒፊ ተጃጅልቶተ ዱብቻ ቱረን ሱን ኑት ደበርሰኒ ኬነንት።BSBBSB: just as they were handed down to us by the initial eyewitnesses and servants of the word.
3. 3GAZEከናፉ ያ ቴዎፍሎስ ከበጀማ፣ አንስ ጀልቀቡማ ካሴ ዋን ሁንዱማ ስሪት ኤርገን ቆረዼ ቦዴ ሴና ሰነ ወል ዱራ ዱባን ሲፍ በሬሱን ዋን ጋሪ ነት ፈካቴረ።BSBBSB: Therefore, having carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus,
4. 4GAZEኩንስ አከ ወን አት በረቴ ሱን ዹጋ ተኤ አከ ቤክቱፍ።BSBBSB: so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.
5. 5GAZEበረ ሄሮድስ ሞቲ ይሁዳ ቱሬት ረመዲ ሉቡማ አብያ ኬሳ ሉበ ዘካርያስ ጄዸሙ ቶኮቱ ቱሬ፤ ኒቲንሳ ኤልሳቤጥስ ሰኚ ኣሮን።BSBBSB: In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah, and whose wife Elizabeth was a descendant of Aaron.
6. 6GAZEለማንሳኒዩ አጀጃፊ ሴረ ጎፍታ ሁንደ ሙዳ መሌ ኤጉዻን ፉለ ዋቃ ዱረት ቀጄልቶተ ቱረን።BSBBSB: Both of them were righteous in the sight of God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and decrees of the Lord.
7. 7GAZEገሩ ኤልሳቤጥ ዋን ዸብዱ ቱርቴፍ እጆሌ ህንቀበን ቱሬ፤ ለማንሳኒዩ ዱሎመኒ ቱረን።BSBBSB: But they had no children, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both well along in years.
8. 8GAZEዘካርያስስ ደበሬን ገሬሳ ጌኛን ኡቱ ፉለ ዋቃ ዱረት ተጃጅለ ሉቡማሳ ኬና ጅሩ፣BSBBSB: One day while Zechariah’s division was on duty and he was serving as priest before God,
9. 9GAZEአኩመ ዱዻ ሉቡማት አከ መነ ቁልቁሉማ ጎፍታ ሴኔ እጣነ ኣርሱፍ እጣዻን ፍለተሜ።BSBBSB: he was chosen by lot, according to the custom of the priesthood, to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense.
10. 10GAZEዬሮ እጣን ኣርፈሙትስ ነሞትን ባይኤን አለት ከዸቻ ቱረን።BSBBSB: And at the hour of the incense offering, the whole congregation was praying outside.
11. 11GAZEኤርገማን ጎፍታስ እዶ ኣርሳ እጣናቲን ምርገ ዻበቴ ዘካርያስት ሙልአቴ።BSBBSB: Just then an angel of the Lord appeared to Zechariah, standing at the right side of the altar of incense.
12. 12GAZEዘካርያስስ ዮሙ እሰ አርጌት ንርፈቴ፤ ሶዳንስ እሰ ቀበቴ።BSBBSB: When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and gripped with fear.
13. 13GAZEኤርገማን ሱን ገሩ አከነ እሳን ጄዼ፤ “ያ ዘካርያስ፣ ህንሶዳትን፤ ከዸትናንኬ ዸገአሜረ። ኒቲንኬ ኤልሳቤጥ እልመ ሲፍ ዴስ፤ አትስ መቃሳ ዮሀንስ ጄዺ ሞጋስ።BSBBSB: But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John.
14. 14GAZEአት እልሌፊ ገመቹ ንቀባተ፤ ነሞትን ባይኤንስ ዸለቹሳት ንገመዱ፤BSBBSB: He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice at his birth,
15. 15GAZEእን ፉለ ጎፍታ ዱረት ጉዳ ተኣቲ። ዳዺ ወይኒ ዮካን ዹጋቲ ነመ መቼሱ ዹጉ ጎንኩማ ህንቀቡ፤ ኡቱመ ገራ ሃዸሳ ኬሰ ጅሩስ ሀፉረ ቁልቁሉዻን ንጉተመ።BSBBSB: for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He shall never take wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from his mother’s womb.
16. 16GAZEሰበ እስራኤል ኬሳስ ነሞተ ባይኤ ገረ ጎፍታ፣ ገረ ዋቀሳኒት ንዴብሰ።BSBBSB: Many of the sons of Israel he will turn back to the Lord their God.
17. 17GAZEእንስ ሰበ ጎፍታፍ ቆጳኤ ቶኮ ኩርፌሱፍ ጄዼ ገራ አቦቲ ገረ እጆሌሳኒት፣ ወረ ህንአጀጀምኔሞ ገረ ኦጉማ ቀጄልቶታት ዴብሱፍ ሀፉራፊ ሁምነ ኤልያሲን ፉለ ጎፍታ ዱረ ንዴመ።”BSBBSB: And he will go on before the Lord in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
18. 18GAZEዘካርያስስ፣ “አን አከምን ከነ ቤከ? አን ዱሎሜረ፤ ኡሙሪን ኒቲኮቲስ ዴሜረ” ጄዼ ኤርገማ ሰነ ጋፈቴ።BSBBSB: “How can I be sure of this?” Zechariah asked the angel. “I am an old man, and my wife is well along in years.”
19. 19GAZEኤርገማን ሱንስ አከነ ጄዼ ዴብሴፍ፤ “አን ገብርኤል እሰ ፉለ ዋቃ ዱረ ዻበቱዸ፤ አንስ ስት ዱበቹፊ ኦዱ ገመቺሳ ከነ ስት ህሙፍ ኤርገሜረ።BSBBSB: “I am Gabriel,” replied the angel. “I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news.
20. 20GAZEኩኖ፣ አት ሰበቢ ዱቢኮ እሰ ዬሮሳት ምርከናኡ ህንአመንኒፍ ሀመ ጋፈ ወን ኩን ተኡት ንዱደ፤ ዱበቹስ ህንደንዴሱ።”BSBBSB: And now you will be silent and unable to speak until the day this comes to pass, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled at their proper time.”
21. 21GAZEኡመትንስ ዬሮ ሰነ ሰበቢ ዘካርያስ ዬሮ አከስ ዼረቱ መነ ቁልቁሉማ ኬሰ ቱሬፍ ድንቅፈቻ እሰ ኤጋ ቱሬ።BSBBSB: Meanwhile, the people were waiting for Zechariah and wondering why he took so long in the temple.
22. 22GAZEገሩ ዘካርያስ ዮሙ ገድ በኤት ዋን እሳንት ዱበቹ ህንደንደኢኒፍ እሳን አከ እን መነ ቁልቁሉማ ኬሰት ሙልአተ ወዪ አርጌ ሁበተን፤ እንስ መለቶን እሳንት ህማ ቱሬ መሌ ዱበቹ ህንደንዴኜ።BSBBSB: When he came out and was unable to speak to them, they realized he had seen a vision in the temple. He kept making signs to them but remained unable to speak.
23. 23GAZEእንስ ዮሙ ዬሮን ተጃጅለሳ ራወቴት ገረ መነሳት ዴብኤ።BSBBSB: And when the days of his service were complete, he returned home.
24. 24GAZEኤርገሲ ኒቲንሳ ኤልሳቤጥ ኡልፎፍቴ ሀመ ጅአ ሸኒት መና ህንባኔ።BSBBSB: After these days, his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and for five months remained in seclusion. She declared,
25. 25GAZEእሼንስ፣ “ጎፍታን ሰልጵነ ነሞተ ግዱት ነረ ቱሬ ነራ ካሱፍ ጄዼ ጉያ አርጁማን ነ ያደቴት ዋን ከነ ናፍ ጎዼ” ጄቴ።BSBBSB: “The Lord has done this for me. In these days He has shown me favor and taken away my disgrace among the people.”
26. 26GAZEጅአ ጀአፋትስ ገብርኤል ኤርገምች ዋቀ ብራ ገረ መጋላ ናዝሬት እሼ ገሊላ ኬሰት አርገምቱት ኤርገሜ፤BSBBSB: In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to a town in Galilee called Nazareth,
27. 27GAZEእንስ ገረ ዱርበ ነምች ሰኚ ዳዊትራ ዸለቴ ከን መቃንሳ ዮሴፍ ጄዸሙ ቶኮፍ ካዽመምቴ ዹፌ። መቃን ዱርበ ቁልቁልቲ ሰናስ ማርያም ቱሬ።BSBBSB: to a virgin pledged in marriage to a man named Joseph, who was of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary.
28. 28GAZEኤርገማን ዋቃ ሱንስ ገረሼ ዸቄ፣ “ያ እሼ ሱራ አርገቴ፤ ነጋን ሲፍ ሃተኡ! ጎፍታን ስ ወጅን ጅረ” ጄዼ።BSBBSB: The angel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
29. 29GAZEማርያም ገሩ ዱቢ ኤርገማ ሰናቲን አከ መሌ ጄቀምቴ፣ “ኩን ነጋ አከሚቲ?” ጄቴ ያዴ።BSBBSB: Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.
30. 30GAZEኤርገምች ገሩ አከነ እሼዻን ጄዼ፤ “ያ ማርያም፣ ህንሶዳትን፤ አት ዋቀ ብራ ሱራ አርገቴርታቲ።BSBBSB: So the angel told her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
31. 31GAZEኩኖ ንኡልፎፍተ፤ እልመስ ንዴሰ፤ መቃሳስ ዬሱስ ጄቴ ሞጋፍተ።BSBBSB: Behold, you will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus.
32. 32GAZEእንስ ጉዳ ንተአ፤ እልመ ዋቀ ዋን ሁንዳ ኦሊ ጄዸሜስ ንዋመመ። ዋቅን ጎፍታንስ ቴሶ አባሳ ዳዊት ንኬናፍ፤BSBBSB: He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David,
33. 33GAZEእን መነ ያቆብረት በረ በራን ንሞአ፤ ሞቱማንሳስ ዹመ ህንቀቡ።”BSBBSB: and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever. His kingdom will never end!”
34. 34GAZEማርያምስ፣ “አን ዱርበ፤ ዮስ ወን ኩን አከምት ተኡ ደንደአሬ?” ጄቴ ኤርገማ ሰነ ጋፈቴ።BSBBSB: “How can this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”
35. 35GAZEኤርገማን ሱንስ አከነ ጄዼ ዴብሴፍ፤ “ሀፉር ቁልቁሉን ስረ ቡአ፤ ሁምን ዋቀ ዋን ሁንዳ ኦሊስ ስጎልቦበ። ከናፍ እን ቁልቁሉን ዸለቱ ሱን እልመ ዋቃ ንጄዸመ።BSBBSB: The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.
36. 36GAZEኩኖ፣ ፍርኬ ኤልሳቤጥዩ ዱሉመሼ ኬሰ እልመ ኡልፎፍቴርት፤ እሼን ዸብዱ ጄዸማ ቱርቴ ሱን ጅአ ጀአፋ ቀበቴርት።BSBBSB: Look, even Elizabeth your relative has conceived a son in her old age, and she who was called barren is in her sixth month.
37. 37GAZEወን ዋቃፍ ህንደንደአምኔ ህንጅሩቲ።”BSBBSB: For no word from God will ever fail.”
38. 38GAZEማርያምስ፣ “ኩኖ፣ አን ገርብቲ ጎፍታት። አኩመ አት ዱበቴ ናፍ ሃተኡ” ጄቴን። ኤርገምችስ እሼ ዺሴ ዴሜ።BSBBSB: “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it happen to me according to your word.” Then the angel left her.
39. 39GAZEዬሮ ሰነ ማርያም ካቴ አሪቲዻን ገረ መጋላ በዳ ብየ ይሁዳ ቶኮ ዸቅጤ።BSBBSB: In those days Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judah,
40. 40GAZEእሼንስ መነ ዘካርያስ ሴንቴ ኤልሳቤጥን ነጋ ጋፈቴ።BSBBSB: where she entered the home of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth.
41. 41GAZEኤልሳቤጥስ ዮሙ ነጋ ማርያም ዸጌሴት ሙጫን ሱን ገደሜሰሼ ኬሰ ኡኡታሌ። ኤልሳቤጥስ ሀፉረ ቁልቁሉዻን ንጉተምቴ።BSBBSB: When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
42. 42GAZEእሼንስ ሰገሌሼ ኦል ፉዸቴ እይቴ አከነ ጄቴ፤ “አት ዱበርቶተ ኬሳ ኤብፈምቱዸ፤ ሙጫን አት ዴሱስ ኤብፈማዸ።BSBBSB: In a loud voice she exclaimed, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
43. 43GAZEገሩ አከ ሃት ጎፍታኮ ገረኮ ዹፍቱፍ አርጁማን አከና አከምት ና ጎዸሜ?BSBBSB: And why am I so honored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44. 44GAZEኩኖ፣ አኩመ ሰገሌን ነጋኬቲ ጉረኮ ሴኔን ኡልፍ ገደሜሰኮ ኬሰ ጅሩ ገመቹዻን ኡታሌረ።BSBBSB: For as soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.
45. 45GAZEወን ጎፍታን እሼት ዱበቴ አከ ራወተሙ ከን አመንቴ እሼን ኤብፈምቱዸ!”BSBBSB: Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord’s word to her will be fulfilled.”
46. 46GAZEማርያምስ አከነ ጄቴ፦ “ሉቡንኮ ጎፍታዻፍ ኡልፍነ ኬንት፤BSBBSB: Then Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord,
47. 47GAZEሀፉርኮስ ፈይሳኮ ዋቀት ንገመደ፤BSBBSB: and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!
48. 48GAZEእን ሰልጵነ ገርብቲሳ አርጌራቲ። ኩኖ አማ ጀልቀቤ ዸሎትን ሁንድኑ ኤብፈምቱ ናን ጄዸ፤BSBBSB: For He has looked with favor on the humble state of His servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed.
49. 49GAZEእን ሁምነ ቀቤስ ሱን ዋን ጉዳ ናፍ ጎዼራቲ፤ መቃንሳ ቁልቁሉዸ።BSBBSB: For the Mighty One has done great things for me. Holy is His name.
50. 50GAZEአራርሳስ ወረ እሰ ሶዳተኒፍ ዸሎታ ሀመ ዸሎታት እት ፉፈ።BSBBSB: His mercy extends to those who fear Him, from generation to generation.
51. 51GAZEእን እሬሳቲን ሆጂወን ጉርጉዳ ሆጄቴረ፤ ኦፍ ቱልቶተስ ያደ ገራሳኒቲን ብትኔሴረ።BSBBSB: He has performed mighty deeds with His arm; He has scattered those who are proud in the thoughts of their hearts.
52. 52GAZEቡልችቶተ ቴሶሳኒራ ቡሴረ፤ ገድ ኦፍ ቀቤዪ ገሩ ኦል ካሴረ።BSBBSB: He has brought down rulers from their thrones, but has exalted the humble.
53. 53GAZEወረ ቤለአን ዋን ጋሪዻን ቁፍሴረ፤ ሶሬዪ ገሩ ሀርከ ዱዋ ዴብሴረ።BSBBSB: He has filled the hungry with good things, but has sent the rich away empty.
54. 54GAZEእን አራረ ቀቤሰ ተኡሳ ያደቻ ገርብቸሳ እስራኤልን ገርጋሬረ፤BSBBSB: He has helped His servant Israel, remembering to be merciful,
55. 55GAZEኩንስ አኩመ እን አቦቲኬኛፍ፣ አብረሃሚፊ ሰኚሳቲፍ በረ በራን ዋዳ ገሌት።”BSBBSB: as He promised to our fathers, to Abraham and his descendants forever.”
56. 56GAZEማርያምስ ገረ ጅአ ሰዲ ኤልሳቤጥ ብረ ቱርቴ ገረ መነ ኦፊሼት ዴብቴ።BSBBSB: Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.
57. 57GAZEኤልሳቤጥ ዬሮን ደኡምሰሼ ጌኛን እልመ ዴሴ።BSBBSB: When the time came for Elizabeth to have her child, she gave birth to a son.
58. 58GAZEኦሎትንሼቲፊ ፍሮትንሼ አከ ጎፍታን አራረ ጉዳ እሼፍ ጎዼ ዸገአኒ እሼ ወጅን ገመደን።BSBBSB: Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown her great mercy, and they rejoiced with her.
59. 59GAZEእሳንስ ጉያ ሰዴተፋት ዳእመ ሰነ ዸግነ ቀቡ ዹፈን፤ ዘካርያስ ጄዸኒስ መቃ አባሳቲን እሰ ሞጋሱ ፌዸን።BSBBSB: On the eighth day, when they came to circumcise the child, they were going to name him after his father Zechariah.
60. 60GAZEሃትሳ ገሩ፣ “ለኪ! እን ዮሀንስ ጄዸሜ ዋመሙ ቀበ” ጄቴ።BSBBSB: But his mother replied, “No! He shall be called John.”
61. 61GAZEእሳንስ፣ “ፍሮተኬ ኬሰ ነምን መቃ አከና ቀቡ ቶኮዩ ህንጅሩ” ጄዸኒን።BSBBSB: They said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who bears this name.”
62. 62GAZEነሞትን ሱንስ አከ ዘካርያስ ኤኙ ጄዼ ዳእመ ሰነ ዋሙ በርባዱ ቤኩፍ ጄዸኒ መለቶን እሰ ጋፈተን።BSBBSB: So they made signs to his father to find out what he wanted to name the child.
63. 63GAZEእንስ ገበቴ እረት በሬሱ ከዸቴ፣ “መቃንሳ ዮሀንስ” ጄዼ በሬሴ፤ ሁንድሳኒስ ንድንቅፈተን።BSBBSB: Zechariah asked for a tablet and wrote, “His name is John.” And they were all amazed.
64. 64GAZEዮሙሱመ አፋንሳ በነሜ አረብንሳ ሂከሜ፤ እንስ ዋቀ ገለቴፈቹዻን ዱበቹ ጀልቀቤ።BSBBSB: Immediately Zechariah’s mouth was opened and his tongue was released, and he began to speak, praising God.
65. 65GAZEኦሎትንሳኒ ሁንድኑ ሶዳዻን ጉተመን፤ ወን ኩንስ በዳ ብየ ይሁዳ ሁንደ ኬሰት ኦዴፈሜ።BSBBSB: All their neighbors were filled with awe, and people throughout the hill country of Judea were talking about these events.
66. 66GAZEወር ከነ ዸገአን ሁንድኑስ፣ “ዮስ ዳእምን ኩን ነመ አከሚ ተእነ ላተ?” ጄዸኒ ገራሳኒት ድንቅፈተን። ሀርክ ጎፍታ እሰ ወጅን ቱሬቲ።BSBBSB: And all who heard this wondered in their hearts and asked, “What then will this child become?” For the Lord’s hand was with him.
67. 67GAZEዘካርያስ አባን ዮሀንስ ሀፉረ ቁልቁሉዻን ጉተሜ አከነ ጄዼስ ራጂ ዱበቴ፦BSBBSB: Then his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied:
68. 68GAZE“ሰበቢ ዹፌ ሰበሳ ፉሬፍ ጎፍታን፣ ዋቅን እስራኤል ሃኤብፈሙ።BSBBSB: “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has visited and redeemed His people.
69. 69GAZEእን መነ ገርብቸሳ መነ ዳዊት ኬሰት ጋንፈ ፈይና ኑፍ ካሴረ፤BSBBSB: He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of His servant David,
70. 70GAZEአኩመ አፋን ራጆተሳ ቁልቁሎተ ዱሪቲን ዱበቴትBSBBSB: as He spoke through His holy prophets, those of ages past,
71. 71GAZEዲኖተኬኘ ጀላ፣ ሀርከ ወረ ኑ ጅበን ሁንዱማ ኬሳስ ኑ ባሱፍ ጄዼBSBBSB: salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us,
72. 72GAZEአራረ አቦቲኬኛፍ ዋዳ ገሌ ራወቹዻፍ፣ ከኩሳ ቁልቁሉ፣BSBBSB: to show mercy to our fathers and to remember His holy covenant,
73. 73GAZEእን አባኬኘ አብረሃሚፍ ከከቴ ያደቹዻፍ፣BSBBSB: the oath He swore to our father Abraham, to grant us
74. 74GAZEሀርከ ዲኖተኬኛ ኬሳ ኑ ባሱዻፍ፣ አከ ኑ ሶዳ መሌ እሰ ተጃጅሉ ኑ ደንዴስሱዻፍ፣BSBBSB: deliverance from hostile hands, that we may serve Him without fear,
75. 75GAZEአከ ኑ በረ ጅሬኘኬኛ ጉቱ ቁልቁልናፊ ቀጄልናን፣ ፉለሳ ዱረት ተጃጅሉፍ ዋን ከነ ጎዼ።BSBBSB: in holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our lives.
76. 76GAZE“ያ ሙጫኮ፣ አት ራጂ ዋቀ ዋን ሁንዱማ ኦሊ ንጄዸምተ፤ አት ከራሳ ቆጴሱፍ ፉለ ጎፍታ ዱረ ንዴምታቲ፤BSBBSB: And you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for Him,
77. 77GAZEኩንስ አከ አት ዺፈመ ጩቡ አርገቹሳኒቲን ቤኩምሰ ፈይና ሰበሳቲፍ ኬንቱፍ፤BSBBSB: to give to His people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins,
78. 78GAZEሰበቢ አራረ ዋቀኬኛ ከን ገረ ላፍናን ጉተሜ ከን በሪን ፈይና ሰሚራ እቲን ኑ በርኡ፣BSBBSB: because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the Dawn will visit us from on high,
79. 79GAZEወረ ዱከነ ኬሰ፣ ጋድዱ ዱኣ ጀለ ጅረኒፍ አከ እፈ ኬኑፍ፤ ሚለኬኘስ ከራ ነጋረ ዴምስሱፍ።”BSBBSB: to shine on those who live in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”
