1. 1GMVEዪሳቂ ጪሚን ኢዛ ኣይፌይ ጼሎ ኢጺዳ ዎዴ ባስ ባይራ ናዛ ኤሳዌ ጼይጊዲ ኢዛ፥ «ታ ናዞ!» ጊዴስ። ሂስቲን ኢዚ፥ «ዬ!» ጊ ኮዪዴስ።BSBBSB: When Isaac was old and his eyes were so weak that he could no longer see, he called his older son Esau and said to him, “My son.” “Here I am,” Esau replied.
2. 2GMVEኢዚካ፥ «ቤያ! ሃኢ ታኒ ጪማዲስ፤ ታኒ ኣይዴ ሃይቃናኮኔ ታ ሃይቃና ጋላስ ኤሪኬ።BSBBSB: “Look,” said Isaac, “I am now old, and I do not know the day of my death.
3. 3GMVEሄሳ ጊሻስ ሃኢ ኔ ኢዛራ ሻንካቲዛ ቶራ ኤካዳ ባዞ ባዳ ዶኣ ሻንካታዳ ታስ ኣሾ ኤካዳ ያ።BSBBSB: Take your weapons—your quiver and bow—and go out into the field to hunt some game for me.
4. 4GMVEታ ዶሲዛ ማልኦ ቁማ ካꬃዳ ታስ ኣꬃ፤ ሄሲካ ታኒ ሃይቃናፔ ካሴ ኔና ኣንጃናሳ» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: Then prepare a tasty dish that I love and bring it to me to eat, so that I may bless you before I die.”
5. 5GMVEኢርቢቃይ ዪሳቂ ባ ና ኤሳዌስ ዮቲዛይሳ ሄ ዎዴ ሲያዱስ፤ ኤሳዌይ ዶኣ ሻንካቲዲ ኤሃናስ ባዞ ቢን፥BSBBSB: Now Rebekah was listening to what Isaac told his son Esau. So when Esau went into the field to hunt game and bring it back,
6. 6GMVEኢርቢቃይ ባ ናዛ ያቆቤ፥ «ኔ ኣዋይ ኔ ኢሻ ኤሳዌ፥BSBBSB: Rebekah said to her son Jacob, “Behold, I overheard your father saying to your brother Esau,
7. 7GMVE‹ዶኣ ሻንካታ ኤሃዳ ታ ማና ማላ ታስ ማልኦ ቁማ ካꬃ፤ ሂስቲኮ ታ ሃይቆንታ ዳሼ ጎዳ ሲንꬃን ኔና ኣንጃና› ጊሺን ታኒ ሲያዲስ።BSBBSB: ‘Bring me some game and prepare me a tasty dish to eat, so that I may bless you in the presence of the LORD before I die.’
8. 8GMVEታ ናዞ! ሃኢ ታኒ ኔና ኣዛዚዛይሳ ሎኤꬃዳ ሲያ።BSBBSB: Now, my son, listen to my voice and do exactly as I tell you.
9. 9GMVEዉዴዛ ጋርስ ባዳ ናምኡ ኣንቃራ ዴይሻ ላቃታ ታስ ኤካዳ ያ፤ ኔ ኤሂኮ ታኒ ኔ ኣዋስ ማልኦ ቁማ ኢዚ ዶሲዛ ማላ ካꬃና።BSBBSB: Go out to the flock and bring me two choice young goats, so that I can make them into a tasty dish for your father—the kind he loves.
10. 10GMVEኔ ኣዋይ ሃይቆንታ ዲሼ ሚዲ ኔና ኣንጃና ማላ ኤሃዳ ሚዛ» ጋዱስ።BSBBSB: Then take it to your father to eat, so that he may bless you before he dies.”
11. 11GMVEጊዶ ኣቲን ያቆቤይ ባ ኣዮ ኢርቢቃስ፥ «ታ ኢሻ ኤሳዌ ቦላን ኢስኬይ ዴስ፤ ጊዶ ኣቲን ታ ቦላይ ሊቆ።BSBBSB: Jacob answered his mother Rebekah, “Look, my brother Esau is a hairy man, but I am smooth-skinned.
12. 12GMVEታ ኣዋይ ታና ኦይኪ ቤይኮቺ? ታኒ ኢዛ ጪሚዛ ኢዛስ ሚሳቲኮ ታኒ ኣንጆ ኣጋዳ ቃንጌꬃ ታ ቦላ ኤሃናኮ» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: What if my father touches me? Then I would be revealed to him as a deceiver, and I would bring upon myself a curse rather than a blessing.”
13. 13GMVEኢዛ ኣዬያ ኢዛ፥ «ታ ናዞ! ሄ ቃንጌꬃይ ታና ጋኮ። ታኒ ኔስ ዮቲዛይሳ ኔ ኦꬃ፤ ባዳ ዴይሻ ላቃታ ታስ ኤካ ያ» ጋዱስ።BSBBSB: His mother replied, “Your curse be on me, my son. Just obey my voice and go get them for me.”
14. 14GMVEኢዚ ኤሂዲ ባ ኣዬይስ ኢሚን ኣዬያ ማልኦ ቁማ ኢዛ ኣዋይ ዶሲዳ ማላ ማልኤꬃ ካꬃዱስ።BSBBSB: So Jacob went and got two goats and brought them to his mother, who made the tasty food his father loved.
15. 15GMVEሄሳፌ ጉዬ ኢርቢቃይ ሶን ባ ኣቻን ዲዛ ባ ባይራ ና ኤሳዌ ሎኦ ማይኦ ኤሃዳ ካሎ ናዛ ያቆቤ ማይዛዱስ።BSBBSB: And Rebekah took the finest clothes in the house that belonged to her older son Esau, and she put them on her younger son Jacob.
16. 16GMVEቃሴ ሄ ዴይሻታ ኢቴ ኢዛ ኩሼኒኔ ኢዛ ቆꬌን ማይዛዱስ።BSBBSB: She also put the skins of the young goats on his hands and on the smooth part of his neck.
17. 17GMVEሂስታዳ ባ ካꬂዳ ማልኦ ቁማኔ ኡኬꬃ ባ ና ያቆቤ ኩሼን ዎꬃዱስ።BSBBSB: Then she handed her son Jacob the tasty food and bread she had made.
18. 18GMVEሂስቲን ኢዚ ባ ኣዋኮ ቢ ጌሊዲ፥ «ታ ኣዋዉ!» ጊዴስ። ኢዚካ፥ «ዬ! ታ ናዞ! ኔኒ ኦኔ?» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: So Jacob went to his father and said, “My father.” “Here I am!” he answered. “Which one are you, my son?”
19. 19GMVEያቆቤይ ባ ኣዋስ፥ «ታኒ ኔ ባይራ ና ኤሳዌ፤ ኔኒ ታና ኣዛዚዳ ማላ ታኒ ኦꬃዲስ፤ ሱራዳ፥ ታኒ ሻንካታ ኤሂዳይሳ ማ፤ ሂስታዳ ታና ኣንጃ» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: Jacob said to his father, “I am Esau, your firstborn. I have done as you told me. Please sit up and eat some of my game, so that you may bless me.”
20. 20GMVEዪሳቂ ያቆቤ፥ «ታ ናዞ! ዎስታ ኤሶን ዴማዲ?» ጊ ኦይቺዴስ። ኢዚካ፥ «ጎዳይ ኔ ጾሲ ታና ማዲና» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: But Isaac asked his son, “How did you ever find it so quickly, my son?” “Because the LORD your God brought it to me,” he replied.
21. 21GMVEዪሳቂ ያቆቤ፥ «ታ ናዞ! ኔኒ ቱሙ ታ ና ኤሳዌኮኔ ታኒ ኔና ኦይካ ቤኣናስ ኣኔ ታኮ ሃ ሺቃ» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: Then Isaac said to Jacob, “Please come closer so I can touch you, my son. Are you really my son Esau, or not?”
22. 22GMVEያቆቤይ ባ ኣዋ ዪሳቃኮ ሺቂን ኦይኪ ቤኢዲ፥ «ሃይሲ ቃላይ ያቆቤ ቃላ ሺን ኩሼይ ኤሳዌ ኩሼ» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: So Jacob came close to his father Isaac, who touched him and said, “The voice is the voice of Jacob, but the hands are the hands of Esau.”
23. 23GMVEኢዛ ኩሼይ ኢዛ ኢሻ ኤሳዌ ኩሼꬆ ኢስኬራ ዲዛ ጊሻስ ኤሮንታ ኢዛ ኣንጂዴስ።BSBBSB: Isaac did not recognize him, because his hands were hairy like those of his brother Esau; so he blessed him.
24. 24GMVEኢዛ፥ «ቱሙ ኔኒ ታ ና ኤሳዌ?» ጊ ኦይቺዴስ። ኢዚካ፥ «ኤ ታናኮ!» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: Again he asked, “Are you really my son Esau?” And he replied, “I am.”
25. 25GMVEኢዚካ፥ «ታ ናዞ! ታኒ ኔኒ ሻንካቲዳይሳ ማናስ ሃ ኣꬃ፤ ማዳ ታኒ ኔና ኣንጃና» ጊዴስ። ያቆቤይ ኣꬂን ኢዚ ሚዴስ፤ ዎይኔ ኡሻካ ኤሂን ኡዪዴስ።BSBBSB: “Serve me,” said Isaac, “and let me eat some of my son’s game, so that I may bless you.” Jacob brought it to him, and he ate; then he brought him wine, and he drank.
26. 26GMVEሄሳፌ ጉዬ ኢዛ ኣዋ ዪሳቂ፥ «ታ ናዞ! ሃ ሺቃዳ ታና ዬራ» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: Then his father Isaac said to him, “Please come near and kiss me, my son.”
27. 27GMVEያቆቤይ ሺቂዲ ኢዛ ዬሪዴስ፤ ዪሳቂ ኢዛ ማይኦ ሲንጊ ሲዪዲ፥ «ታ ናዛ ፔኖይ ጎዳይ ኣንጂዳ ጎሻ ማላ ሳዌስ።BSBBSB: So he came near and kissed him. When Isaac smelled his clothing, he blessed him and said: “Ah, the smell of my son is like the smell of a field that the LORD has blessed.
28. 28GMVEጾሲ ሳሎ ኢራኔ ሳኣ ኣንጆ፥ ካꬂኔ ኦራꬃ ዎይኔ ኡሹ ፓላሂሲዲ ኔስ ኢሞ።BSBBSB: May God give to you the dew of heaven and the richness of the earth—an abundance of grain and new wine.
29. 29GMVEካዎቴꬃቲ ኔስ ሃሬቴቶ፤ ኣሲ ዉሪ ኔስ ጉልባቶ፤ ኔኒ ኔ ኢሻታስ ጎዳ ጊዳ፤ ኔ ኣዬይ ዜሬꬂ ኔስ ጉልባቶ፤ ኔና ቃንጊዛይ ቃንጌቲዳዝ ጊዶ፤ ኔና ኣንጂዛይ ኣንጄቲዳይሳ ጊዶ» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: May peoples serve you and nations bow down to you. May you be the master of your brothers, and may the sons of your mother bow down to you. May those who curse you be cursed, and those who bless you be blessed.”
30. 30GMVEዪሳቂ ያቆቤ ኣንጂ ዉርሲዳፔ ጉዬ ያቆቤይ ባ ኣዋ ዪሳቃ ሲንꬃፌ ኬዚዳ ማላ ኤሳዌይ ሻንካፌ ፑቱ ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: As soon as Isaac had finished blessing him and Jacob had left his father’s presence, his brother Esau returned from the hunt.
31. 31GMVEኢዚካ ቃሴ ማልኦ ቁማ ካꬂዲ ባ ኣዋስ ኣꬂዴስ፤ ኣꬂዲ ኢዛ፥ «ታ ኣዋዉ! ሱራዳ ሃይሳ ታኒ ሻንካቲዳይሳፌ ማ፤ ሂስታዳ ታና ኣንጃ» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: He too made some tasty food, brought it to his father, and said to him, “My father, sit up and eat of your son’s game, so that you may bless me.”
32. 32GMVEሂስቲን ኣዋይ ዪሳቂ ኢዛ፥ «ኔ ኦኔ?» ጊ ኦይቺዴስ። ኢዚ፥ «ታኒ ኔስ ባይራ ናዛ ኤሳዌ» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: But his father Isaac replied, “Who are you?” “I am Esau, your firstborn son,” he answered.
33. 33GMVEዪሳቂ ዳጋሚዲ ኮኮሪሼ፥ «ሂስቲን ዶኣ ሻንካቲዳይሳ ኤኪዲ ታስ ኣꬂዳይ ኦኔ? ታኒ ሃኢ ኔኒ ያናፔ ሲንꬄ ማዳ ኢዛ ኣንጃዲስ፤ ቱሙካ ኢዚ ኣንጄቲዳይሳ ጊዳና» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: Isaac began to tremble violently and said, “Who was it, then, who hunted the game and brought it to me? Before you came in, I ate it all and blessed him—and indeed, he will be blessed!”
34. 34GMVEኤሳዌይ ባ ኣዋ ቃላ ሲዪዳ ማላ ባ ቃላ ꬎቁ ሂስታዲ ዳሮ ጫሞ ዬሆ ዬኪዲ ባ ኣዋ፥ «ታና ኣንጃ፤ ታ ኣዋዉ ታናካ ኣንጃ!» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: When Esau heard his father’s words, he let out a loud and bitter cry and said to his father, “Bless me too, O my father!”
35. 35GMVEጊዶ ኣቲን ኢዚ፥ «ኔ ኢሻይ ዪዲ ታና ጪሚዲ ኔ ኣንጆ ኤኪቺዴስ» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: But Isaac replied, “Your brother came deceitfully and took your blessing.”
36. 36GMVEኤሳዌይ፥ «ኢዛ ኤሪዲ ያቆቤ ጊ ሱንꬂዴስ፤ ኢዚ ታና ጪሚሺን ሃይሲ ናምኣንꬆ፤ ኢዚ ታ ባይራቴꬃ ኤኪዴስ፤ ቃሴ ሃኢካ ታ ኣንጆ ኤኪዴስ» ጊዴስ፤ ቃሴ ዛሪዲ ባ ኣዋ፥ «ኔኒ ታስ ኣንጆፌ ኣይኮካ ኣሻቤኪ?» ጊ ኦይቺዴስ።BSBBSB: So Esau declared, “Is he not rightly named Jacob? For he has cheated me twice. He took my birthright, and now he has taken my blessing.” Then he asked, “Haven’t you saved a blessing for me?”
37. 37GMVEዪሳቂ ኤሳዌስ፥ «ታኒ ኢዛ ኔ ቦላ ጎዳታና ማላ፥ ኢዛ ኢሻቲ ኢዛስ ኦꬃና ማላ፥ ካꬂኔ ዎይኔ ኡሺ ፓላሃና ማላ ኣንጃዲስ፤ ሂስቲን ታ ናዞ ታ ኔስ ሃኢ ኣይ ኦꬃና ዳንዳያዚና?» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: But Isaac answered Esau: “Look, I have made him your master and given him all his relatives as servants; I have sustained him with grain and new wine. What is left that I can do for you, my son?”
38. 38GMVEኤሳዌይ ባ ኣዋ፥ «ታ ኣዋዉ ኔስ ዲዛይ ኢሲ ኣንጆ ጻላ? ታ ኣዋዉ! ታናካ ኣንጃርኪ!» ጊዴስ። ሄሳፌ ጉዬ ኤሳዌይ ባ ቃላ ꬎቁ ሂስቲዲ ዬኪዴስ።BSBBSB: Esau said to his father, “Do you have only one blessing, my father? Bless me too, O my father!” Then Esau wept aloud.
39. 39GMVEኢዛ ኣዋ ዪሳቂ ዛሪዲ፥ «ኔ ዲዛሶይ ሃ ሳኣ ዱሬቴꬃፌ ሃካና፤ ሳሎ ኢራይካ ኔስ ቡኬና።BSBBSB: His father Isaac answered him: “Behold, your dwelling place shall be away from the richness of the land, away from the dew of heaven above.
40. 40GMVEኔኒ ኔ ጊꬃ ማሻን ኣቃና፤ ኔኒ ኔ ኢሻስ ሃሬታና፤ ጊዶ ኣቲን ኔኒ ኢዛራ ኤቄቲኮ ኢዛ ቃምባራ ኔ ሞርጌፌ ዲጋና» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: You shall live by the sword and serve your brother. But when you rebel, you will tear his yoke from your neck.”
41. 41GMVEኣዋይ ያቆቤ ኣንጂዳ ጊሻስ ኤሳዌይ ያቆቤ ኬሂ ኢጺዴስ፤ ኢዚ ባ ዎዚናራ፥ «ታ ኣዋይ ሃይቃና ማቲዴስ፤ ኢዚ ሃይቂዳ ማላ ታ ኢሻ ያቆቤ ታ ዎꬋና» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: Esau held a grudge against Jacob because of the blessing his father had given him. And Esau said in his heart, “The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then I will kill my brother Jacob.”
42. 42GMVEጊዶቲን ኢርቢቃይ ሃይሳ ባ ባይራ ናዛ ኤሳዌ ቃላ ሲዪዳ ጊሻስ ባ ካሎ ና ያቆቤ ጼይጊሳ ኤሃዳ፥ «ኔ ኢሻይ ኤሳዌይ ኔና ዎꬊዲ ሃሎ ኬሳናስ ኮዬስ።BSBBSB: When the words of her older son Esau were relayed to Rebekah, she sent for her younger son Jacob and told him, “Look, your brother Esau is consoling himself by plotting to kill you.
43. 43GMVEሃኢካ ታ ናዞ፥ ታኒ ኔስ ዮቲዛይሳ ኦꬃ። ዴንዳ! ዴንዳዳ ካራኔን ዲዛ ታ ኢሻ ላባኮ ባቃታ!BSBBSB: So now, my son, obey my voice and flee at once to my brother Laban in Haran.
44. 44GMVEሂስታዳ ኔ ኢሻ ሃንቆይ ዶቻና ጋካናስ ኢማꬃቴꬃን ኢዛራ ዳሻ።BSBBSB: Stay with him for a while, until your brother’s fury subsides—
45. 45GMVEኔ ኢሻይ ኔስ ሃንቄቲዛይሳ ኢዚ ኣጊዛ ዎዴኔ ኔ ኢዛ ቦላ ኦꬂዳይሳ ኢዚ ባሊዛ ዎዴ ታኒ ኪታዳ ኔና ሄፔ ኤሂሳና፤ ታኒ ኢሲ ጋላስ ኢንቴፌ ናምኣታፔ ሜላ ኣታና ማላ ኮይኬ» ጋዱስ።BSBBSB: until your brother’s rage against you wanes and he forgets what you have done to him. Then I will send for you and bring you back from there. Why should I lose both of you in one day?”
46. 46GMVEሄሳፌ ጉዬ ኢርቢቃይ ዪሳቃ፥ «ኤሳዌይ ኤኪዳ ሂቴታ ማጫ ናይታ ጌዶን ዱሳይ ታና ኢቴስ፤ ቃሴ ያቆቤይካ ሄይታ ማላ ሂቴታ ማጫ ናይታፔ ማቾ ኤኪኮ ታኒ ሄኮ ሃይቃናስ ኮያይስ» ጋዱስ።BSBBSB: Then Rebekah said to Isaac, “I am weary of my life because of these Hittite women. If Jacob takes a Hittite wife from among them, what good is my life?”
