1. 1GMVEሄሳፌ ጉዬ ያቆቤይ ዴንዲ ቢዲ ኣርሼይ ሞኪዛ ባጋራ ዲዛ ኣሳታ ዴሬ ጋኪዴስ።BSBBSB: Jacob resumed his journey and came to the land of the people of the east.
2. 2GMVEሂስቲዲ ኢሲ ዴምባን ሃꬃ ኦላይ ዲዛይሳ ቤኢዴስ፤ ሄꬑ ጩጋ ዶርሲ ቃሴ ሄ ሃꬃ ኦላ ኣቻን ኢቺዴስ፤ ኣይስ ጊኮ ዉዴይ ዉሪ ሃꬅ ኡዪዛይ ሄ ኦላዛፔ፤ ሄ ሃꬃ ኦላ ዶና ቱቻ ሹቻይካ ጊታ።BSBBSB: He looked and saw a well in the field, and near it lay three flocks of sheep, because the sheep were watered from this well. And a large stone covered the mouth of the well.
3. 3GMVEዶርሳ ዉዴይ ዉሪ ሄን ሺቂዳ ዎዴ ዉዴዛ ሄሚዛይቲ ሃꬃ ኦላ ዶናፔ ሄ ሹቻ ጌንዴሪሲዲ ዶርሳ ኡሼቴስ። ኡሺዲ ሄ ሹቻ ሃꬃ ኦላን ዛሪዲ ቱጬቴስ።BSBBSB: When all the flocks had been gathered there, the shepherds would roll away the stone from the mouth of the well and water the sheep. Then they would return the stone to its place over the mouth of the well.
4. 4GMVEያቆቤይ ኢስታስ፥ «ሃይቶ! ኢንቴ ኣዋፔ ዪዴቲ?» ጊ ኦይቺዴስ። ኢስቲካ፥ «ኑኒ ካራኔፔ ዪዶስ» ጊ ዮቲን፥BSBBSB: “My brothers,” Jacob asked the shepherds, “where are you from?” “We are from Haran,” they answered.
5. 5GMVEኢዚ፥ «ናኮሬስ ናዛ ና ላባ ኤሬቲ?» ጊዴስ። ኢስቲካ፥ «ኤ፥ ኢዛ ኑ ኤሮስ» ጊዳ።BSBBSB: “Do you know Laban the grandson of Nahor?” Jacob asked. “We know him,” they replied.
6. 6GMVEያቆቤይ ኢስታስ፥ «ኢዚ ሎኦ ዲዜ?» ጊ ኦይቺን፥ «ኤ፥ ሎኦኮ፤ ኢዛ ና ኤራሄሎ ዶርስ ኤካ ዪዛሮ ሃኖ ቤያ» ጊዳ።BSBBSB: “Is he well?” Jacob inquired. “Yes,” they answered, “and here comes his daughter Rachel with his sheep.”
7. 7GMVEሂስቲን ያቆቤይ ኢስታስ፥ «ቤኢቴ! ኣርሼይ ሃኢ ꬎቃን ዴስ፤ ሜሄ ሶ ሺሺዛ ዎዴይ ቡሮ ጋኪቤና፤ ዶርሳታ ሃꬅ ኡሺዲ ኤፊ ሄሚሺቴ» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: “Look,” said Jacob, “it is still broad daylight; it is not yet time to gather the livestock. Water the sheep and take them back to pasture.”
8. 8GMVEጊዶ ኣቲን ኢስታስ፥ «ሜሄይ ዉሪ ሺቃና ጋካናስ፥ ሹቻ ሃꬃ ኦላዛ ዶናፔ ጌንዴሪሳና ጋካናስ ኑኒ ኡሻናስ ዳንዳዮኮ፤ ሄሳፌ ጉዬ ኑኒ ሜሃ ኡሻና» ጊዳ።BSBBSB: But they replied, “We cannot, until all the flocks have been gathered and the stone has been rolled away from the mouth of the well. Then we will water the sheep.”
9. 9GMVEኢዚ ቡሮ ሃሳያን ዲሺን ዶርሳታ ሄሚዛይ ኢዞ ጊዲዳ ጊሻስ ላባ ናያ ኤራሄላ ባ ኣዋ ዶርሳታ ላጋ ኤካዳ ጋካ ዎꬋዱስ።BSBBSB: While he was still speaking with them, Rachel arrived with her father’s sheep, for she was a shepherdess.
10. 10GMVEያቆቤይ ባ ኣዬይ ኢሻ ላባ ና ኤራሄሊ ዶርሳታ ቤኢዳ ዎዴ ቢዲ ኦላ ዶናፔ ሹቻ ጌንዴሪሲዲ ባ ኣዬይ ኢሻ ዶርሳታ ሃꬅ ኡሺዴስ።BSBBSB: As soon as Jacob saw Rachel, the daughter of his mother’s brother Laban, with Laban’s sheep, he went up and rolled the stone away from the mouth of the well and watered his uncle’s sheep.
11. 11GMVEያቆቤይ ኤራሄሎ ዬሪዲ ኡፋይሳፌ ዴንዲዳይሳን ባ ቃላ ꬎቂሲዲ ዬኪዴስ።BSBBSB: Then Jacob kissed Rachel and wept aloud.
12. 12GMVEያቆቤይ ኢዚስ ኣዋ ዳቦኔ ኢርቢቃ ና ጊዲዳይሳ ኤራሄሊስ ዮቲን ኢዛ ዎጻ ባዳ ባ ኣዋስ ዮታዱስ።BSBBSB: He told Rachel that he was Rebekah’s son, a relative of her father, and she ran and told her father.
13. 13GMVEላባይ ባ ሚቼይ ና ያቆቤ ዎሬ ሲዪዳ ማላ ኢዛራ ጋጋናስ ዎጺዴስ፤ ዎጺ ጋኪዲ ኢዛ ኢዲሚ ዬሪ ኤኪዲ ባ ሶ ኤፊዴስ፤ ሄን ያቆቤይ ባ ሃኒዳይሳ ኡባ ላባስ ዮቲዴስ።BSBBSB: When Laban heard the news about his sister’s son Jacob, he ran out to meet him. He embraced him and kissed him and brought him to his home, where Jacob told him all that had happened.
14. 14GMVEላባይ ኢዛ፥ «ኔኒ ቱሙ ታ ኣሾኔ ታ ሱꬃ» ጊዴስ። ያቆቤይ ኢዛራ ኢሲ ኣጊና ኩሜꬅ ኡቲዴስ።BSBBSB: Then Laban declared, “You are indeed my own flesh and blood.” After Jacob had stayed with him a month,
15. 15GMVEሄሳፌ ጉዬ ላባይ ኢዛ፥ «ኔኒ ታስ ዳቦ ጊዲዳ ጊሻስ ታስ ጮ ሜላ ኦꬃኔ? ኣኔ ኔስ ኣይ ቃንጻናስ ቤሲዛኮ ታስ ዮታ» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: Laban said to him, “Just because you are my relative, should you work for nothing? Tell me what your wages should be.”
16. 16GMVEላባስ ናምኡ ማጫ ናይቲ ዴቴስ፤ ባይራይ ሱንꬂ ሊያ፥ ካሎያ ኤራሄሎ።BSBBSB: Now Laban had two daughters; the older was named Leah, and the younger was named Rachel.
17. 17GMVEሊያ ኣይፌይ ሾላ፤ ኤራሄሊ ኣይፌይ ጊዲኮ ሎኦ።BSBBSB: Leah had weak eyes, but Rachel was shapely and beautiful.
18. 18GMVEያቆቤይ ኤራሄሎ ሲቂዳ ጊሻስ፥ «ታኒ ኔስ ካሎ ናዮ ኤራሄሊ ጊሻስ ኔስ ላፑን ላይꬅ ኦꬃና» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: Since Jacob loved Rachel, he answered, “I will serve you seven years for your younger daughter Rachel.”
19. 19GMVEላባይ፥ «ኢዞ ሃራ ኣሳስ ኢማናፔ ኔስ ኢሚዛይሲ ሎኦ፤ ኔኒ ታናራ ሃይሳን ዴያ» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: Laban replied, “Better that I give her to you than to another. Stay here with me.”
20. 20GMVEሄሳ ጊሻስ ያቆቤይ ኤራሄሎ ኤካናስ ላፑን ላይꬅ ኦꬂዴስ፤ ጊዶ ኣቲን ኢዚ ኢዞ ሲቂዛ ጊሻስ ኢዛስ ዎዴዚ ኬሂ ቃንꬅ ሚሳቲዴስ።BSBBSB: So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, yet it seemed but a few days because of his love for her.
21. 21GMVEሄሳፌ ጉዬ ያቆቤይ ላባ፥ «ታ ማቾ ታስ ኢማ፤ ታ ዎዴይ ዉሪዴስ፤ ታኒ ኢዞ ኤካና ኮያይስ» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: Finally Jacob said to Laban, “Grant me my wife, for my time is complete, and I want to sleep with her.”
22. 22GMVEሄሳ ጊሻስ ላባይ ሄን ዲዛ ኡባ ኣሳ ጼይጊ ሺሺዲ፥ ቡላቻ ኬሲዴስ።BSBBSB: So Laban invited all the men of that place and prepared a feast.
23. 23GMVEጊዶ ኣቲን ጋዴይ ቃሚን ኢዚ ባ ና ሊያ ኤፊዲ ያቆቤስ ኢሚዴስ፤ ያቆቤይካ ኢዞ ኤኪዴስ።BSBBSB: But when evening came, Laban took his daughter Leah and gave her to Jacob, and he slept with her.
24. 24GMVEቃሴ ላባይ ባ ኣይሌዮ ዚልፎ ባ ና ሊያስ ኣይሌ ጊዳና ማላ ኢሚዴስ።BSBBSB: And Laban gave his servant girl Zilpah to his daughter Leah as her maidservant.
25. 25GMVEጋዴይ ዎንቲን ጼሊዛ ዎዴ ሄኮ ሊያ ጊዳዱስ! ሂስቲን ያቆቤይ ላባ፥ «ሃይሲ ኔኒ ታ ቦላ ኦꬂዳይሲ ኣዜ? ታኒ ኔስ ኦꬂዳይ ኤራሄሊ ጊሻስ ዴኔ? ታና ኣይስ ጪማዲ?» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: When morning came, there was Leah! “What have you done to me?” Jacob said to Laban. “Wasn’t it for Rachel that I served you? Why have you deceived me?”
26. 26GMVEላባይ ኢዛ፥ «ኑ ቢታን ባይራያ ዲሺን ካሎዮ ኣዚናስ ኢሚዛይሲ ዎጋ ዴና።BSBBSB: Laban replied, “It is not our custom here to give the younger daughter in marriage before the older.
27. 27GMVEሄ ሚሺራቴꬃ ሳሚንታ ኡባ ዉርሳ፤ ቃሴ ካሎቲዛሮካ ኑኒ ኔስ ኢማና፤ ሄሳፌ ጉዬ ሃራ ላፑን ላይꬅ ታስ ኦꬃሳ» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: Finish this week’s celebration, and we will give you the younger one in return for another seven years of work.”
28. 28GMVEያቆቤይ ሄሳꬆ ሃኒዲ ሄ ሳሚንታ ዉርሲዴስ፤ ሄሳፌ ጉዬ ላባይ ባ ናዮ ኤራሄሎ ኢዛስ ኢሚዴስ።BSBBSB: And Jacob did just that. He finished the week’s celebration, and Laban gave him his daughter Rachel as his wife.
29. 29GMVEቃሴ ላባይ ባ ኣይሌዮ ቢሊሃ ባ ና ኤራሄሊስ ኣይሌ ጊዳና ማላ ኢሚዴስ።BSBBSB: Laban also gave his servant girl Bilhah to his daughter Rachel as her maidservant.
30. 30GMVEያቆቤይ ኤራሄሎካ ኤኪዴስ፤ ኤራሄሎ ሊያፔ ኣꬂ ሲቂዴስ፤ ሃራ ላፑን ላይꬅ ላባስ ኦꬂዴስ።BSBBSB: Jacob slept with Rachel as well, and indeed, he loved Rachel more than Leah. So he worked for Laban another seven years.
31. 31GMVEያቆቤይ ሊያ ኤራሄሊ ማላ ሲቆንታይሳ ቤኢዲ ጎዳይ ኢዚስ ዬሊዛ ኡሎዛ ዶይዴስ፤ ጊዶ ኣቲን ኤራሄሊስ ናይ ባ።BSBBSB: When the LORD saw that Leah was unloved, He opened her womb; but Rachel was barren.
32. 32GMVEሊያይ ሻራዳ ኣቱማ ና ዬላዱስ፤ ኢዛ ሱንꬃካ ኦሮቤሌ ጋ ሱንꬃዱስ፤ ኣይስ ጊኮ ኢዛ፥ «ጎዳይ ታ ሜቶ ቤኢዴስ፤ ሃኢ ቱሙ ታና ታ ኣዚናይ ሲቃና» ጋዱስ።BSBBSB: And Leah conceived and gave birth to a son, and she named him Reuben, for she said, “The LORD has seen my affliction. Surely my husband will love me now.”
33. 33GMVEኢዛ ቃሴካ ሻራዳ ሃኢካ ኣቱማ ና ዬላዱስ፤ ኢዛ፥ «ጎዳይ ታኒ ዶሴቶንታይሳ ቤኢዳ ጊሻስ ታስ ሃይሳካ ጉጂዴስ» ጋዳ ኢዛ ሲሞና ጋ ሱንꬃዱስ።BSBBSB: Again she conceived and gave birth to a son, and she said, “Because the LORD has heard that I am unloved, He has given me this son as well.” So she named him Simeon.
34. 34GMVEኢዛ ቃሴካ ሻራዳ ኣቱማ ና ዬላዱስ፤ ኢዛ፥ «ታኒ ኢዛስ ሄꬑ ኣቱማ ናይታ ዬሊዳ ጊሻስ ታ ኣዚናይ ባ ዎዚና ታኮ ዛራና» ጋዳ ኢዛ ሌዌ ጋ ሱንꬃዱስ።BSBBSB: Once again Leah conceived and gave birth to a son, and she said, “Now at last my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” So he was named Levi.
35. 35GMVEኢዛ ቃሴካ ቃንꬃታዳ ኣቱማ ና ዬላዳ ኢዛ፥ «ሂኣ ታኒ ጎዳ ጋላታና» ጋዱስ፤ ሄሳ ጊሻስ ኢዛ ዩሁዳ ጋ ሱንꬃዱስ፤ ሄሳፌ ጉዬ ዬሎ ኤሳዱስ።BSBBSB: And once more she conceived and gave birth to a son and said, “This time I will praise the LORD.” So she named him Judah. Then Leah stopped having children.
