1. 1GMVEላባ ኣቱማ ናይቲ ባ ጊዶን፥ «ያቆቤይ ኑ ኣዋ ሃሮ ኡባ ኤኪዴስ፤ ሃይሲ ኡባይ ኢዚ ሺሺዳ ኣቆታይ ኑ ኣዋፔ ቤቲዳዛ» ጊ ሃሳይሺን ያቆቤይ ሲዪዴስ።BSBBSB: Now Jacob heard that Laban’s sons were saying, “Jacob has taken away all that belonged to our father and built all this wealth at our father’s expense.”
2. 2GMVEያቆቤይ ላባ ኣይፌሶይ ኢዛስ ካሴ ማላ ጊዶንታይሳ ቤኢዴስ።BSBBSB: And Jacob saw from the countenance of Laban that his attitude toward him had changed.
3. 3GMVEሄ ዎዴ ጎዳይ ያቆቤ፥ «ኔኒ ኔ ኣዋታ ቢታ ኔ ዳቦታኮ ጉዬ ሲማ፤ ታኒ ኔናራ ጊዳና» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: Then the LORD said to Jacob, “Go back to the land of your fathers and to your kindred, and I will be with you.”
4. 4GMVEሄሳ ጊሻስ ያቆቤይ ኤራሄሎኔ ሊያ ባ ሜሄይ ዲዛሶ ያና ማላ ኪቲዲ ጼይጊሲዴስ።BSBBSB: So Jacob sent word and called Rachel and Leah to the field where his flocks were,
5. 5GMVEኢዚ ኢስታስ፥ «ኢንቴ ኣዋ ኣይፌሶይ ታስ ካሴይሳ ማላ ጊዶንታይሳ ታኒ ቤኣዲስ፤ ጊዶ ኣቲን ታ ኣዋ ጾሲ ታናራ ዴስ።BSBBSB: and he told them, “I can see from your father’s countenance that his attitude toward me has changed; but the God of my father has been with me.
6. 6GMVEታኒ ታ ኩሜꬃ ዎልቃፌ ኢንቴ ኣዋስ ኦꬂዳይሳ ኢንቴ ኤሬታ።BSBBSB: You know that I have served your father with all my strength.
7. 7GMVEጊዶ ኣቲን ኢንቴ ኣዋይ ታና ጪሚዲ ታ ዳሞዛ ታሙቶ ላሚ ላሚ ዬጊዴስ፤ ጊዲኮካ ኢዚ ታና ቆሆንታ ማላ ጾሲ ኢዛ ዲጊዴስ።BSBBSB: And although he has cheated me and changed my wages ten times, God has not allowed him to harm me.
8. 8GMVEኢዚ፥ ‹ማሳራ ዶርሳቲኔ ዴይሻቲ ኔ ዳሞዛ ጊዳና› ጊን ዉዴ ሜሄቲ ዉሪ ማሳራ ጻላ ዬሊዳ፤ ቃሴ ኢዚ፥ ‹ጻላቃ ዶርሳቲኔ ዴይሻቲካ ኔ ዳሞዛ ጊዳና› ጊን ሜሄይ ዉሪ ጻላቃ ዬሊዴስ።BSBBSB: If he said, ‘The speckled will be your wages,’ then the whole flock bore speckled offspring. If he said, ‘The streaked will be your wages,’ then the whole flock bore streaked offspring.
9. 9GMVEጾሲ ሃይሳꬆ ኢንቴ ኣዋፔ ዎꬂ ኤኪዲ ኢንቴ ኣዋ ሜሄ ታስ ኢሚዴስ።BSBBSB: Thus God has taken away your father’s livestock and given them to me.
10. 10GMVE«ሜሄቲ ሜሄቴꬅ ኬዚዛ ኣጊናን ኣጉሞራ ሜሄታ ሜሄሲዛ ዴይሻ ኦርጌቲ ማሳራ፥ ጻላቃኔ ባታካ ጊዲዳይሳ ቤያዲስ።BSBBSB: When the flocks were breeding, I saw in a dream that the streaked, spotted, and speckled males were mating with the females.
11. 11GMVEጾሳ ኪታንቻይ ኣጉሞን ታና፥ ‹ያቆቤ!› ጊ ጼይጊን ታኒ፥ ‹ዬ!› ጋዳ ኮያዲስ።BSBBSB: In that dream the angel of God said to me, ‘Jacob!’ And I replied, ‘Here I am.’
12. 12GMVEኢዚካ ታና፥ ‹ꬎቁ ጋዳ ሜሄታ ሜሄቲሲዛ ዴይሻ ኦርጌቲ ዉሪ ማሳራኔ ጻላቃ ጊዲዳይሳ ቤያ፤ ጋሶይካ ላባይ ኔ ቦላ ኦꬂዛይሳ ኡባ ታ ቤያዲስ።BSBBSB: ‘Look up,’ he said, ‘and see that all the males that are mating with the flock are streaked, spotted, or speckled; for I have seen all that Laban has done to you.
13. 13GMVEኔኒ ሹች ኤሳዳ ዛይቴ ኢዛ ቦላ ቲጋዳ ኣዲኒዳ ቤቴሌ ጾሲ ታና፤ ሃኢ ዴንዳዳ ሃ ቢታፌ ኬዛዳ ኤሌላዳ ጉዬ ኔ ዬሌቲዳ ቢታ ሲማ› » ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed the pillar and made a solemn vow to Me. Now get up, leave this land at once, and return to your native land.’”
14. 14GMVEሄሳፌ ጉዬ ኤራሄላኔ ሊያይ ኢዛስ፥ «ኑ ኣዋይሳፌ ኑና ጋካናይ ኣዜ?BSBBSB: And Rachel and Leah replied, “Do we have any portion or inheritance left in our father’s house?
15. 15GMVEኢዚ ኑና ኣላጋ ማላ ጼሌስ ዴኔ? ኢዚ ኑና ባይዚ ኤኪዴስ፤ ባይዚዲ ኤኪዳ ሚሻካ ባስ ሚ ꬋይሲዴስ።BSBBSB: Are we not regarded by him as outsiders? Not only has he sold us, but he has certainly squandered what was paid for us.
16. 16GMVEጾሲ ኑ ኣዋፔ ዎꬂ ኤኪዲ ኔስ ኢሚዳ ሜሄይ ዉሪ ቱሙካ ኑሳኔ ኑ ናይታይሳ፤ ሄሳ ጊሻስ ጾሲ ኔስ ዮቲዳይሳ ኡባ ኦꬃ» ጊዳ።BSBBSB: Surely all the wealth that God has taken away from our father belongs to us and to our children. So do whatever God has told you.”
17. 17GMVEሂስቲን ያቆቤይ ካናኔ ቢታን ዲዛ ባ ኣዋ ዪሳቃኮ ባናስ ዴንዲዴስ፤ ኢዚ ባ ናይታኔ ባ ማቼታ ጋሜላ ቶጊሲዴስ፤ ባስ ዲዛ ሜሄ ኡባ ሲንꬄ ኣꬂ ላጊዲ ሜስጴጾሚያን ዲሼ ኢዚ ሺሺዳ ሃሮ ኡባ ኤኪ ቢዴስ።BSBBSB: Then Jacob got up and put his children and his wives on camels,
18. 19GMVEላባይ ባ ዶርሳታ ኢስኬዛ ቃንጻናስ ቢቺዳሼ ኤራሄላ ባ ኣዋ ኤቃ ሚስሌታ ካይሳዱስ።BSBBSB: Now while Laban was out shearing his sheep, Rachel stole her father’s household idols.
19. 20GMVEያቆቤይካ ባ ባቃቲዛይሳ ኣራሜ ዴሬ ኣሲ ጊዲዳ ላባስ ዮቶንታ ባሌꬂ ቢዴስ።BSBBSB: Moreover, Jacob deceived Laban the Aramean by not telling him that he was running away.
20. 21GMVEኢዚ ባስ ዲዛዝ ኡባ ሺሺ ኤኪ ባቃቲዲ ኤፊራጺሴ ሻፋ ፒኒዲ ጋላኣዴ ጌቴቲዛ ጌዜ ቢታ ቢዴስ።BSBBSB: So he fled with all his possessions, crossed the Euphrates, and headed for the hill country of Gilead.
21. 22GMVEያቆቤይ ባቃቲ ቢዳይሳ ላባይ ሄꬓንꬆ ጋላስ ሲዪዴስ።BSBBSB: On the third day Laban was informed that Jacob had fled.
22. 23GMVEባ ዳቦታ ባናራ ኤኪዲ ላፑን ጋላሳ ኦጌ ያቆቤ ጉዬ ካሊዲ ካሊዲ ጋላኣዴ ጌቴቲዛ ጌዜ ቢታን ኢዛ ጋኪ ኦይኪዴስ።BSBBSB: So he took his relatives with him, pursued Jacob for seven days, and overtook him in the hill country of Gilead.
23. 24GMVEሄ ጋላሳ ኦማርስ ጾሲ ኣራሜ ላባኮ ኣጉሞራ ዪዲ፥ «ኔኒ ያቆቤ ቦላ ኢታ ጊዲን ኪያ ጊዲንካ ሃሳዮንታ ማላ ናጌታ!» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: But that night God came to Laban the Aramean in a dream and warned him, “Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.”
24. 25GMVEላባይ ጋኪዛ ዎዴ ያቆቤይ ጋላኣዴ ጌዜን ዱንካኒ ኡቲዴስ፤ ቃሴ ላባይኔ ኢዛ ዳቦቲ ሄን ዱንካኔ ቶኪዳ።BSBBSB: Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the hill country of Gilead when Laban overtook him, and Laban and his relatives camped there as well.
25. 26GMVEሄሳፌ ጉዬ ላባይ ያቆቤ፥ «ኔኒ ሃይሳꬆ ኣይስ ኦꬃዲ? ኔኒ ታና ጪማዳ ታ ማጫ ናይታ ኦላን ዲኤቲዳ ማላ ላጋዳ ኬሳዳሳ።BSBBSB: Then Laban said to Jacob, “What have you done? You have deceived me and carried off my daughters like captives of war!
26. 27GMVEኔኒ ኣይስ ቆታን ታፔ ኬሳ ኤካዳ ታና ጪማዲ? ታኒ ካራቤኒኔ ዲꬃን ኡፋይሳ ዬꬃን ኔና ሞይዛና ማላ ታስ ኣይስ ዮታቤኪ?BSBBSB: Why did you run away secretly and deceive me, without even telling me? I would have sent you away with joy and singing, with tambourines and harps.
27. 28GMVEኔኒ ሃራይ ኣቶ ታ ናይታ ናይታኔ ታ ማጫ ናይታ ታኒ ዬራ ኤኮንታ ማላ ዲጋዳሳ፤ ኔኒ ባላ ኦሶ ኦꬃዳሳ።BSBBSB: But you did not even let me kiss my grandchildren and my daughters goodbye. Now you have done a foolish thing.
28. 29GMVEታኒ ኔና ቆሃናስ ታስ ዎልቃይ ዴስ፤ ጊዶ ኣቲን ኔ ኣዋ ጾሲ ቃማ ኦማርስ ታና፥ ‹ያቆቤ ቦላ ኢታ ጊዲን ኪያ ጊዲንካ ኢሲ ሚሽ ኔ ሃሳዮንታ ማላ ናጌታ!› ጊዲ ታስ ዮቲዴስ።BSBBSB: I have power to do you great harm, but last night the God of your father said to me, ‘Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.’
29. 30GMVEሃኢ ጊዲኮካ ኔኒ ኔ ኣዋ ሶ ባናስ ኬሃ ላሞቲዳ ጊሻስ ኬኣዳሳ፤ ጊዶ ኣቲን ታሶ ኤቃ ሚስሌታ ኣዛስ ካይሳዲ?» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: Now you have gone off because you long for your father’s house. But why have you stolen my gods?”
30. 31GMVEያቆቤይ ላባ፥ «ኔኒ ኔ ናይታ ታፔ ዎልቃን ዎꬃ ኤካናኮ ጋዳ ባቢዳ ጊሻስ ሃይሳꬆ ኦꬃዲስ።BSBBSB: “I was afraid,” Jacob answered, “for I thought you would take your daughters from me by force.
31. 32GMVEጊዶ ኣቲን ኔ ሚስሌታ ኦይኪዳ ኣስ ኦናካ ኔኒ ዴሚኮ ሄ ኡራይ ሃይቆ! ኔስ ጊዲዳ ሚሺ ታ ኣቻን ቤቲኮ ኑ ዳቦቲ ቤዪሺን ኮያዳ ዴሚኮ ኔስ ኤካ» ጊዴስ፤ ጋሶይካ ያቆቤይ ኤራሄላ ኤቃ ሚስሌታ ካይሲዳይሳ ኤሪቤና።BSBBSB: If you find your gods with anyone here, he shall not live! In the presence of our relatives, see for yourself if anything is yours, and take it back.” For Jacob did not know that Rachel had stolen the idols.
32. 33GMVEሄሳ ጊሻስ ላባይ ያቆቤ ዱንካኔ ጊዶ፥ ሊያ ዱንካኔ ጊዶኔ ናምኡ ኣይሌታ ዱንካኔ ጊዶ ጌሊዴስ፤ ጊዶ ኣቲን ኣይኮካ ዴሚቤና፤ ሊያ ዱንካናፔ ኬዚዲ ኤራሄሊ ዱንካኔ ጊዶ ጌሊዴስ።BSBBSB: So Laban went into Jacob’s tent, then Leah’s tent, and then the tents of the two maidservants, but he found nothing. Then he left Leah’s tent and entered Rachel’s tent.
33. 34GMVEኤራሄላ ባ ኣዋ ኤቃ ሚስሌታ ኤካዳ ጋሜላ ኮራ ጋርሳን ቆታዳ፥ ኢዛ ቦላ ኡታዱስ። ላባይ ዱንካናን ዲዛይሳ ኡባ ፒልጊዲ ኮዪዴስ፤ ጊዶ ኣቲን ኣይኮካ ዴሚቤና።BSBBSB: Now Rachel had taken Laban’s household idols, put them in the saddlebag of her camel, and was sitting on them. And Laban searched everything in the tent but found nothing.
34. 35GMVEኤራሄላ ባ ኣዋ፥ «ታ ኣዋዉ! ታና ሃንቄቶፋ፤ ታኒ ኔስ ኤቃና ዳንዳይኬ፤ ታስ ማጫሳ ዎጋይ ዪዴስ» ጋዱስ። ኢዚ ኡባሶን ኮዪዴስ፤ ጊዶ ኣቲን ኤቃ ሚስሌታ ዴሚቤና።BSBBSB: Rachel said to her father, “Sir, do not be angry that I cannot stand up before you; for I am having my period.” So Laban searched but could not find the household idols.
35. 36GMVEያቆቤይ ላባ ቦላ ሃንቄቲዲ፥ «ታኒ ኣይ ሞራዲና? ሄሳ ሲሬ ኔ ታና ካላናስ ታኒ ኦꬂዳ ናጋራይ ኣዜ?BSBBSB: Then Jacob became incensed and challenged Laban. “What is my crime?” he said. “For what sin of mine have you so hotly pursued me?
36. 37GMVEሃኢ ኔኒ ታ ሚሻ ኡባ ፒልጋዳ ኮያዳሳ ሺን ኣይ ዴማዲ? ኢስቲ ኔፔኔ ታፔ ኦኒ ዎርዶኮ ፒርዳና ማላ ሃ ዮኦዛ ታ ዳቦታ ሲንꬃኒኔ ኔ ዳቦታ ሲንꬃን ዎꬃ።BSBBSB: You have searched all my goods! Have you found anything that belongs to you? Put it here before my brothers and yours, that they may judge between the two of us.
37. 38GMVE«ታኒ ኔናራ ናምኡ ታሙ ላይꬅ ኩሜꬅ ዴኣዲስ፤ ኔ ዶርሲኔ ዴይሻ ጊዲን ኣዉጫይቤና፤ ዎይኮ ኔ ሜሄፔ ጋልꬅ ማቤኬ።BSBBSB: I have been with you for twenty years now. Your sheep and goats have not miscarried, nor have I eaten the rams of your flock.
38. 39GMVEዶኣይ ዎꬊዳይሳካ ኡባ ታ ቦላ ቆዳዲስ ኣቲን ኔስ ኤሃቤኬ፤ ጋላስ ጊዲን ኦማርስ ካይሶይ ኤኪዳይሳ ታና ቃንጺሳዳሳ።BSBBSB: I did not bring you anything torn by wild beasts; I bore the loss myself. And you demanded payment from me for what was stolen by day or night.
39. 40GMVEጋላስ ኣዋ ሴላይ፥ ኦማርስ ኬንቾይ ታና ቆሂዴስ፤ ꬊስኮይካ ታ ኣይፌፔ ꬋይዴስ።BSBBSB: As it was, the heat consumed me by day and the frost by night, and sleep fled from my eyes.
40. 41GMVEታኒ ሃይሳꬆ ኔ ሶን ናምኡ ታሙ ላይꬅ ዴኣዲስ፤ ኔ ማጫ ና ናምኣታ ጊሻስ 14 ላይꬅ፥ ኣቲዳ ኡሱፑን ላይꬅ ኔ ኢሚዳ ሜሄታ ጊሻስ ኔስ ኦꬃሼ ዴኣዲስ፤ ጊዶ ኣቲን ኔኒ ታ ዳሞዛ ታሙቶ ላማ ላማ ዬጋዳሳ።BSBBSB: Thus for twenty years I have served in your household—fourteen years for your two daughters and six years for your flocks—and you have changed my wages ten times!
41. 42GMVEታ ኣዋቲ ኣብራሃሜይኔ ዪሳቂ ጎይኒዳ ጾሲ ታናራ ጊዶንታኮ ኔ ታና ሜላ ኩሼ ኬሳ ዬዳናኮሺን ጾሲ ታ ዋዬኔ ታ ዳቡራ ቤኢዲ ቃማ ኦማርስ ኔና ሃንቂዴስ» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: If the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Fear of Isaac, had not been with me, surely by now you would have sent me away empty-handed. But God has seen my affliction and the toil of my hands, and last night He rendered judgment.”
42. 43GMVEላባይ ያቆቤ፥ «ኔ ማቼቲ ታ ማጫ ናይታ፤ ኢስቲ ዬሊዳ ናይቲካ ታ ናይታ፤ ሜሄዚካ ታ ሜሄ፤ ኔስ ዲዛዚ ዉሪካ ታይሳ፤ ሃች ሃ ማጫ ናይታ ታይታ ቦላኔ ኢስቲ ዬሊዳ ናይታ ቦላ ኣይ ኦꬃናስ ዳንዳያዚና?BSBBSB: But Laban answered Jacob, “These daughters are my daughters, these sons are my sons, and these flocks are my flocks! Everything you see is mine! Yet what can I do today about these daughters of mine or the children they have borne?
43. 44GMVEኣኔ ሃኢ ሃ ያ፤ ኔኒኔ ታኒ ጫቄቶስ፤ ሃይሲ ኔፔኔ ታፔ ጊዶን ማርካ ጊዶ» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: Come now, let us make a covenant, you and I, and let it serve as a witness between you and me.”
44. 45GMVEሄሳ ጊሻስ ያቆቤይ ኢሲ ሹች ኤኪዲ ቱሳ ማላ ኤሲዴስ።BSBBSB: So Jacob picked out a stone and set it up as a pillar,
45. 46GMVEኢዚ ባ ዳቦታካ፥ «ሹች ሺሺቴ» ጊዴስ፤ ሂስቲን ኢስቲ ሹች ሺሺዲ ኮሪዳ፤ ሄ ሹቻ ኮራ ኣቻንካ ካꬅ ሚዳ።BSBBSB: and he said to his relatives, “Gather some stones.” So they took stones and made a mound, and there by the mound they ate.
46. 47GMVEላባይ ሄ ሹቻ ኮራ፥ ዪጋር-ሳሃዱታ ጊ ሱንꬂዴስ፤ ቃሴ ያቆቤይ ኢዛ ጋልኤዴ ጊ ሱንꬂዴስ።BSBBSB: Laban called it Jegar-sahadutha, and Jacob called it Galeed.
47. 48GMVEላባይ፥ «ሃ ኬላይ ኔፔኔ ታፔ ጊዶን ሃች ማርካ» ጊዴስ፤ ሄሳ ጊሻስ ኢዛ ሱንꬃይ ጋልኤዴ ጌቴቲዴስ።BSBBSB: Then Laban declared, “This mound is a witness between you and me this day.” Therefore the place was called Galeed.
48. 49GMVEቃሴ ኢዚ ሄ ሹቻ ቱሳ ሚጺጳ ጊ ሱንꬂዴስ፤ ኣይስ ጊኮ ላባይ፥ «ኑኒ ኢሳይ ኢሳፌ ሃኪዲ ዲዛ ዎዴ ጎዳይ ኔ ጊዶኒኔ ታ ጊዶን ጊዲዲ ናጎ።BSBBSB: It was also called Mizpah, because Laban said, “May the LORD keep watch between you and me when we are absent from each other.
49. 50GMVEኔኒ ታ ማጫ ናይታ ቆሂኮ፥ ዎይኮ ኔኒ ታ ማጫ ናይታ ቦላ ሃራ ማጫሳታ ኤኪኮ ኑናራ ሃኢ ኦኒካ ባይንዳ ኣጊኮካ ኔ ጊዶኒኔ ታ ጊዶን ጾሳይ ማርካ ጊዲዳይሳ ኤራ» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: If you mistreat my daughters or take other wives, although no one is with us, remember that God is a witness between you and me.”
50. 51GMVEላባይ ቃሴካ ያቆቤስ፥ «ኬሌቲዳ ሹቻ ሃይሳ ቤያ፤ ቃሴ ታኒ ኔፔኔ ታፔ ጊዶን ኤሲዳ ሹቻ ቱሳ ሃይሳ ቤያ።BSBBSB: Laban also said to Jacob, “Here is the mound, and here is the pillar I have set up between you and me.
51. 52GMVEታኒ ኔ ቦላ ጌኔ ኦꬃናስ ሃ ኬላፔ ኔኮ ካንꬆንታ ማላ ኔኒካ ታ ቦላ ጌኔ ኦꬃናስ ሃ ኬላፔኔ ሃ ሹቻ ቱሳፌ ካንꬆንታ ማላ ሃ ሹቻ ኮራይኔ ሃ ሹቻ ቱሳይ ማርካ።BSBBSB: This mound is a witness, and this pillar is a witness, that I will not go past this mound to harm you, and you will not go past this mound and pillar to harm me.
52. 53GMVEኣብራሃሜ ጾሲ፥ ናኮሬ ጾሲ፥ ኢስታ ኣዋ ጾሲ፥ ኢዚ ኑ ጊዶን ፒርዶ» ጊዴስ። ያቆቤይ ባ ኣዋ ዪሳቂ ጎይኒዳ ጾሳ ሱንꬃን ጫቂዴስ።BSBBSB: May the God of Abraham and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge between us.” So Jacob swore by the Fear of his father Isaac.
53. 54GMVEያቆቤይ ዙማ ቦላን ያርሾ ያርሺዴስ፤ ባ ዳቦታካ ቁማ ማናስ ጼይጊዴስ፤ ኢስቲ ሚዲ ሄን ዙማ ቦላን ኣቂዳ።BSBBSB: Then Jacob offered a sacrifice on the mountain and invited his relatives to eat a meal. And after they had eaten, they spent the night on the mountain.
54. 55GMVEዎንቴꬃ ጋላስ ማላዶ ዎንታራ ላባይ ዴንዲዲ ባ ናይታ ናይታኔ ባ ማጫ ናይታ ኣንጂዲኔ ዬሪ ኤኪዲ ጉዬ ባ ሶ ሲሚዴስ።BSBBSB: Early the next morning, Laban got up and kissed his grandchildren and daughters and blessed them. Then he left to return home.
