1ሄን ሺቂዳ ኣሳይ ዉሪ ዴንዲዲ ዬሱሳ ጲላጾሳኮ ኤኪ ቢዴስ።Then the whole council rose and led Jesus away to Pilate.

2«ሃይሲ ኣዴዚ ኑ ኣሳይ ቄሳሬስ ጊራ ጊሮንታ ማላ ባሌꬂሼኔ ባና፥ ‹ታኒ ኪርስቶሲ ካዎ› ጊዲ ባሌꬂሺን ዴሚዶስ» ጊዲ ሞቲዳ።And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this man subverting our nation, forbidding payment of taxes to Caesar, and proclaiming Himself to be Christ, a King.”

3ጲላጾሲካ ዬሱሳ፥ «ኔኒ ኣይሁዳታ ካዎ?» ጊዲ ኦይቺዴስ። ዬሱሲካ ዛሪዲ፥ «ኔ ጊዳ ማላ» ጊዴስ።So Pilate asked Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” “You have said so,” Jesus replied.

4ጲላጾሲካ ቄሴታ ሃላቃታሲኔ ሺቂዳ ኣሳስ፥ «ሃይሳ ኣዴዛ ቦላ ኢዛ ሞቲሲዛ ኢታ ዮኦ ዴማቤኬ» ጊዴስ።Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, “I find no basis for a charge against this man.”

5ኢስቲ ዛሪዲ፥ «ሃይሲ ኣዴዚ ጋሊላፔ ሃይሳ ጋካናስ ኩሜꬃ ዩሁዳ ዋዪሶ ቦላ ዴስ» ጊዲ ሚንꬂ ዮቲዳ።But they kept insisting, “He stirs up the people all over Judea with His teaching. He began in Galilee and has come all the way here.”

6ጲላጾሲ ኣሳይ ጊዛይሳ ሲዪዲ፥ «ዬሱሲ ጋሊላ ኣሳኮኔ» ጊዲ ሎኤꬂ ኤራናስ ኦይቺዴስ።When Pilate heard this, he asked if the man was a Galilean.

7ዬሱሲ ሄርዶሳ ካዎቴꬃ ጊዶን ዲዛይሳ ሻኪ ኤሪዲ ሄ ዎዴ ሄርዶሲ ዬሩሳላሜን ዲዛ ጊሻስ ኢዛኮ ዬሱሳ ዬዲዴስ።And learning that Jesus was under Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent Him to Herod, who himself was in Jerusalem at that time.

8ሄርዶሲካ ካሴ ዬሱሳ ቤያናስ ዳሮ ኮዪሼ ዲዛ ጊሻስ ዬሱሳ ቤኢዲ ኬሂ ኡፋዪዴስ፤ ኢዛ ጊሻስ ካሴ ሲዪዲ ኢዚ ኦꬂሺን ቤያናስ ኮዪዲ ኡፋዬቲዴስ።When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased. He had wanted to see Him for a long time, because he had heard about Him and was hoping to see Him perform a miracle.

9ዳሮ ኦይሻታካ ኢዛ ኦይሼሬꬂዴስ፤ ጊዶ ኣቲን ዬሱሲ ኢዛ ኦይሻ ዛሪቤና።Herod questioned Jesus at great length, but He gave no answer.

10ቄሴ ሃላቃቲኔ ጻፌቲ ሄን ኢዛ ማታን ኤቂዲ ኬሂ ዎርዶ ሞቶ ሞቲዳ።Meanwhile, the chief priests and scribes stood there, vehemently accusing Him.

11ሄርዶሲካ ባ ዎታዳራታራ ኢሲፌ ኢዛ ካꬊዳ፤ ካዎ ማይኦ ማይዚዲ ጲላጾሳኮ ዛሪ ዬዲዴስ።And even Herod and his soldiers ridiculed and mocked Him. Dressing Him in a fine robe, they sent Him back to Pilate.

12ሄርዶሲኔ ጲላጾሲ ካሴ ባ ጊዶን ኢሶይ ኢሳራ ኦሻ ሺን ሄ ጋላስ ጊጊዳ።That day Herod and Pilate became friends; before this time they had been enemies.

13ጲላጾሲ ቄሴታ ሃላቃታራ፥ ዴሬ ዳናታራኔ ዴሬ ኣሳ ሺሺዲ፥Then Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers, and the people,

14«ሃይሲ ኣዴዚ ኣሳይ ዉሪ ማካላና ማላ ዴንꬄꬄስ ጊዲ ኢንቴ ታኮ ኤሂን ታ ቆራዳ ኢዛ ኦይꬂዛ ኢሲ ኢታ ሚሺካ ዴማቤኬ።and said to them, “You brought me this man as one who was inciting the people to rebellion. I have examined Him here in your presence and found Him not guilty of your charges against Him.

15ቃሴካ ሄርዶሲ ኢሲ ኢታ ሚሺካ ኢዛ ቦላ ዴሞንታ ኣጊዳ ጊሻስ ሃ ኑኮ ዛሪ ዬዲዴስ። ሃኢ ኢንቴ ቤኢዛ ማላ ኢዛ ሃይቆስ ጋꬂዛ ኢሲ ኢታ ሚሺካ ኦꬂቤና።Neither has Herod, for he sent Him back to us. As you can see, He has done nothing deserving of death.

16ሄሳ ጊሻስ ቃጻያዳ ታ ኢዛ ዬዳና» ጊዴስ።Therefore I will punish Him and release Him.”

17ኢዚ ሄሳ ጊዳይ ኢስታ ባኣሌ ጋላስ ቃሼቲዳ ኣሳፔ ኢሳዴ ቢርሺዛ ዎጋይ ዲዛ ጊሻሳ።Not in the BSB

18ዴሬይ ዉሪካ ኢሲ ቦላ፥ «ባርባኔ ቢርሻዳ ሃይሳ ኣዴዛ ዲጋ!» ጊዲ ዋሲዴስ።But they all cried out in unison: “Away with this man! Release Barabbas to us!”

19ባርባኔይ ካታማ ጊዶን ኣሳ ማካላ ዮኦን ዴንꬄꬂዲ ኣስ ዎꬊ ቃሼቲዳ ኣሳ።(Barabbas had been imprisoned for an insurrection in the city, and for murder.)

20ጲላጾሲካ ዬሱሳ ቢርሻናስ ኮዪዳ ጊሻስ ቃሴካ ዛሪዲ ኦይቺዴስ።Wanting to release Jesus, Pilate addressed them again,

21ኣሳይ ዛሪዲ ኢዛ፥ «ካቃ! ካቃ!» ጊዲ ዋሲዴስ።but they kept shouting, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!”

22ጲላጾሲ ሄꬓንꬆካ፥ «ኣዛስ ካቆ? ሃይሲ ኣዴዚ ኣይ ኢታ ኦꬂዴ? ኢዛ ሃይቆስ ጋꬂዛ ኢታ ኦሶ ታኒ ኢዛ ቦላ ቤያቤኬ፤ ሄሳ ጊሻስ ቃጻያዳ ታ ኢዛ ቢርሻ ዬዳና» ጊዴስ።A third time he said to them, “What evil has this man done? I have found in Him no offense worthy of death. So after I punish Him, I will release Him.”

23ኣሳይካ ቃላ ꬎቁ ሂስቲዲ ዬሱሲ ካቄታና ማላ ጲላጾሳ ኬሂ ዎሲሼ ዋሲዴስ።But they were insistent, demanding with loud voices for Jesus to be crucified. And their clamor prevailed.

24ሄሳ ጊሻስ ጲላጾሲ ኢስታ ኦይሾይ ፖሌታና ማላ ኣዛዚዴስ።So Pilate sentenced that their demand be met.

25ኣሳ ማካሊሲዲ ሼምፖ ዎꬊዳ ጊሻስ ቃሼቲዳይሳ ቢርሻና ማላ ኢስቲ ዎሲዳዴ ቢርሺዲ ቃሴካ ዬሱሳ ኢስቲ ዶሲዳ ማላ ኦꬄቶ ጊዲ ዴራስ ኣꬂ ኢሚዴስ።As they had requested, he released the one imprisoned for insurrection and murder, and he handed Jesus over to their will.

26ኢስቲካ ዬሱሳ ኦይኪ ኤኪ ቢሺን ቃሬና ጌቴቲዛ ካታማፔ ኢሲ ሲሞና ጌቴቲዛ ኣዴይ ሃሆፔ ዪዛይሳ ዴሚዳ፤ ዬሱሲ ካቄታና ማስቃሌ ኮጫ ኢዚ ቶኪዲ ዬሱሳ ካላና ማላ ዎልቃꬂዳ።As the soldiers led Him away, they seized Simon of Cyrene on his way in from the country, and they put the cross on him to carry behind Jesus.

27ዳሮ ዴሬይኔ ባ ቲራ ኢጪ ኢጪ ዬኪዛ ማጫሳቲ፥A great number of people followed Him, including women who kept mourning and wailing for Him.

28ዬሱሳፔ ጉዬራ ኢዛ ካሊዳ። ዬሱሲ ኢስታኮ ሲሚ ጼሊዲ፥ «ኢንቴ ዬሩሳላሜ ማጫሳይ ኢንቴሲኔ ኢንቴ ናይታስ ዬኪቴ ኣቲን ታስ ዬኮፍቴ።But Jesus turned to them and said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.

29‹ሲንꬃፌ ኢንቴ ሄኮ ማይኔ ጊዲዳ ማጫሳቲ፥ ዬሎንታ ኡሎቲኔ ናይ ꬋሞንታ ꬋንꬃቲ ኣንጄቲዳይታ!› ጋና ዎዴይ ሲንꬃራ ዬስ።Look, the days are coming when people will say, ‘Blessed are the barren women, the wombs that never bore, and breasts that never nursed!’

30ሄ ዎዴ ኣሳይ፥ ‹ዙማቶ! ኑ ቦላ ዎዲቴ፤ ዙምቡላቲካ ኑና ቆቲቴ!› ጋና።At that time ‘they will say to the mountains, “Fall on us!” and to the hills, “Cover us!”’

31ሂስቲን ቃዬ ሚꬃ ቦላ ሃይሳꬆ ኦꬂዳይቲ ሜላ ሚꬃ ቦላ ዎስታኔሻ?» ጊዴስ።For if men do these things while the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?”

32ኢዛራ ኢሲፌ ሃይቃና ማላ ሃራ ናምኡ ኢታ ኦꬂዳ ኣሳታ ኢዛራ ኤፊዳ።Two others, who were criminals, were also led away to be executed with Jesus.

33ቃራኒዮ ጌቴቲዛሶ ጋꬂዲ ካቂዳ፤ ኢታ ኦꬂዳይታፔ ኢሳ ኡሻቻ ባጋራ፥ ኢሳ ሃዲርሳ ባጋራ ካቂዳ።When they came to the place called The Skull, they crucified Him there, along with the criminals, one on His right and the other on His left.

34ዬሱሲካ፥ «ታ ኣዋዉ! ሃይቲ ባ ኦꬂዛይሳ ኤሪዲ ኦꬆንታ ጊሻስ ኢስታስ ኣቶ ጋ!» ጊዴስ፤ ኢስቲካ ኢዛ ማይኦዛ ሳማ ዬጊዲ ባ ጊዶን ጊሼቲ ኤኪዳ።Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up His garments by casting lots.

35ሄሲ ሃኒሺን ኣሳይ ዉሪ ኤቂ ጼሊዴስ፤ ዳናቲካ፥ «ኢዚ ሃራ ኣሳ ኣሺዴስ ሺን ጾሳፌ ዶሬቲዳ ኪርስቶሲ ኢዛ ጊዲኮ ኣኔ ሃኢ ባና ኣሾ» ጊዲ ቂꬊዳ።The people stood watching, and the rulers sneered at Him, saying, “He saved others; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ of God, the Chosen One.”

36ዎታዳራቲካ ሺቂዲ ዎይኔፔ ኣጌቲዳ ጫላ ኡሹ ኡሺዲ ኢዛ ቂꬊዳ።The soldiers also mocked Him and came up to offer Him sour wine.

37«ኔኒ ኣይሁዳ ካዎ ጊዲኪ? ኣኔ ሃኢ ኔና ኣሻ» ጊዳ።“If You are the King of the Jews,” they said, “save Yourself!”

38ኢዛ ሁኤፔ ቦላ ባጋራ ማስቃሌ ኮጫ ቦላ፥ «ሃይሲ ኣይሁዳታ ካዎ» ጊዛ ቃላ ጻፊ ቃጲዳ።Above Him was posted an inscription: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

39ኢታ ኦꬂዲ ካቄቲዳ ኣሳታፔ ኢሶይ ጫሻ ቃላ ዬሱሳ ቦላ ቆቆፊዴስ። «ኔ ኪርስቶሳ ጊዲኪ? ኣኔ ኔናካ ኑናካ ኣሻ» ጊዴስ።One of the criminals who hung there heaped abuse on Him. “Are You not the Christ?” he said. “Save Yourself and us!”

40ኢታ ኦꬂዳይታፔ ኢሶይ፥ «ኔኒ ኔስ ቤሲዛ ፒርዳ ኤካሼ ጾሳስ ባቢኪ?But the other one rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same judgment?

41ኑኒ ኑ ኦꬂዳ ኢታ ኦሶስ ቤሲዛይሳ ኤኮስ፤ ሃይሲ ኣዴዚ ጊዲኮ ኢሲ ኢታካ ኦꬂቤና» ጊዴስ።We are punished justly, for we are receiving what our actions deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”

42ዬሱሳ፥ «ኔኒ ኔ ካዎቴꬃራ ዪዛ ዎዴ ታና ቆፓ!» ጊዴስ።Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom!”

43ዬሱሲካ ዛሪዲ፥ «ታ ኔስ ቱሙ ጋይስ፤ ሃች ኔ ታናራ ጋናቴን ዳና» ጊዴስ።And Jesus said to him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”

44ሄ ዎዴ ጋዴይ ሴታ ጋላስ ጊዲሺን ቢዲ ኡዱፉን ሳቴ ጋካናስ ኩሜꬃ ቢታ ቦላ ꬉማይ ꬉሚዴስ።It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over all the land until the ninth hour.

45ኣርሼ ፖኦይ ዲጌቲዴስ። ጾሳ ኬꬃ ማጋላሻይካ ዳኬቲዲ ናምኡ ኬዚዴስ።The sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn down the middle.

46ዬሱሲካ ኬሂ ዋሲዲ፥ «ታ ኣዋዉ! ታኒ ታ ሼምፖ ኔ ኩሼን ኢማይስ» ጊዳ ማላ ሼምፖ ኬዚዴስ።Then Jesus called out in a loud voice, “Father, into Your hands I commit My Spirit.” And when He had said this, He breathed His last.

47ማቶ ሃላቃይ ሄሳ ቤኢዲ፥ «ሃይሲ ኣዴዚ ቱማፔ ጺሎ ኣሳኮሺን» ጊዲ ጾሳ ጋላቲዴስ።When the centurion saw what had happened, he gave glory to God, saying, “Surely this was a righteous man.”

48ሄሳ ቤያናስ ሄን ሺቂዲ ዴሬይ ዉሪ ሄ ሃኒዳይሳ ቤኢዲ ቲራ ኢጪ ኢጪዲ ሲሚዴስ።And when all the people who had gathered for this spectacle saw what had happened, they returned home beating their breasts.

49ጊዶ ኣቲን ዬሱሳ ካሴ ሎኤꬂ ኤሪዛይቲ ዉሪ ቃሴካ ጋሊላፔራ ኢዛ ካሊዛ ማጫሳቲ ሄሳ ጼሊሼ ሃኪ ኤቂዳ።But all those who knew Jesus, including the women who had followed Him from Galilee, stood at a distance watching these things.

50ኣይሁዳታ ዱላታ ኣሳፔ ኢሶይ ኢዚካ ዮሴፌ ጌቴቲዛይሲ ዳሮ ኪያኔ ጺሎ ኣሳ።Now there was a Council member named Joseph, a good and righteous man,

51ኢዚካ ካሴ ኣሳይ ዬሱሳ ቦላ ዱላቲሺን ሄ ዱላታን ዴና፤ ኢዚካ ኣርማቲያሴ ጌቴቲዛ ኣይሁዳታ ካታማ ኣሳ ሺን ጾሳ ካዎቴꬂ ያናይሳ ናጊሼ ጋምኢዴስ።who had not consented to their decision or action. He was from the Judean town of Arimathea and was waiting for the kingdom of God.

52ኢዚካ ጲላጾሳኮ ቢዲ ዬሱሳ ኣሃ ባስ ኢማና ማላ ጲላጾሳ ዎሲዴስ።He went to Pilate to ask for the body of Jesus.

53ጲላጾሲ ኢዛስ ኤሮ ጊን ዮሴፌይ ኣሃ ማስቃሌ ኮጫፔ ዎꬂዳ ማላ ጻጺዲ ሹቻፌ ዎጬቲዳ ካሴ ሃራ ኣሲ ሞጌቶንታ ዱፎን ኤፊዲ ዎꬂዴስ።Then he took it down, wrapped it in a linen cloth, and placed it in a tomb cut into the rock, where no one had yet been laid.

54ሄ ጋላሳይ ኣሳይ ሳምባታስ ጊጌቲዛ ጋላስ ጊዲዳ ጊሻስ ሳምባታይ ጌላና ሃኔስ።It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was beginning.

55ጋሊላፔ ዴንዲዲ ዬሱሳራ ዪዳ ማጫሳቲካ ዮሴፌ ካሊ ቢዲ ዱፎዛ ቤኢዳ። ዬሱሳ ኣሃ ዎስቲ ዎꬂዳኮ ቤኢዳ።The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed, and they saw the tomb and how His body was placed.

56ሄፔ ሲሚዲ ሺቶኔ ቲዪዛ ሚሽ ጊግሲዳ። ዎጋይ ጊዛ ማላ ሳምባታ ጋላስ ሼምፒዳ።Then they returned to prepare spices and perfumes. And they rested on the Sabbath, according to the commandment.
