2. 2GMVE«ሙሴ ዎጋ ታማርሲዛይቲኔ ፋርሳዌቲ ሙሴ ዎምቦራ ቦላ ኡቲዳ።BSBBSB: “The scribes and Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat.
3. 3GMVEሄሳ ጊሻስ ኢስቲ ኢንቴስ ዮቲዛይሳ ኡባ ኦꬂቴኔ ናጊቴ፤ ጊዶ ኣቲን ኢስቲ ዶናን ሃሳይዛይሳ ማላ ኦሶን ቤሶንታ ጊሻስ ኢንቴ ኢስታ ኦሶ ካሎፍቴ።BSBBSB: So practice and observe everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.
4. 4GMVE«ሄሳꬆካ ኣሲ ቶካናስ ዳንዳዮንታ ዴጾ ቶሆ ቃቺዲ ኣሳ ሃሼ ቦላ ዎꬄቴስ፤ ባስ ጊዲኮ ቢራꬌ ጼራንካ ቦቼቴና።BSBBSB: They tie up heavy, burdensome loads and lay them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
5. 5GMVEኢስታ ኦሶ ኡባ ኣሲ ቤያና ማላ ኦꬄቴስ፤ ባ ኣሼንኪታቤ ጌሻ ማጻፋ ጊዶፌ ጻፊ ኤኪዳ ኢሲ ኢሲ ጺቂሴታ ኪታቤ ሲኪዲ ሊጴ ቦላ ዎይኮ ኩሼን ቃቺዛዝ ኦꬄቴስ። ባ ማይኦ ማጫራ ኣዱሴቴስ።BSBBSB: All their deeds are done for men to see. They broaden their phylacteries and lengthen their tassels.
6. 6GMVEዲጊሳይ ዲዛሶን ቦንቾሶ ኣይሁዳ ዎሳ ኬꬃንካ ሲንꬃራ ኡታና ዶሴቴስ።BSBBSB: They love the places of honor at banquets, the chief seats in the synagogues,
7. 7GMVEሄሳꬆካ ጊያ ጊዶን ሳሮ ጌቴታናሲኔ ኣሳይ ኢስታ፥ ‹ኣስታማሬ!› ጋና ማላ ኮዬቴስ።BSBBSB: the greetings in the marketplaces, and the title of ‘Rabbi’ by which they are addressed.
8. 8GMVE«ኢንቴ ጊዲኮ፥ ‹ኣስታማሬ› ጌቴቲ ጼይጌቶፍቴ፤ ኢንቴ ኣስታማሬይ ኢሳ ጻላላ ጊዲሺን ኢንቴ ዉሪካ ኢሶይ ኢሳስ ኢሻንታ።BSBBSB: But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers.
9. 9GMVEሳሎን ኢንቴስ ኢሲ ኣዋይ ጻላላ ዲዛ ጊሻስ ቢታ ቦላ ኦናካ፥ ‹ኣዋዉ!› ጊ ጼይጎፒቴ።BSBBSB: And do not call anyone on earth your father, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.
10. 10GMVEኢንቴ ኣስታማሬይ ኢሲ ኪርስቶሳ ጻላ ጊዲዳ ጊሻስ ኢንቴ፥ ‹ኣስታማሬንቶ!› ጌቴቶፍቴ።BSBBSB: Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Christ.
11. 11GMVEኢንቴ ጊዶን ኡባፌ ኣꬊዛዴይ ኢንቴስ ኦꬂዛዴ ጊዳና።BSBBSB: The greatest among you shall be your servant.
12. 12GMVEባና ꬎቂሲዛዴይ ካዉያና፤ ባና ካዉሺዛዴይ ቦንቼታና።BSBBSB: For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
13. 13GMVE«ኢንቴኖ ቆꬌፔ ቆሞን ሃኒዛይቶ፥ ሙሴ ዎጋ ታማርሲዛይቶ! ኢንቴኖ ፋርሳዌቶ! ኣሳይ ጾሳ ካዎቴꬅ ጌሎንታ ማላ ኣሳ ቦላ ኢንቴ ፔንጌ ጎርዲዛ ጊሻስ ኢንቴና ኣዬ ኣና! ኢንቴ ኢንቴስ ጌሌኬታኔ ጌላናስ ኮይዛይታካ ጌልꬄኬታ።BSBBSB: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let in those who wish to enter.

15. 15GMVE«ኢንቴኖ ቆꬌፔ ቆሞን ሃኒዛይቶ! ሙሴ ዎጋ ታማርሲዛይቶ! ቃሴካ ፋርሳዌቶ! ኢሲ ኣስ ኣይሁዳ ኣማኖን ጌልꬃናስ ኣባ ቦላራኔ ቢታ ቦላራ ዩዪ ዳቡርዲኔ ኣማንꬂዳ ኣሳ ኢንቴፌ ናምኡ ኩሼ ኣꬂዲ ጋናሜ ና ኢንቴ ኬሲዛ ጊሻስ ኢንቴስ ኣዬ ኣና!BSBBSB: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You traverse land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.
16. 16GMVE«ኢንቴኖ ኢንቴስ ቆቂ ኡቲዲ ሃራታ ካሌꬂዛይቶ! ኢንቴስ ኣዬ ኣና! ‹ኦኒካ ጾሳ ኬꬃን ጫቂኮ ኣይኮይ ባ› ጊዶ ኣቲን፥ ‹ጾሳ ኬꬃ ጊዶን ዲዛ ዎርቃን ጫቂኮ ጫቆ ጎሜይ ጋካና› ጌታ።BSBBSB: Woe to you, blind guides! You say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’
17. 17GMVEኢንቴኖ ቆቂዳይቶ! ባሌቲዳይቶ! ዎርቃፌኔ ዎርቃ ዱማሲዳ ጾሳ ኬꬃፌ ኣዋይሲ ኣꬊዜ?BSBBSB: You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes it sacred?
18. 18GMVEሄሳꬆካ፥ ‹ኦኒካ ያርሾ ያርሺዛሶ ቦላ ጫቂኮ ኣይኮይ ባ፤ ጊዶ ኣቲን ያርሺዛሶን ዲዛ ያርሾዛ ቦላ ጫቂኮ ጫቆይ ጎሜስ› ጌታ።BSBBSB: And you say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.’
19. 19GMVEኢንቴኖ ቆቄቶ! ያርሾፌኔ ያርሾ ሺሺዛሶፔ ኣዋይሴ ኣꬊዛይ?BSBBSB: You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes it sacred?
20. 20GMVEሄሳ ጊሻስ ያርሾ ሺሺዛሶ ቦላ ጫቂዛዴይ ያርሾሶዛ ቦላኔ ያርሺዛሶ ቦላ ዲዛ ኡባ ሚሻን ጫቄስ።BSBBSB: So then, he who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it.
21. 21GMVEሄሳꬆካ ጾሳ ኬꬃዛ ቦላ ጫቂዳይ ጾሳ ኬꬃኒኔ ኢዛ ጊዶን ኣቂዛይሳን ጫቄስ።BSBBSB: And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by the One who dwells in it.
22. 22GMVEሳሎን ጫቂዛዴይካ ጾሳ ኣልጋኒኔ ኣልጋ ቦላ ኡቲዳይሳን ጫቄስ።BSBBSB: And he who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the One who sits on it.
23. 23GMVE«ኢንቴኖ ቆꬌፔ ቆሞን ሃኒዛይቶ፥ ሙሴ ዎጋ ታማርሲዛይቶ፥ ፋርሳዌቶ! ኢንቴስ ኣዬ ኣና! ኣሱታፔ፥ ኣኑጋፔኔ ካትካልኣፌ ታማፌ ኢሲኖ ኢሜታ፤ ጊዶ ኣቲን ዎጋታፔ ዋናቲዛይታ ሄይቲካ ቱማ ፒርዳ፥ ማሮቴꬂኔ ኣማኔቴꬅ ጊዲኮ ካꬊዴታ። ሄይታ ኣጎንታ ዲሼ ሃይታንታ ኢንቴ ኦꬃናስ ኢንቴስ ቤሴስ ሺን ኣጊዴታ።BSBBSB: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You pay tithes of mint, dill, and cumin. But you have disregarded the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
24. 24GMVEኢንቴኖ ቆቂ ኡቲዲ ካሌꬂዛይቶ! ኡኤ ጋጪዲ ኡዬታ ሺን ጋሜላ ሙሜ ሚቴታ!BSBBSB: You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.
25. 25GMVE«ኢንቴኖ ቆꬌፔ ቆሞን ሃኒዛይቶ፥ ሙሴ ዎጋ ታማርሲዛይቶኔ ፋርሳዌቶ! ኢንቴስ ኣዬ ኣና! ጹኣሲኔ ኬሬስ ቦላ ባጋ ቁጬታ ሺን ኢዛ ጊዶን ዲዛይሳ ኢንቴ ቦንቃኒኔ ኡዜቴꬃን ሺሺዴታ።BSBBSB: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.
26. 26GMVEኔኖ ቆቄ ፋርሳዌዞ! ኮይሮታዳ ጹኣሲኔ ኬሬስ ጊዶ ባጋ ጌሻ! ሄሳፌ ጉዬ ካሬ ባጋይ ጌሽ ጊዳና።BSBBSB: Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, so that the outside may become clean as well.
27. 27GMVE«ኢንቴኖ ቆꬌፔ ቆሞን ሃኒዛይቶ፥ ሙሴ ዎጋ ታማርሲዛይቶ፥ ቃሴ ፋርሳዌቶ! ቦላ ባጋይ ኖራን ሜሼቲዲ ሎኢዛይቲ ጊዶይ ጊዲኮ ሃይቂዳይታ ሜቄꬂኔ ዳሮ ቱናቴꬃን ኩሚዳ ዱፎታ ሚሳቲዛ ጊሻስ ኢንቴስ ኣዬ ኣና!BSBBSB: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and every kind of impurity.
28. 28GMVEኢንቴካ ቦላ ባጋራ ኣሳስ ጺሎ ኣሳታ ሚሳቴታ፤ ኢንቴ ጊዶይ ጊዲኮ ጪሞኒኔ ኢታቴꬃን ኩሚዴስ።BSBBSB: In the same way, on the outside you appear to be righteous, but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.
29. 29GMVE«ኢንቴኖ ዶናን ጪሚዛይቶ! ሙሴ ዎጋ ኣስታማሬቶ፥ ቃሴካ ፋርሳዌቶ! ኢንቴስ ኣዬ ኣና! ናቤታ ዱፎ ሎኤꬂዛይቶ! ጺሎ ኣሳታ ዱፎ ሃዉልቴራ ጊግሲዛይቶ!BSBBSB: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous.
30. 30GMVEኑ ኣዋቲ ናቤታ ዎꬊዛ ዎዴ ኑ ዲዛኮ ኢስታራ ዙፔቶኮ ሺን፥BSBBSB: And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’
31. 31GMVEኢንቴ ናቤታ ዎꬊዳ ኣሳታ ናይታ ጊዲዳይሳ ኢንቴ ዶናራ ኢንቴርካ ኢንቴ ኢንቴ ቦላ ማርካቴታ።BSBBSB: So you testify against yourselves that you are the sons of those who murdered the prophets.
32. 32GMVEሂስቲኮ ኦሴቲዲ ፖሌቶንታ ኦጌ ቦላ ዲዛ ኢንቴ ኣዋታ ኦሶ ፖሊቴ።BSBBSB: Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your fathers.
33. 33GMVE«ኢንቴኖ ዱኪዛ ኢታ ሾሻ ናይቶ! ጋናሜ ታማ ፒርዳፌ ኢንቴ ዋኒ ኣታኔ?BSBBSB: You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape the sentence of hell?
34. 34GMVEሄሳ ጊሻስ ናቤታኔ ኤራንቻታ ኣስታማሬታካ ታ ኢንቴስ ዬዳና። ኢንቴ ኢስታ ጊዶፌ ኢሲ ኢሲ ኣሳታ ዎꬋና። ባጋይታ ኢንቴ ካቃና፤ ባጋይታ ኢንቴ ኣይሁዳ ዎሳ ኬꬃን ጋራፋናኔ ሄ ካታማፔ ሃራ ካታማ ኢንቴ ጎዳና።BSBBSB: Because of this, I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify, and others you will flog in your synagogues and persecute from town to town.
35. 35GMVEሄሳ ጊሻስ ጺሎ ኣቤሌ ሱꬃፌ ሃ ሲሚን ጾሳ ኬꬃኒኔ ያርሾ ያርሺዛሶ ጊዶን ኢንቴ ዎꬊዳ ባራኪዮ ና ዛካራሳ ሱꬃ ጋካናስ ቢታ ቦላ ጉኪዳ ጺሎታ ሱꬃ ኡባስ ኢንቴ ኦይሼታና።BSBBSB: And so upon you will come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.
36. 36GMVEታ ኢንቴስ ቱሙ ጋይስ፤ ካሴ ኣꬊዳ ዮኦ ኡባስ ሃይሲ ሃ ዬሌታይ ኦይሼታና።BSBBSB: Truly I tell you, all these things will come upon this generation.
37. 37GMVE«ሃኔ ዬሩሳላሜ! ናቤታ ዎꬊዛሬ! ኔኮ ኪቴቲዳይታ ሹቻራ ጫዲዛሬ! ሃኔ ዬሩሳላሜ፥ ኩቶ ኣያ ባ ጪዬታ ባ ቄፌ ጊዶ ሺሺዛ ማላ ታ ኔ ናይታ ሺሻናስ ኣፑን ዎዴ ኮያዲናሺን ኔ ጊዲኮ ኮያቤካ።BSBBSB: O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those sent to her, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were unwilling!
38. 38GMVEሄኮ ኢንቴ ኬꬂ ካይስ ጊዲ ኣታና።BSBBSB: Look, your house is left to you desolate.
39. 39GMVEታ ኢንቴስ ቱሙ ጋይስ፤ ኢንቴ ጎዳ ሱንꬃን ዪዛዴይ ኣንጄቲዳዴ ጋና ዎዴይ ጋካናስ ናምኣንꬆ ታና ቤዬኬታ» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: For I tell you that you will not see Me again until you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.’”
