1. Freedom in Christ

2. 1GNVStand fast therefore in the libertie wherewith Christ hath made vs free, and be not intangled againe with the yoke of bondage.BSBBSB: It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not be encumbered once more by a yoke of slavery.
3. 2GNVBeholde, I Paul say vnto you, that if yee be circumcised, Christ shall profite you nothing.BSBBSB: Take notice: I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all.
4. 3GNVFor I testifie againe to euery man, which is circumcised, that he is bound to keepe the whole Lawe.BSBBSB: Again I testify to every man who gets himself circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law.
5. 4GNVYe are abolished from Christ: whosoeuer are iustified by the Law, ye are fallen from grace.BSBBSB: You who are trying to be justified by the law have been severed from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.
6. 5GNVFor we through the Spirit waite for the hope of righteousnes through faith.BSBBSB: But by faith we eagerly await through the Spirit the hope of righteousness.
7. 6GNVFor in Iesus Christ neither circumcision auaileth any thing, neither vncircumcision, but faith which worketh by loue.BSBBSB: For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. What matters is faith expressing itself through love.
8. 7GNVYe did runne well: who did let you, that ye did not obey the trueth?BSBBSB: You were running so well. Who has obstructed you from obeying the truth?
9. 8GNVIt is not the perswasion of him that calleth you.BSBBSB: Such persuasion does not come from the One who calls you.
10. 9GNVA litle leauen doeth leauen the whole lumpe.BSBBSB: A little leaven works through the whole batch of dough.
11. 10GNVI haue trust in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but hee that troubleth you, shall beare his condemnation, whosoeuer he be.BSBBSB: I am confident in the Lord that you will take no other view. The one who is troubling you will bear the judgment, whoever he may be.
12. 11GNVAnd brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why doe I yet suffer persecution? Then is the slaunder of the crosse abolished.BSBBSB: Now, brothers, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished.
13. 12GNVWould to God they were euen cut off, which doe disquiet you.BSBBSB: As for those who are agitating you, I wish they would proceed to emasculate themselves!
14. 13GNVFor brethren, ye haue bene called vnto libertie: onely vse not your libertie as an occasion vnto the flesh, but by loue serue one another.BSBBSB: For you, brothers, were called to freedom; but do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh. Rather, serve one another in love.
15. 14GNVFor all the Lawe is fulfilled in one worde, which is this, Thou shalt loue thy neighbour as thy selfe.BSBBSB: The entire law is fulfilled in a single decree: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
16. 15GNVIf ye bite and deuoure one another, take heede least ye be consumed one of another.BSBBSB: But if you keep on biting and devouring one another, watch out, or you will be consumed by one another.

17. Walking by the Spirit

    (Ezekiel 36:16–38; Romans 8:9–11)

18. 16GNVThen I say, Walke in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lustes of the flesh.BSBBSB: So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
19. 17GNVFor the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary one to another, so that ye can not doe the same things that ye would.BSBBSB: For the flesh craves what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are opposed to each other, so that you do not do what you want.
20. 18GNVAnd if ye be led by the Spirit, ye are not vnder the Lawe.BSBBSB: But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
21. 19GNVMoreouer the workes of the flesh are manifest, which are adulterie, fornication, vncleannes, wantonnes,BSBBSB: The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery;
22. 20GNVIdolatrie, witchcraft, hatred, debate, emulations, wrath, contentions, seditions, heresies,BSBBSB: idolatry and sorcery; hatred, discord, jealousy, and rage; rivalries, divisions, factions,
23. 21GNVEnuie, murthers, drunkennesse, gluttonie, and such like, whereof I tell you before, as I also haue tolde you before, that they which doe such things, shall not inherite the kingdome of God.BSBBSB: and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
24. 22GNVBut the fruite of the Spirit is loue, ioye, peace, long suffering, gentlenes, goodnes, fayth,BSBBSB: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
25. 23GNVMeekenesse, temperancie: against such there is no lawe.BSBBSB: gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
26. 24GNVFor they that are Christes, haue crucified the flesh with the affections and the lustes.BSBBSB: Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
27. 25GNVIf we liue in the Spirit, let vs also walke in the Spirit.BSBBSB: Since we live by the Spirit, let us walk in step with the Spirit.
28. 26GNVLet vs not be desirous of vaine glorie, prouoking one another, enuying one another.BSBBSB: Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying one another.
