1. A Prayer for Restoration

2. 1GNVRemember, O Lord, what is come vpon vs: consider, and behold our reproche.BSBBSB: Remember, O LORD, what has happened to us. Look and see our disgrace!
3. 2GNVOur inheritance is turned to the strangers, our houses to the aliants.BSBBSB: Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers, our houses to foreigners.
4. 3GNVWe are fatherles, euen without father, and our mothers are as widowes.BSBBSB: We have become fatherless orphans; our mothers are widows.
5. 4GNVWee haue drunke our water for money, and our wood is solde vnto vs.BSBBSB: We must buy the water we drink; our wood comes at a price.
6. 5GNVOur neckes are vnder persecution: we are wearie, and haue no rest.BSBBSB: We are closely pursued; we are weary and find no rest.
7. 6GNVWe haue giuen our handes to the Egyptians, and to Asshur, to be satisfied with bread.BSBBSB: We submitted to Egypt and Assyria to get enough bread.
8. 7GNVOur fathers haue sinned, and are not, and we haue borne their iniquities.BSBBSB: Our fathers sinned and are no more, but we bear their punishment.
9. 8GNVSeruants haue ruled ouer vs, none would deliuer vs out of their hands.BSBBSB: Slaves rule over us; there is no one to deliver us from their hands.
10. 9GNVWee gate our bread with the perill of our liues, because of the sword of the wildernesse.BSBBSB: We get our bread at the risk of our lives because of the sword in the wilderness.
11. 10GNVOur skinne was blacke like as an ouen because of the terrible famine.BSBBSB: Our skin is as hot as an oven with fever from our hunger.
12. 11GNVThey defiled the women in Zion, and the maydes in the cities of Iudah.BSBBSB: Women have been ravished in Zion, virgins in the cities of Judah.
13. 12GNVThe princes are hanged vp by their hande: the faces of the elders were not had in honour.BSBBSB: Princes have been hung up by their hands; elders receive no respect.
14. 13GNVThey tooke the yong men to grinde, and the children fell vnder the wood.BSBBSB: Young men toil at millstones; boys stagger under loads of wood.
15. 14GNVThe Elders haue ceased from the gate and the yong men from their songs.BSBBSB: The elders have left the city gate; the young men have stopped their music.
16. 15GNVThe ioy of our heart is gone, our daunce is turned into mourning.BSBBSB: Joy has left our hearts; our dancing has turned to mourning.
17. 16GNVThe crowne of our head is fallen: wo nowe vnto vs, that we haue sinned.BSBBSB: The crown has fallen from our head. Woe to us, for we have sinned!
18. 17GNVTherefore our heart is heauy for these things, our eyes are dimme,BSBBSB: Because of this, our hearts are faint; because of these, our eyes grow dim—
19. 18GNVBecause of the mountaine of Zion which is desolate: the foxes runne vpon it.BSBBSB: because of Mount Zion, which lies desolate, patrolled by foxes.
20. 19GNVBut thou, O Lord, remainest for euer: thy throne is from generation to generation.BSBBSB: You, O LORD, reign forever; Your throne endures from generation to generation.
21. 20GNVWherefore doest thou forget vs for euer, and forsake vs so long time?BSBBSB: Why have You forgotten us forever? Why have You forsaken us for so long?
22. 21GNVTurne thou vs vnto thee, O Lord, and we shalbe turned: renue our dayes as of olde.BSBBSB: Restore us to Yourself, O LORD, so we may return; renew our days as of old,
23. 22GNVBut thou hast vtterly reiected vs: thou art exceedingly angry against vs.BSBBSB: unless You have utterly rejected us and remain angry with us beyond measure.
