1. 1GOFE“እስ አስ ቦር ዎይኮ ዶርሰ ካይስድ ሹክኮ፥ ዎይኮ ባይዝኮ፥ ቦራ ግሾ እቻሹ ቦራታ፥ ዶርሳ ግሾ ኦይዱ ዶርሳታ ጭጎ።BSBBSB: “If a man steals an ox or a sheep and slaughters or sells it, he must repay five oxen for an ox and four sheep for a sheep.
2. 2GOFE“ካይሶይ ኬ ቦክሸ ኦይከትድ ሾጨትድ ሀይቅኮ፥ ሾጭ ዎꬍዳይስ ኦይሸተና።BSBBSB: If a thief is caught breaking in and is beaten to death, no one shall be guilty of bloodshed.
3. 3GOFEሽን ሄስ ሀንዳይ ጋላስ ግድኮ፥ እ ሄ ጉስዳ ሱꬃ አጩዋን ኦይሸቴስ። ካይሶይ ባ ካይስዳይሳ ዛሮ፥ ሽን እያዉ ዛራናባይ ꬋይኮ ባ ሁጰን አይለተꬃስ ባይዘቶ።BSBBSB: But if it happens after sunrise, there is guilt for his bloodshed. A thief must make full restitution; if he has nothing, he himself shall be sold for his theft.
4. 4GOFEእ ካይስዳ መሄይ ፓፃ ደእሸ እያ ኩሸን በንትኮ፥ ቦር ዎይኮ ሀረ ዎይኮ ዶርሰ ግድኮ፥ እ ካይስዳይሳስ ናምኡ ኩሸ ጭጎ።BSBBSB: If what was stolen is actually found alive in his possession—whether ox or donkey or sheep—he must pay back double.
5. 5GOFE“እስ አስ ባ መህያ ደንባን ዎይኮ ዎይነ ጋደን ሄምሽን፥ መሄይ ሀራ አሳ ካꬅ ሚኮ፥ እ ባ ካꬃፈ ዎይኮ ባ ዎይንያፐ ሎኡዋ አጫ ቃንፆ።BSBBSB: If a man grazes his livestock in a field or vineyard and allows them to stray so that they graze in someone else’s field, he must make restitution from the best of his own field or vineyard.
6. 6GOFE“እስ አስ ባ ጋደን ታማ ፁግሽን ታማይ ቡርያ ካንꬅድ ሀራ አሳ ጋደን ድጭያ ካꬃነ ዶርያ ሚኮ፥ ታማ ኦይꬅዳ ኡራይ አጮ ቃንፆ።BSBBSB: If a fire breaks out and spreads to thornbushes so that it consumes stacked or standing grain, or the whole field, the one who started the fire must make full restitution.
7. 7GOFE“እስ አስ ብራ ዎይኮ ሀራ አልኦ ሚሸ ባ ሾሩዋስ ሀዳራ እምን፥ ሄ ሾሩዋ ሶፐ ካይሶይ ሄ ሚሽያ ኤክኮነ ሄ ካይሶይ ኦይከትኮ፥ ሄ ካይሶይ ሚሽያ ናምኡ ኩሸ ጭጎ።BSBBSB: If a man gives his neighbor money or goods for safekeeping and they are stolen from the neighbor’s house, the thief, if caught, must pay back double.
8. 8GOFEሽን ካይሶይ በንቶና እፅኮ፥ ኡራይ ፆሳ ስን ሺቅድ፥ ባ ሾሩዋ ሚሽያ፥ እ ኤኮናይሳ ኤርሳናዉ ጫቆ።BSBBSB: If the thief is not found, the owner of the house must appear before the judges to determine whether he has taken his neighbor’s property.
9. 9GOFE“ናምኡ አሳት ቦራ ጋሶን ዎይኮ ሀረ ጋሶን ዎይኮ ዶርሳ ጋሶን ዎይኮ ማኦ ጋሶን ዎይኮ ሀራ ꬋይዳባ ጋሶን ሞተትድ፥ ፆሳ ስን ሺቅኮ፥ ፆሳይ እያ ቦላ ፕርድዳይስ ናምኡ ኩሸ ጭጎ።BSBBSB: In all cases of illegal possession of an ox, a donkey, a sheep, a garment, or any lost item that someone claims, ‘This is mine,’ both parties shall bring their cases before the judges. The one whom the judges find guilty must pay back double to his neighbor.
10. 10GOFE“እስ አስ ሀረ ዎይኮ ቦር ዎይኮ ዶርሰ ዎይኮ ሀራ መሄ ሀዳራ እምዳሱዋን ሀይቅኮ ዎይኮ መእኮ ዎይኮ ኦንካ በኦና ካይሶተትኮ፥BSBBSB: If a man gives a donkey, an ox, a sheep, or any other animal to be cared for by his neighbor, but it dies or is injured or stolen while no one is watching,
11. 11GOFEሀዳራ ኤክዳይስ ባ ላግያ መህያ ካይሶቶናይሳ ጎዳ ስንꬃን ጫቆ። ሄ መህያ ጎዳይ ጫቁዋ ኤኮ፤ መሄይ እያፐ ꬋይዳ ኡራይ ጭጋናዉ ኮሸና።BSBBSB: an oath before the LORD shall be made between the parties to determine whether or not the man has taken his neighbor’s property. The owner must accept the oath and require no restitution.
12. 12GOFEሽን መሄይ ካይሶተትዳባ ግድኮ፥ መህያ ጎዳስ ጭጎ።BSBBSB: But if the animal was actually stolen from the neighbor, he must make restitution to the owner.
13. 13GOFEሄ መህያ ዶእ ምዳባ ግድኮ፥ ማርካ ግዳናዳ ጋዉፃ ኤሆ፤ ዶእ ምዳባ ግድኮ እያዉ ጭጎፎ።BSBBSB: If the animal was torn to pieces, he shall bring it as evidence; he need not make restitution for the torn carcass.
14. 14GOFE“አስ ባ ሾሩዋፐ መሄ ዎስ ኤክኮ እያ ጎዳይ ባይና በሳን ሄ መሄይ ደሸትኮ ዎይኮ ሀይቅኮ፥ ሄ መህያስ ጭጋ እሞ።BSBBSB: If a man borrows an animal from his neighbor and it is injured or dies while its owner is not present, he must make full restitution.
15. 15GOFEሽን እያ ጎዳይ እያራ ደእሽን ሄስ ሀንዳባ ግድኮ አጫ ቃንፆፎ። ሀሸ ኤክዳባ ግድኮ፥ ሄ ሀሸ ሚሸይ አጮ ጋተ ግዶ።BSBBSB: If the owner was present, no restitution is required. If the animal was rented, the fee covers the loss.
16. 16GOFE“እስ አስ እስ ጌላእዉ ጭምድ፥ ኢራ ዝንኤትያባ ግድኮ፥ እዉ አጫ እምድ፥ ባዉ ማቾ ኦꬆ።BSBBSB: If a man seduces a virgin who is not pledged in marriage and sleeps with her, he must pay the full dowry for her to be his wife.
17. 17GOFEእ አዋይ እዮ እያዉ እማናዉ ኮዮና እፅኮ፥ ጌላኦ ኤክያ ኡራይ አጫ እምያ ሚሸ መላ እ አዋስ እምድ አጮ።BSBBSB: If her father absolutely refuses to give her to him, the man still must pay an amount comparable to the bridal price of a virgin.
18. 18GOFE“ብታ ብትያ ማጫስ ሀይቆ።BSBBSB: You must not allow a sorceress to live.
19. 19GOFE“መሄራ ቱንያ ኦንካ ሀይቆ።BSBBSB: Whoever lies with an animal must surely be put to death.
20. 20GOFE“ፆሳፈ ሀራ ጎዳታስ ያርሽያ ኦንካ ሀይቆ።BSBBSB: If anyone sacrifices to any god other than the LORD alone, he must be set apart for destruction.
21. 21GOFEህንተ ግብፀ ቢታን በተ አስ ግድድ፥ ደእዳ ግሾ፥ በተ አስ ቆሆፕተ ዎይኮ ኡንኤꬆፍተ።BSBBSB: You must not exploit or oppress a foreign resident, for you yourselves were foreigners in the land of Egypt.
22. 22GOFEአምኤታነ ይኦታ ኡንኤꬆፍተ።BSBBSB: You must not mistreat any widow or orphan.
23. 23GOFEህንተ ኤንታ ኡንኤꬅኮ፥ ኤንቲ ታኮ ዋሳና፤BSBBSB: If you do mistreat them, and they cry out to Me in distress, I will surely hear their cry.
24. 24GOFEታኒ ኤንታ ዋሱዋ ስአና። ሄ ዎደ ታ ህንተ ቦላ ሀንቀታዳ ህንተና ኦላን ዉርሳና። ህንተ ማቸት አምኦ፥ ህንተ ናይትካ አዉ ባይናይሳታ ግዳና።BSBBSB: My anger will be kindled, and I will kill you with the sword; then your wives will become widows and your children will be fatherless.
25. 25GOFE“ህንተ ግዶን ደእያ ማንቆ ግድዳ ታ አሳፐ ኦደስካ ሚሸ ታልእኮ፥ የሎን ታልእያ አሳዳ የሎ ኦይቾፍተ።BSBBSB: If you lend money to one of My people among you who is poor, you must not act as a creditor to him; you are not to charge him interest.
26. 26GOFEኔኒ እስባ ግሾ፥ እያ ማኡዋ ኦይክዳ አስ ደእኮ፥ አው ዉሎና ደእሽን እያ ማኡዋ ዛራ።BSBBSB: If you take your neighbor’s cloak as collateral, return it to him by sunset,
27. 27GOFEእ ማእድ አቀይ እ ፃላላ። እ ሀራ አይ ማእድ አቃናዉ ዳንዳኢ? ታኒ ቃትያ ፆሲ ግድያ ግሾ፥ እ ታኮ ዋስያ ዎደ ስአና።BSBBSB: because his cloak is the only covering he has for his body. What else will he sleep in? And if he cries out to Me, I will hear, for I am compassionate.
28. 28GOFE“ፆሳ ቦላ ጫሻ ቃላ ሃሳዮፓ፥ ዎይኮ ነ ደርያ አይሰይሳ ባዶፋ።BSBBSB: You must not blaspheme God or curse the ruler of your people.
29. 29GOFEነ ካꬃፈ፥ ነ ዎይነ ኡሻፈነ ነ ሻማሆ ዛይትያፐ ታዉ ያርሾ ያርሻ። “ባይራ ግድድ የለትዳ አደ ናኣ ታዉ እማ።BSBBSB: You must not hold back offerings from your granaries or vats. You are to give Me the firstborn of your sons.
30. 30GOFEነ ሚዛፐነ ነ ዶርሳፈ ባይራ የለትዳይሳ ታዉ እማ። ኤንቲ ላፑን ጋላስ ጋካናዉ፥ ባንታ አየታራ ጋምኦ፤ ሆስፑንꬆ ጋላሳን ኤንታ ታዉ እማ።BSBBSB: You shall do likewise with your cattle and your sheep. Let them stay with their mothers for seven days, but on the eighth day you are to give them to Me.
31. 31GOFE“ህንተ ታዉ ጌሻ አስ ግዳናዉ ኮሼስ። ሄሳ ግሾ፥ ዶእ መንꬅድ ዎꬍዳ መሄ አሾ ሞፕተ፤ ሄሳ ካናስ የግተ።”BSBBSB: You are to be My holy people. You must not eat the meat of a mauled animal found in the field; you are to throw it to the dogs.
