1. 1GOFEዮሰፍ ባ እሻታፐ እቻሻታ ዶርድ ግብፀ ካዋኮ ገልድ ሀይሳዳ ያግስ፤ “ታ አዋይነ ታ እሻት፥ ባንታ ዶርሳ፥ ባንታ ዴሻ፥ ባንታ መህያነ ባንታዉ ደእያባ ኡባ ኤክድ ካናነ ቢታፈ ይድ፥ ሀእ ጌሳመን ደኦሶና” ያግስ።BSBBSB: So Joseph went and told Pharaoh: “My father and my brothers, with their flocks and herds and all they own, have come from the land of Canaan and are now in Goshen.”
2. 3GOFEካዎይ ሄ እሻታኮ፥ “ህንተ ኦሶይ አይቤ?” ያግድ ኦይችስ። ኤንቲ ካዋኮ፥ “ኑኒ ነ አይለት ኑ አዋታዳ ዶርሰ ሃርያ አሳታ” ያግድ ዛርዶሶና።BSBBSB: “What is your occupation?” Pharaoh asked Joseph’s brothers. “Your servants are shepherds,” they replied, “both we and our fathers.”
3. 4GOFEቃስካ ኤንቲ እያኮ፥ “ካናነ ቢታን ኮሽ ከይዳ ግሾነ ኑ መህያስ ምያባይ ꬋይዳ ግሾ፥ ኑኒ ሀይሳን ዳናዉ ይዳ። ሀያና ኑና ነ አይለታ ጌሳመ ቢታን ደኦ ጋርክ” ያግዶሶና።BSBBSB: Then they said to Pharaoh, “We have come to live in the land for a time, because there is no pasture for the flocks of your servants, since the famine in the land of Canaan has been severe. So now, please allow your servants to settle in the land of Goshen.”
4. 5GOFEካዎይ ዮሰፋኮ፥ “ነ አዋይነ ነ እሻት ኔኮ ይዶሶና።BSBBSB: Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Now that your father and brothers have come to you,
5. 6GOFEህዛ ግብፀ ቢታይ ነ ኩሸና። ሀ ቢታን ኡባፈ አꬍድ ሎእያ በሳን ነ አዋነ ነ እሻታ ዎꬃ፤ ኤንቲ ጌሳመ ቢታን ደኦና። ኤንታ ግዶፈ ዱማ ቃራተꬅ ደኤይሳት ደእኮ፥ ሄሳታ ታ መህያ ቦላ ሹማ” ያግስ።BSBBSB: the land of Egypt is before you; settle your father and brothers in the best part of the land. They may dwell in the land of Goshen. And if you know of any talented men among them, put them in charge of my own livestock.”
6. 7GOFEሄሳፈ ጉየ፥ ዮሰፍ ባ አዋ ያይቆባ ገልስድ፥ ካዋ ስን አꬅስ። ያይቆብ ግብፀ ካዋ አንጅዳፐ ጉየ፥BSBBSB: Then Joseph brought in his father Jacob and presented him before Pharaoh, and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.
7. 8GOFEካዎይ ያይቆባ፥ “ነዉ አፑን ላይꬄ?” ያግድ ኦይችስ።BSBBSB: “How many years have you lived?” Pharaoh asked.
8. 9GOFEያይቆብ ካዋኮ፥ “ታኒ ዳቡርሳን ደእዳ ላይꬃይ ፄታነ ሀስታማ። ታ ላይꬃይ በን ታ አዋት ዳቡርሳን ደእዳ ላይꬃፈ ጉꬃነ መቶይ ዳርዳ ላይꬅ” ያግስ።BSBBSB: “My travels have lasted 130 years,” Jacob replied. “My years have been few and hard, and they have not matched the years of the travels of my fathers.”
9. 10GOFEሄሳፈ ጉየ፥ ያይቆብ ካዋ አንጅድ፥ እያ ስንꬃፈ ካረ ከይስ።BSBBSB: Then Jacob blessed Pharaoh and departed from his presence.
10. 11GOFEዮሰፍ ካዎይ ኪትዳይሳዳ ባ አዋነ ባ እሻታ ግብፀ ቢታን ራምሰ ካታማ ማታን ደእያ ኡባፈ አꬍዳ አራዳ ቢታን ኤንታ ዎꬅስ።BSBBSB: So Joseph settled his father and brothers in the land of Egypt and gave them property in the best part of the land, the district of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.
11. 12GOFEዮሰፍ ባ አዋስ፥ ባ እሻታስነ ባራ ደእያ ኡባስ ኤንታ ናይታ ታይቡዋዳ ካꬅ እሚስ።BSBBSB: Joseph also provided his father and brothers and all his father’s household with food for their families.
12. 13GOFEቢታ ኡባን ኮሽ ሱልዳ ግሾ ቢታን ኡባን ካꬅ ባዋ፤ ግብፀይነ ካናነ ቢታይ ቆሄትዶሶና።BSBBSB: There was no food, however, in all that region, because the famine was so severe; the lands of Egypt and Canaan had been exhausted by the famine.
13. 14GOFEዮሰፍ ግብፀ ካꬃ ባይዝድ፥ ግብፀንነ ካናነ ቢታታን ደእያ ሚሽያ ኡባ ሺሽድ ግብፀ ካዋ ኬꬃ ገልስስ።BSBBSB: Joseph collected all the money to be found in the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan in exchange for the grain they were buying, and he brought it into Pharaoh’s palace.
14. 15GOFEግብፀ ሚሸይነ ካናነ ሚሸይ ዉርዳ ዎደ ግብፀ አሳ ኡባይ ዮሰፋኮ ይድ “ኑስ ካꬅ እማ። ኑ ሚሸይ ዉርዳ ግሾ ኑኒ ነ ስንꬃን አይስ ኮሻን ሀይቃኔ?” ያግዶሶና።BSBBSB: When the money from the lands of Egypt and Canaan was gone, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, “Give us food. Why should we die before your eyes? For our funds have run out!”
15. 16GOFEዮሰፍ ኤንታኮ፥ “ህንተ መህያ ኤክ ዪተ። ህንተ ሚሸይ ዉርዳባ ግድኮ፥ ታኒ ካꬃ ህንተ መህያራ ላማና” ያግስ።BSBBSB: “Then bring me your livestock,” said Joseph. “Since the money is gone, I will sell you food in exchange for your livestock.”
16. 17GOFEሄሳ ግሾ፥ ኤንቲ ባንታ መህያ ዮሰፋስ ኤህዶሶና። ዮሰፍ ኤንታ ፓራ፥ ዶርሳ፥ ዴሻ፥ ሚዛነ ሀርያ ካꬃራ ላምስ። እ ሄ ላይꬅ ኤንታ መህያ ኡባራ ካꬃ ላምድ፥ ኤንታ ሙዝድ ሻችስ።BSBBSB: So they brought their livestock to Joseph, and he gave them food in exchange for their horses, their flocks and herds, and their donkeys. Throughout that year he provided them with food in exchange for all their livestock.
17. 18GOFEኤንቲ ካልያ ላይꬃን እያኮ ይድ “ኑኒ ኑ ጎዳፐ ቆስያባይ ባዋ፤ ኑ ሚሸይ ኡባይ ዉርስ። ኑ መህያካ ነዉ እም ድግዳ። ኑ ቦላፈነ ኑ ጋድያፐ አትሽን፥ ኑ ጎዳስ እማናባይ ሀራባይ ባዋ።BSBBSB: When that year was over, they came to him the second year and said, “We cannot hide from our lord that our money is gone and all our livestock belongs to you. There is nothing left for our lord except our bodies and our land.
18. 19GOFEኑኒ ነ በእሽን አይስ ኮሻን ሀይቃኔ? ኑ ጋደይካ አይስ ꬋዪ? ኑናካ ኑ ጋድያካ ሻማዳ ኑስ ካꬅ እማ። ኑኒ ካዋስ አይለታና፥ ኑ ጋደይካ እያባ ግዶ። ኑኒ ሀይቆና አታና መላ ኑ ጋደይካ ኦፆና መላ ዘረꬅ ኑስ እማ” ያግዶሶና።BSBBSB: Why should we perish before your eyes—we and our land as well? Purchase us and our land in exchange for food. Then we, along with our land, will be slaves to Pharaoh. Give us seed that we may live and not die, and that the land may not become desolate.”
19. 20GOFEዮሰፍ ግብፀ ቢታ ኡባ ካዋስ ሻምስ። ኮሽ ሱልን፥ ግብፀ አሳይ ኡንኤትድ ባንታ ጋድያ ባይዝን ጋደይ ካዉዋባ ግድስ።BSBBSB: So Joseph acquired for Pharaoh all the land in Egypt; the Egyptians, one and all, sold their fields because the famine was so severe upon them. The land became Pharaoh’s,
20. 21GOFEዮሰፍ አሳ ኡባ ግብፀስ ሀ ጋፃፐ ህን ጋፃ ጋካናስ ካዋስ አይለ ኦꬅስ።BSBBSB: and Joseph reduced the people to servitude from one end of Egypt to the other.
21. 22GOFEሽን ካዎይ ካህነታስ ካꬅ እምያ ግሾ ዮሰፍ ኤንታ ጋድያ ሻምቤና። ሄሳ ግሾ፥ ባንታ ጋድያ ባይዝቦኮና።BSBBSB: However, he did not acquire the priests’ portion of the land, for it had been given to them by Pharaoh. They ate the rations that Pharaoh supplied; so they did not sell their land.
22. 23GOFEዮሰፍ አሳኮ፥ “ህዛ ሀች ታኒ ህንተናነ ህንተ ጋድያ ካዋስ ሻምዳ ግሾ፥ ዘረꬅ ኤፍድ ህንተ ጋደን ዘርተ።BSBBSB: Then Joseph said to the people, “Now that I have acquired you and your land for Pharaoh this day, here is seed for you to sow in the land.
23. 24GOFEሽን ካꬃ ሺሽያ ዎደ አይፍዳባፐ እቻሹ ኩሽያፐ እስ ኩሽያ ካዋስ እምተ። አትዳ ኦይዱ ኩሸይ ህንተ ጋድያስ ዘረꬅ፥ ህንተዉነ ህንተ ሶ አሳስ ካꬅ ግዶ” ያግስ።BSBBSB: At harvest time, you are to give a fifth of it to Pharaoh, and four-fifths will be yours as seed for the field and food for yourselves and your households and children.”
24. 25GOFEኤንቲ፥ “ኔኒ ኑና አሻዳሳ። ኑ ጎዳ ስንꬃን ኑኒ ሳበትኮ፥ ኑኒ ካዋስ አይለታና” ያግዶሶና።BSBBSB: “You have saved our lives,” they said. “We have found favor in our lord’s eyes, and we will be Pharaoh’s servants.”
25. 26GOFEሄሳ ግሾ፥ ዮሰፍ ግብፀ ቢታን አይፍዳባፐ እቻሹ ኩሽያፐ እሱዋ ካዋስ እመይሳ ህገ ከስስ። ሄ ዎጋይካ ሀች ጋካና ኤቅድ ደኤስ። ካህነታ ጋድያፐ አትሽን፥ ሀር ኡባይ ካዉዋባ ግድስ።BSBBSB: So Joseph established a law that a fifth of the produce belongs to Pharaoh, and it is in effect in the land of Egypt to this day. Only the priests’ land does not belong to Pharaoh.
26. 27GOFEእስራኤለት ግብፀ ቢታን ጌሳመ ግያ በሳን ደእዶሶና። ኤንቲ ያን ዱረትዶሶና፤ የለት ዳርዶሶና።BSBBSB: Now the Israelites settled in the land of Egypt, in the region of Goshen. They acquired property there and became fruitful and increased greatly in number.
27. 28GOFEያይቆብ ግብፀ ቢታን ታማነ ላፑን ላይꬅ ደእስ። ያይቆብ ደእዳ ላይꬃይ ፄታነ ኦይታማነ ላፑና።BSBBSB: And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years, and the length of his life was 147 years.
28. 29GOFEእስራኤለስ ሀይቅያ ዎደይ ማታትን፥ ባ ናኣ ዮሰፋ ፄግስድ ሀይሳዳ ያግስ፤ “ታኒ ነ ስንꬃን ሳበትዳባ ግድኮ፥ ነ ኩሽያ ታ ሸምፑዋ ቦላ ዎꬃ። ኔኒ ታዉ ምሸትያባ ግድኮ ታና ግብፀን ሞግከ ጋዳ ታዉ ጫቃ።BSBBSB: When the time drew near for Israel to die, he called his son Joseph and said to him, “If I have found favor in your eyes, put your hand under my thigh and promise to show me kindness and faithfulness. Do not bury me in Egypt,
29. 30GOFEሽን ታኒ ሀይቅያ ዎደ ታና ግብፀፈ ኤፋዳ፥ ታ ማይዛት ሞገትዳሱዋን ሞጋ” ያግስ። ዮሰፍ፥ “ታኒ፥ ነና ነ ግዳይሳዳ ኦꬃና” ያግስ።BSBBSB: but when I lie down with my fathers, carry me out of Egypt and bury me with them.” Joseph answered, “I will do as you have requested.”
30. 31GOFEያይቆብ እያኮ፥ “አነ ታዉ ጫቃ” ያግስ። ዮሰፍ እያዉ ጫቅስ። ሄሳፈ ጉየ፥ እስራኤለይ ባ ጉፍያ ቦላ ካትድ ፆሳ ጎይንስ።BSBBSB: “Swear to me,” Jacob said. So Joseph swore to him, and Israel bowed in worship at the head of his bed.
