1. 1GOFEካዎይ ፅባርዮስ ሮመ ቢታን ካዎትን፥ ታማነ እቻሻንꬆ ላይꬃን፥ ጰንፀ ጵላፆስ ይሁዳ ሃርያ ዎደ፥ ሄሮዲስ ጋልላ ሃርያ ዎደ፥ እያ እሻ ፍልጶስ እፁርያሳነ ፅራኮንዶሳ ሃርያ ዎደ፥ ልሳንዮስ አብላንሳ ሃርያ ዎደ፥BSBBSB: In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, while Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,
2. 2GOFEሃናራነ ቃያፋራ ካህነ ሀላቃ ግድ ደእሽን፥ ፆሳ ቃላይ ዛካርያሳ ናኣ ዮሃንሳኮ መላ ቢታ ይስ።BSBBSB: during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the wilderness.
3. 3GOFEዮሃንስ፥ “ህንተ ናጋራፐ ስምተነ ፃማቀትተ። ፆሳይ ህንተ ናጋራ አቶ ጋና” ያግድ ታማርስሸ ዮርዳኖሰ ሻፋ ሄራን ደእያ ቢታ ኡባ ብስ።BSBBSB: He went into all the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins,
4. 4GOFEሄስካ ናበይ እሳያስ ባ ማፃፋን፥ “መላ ቢታን ባ ቃላ ꬎቁ ኦꬅድ፥ ዋስያ ኡራ ቃላይ፥ ‘ጎዳ ኦግያ ጊግስተ፥ ሆሮጋካ ፕድ ኦꬅተ።BSBBSB: as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him.
5. 5GOFEአፎ ኡባይ ኩማና፥ ዙማይነ ደረይ ዝቅ ጋና። ዎበ ኦገይ ሉላና፥ ጊጎና ሆሮጋይ ቅንፅ ጋና።BSBBSB: Every valley shall be filled in, and every mountain and hill made low. The crooked ways shall be made straight, and the rough ways smooth.
6. 6GOFEአሾ ማእዳ ኡባይ፥ ፆሳ አሹዋ በአና’ ” ግድ ፃፍዳይሳዳ ሀንስ።BSBBSB: And all humanity will see God’s salvation.’”
7. 7GOFEዮሃንስ፥ ባ ኩሸን ፃማቀታናዉ ይዳ አሳኮ፥ “ህንተኖ፥ ሾሻ ናይቶ ያናዉ ደእያ ሀንቁዋፈ አታና መላ ህንተና ዞርዳይ ኦኔ?BSBBSB: Then John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?
8. 8GOFEህዛ፥ ህንተ ስሙዋ ቆንጭስያ ሎኦ ኦሶ ኦꬅተ፥ ህንተ ዎዛናን፥ ‘ኑስ፥ ኑ አዋይ አብራሃመይ ደኤስ ግድ ጬቀቶፍተ።’ ሃ ስእተ፥ ሀ ሹቻታፐ ፆሳይ አብራሃመስ ናአ ከሳናዉ ዳንዳኤስ።BSBBSB: Produce fruit, then, in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.
9. 9GOFEሄኮ፥ ቤፀይ ምꬃ ፃጶን ደኤስ። ህዛ፥ ሎኦ አይፈ አይፎና ምꬃ ኡባይ ቃንፀትድ ታማን የገታና” ያግስ።BSBBSB: The axe lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”
10. 10GOFEአሳይ፥ “ያትን ኑኒ አይ ኦꬅኖ?” ያግድ ኦይችዶሶና።BSBBSB: The crowds asked him, “What then should we do?”
11. 11GOFEዮሃንስ ዛሪድ፥ “ናምኡ አፍል ደእያ አስ ባይናይሳስ እሞ። ካꬅ ደኤይስ ባይናይሳስ እሞ” ያግስ።BSBBSB: John replied, “Whoever has two tunics should share with him who has none, and whoever has food should do the same.”
12. 12GOFEቃራፃ ቃንፅሰይሳት ፃማቀታናዉ ይድ፥ “አስታማርያዉ፥ ኑኒ አይ ኦꬅኖ?” ያግዶሶና።BSBBSB: Even tax collectors came to be baptized. “Teacher,” they asked, “what should we do?”
13. 13GOFEእ ዛሪድ፥ “ህንተ ቃንፅሳናዉ ኪተቶይሳፈ አꬅድ ኤኮፍተ” ያግስ።BSBBSB: “Collect no more than you are authorized,” he answered.
14. 14GOFEቃስ ዎታዳረት ይድ፥ “ኑኒ አይ ኦꬅኖ” ያግድ ኦይችዶሶና። ዮሃንስ፥ “ኦደባካ ዎልቃን ዳፍድ ኤኮፍተ፥ ኦናካ ዎርዶን ሞቶፕተ፥ ህንተ ዳሞዘይ ህንተዉ ግዶ፤ ኡፋይትድ ደእተ” ያግስ።BSBBSB: Then some soldiers asked him, “And what should we do?” “Do not take money by force or false accusation,” he said. “Be content with your wages.”
15. 15GOFEአሳይ ክርስቶሳ ናግሸ ደእያ ግሾ፥ ዮሃንሳ፥ “እ ክርስቶሳ ግዳንደሻ?” ግድ ቆፕዶሶና።BSBBSB: The people were waiting expectantly and were all wondering in their hearts if John could be the Christ.
16. 16GOFEዮሃንስ ኡባስ ዛሪድ፥ “ታኒ ህንተና ሃꬃን ፃማቃይስ፥ ሽን ታፐ አꬍድ ዎልቃመይስ ያና። ታኒ እያ ጫማ ዎዶሩዋ ብላናዉ በሶና አስ። እ ህንተና ጌሻ አያናንነ ታማን ፃማቃና።BSBBSB: John answered all of them: “I baptize you with water, but One more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
17. 17GOFEዉዱማን ደእያ ካꬃ ፖሎ ጌሻናዉ ፕይ እያ ኩሸን ደኤስ። ጌሻ ካꬃ ባ ሻልያን ቆላና፤ ካልያ ꬋዮና ታማን ፁጋና” ያግስ።BSBBSB: His winnowing fork is in His hand to clear His threshing floor and to gather the wheat into His barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
18. 18GOFEቃስ ዮሃንስ አሳ ዳሮ ዞረ ዞርድ ዎንገላ ኦድስ።BSBBSB: With these and many other exhortations, John proclaimed the good news to the people.
19. 19GOFEሽን ዮሃንስ ሄሮዲስ ባ እሻ ማችዉ፥ ሄሮድያዳ፥ ኤክዳ ግሾነ ሀራ ኢታ ኦሶታ ግሾ ሃንቄትዳ ዎደ፥BSBBSB: But when he rebuked Herod the tetrarch regarding his brother’s wife Herodias and all the evils he had done,
20. 20GOFEሄሮዲስ ካሰይሳ ቦላ ሀራባ ኡባ ጉጅድ ዮሃንሳ ዎይነ ገልስስ።BSBBSB: Herod added this to them all: He locked John up in prison.
21. 21GOFEዮሃንስ ቃሸታናፐ ስን አሳ ኡባ ፃማቅድ ስምን፥ ቃስ የሱሲካ ፃማቀትስ። እ ዎስሽን ሳሎይ ዶየትስ።BSBBSB: When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as He was praying, heaven was opened,
22. 22GOFEጌሻ አያናይ ሆለዳ በንትሸ እያ ቦላ ኡትስ። ሳሎፐ “ታኒ ዶስያ ናአይ ነና፤ ነ ታና ኡፋይሳሳ” ግያ ቃላይ ይስ።BSBBSB: and the Holy Spirit descended on Him in a bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”
