1. 1GOFEሄሳፈ ጉየ፥ የሱሲ ሺቅዳ አሳስነ ባ ታማረታስ ሀይሳዳ ያግስ።BSBBSB: Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to His disciples:
2. 2GOFE“ህገ አስታማረትነ ፋርሳወት ሙሰ ህግያ ብላናዉ ማታራ ደኦሶና።BSBBSB: “The scribes and Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat.
3. 3GOFEሄሳ ግሾ፥ ኤንቲ ህንተና ኪትያ ኡባ ኦꬅተነ ናግተ። ሽን ኤንቲ ኦይሳዳ ኦꬆፍተ። አይስ ጊኮ፥ ኤንቲ ኦደይሳዳ ኦꬆኮና።BSBBSB: So practice and observe everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.
4. 4GOFEኤንቲ ቶካናዉ ዳንዳኤቶና ቶሆ ቃችድ አሳ ቶሶሶና። ሽን ባንታዉ ሀር አቶሽን፥ ሄ ቶሁዋ አሳይ ቶክያ ዎደ ብራ ፄራን ቦቻናዉ ኮዮኮና።BSBBSB: They tie up heavy, burdensome loads and lay them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
5. 5GOFE“ሽን ኤንቲ ባንታ ኦሶ ኡባ አስ በኦና መላ ኦꬆሶና። ባንታ ሶምኦንነ ቀሰን ቃችያ ማፃፋ ፅቅሰይ ደእያ ክታፈ ዳልግሶሶና፥ ባንታ ማኡዋ ማጫራ አዱሶሶና።BSBBSB: All their deeds are done for men to see. They broaden their phylacteries and lengthen their tassels.
6. 6GOFEሞከትያ በሳን ቦንቾ በስነ አይሁደ ዎሳ ኬꬃታን ዳሮ ሎእያ ኦይደ ዶሶሶና።BSBBSB: They love the places of honor at banquets, the chief seats in the synagogues,
7. 7GOFEአሳይ ግያን ኤንታና ቦንቾን ሳሮꬃናይሳነ ‘አስታማርያዉ’ ግድ ፄጋናይሳ ኮዮሶና።BSBBSB: the greetings in the marketplaces, and the title of ‘Rabbi’ by which they are addressed.
8. 8GOFE“ሽን ህንተ አስታማረይ እሱዋ ፃላላ ግድዳ ግሾነ ህንተ ኡባይ እሻታ ግድዳ ግሾ፥ ‘አስታማርያዉ’ ጌተትድ ፄገቶፍተ።BSBBSB: But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers.
9. 9GOFEህንተዉ ሳሎን እስ አዋ ፃላል ደእያ ግሾ፥ ሀ ሳአን ኦናካ ‘አዋዉ’ ግድ ፄጎፕተ።BSBBSB: And do not call anyone on earth your father, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.
10. 10GOFEህንተዉ እስ ጎዳይ ክርስቶሳ ፃላል ደእያ ግሾ ‘ጎዳዉ’ ጌተትድ ፄገቶፍተ።BSBBSB: Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Christ.
11. 11GOFEህንተ ግዶን ባይራተይ ህንተ አይለ ግዶ።BSBBSB: The greatest among you shall be your servant.
12. 12GOFEባና ግታያ ኦንካ ካዉያና፤ ባና ካዉሽያ ኦንካ ግታታና።BSBBSB: For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
13. 13GOFE“ህንተኖ፥ ጩቦቶ፥ ህገ አስታማረቶነ ፋርሳወቶ፥ አሳ ስንꬃን ሳሎ ካዎተꬃ ጎርደይሳቶ ህንተና አየ! ህንተ፥ ህንተ ሁጰን ገለከታ ቃስ ሀራታካ ገልሰከታ።BSBBSB: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let in those who wish to enter.
14. 14GOFE“ህንተኖ ጩቦቶ፥ ህገ አስታማረቶነ፥ ፋርሳወቶ፥ አምኤታ ኬꬃ ህንተ ቦንቅሸ፥ አስ በኦ ግድ ዎሳ አዱሰታ። ሄሳ ግሾ፥ ህንተና አየ! ኡባፈ አꬍያ ፕርዳይ ህንተና ናጌስ።BSBBSB: Not in the BSB

15. 15GOFE“ህንተኖ፥ ጩቦቶ፥ ህገ አስታማረቶነ ፋርሳወቶ፥ ህንተ እስ ኡራ አማንꬃናዉ አባራነ ሳአራ ዩየታ። ሽን ህንተ እያ አማንꬅዳ ዎደ ሄ ኡራ ህንተፈ አꬅድ ጋናመስ ጊገትዳይሳ ኦꬅያ ግሾ፥ ህንተና አየ!BSBBSB: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You traverse land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.
16. 16GOFE“ኦንካ ፆሳ ኬꬃን ጫቅኮ አይኮይካ ባዋ። ሽን ፆሳ ኬꬃን ደእያ ዎርቃን ጫቅኮ፥ ሄ ጫቆይ እያ ጎማና ግያ ቆቀቶ፥ ህንተዉ ቆቅድ ሀራታ ካለይሳቶ፥ ህንተና አየ!BSBBSB: Woe to you, blind guides! You say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’
17. 17GOFEህንተኖ፥ ኤያቶ፥ ቆቀቶ፥ ዎርቃይ አꬍዬ? ዎርቅያ ፆሳስ ዱማያ ፆሳ ኬꬃይ አꬊ?BSBBSB: You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes it sacred?
18. 18GOFEቃስ ‘ኦንካ ያርሾ በሳን ጫቅኮ፥ አይኮይካ ባዋ። ሽን ኦንካ እያ ቦላ ደእያ ያርሹዋን ጫቅኮ፥ ሄ ጫቆይ እያ ጎማና’ ያግድ ታማርሴታ።BSBBSB: And you say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.’
19. 19GOFEህንተኖ፥ ቆቀቶ፥ ያርሾይ አꬍዬ? ያርሹዋ ፆሳስ ዱማያ በሳይ አꬊ?BSBBSB: You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes it sacred?
20. 20GOFEሄሳ ግሾ፥ ያርሾ በሳን ጫቅያ ኡራይ፥ ሄ ያርሾ በሳንነ እያ ቦላ ደእያ ኡባባን ጫቄስ።BSBBSB: So then, he who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it.
21. 21GOFEፆሳ ኬꬃን ጫቅያ ኡራይ፥ ሄ ፆሳ ኬꬃንነ እያን ደእያ ፆሳን ጫቄስ።BSBBSB: And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by the One who dwells in it.
22. 22GOFEሳሎን ጫቅያ ኡራይ ፆሳ አራታንነ ሄ አራታ ቦላ ኡትያ ፆሳን ጫቄስ።BSBBSB: And he who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the One who sits on it.
23. 23GOFE“ህንተኖ፥ ጩቦቶ፥ ህገ አስታማረቶነ ፋርሳወቶ፥ ህንተና አየ! ህንተ ካሬꬃ ሳዎፐ፥ ናትሮፐነ ኦካሸፐ አስራታ ከሴታ። ሽን ህገን ደእያ አꬍድ ኮሸይሳታ አግደታ። ሄስካ፥ ሱረ ፕርዳ፥ ቃተꬅነ ኡባባን አማነተꬅ። ሀራታካ አጎናሽን ሀይሳታ ህንተ ኦꬃናዉ በሴስ።BSBBSB: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You pay tithes of mint, dill, and cumin. But you have disregarded the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
24. 24GOFEህንተዉ ቆቅድ ሀራ አስ ካለይሳቶ፥ ህንተ ኡሻፈ ኡዱንፀ ከስድ ግማለ ምቴታ።BSBBSB: You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.
25. 25GOFE“ህንተኖ፥ ጩቦቶ፥ ህገ አስታማረቶነ ፋርሳወቶ፥ ህንተና አየ! ህንተ ሻትያስነ ከርያስ ቦላ ባጋ ጌሼታ። ሽን ኤንታዉ ጋርሳን ቦንቀይነ ኡዘተꬅ ኩም ኡትስ።BSBBSB: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.
26. 26GOFEነኖ ቆቀ ፋርሳውያዉ፥ ሻትያስነ ከርያስ ጋርሳ ካሰታዳ ጌሻ። ሄሳፈ ጉየ፥ ቦላ ባጋይካ ጌሽ ግዳና።BSBBSB: Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, so that the outside may become clean as well.
27. 27GOFE“ህንተኖ፥ ጩቦቶ፥ ህገ አስታማረቶነ ፋርሳወቶ፥ ህንተና አየ! ካረ ባጋራ ቃላመ ትየትድ ሎእድ፥ ግዶን መቀꬅነ ዎቅዳባይ ኩምዳ ዱፎታ ዳነታ።BSBBSB: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and every kind of impurity.
28. 28GOFEሄሳዳካ፥ ቦላ ባጋራ አሳስ ሎኦ ዳነታ። ሽን ህንተ ጋርሳን ጩቦተꬅነ ኢታተꬅ ኩምስ።BSBBSB: In the same way, on the outside you appear to be righteous, but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.
29. 29GOFE“ህንተኖ፥ ጩቦቶ፥ ህገ አስታማረቶነ ፋርሳወቶ፥ ህንተና አየ! ህንተ ናበታስ ዱፎ ኬፀታ፥ ቃስ ፅሎታ ዱፉዋካ ሎይꬄታ።BSBBSB: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous.
30. 30GOFEቃስ ህንተ፥ ‘ኑኒ በን ኑ አዋታ ዎደ ደእዳባ ግድያኮ፥ ኤንታራ እስፈ ናበታ ሱꬃ ጉሶኮሽን’ ያጌታ።BSBBSB: And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’
31. 31GOFEሄሳ ግሾ፥ ህንተ ናበታ ዎꬍዳ አሳ ናይታ ግደይሳ ህንተ ህንተ ሁጰን ማርካቴታ።BSBBSB: So you testify against yourselves that you are the sons of those who murdered the prophets.
32. 32GOFEህዛ፥ ህንተ አዋት ዶምዳይሳ ህንተ ፖልተ።BSBBSB: Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your fathers.
33. 33GOFE“ሀ ሾሻቶ፥ ሾሻ ናይቶ፥ ህንተ ጋናመ ፕርዳፈ ዋንድ አታኔ?BSBBSB: You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape the sentence of hell?
34. 34GOFEሄሳ ግሾ፥ ሄኮ፥ ታኒ ናበታ፥ ጭንጫ አሳታነ አስታማረታ ህንተኮ ኪታና። ኤንታፈ እሶታ እሶታ ህንተ ዎꬋናነ ማስቃላ ቦላ ካቃና። ባጋታ አይሁደ ዎሳ ኬꬃታን ልሶን ጋራፋናነ ካታማፐ ካታማ ጎዳና።BSBBSB: Because of this, I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify, and others you will flog in your synagogues and persecute from town to town.
35. 35GOFEሄሳ ግሾ፥ ፅሉዋ አበላ ዎꬍዳ ዎደፐ ዶምድ፥ ፆሳ ኬꬃስነ ያርሾ በሳፈ ግዶን ህንተ ዎꬍዳ ባራካ ናአ ዛካርያሳ ዎደ ጋካናዉ ሀይቅዳ ፅሎ አሳ ኡባ ግሾ፥ ህንተ ሴረታና።BSBBSB: And so upon you will come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.
36. 36GOFEታኒ ህንተዉ ቱማ ኦዳይስ፤ ህንተነ ህንተ አዋት ኦꬅዳ ናጋራስ ሀ ፕርዳ ኡባይ ሀ የለተꬃ ቦላ ጋካና።BSBBSB: Truly I tell you, all these things will come upon this generation.
37. 37GOFE“የሩሳላመ፥ የሩሳላመ፥ ናበታ ዎꬍያረ! ፆሳይ ኔኮ ኪትዳይሳታ ሹቻን ጫድያረ! ኩቶይ ባ ናይታ ባ ቀፈን ሀጰይሳዳ ታኒ ነ አሳ ታ ቀስያን ገቻናዉ አፑን ቶሆ ኮያድና! ሽን ታና ድጋዳሳ።BSBBSB: O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those sent to her, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were unwilling!
38. 38GOFEህዛ፥ ሄኮ፥ ህንተ ኬꬃይ ካይስ ግዳና።BSBBSB: Look, your house is left to you desolate.
39. 39GOFEታኒ ህንተዉ ኦዳይስ፤ ‘ጎዳ ሱንꬃን የይስ አንጀትዳይሳ’ ህንተ ጋና ጋካናዉ ናምአንꬆ ታና በኤከታ” ያግስ።BSBBSB: For I tell you that you will not see Me again until you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.’”
