Ezekiel 13 (LXX)

1ΚΑΙ ἐγένετο λόγος Κυρίου πρός με λέγων·Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

2υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, προφήτευσον ἐπὶ τοὺς προφήτας τοῦ Ἰσραὴλ καὶ προφητεύσεις καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς· ἀκούσατε λόγον Κυρίου.“Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are now prophesying. Tell those who prophesy out of their own imagination: Hear the word of the LORD!

3τάδε λέγει Κύριος· οὐαὶ τοῖς προφητεύουσιν ἀπὸ καρδίας αὐτῶν καὶ τὸ καθόλου μὴ βλέπουσιν.This is what the Lord GOD says: Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit yet have seen nothing.

4ὡς ἀλώπεκες ἐν ταῖς ἐρήμοις, οἱ προφῆταί σου Ἰσραήλ.Your prophets, O Israel, are like foxes among the ruins.

5οὐκ ἔστησαν ἐν στερεώματι καὶ συνήγαγον ποίμνια ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον τοῦ Ἰσραήλ· οὐκ ἀνέστησαν οἱ λέγοντες· ἐν ἡμέρᾳ Κυρίου·You did not go up to the gaps or restore the wall around the house of Israel so that it would stand in the battle on the Day of the LORD.

6βλέποντες ψευδῆ, μαντευόμενοι μάταια, οἱ λέγοντες· λέγει Κύριος, καὶ Κύριος οὐκ ἀπέσταλκεν αὐτούς, καὶ ἤρξαντο τοῦ ἀναστῆσαι λόγον.They see false visions and speak lying divinations. They claim, ‘Thus declares the LORD,’ when the LORD did not send them; yet they wait for the fulfillment of their message.

7οὐχὶ ὅρασιν ψευδῆ ἑωράκατε καὶ μαντείας ματαίας εἰρήκατε;Haven’t you seen a false vision and spoken a lying divination when you proclaim, ‘Thus declares the LORD,’ even though I have not spoken?

8διὰ τοῦτο εἰπόν· τάδε λέγει Κύριος· ἀνθ᾿ ὧν οἱ λόγοι ὑμῶν ψευδεῖς καὶ αἱ μαντεῖαι ὑμῶν μάταιαι, διὰ τοῦτο ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐφ᾿ ὑμᾶς, λέγει Κύριος,Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: Because you have uttered vain words and seen false visions, I am against you, declares the Lord GOD.

9καὶ ἐκτενῶ τὴν χεῖρά μου ἐπὶ τοὺς προφήτας τοὺς ὁρῶντας ψευδῆ καὶ τοὺς ἀποφθεγγομένους μάταια· ἐν παιδείᾳ τοῦ λαοῦ μου οὐκ ἔσονται, οὐδὲ ἐν γραφῇ οἴκου Ἰσραὴλ οὐ γραφήσονται καὶ εἰς τὴν γῆν τοῦ Ἰσραὴλ οὐκ εἰσελεύσονται· καὶ γνώσονται διότι ἐγὼ Κύριος·My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and speak lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of My people or be recorded in the register of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord GOD.

10ἀνθ᾿ ὧν ἐπλάνησαν τὸν λαόν μου λέγοντες· εἰρήνη εἰρήνη, καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν εἰρήνη, καὶ οὗτος οἰκοδομεῖ τοῖχον, καὶ αὐτοὶ ἀλείφουσιν αὐτόν, εἰ πεσεῖται,Because they have led My people astray, saying, ‘Peace,’ when there is no peace, and whitewashing any flimsy wall that is built,

11εἰπὸν πρὸς τοὺς ἀλείφοντας· πεσεῖται, καὶ ἔσται ὑετὸς κατακλύζων, καὶ δώσω λίθους πετροβόλους εἰς τοὺς ἐνδέσμους αὐτῶν, καὶ πεσοῦνται, καὶ πνεῦμα ἐξαῖρον, καὶ ραγήσεται.tell those whitewashing the wall that it will fall. Rain will come in torrents, I will send hailstones plunging down, and a windstorm will burst forth.

12καὶ ἰδοὺ πέπτωκεν ὁ τοῖχος, καὶ οὐκ ἐροῦσι πρὸς ὑμᾶς· ποῦ ἐστιν ἡ ἀλοιφὴ ὑμῶν, ἣν ἠλείψατε;Surely when the wall has fallen, you will not be asked, ‘Where is the whitewash with which you covered it?’

13διὰ τοῦτο τάδε λέγει Κύριος· καὶ ρήξω πνοὴν ἐξαίρουσαν μετὰ θυμοῦ, καὶ ὑετὸς κατακλύζων ἐν ὀργῇ μου ἔσται, καὶ τοὺς λίθους τοὺς πετροβόλους ἐν θυμῷ ἐπάξω εἰς συντέλειανTherefore this is what the Lord GOD says: In My wrath I will release a windstorm, and in My anger torrents of rain and hail will fall with destructive fury.

14καὶ κατασκάψω τὸν τοῖχον, ὃν ἠλείψατε, καὶ πεσεῖται· καὶ θήσω αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν, καὶ ἀποκαλυφθήσεται τὰ θεμέλια αὐτοῦ, καὶ πεσεῖται, καὶ συντελεσθήσεσθε μετ᾿ ἐλέγχων· καὶ ἐπιγνώσεσθε διότι ἐγὼ Κύριος.I will tear down the wall you whitewashed and level it to the ground, so that its foundation is exposed. The city will fall, and you will be destroyed within it. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

15καὶ συντελέσω τὸν θυμόν μου ἐπὶ τὸν τοῖχον καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς ἀλείφοντας αὐτόν, καὶ πεσεῖται. καὶ εἶπα πρὸς ὑμᾶς· οὐκ ἔστιν ὁ τοῖχος οὐδὲ οἱ ἀλείφοντες αὐτὸνAnd after I have vented My wrath against the wall and against those who whitewashed it, I will say to you: ‘The wall is gone, and so are those who whitewashed it—

16προφῆται τοῦ Ἰσραὴλ οἱ προφητεύοντες ἐπὶ Ἱερουσαλὴμ καὶ οἱ ὁρῶντες αὐτῇ εἰρήνην, καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν εἰρήνη, λέγει Κύριος.those prophets of Israel who prophesied to Jerusalem and saw a vision of peace for her when there was no peace, declares the Lord GOD.’

17Καὶ σύ, υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, στήρισον τὸ πρόσωπόν σου ἐπὶ τὰς θυγατέρας τοῦ λαοῦ σου τὰς προφητευούσας ἀπὸ καρδίας αὐτῶν καὶ προφήτευσον ἐπ᾿ αὐτὰςNow, O son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people who prophesy out of their own imagination. Prophesy against them

18καὶ ἐρεῖς· τάδε λέγει Κύριος· οὐαὶ ταῖς συρραπτούσαις προσκεφάλαια ὑπὸ πάντα ἀγκῶνα χειρὸς καὶ ποιούσαις ἐπιβόλαια ἐπὶ πᾶσαν κεφαλὴν πάσης ἡλικίας τοῦ διαστρέφειν ψυχάς· αἱ ψυχαὶ διεστράφησαν τοῦ λαοῦ μου, καὶ ψυχὰς περιεποιοῦντο.and tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: Woe to the women who sew magic charms on their wrists and make veils for the heads of people of every height, in order to ensnare their souls. Will you ensnare the souls of My people but preserve your own?

19καὶ ἐβεβήλουν με πρὸς τὸν λαόν μου ἕνεκεν δρακὸς κριθῶν καὶ ἕνεκεν κλασμάτων ἄρτων τοῦ ἀποκτεῖναι ψυχάς, ἃς οὐκ ἔδει ἀποθανεῖν, καὶ τοῦ περιποιήσασθαι ψυχάς, ἃς οὐκ ἔδει ζῆσαι, ἐν τῷ ἀποφθέγγεσθαι ὑμᾶς λαῷ εἰσακούοντι μάταια ἀποφθέγματα.You have profaned Me among My people for handfuls of barley and scraps of bread. By lying to My people who would listen, you have killed those who should not have died and spared those who should not have lived.

20διὰ τοῦτο τάδε λέγει Κύριος Κύριος· ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐπὶ τὰ προσκεφάλαια ὑμῶν, ἐφ᾿ ἃ ὑμεῖς ἐκεῖ συστρέφετε ψυχάς, καὶ διαρρήξω αὐτὰ ἀπὸ τῶν βραχιόνων ὑμῶν καὶ ἐξαποστελῶ τὰς ψυχάς, ἃς ὑμεῖς ἐκστρέφετε τὰς ψυχὰς αὐτῶν, εἰς διασκορπισμόν·Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: See, I am against the magic charms with which you ensnare souls like birds, and I will tear them from your arms. So I will free the souls you have ensnared like birds.

21καὶ διαρρήξω τὰ ἐπιβόλαια ὑμῶν καὶ ρύσομαι τὸν λαόν μου ἐκ χειρὸς ὑμῶν, καὶ οὐκέτι ἔσονται ἐν χερσὶν ὑμῶν εἰς συστροφήν· καὶ ἐπιγνώσεσθε διότι ἐγὼ Κύριος.I will also tear off your veils and deliver My people from your hands, so that they will no longer be prey in your hands. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

22ἀνθ᾿ ὧν διεστρέφετε καρδίαν δικαίου ἀδίκως, καὶ ἐγὼ οὐ διέστρεφον αὐτόν, καὶ τοῦ κατισχῦσαι χεῖρας ἀνόμου τὸ καθόλου μὴ ἀποστρέψαι ἀπὸ τῆς ὁδοῦ αὐτοῦ τῆς πονηρᾶς καὶ ζῆσαι αὐτόν,Because you have disheartened the righteous with your lies, even though I have caused them no grief, and because you have encouraged the wicked not to turn from their evil ways to save their lives,

23διὰ τοῦτο ψευδῆ οὐ μὴ ἴδητε καὶ μαντείας οὐ μὴ μαντεύσησθε ἔτι, καὶ ρύσομαι τὸν λαόν μου ἐκ χειρὸς ὑμῶν· καὶ γνώσεσθε ὅτι ἐγὼ Κύριος.therefore you will no longer see false visions or practice divination. I will deliver My people from your hands. Then you will know that I am the LORD.”
