1. 1LXXΚΑΙ ἤκουσε Πασχὼρ ὁ υἱὸς Ἐμμὴρ ὁ ἱερεύς καὶ οὗτος ἦν καθεσταμένος ἡγούμενος οἴκου Κυρίου τοῦ Ἱερεμίου προφητεύοντος τοὺς λόγους τούτους.BSBBSB: When Pashhur the priest, the son of Immer and the chief official in the house of the LORD, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things,
2. 2LXXκαὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν καὶ ἐνέβαλεν αὐτὸν εἰς τὸν καταρράκτην, ὃς ἦν ἐν πύλῃ οἴκου ἀποτεταγμένου τοῦ ὑπερῴου, ὃς ἦν ἐν οἴκῳ Κυρίου.BSBBSB: he had Jeremiah the prophet beaten and put in the stocks at the Upper Gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the LORD.
3. 3LXXκαὶ ἐξήγαγε Πασχὼρ τὸν Ἱερεμίαν ἐκ τοῦ καταρράκτου, καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ἱερεμίας· οὐχὶ Πασχὼρ ἐκάλεσε Κύριος τὸ ὄνομά σου, ἀλλ' ἢ Μέτοικον.BSBBSB: The next day, when Pashhur released Jeremiah from the stocks, Jeremiah said to him, “The LORD does not call you Pashhur, but Magor-missabib.
4. 4LXXδιότι τάδε λέγει Κύριος· ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ δίδωμί σε εἰς μετοικίαν σὺν πᾶσι τοῖς φίλοις σου, καὶ πεσοῦνται ἐν μαχαίρᾳ ἐχθρῶν αὐτῶν, καὶ οἱ ὀφθαλμοί σου ὄψονται, καὶ σὲ καὶ πάντα Ἰούδαν δώσω εἰς χεῖρας βασιλέως Βαβυλῶνος, καὶ μετοικιοῦσιν αὐτοὺς καὶ κατακόψουσιν ἐν μαχαίραις.BSBBSB: For this is what the LORD says: ‘I will make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends. They will fall by the sword of their enemies before your very eyes. And I will hand Judah over to the king of Babylon, and he will carry them away to Babylon and put them to the sword.
5. 5LXXκαὶ δώσω τὴν πᾶσαν ἰσχὺν τῆς πόλεως ταύτης καὶ πάντας τοὺς πόνους αὐτῆς καὶ πάντας τοὺς θησαυροὺς τοῦ βασιλέως Ἰούδα εἰς χεῖρας ἐχθρῶν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἄξουσιν αὐτοὺς εἰς Βαβυλῶνα.BSBBSB: I will give away all the wealth of this city—all its products and valuables, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah—to their enemies. They will plunder them, seize them, and carry them off to Babylon.
6. 6LXXκαὶ σὺ καὶ πάντες οἱ κατοικοῦντες ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ σου πορεύσεσθε ἐν αἰχμαλωσίᾳ, καὶ ἐν Βαβυλῶνι ἀποθανῇ καὶ ἐκεῖ ταφήσῃ, σὺ καὶ πάντες οἱ φίλοι σου, οἷς ἐπροφήτευσας αὐτοῖς ψευδῆ.BSBBSB: And you, Pashhur, and all who live in your house, will go into captivity. You will go to Babylon, and there you will die and be buried—you and all your friends to whom you have prophesied these lies.’”
7. 7LXXἨπάτησάς με, Κύριε, καὶ ἠπατήθην, ἐκράτησας καὶ ἠδυνάσθης· ἐγενόμην εἰς γέλωτα, πᾶσαν ἡμέραν διετέλεσα μυκτηριζόμενος·BSBBSB: You have deceived me, O LORD, and I was deceived. You have overcome me and prevailed. I am a laughingstock all day long; everyone mocks me.
8. 8LXXὅτι πικρῷ λόγῳ μου γελάσομαι, ἀθεσίαν καὶ ταλαιπωρίαν ἐπικαλέσομαι, ὅτι ἐγενήθη λόγος Κυρίου εἰς ὀνειδισμὸν ἐμοὶ καὶ εἰς χλευασμὸν πᾶσαν ἡμέραν μου.BSBBSB: For whenever I speak, I cry out; I proclaim violence and destruction. For the word of the LORD has become to me a reproach and derision all day long.
9. 9LXXκαὶ εἶπα· οὐ μὴ ὀνομάσω τὸ ὄνομα Κυρίου καὶ οὐ μὴ λαλήσω ἔτι ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματι αὐτοῦ. καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς πῦρ καιόμενον φλέγον ἐν τοῖς ὀστέοις μου, καὶ παρεῖμαι πάντοθεν καὶ οὐ δύναμαι φέρειν.BSBBSB: If I say, “I will not mention Him or speak any more in His name,” His message becomes a fire burning in my heart, shut up in my bones, and I become weary of holding it in, and I cannot prevail.
10. 10LXXὅτι ἤκουσα ψόγον πολλῶν συναθροιζομένων κυκλόθεν· ἐπισύστητε καὶ ἐπισυστῶμεν αὐτῷ, πάντες ἄνδρες φίλοι αὐτοῦ· τηρήσατε τὴν ἐπίνοιαν αὐτοῦ, εἰ ἀπατηθήσεται καὶ δυνησόμεθα αὐτῷ καὶ ληψόμεθα τὴν ἐκδίκησιν ἡμῶν ἐξ αὐτοῦ.BSBBSB: For I have heard the whispering of many: “Terror is on every side! Report him; let us report him!” All my trusted friends watch for my fall: “Perhaps he will be deceived so that we may prevail against him and take our vengeance upon him.”
11. 11LXXὁ δὲ Κύριος μετ' ἐμοῦ καθὼς μαχητὴς ἰσχύων· διὰ τοῦτο ἐδίωξαν καὶ νοῆσαι οὐκ ἠδύναντο· ᾐσχύνθησαν σφόδρα, ὅτι οὐκ ἐνόησαν ἀτιμίας αὐτῶν, αἳ δι' αἰῶνος οὐκ ἐπιλησθήσονται.BSBBSB: But the LORD is with me like a fearsome warrior. Therefore, my persecutors will stumble and will not prevail. Since they have not succeeded, they will be utterly put to shame, with an everlasting disgrace that will never be forgotten.
12. 12LXXΚύριε, δοκιμάζων δίκαια, συνίων νεφροὺς καὶ καρδίας, ἴδοιμι τὴν παρὰ σοῦ ἐκδίκησιν ἐν αὐτοῖς, ὅτι πρὸς σὲ ἀπεκάλυψα τὰ ἀπολογήματά μου.BSBBSB: O LORD of Hosts, who examines the righteous, who sees the heart and mind, let me see Your vengeance upon them, for to You I have committed my cause.
13. 13LXXᾌσατε τῷ Κυρίῳ, αἰνέσατε αὐτῷ, ὅτι ἐξείλατο ψυχὴν πένητος ἐκ χειρὸς πονηρευομένων.BSBBSB: Sing to the LORD! Praise the LORD! For He rescues the life of the needy from the hands of evildoers.
14. 14LXXἘπικατάρατος ἡ ἡμέρα, ἐν ᾗ ἐτέχθην ἐν αὐτῇ· ἡ ἡμέρα, ἐν ᾗ ἔτεκέ με ἡ μήτηρ μου, μὴ ἔστω ἐπευκτή.BSBBSB: Cursed be the day I was born! May the day my mother bore me never be blessed.
15. 15LXXἐπικατάρατος ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὁ εὐαγγελισάμενος τῷ πατρί μου λέγων· ἐτέχθη σοι ἄρσην, εὐφραινόμενος.BSBBSB: Cursed be the man who brought my father the news, saying, “A son is born to you,” bringing him great joy.
16. 16LXXἔστω ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἐκεῖνος ὡς αἱ πόλεις, ἃς κατέστρεψε Κύριος ἐν θυμῷ καὶ οὐ μετεμελήθη· ἀκουσάτω κραυγῆς τῷ πρωΐ καὶ ἀλαλαγμοῦ μεσημβρίας,BSBBSB: May that man be like the cities that the LORD overthrew without compassion. May he hear an outcry in the morning and a battle cry at noon,
17. 17LXXὅτι οὐκ ἀπέκτεινέ με ἐν μήτρᾳ μητρὸς καὶ ἐγένετό μοι ἡ μήτηρ μου τάφος μου καὶ ἡ μήτρα συλλήψεως αἰωνίας.BSBBSB: because he did not kill me in the womb so that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb forever enlarged.
18. 18LXXἱνατί τοῦτο ἐξῆλθον ἐκ μήτρας τοῦ βλέπειν κόπους καὶ πόνους, καὶ διετέλεσαν ἐν αἰσχύνῃ αἱ ἡμέραι μου;BSBBSB: Why did I come out of the womb to see only trouble and sorrow, and to end my days in shame?
