1. 1LXXΟΥΤΩΣ εἶπε Κύριος· μὴ υἱοὶ οὐκ εἰσὶν ἐν Ἰσραήλ, ἢ παραληψόμενος οὐκ ἔστιν αὐτοῖς; διατί παρέλαβε Μελχὸλ τὴν Γαλαάδ, καὶ ὁ λαὸς αὐτῶν ἐν πόλεσιν αὐτῶν ἐνοικήσει;BSBBSB: Concerning the Ammonites, this is what the LORD says: “Has Israel no sons? Is he without heir? Why then has Milcom taken possession of Gad? Why have his people settled in their cities?
2. 2LXXδιὰ τοῦτο ἰδοὺ ἡμέραι ἔρχονται, φησὶ Κύριος, καὶ ἀκουτιῶ ἐπὶ Ραββὰθ θόρυβον πολέμων, καὶ ἔσονται εἰς ἄβατον καὶ εἰς ἀπώλειαν, καὶ βωμοὶ αὐτῆς ἐν πυρὶ κατακαυθήσονται, καὶ παραλήψεται Ἰσραὴλ τὴν ἀρχὴν αὐτοῦ.BSBBSB: Therefore, behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will sound the battle cry against Rabbah of the Ammonites. It will become a heap of ruins, and its villages will be burned. Then Israel will drive out their dispossessors, says the LORD.
3. 3LXXἀλάλαξον Ἐσεβών, ὅτι ὤλετο Γαΐ· κεκράξατε θυγατέρες Ραββάθ, περιζώσασθε σάκκους καὶ κόψασθε, ὅτι Μελχὸλ βαδιεῖται ἐν ἀποικίᾳ, οἱ ἱερεῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες αὐτοῦ ἅμα.BSBBSB: Wail, O Heshbon, for Ai has been destroyed; cry out, O daughters of Rabbah! Put on sackcloth and mourn; run back and forth within your walls, for Milcom will go into exile together with his priests and officials.
4. 4LXXτί ἀγαλλιᾶσθε ἐν τοῖς πεδίοις Ἐνακείμ, θύγατερ ἰταμίας, ἡ πεποιθυῖα ἐπὶ θησαυροῖς αὐτῆς, ἡ λέγουσα· τίς εἰσελεύσεται ἐπ' ἐμέ;BSBBSB: Why do you boast of your valleys—your valleys so fruitful, O faithless daughter? You trust in your riches and say, ‘Who can come against me?’
5. 5LXXἰδοὺ ἐγὼ φέρω φόβον ἐπὶ σέ, εἶπε Κύριος, ἀπὸ πάσης τῆς περιοίκου σου, καὶ διασπαρήσεσθε ἕκαστος εἰς τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ, καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ συνάγων.BSBBSB: Behold, I am about to bring terror upon you, declares the Lord GOD of Hosts, from all those around you. You will each be driven headlong, with no one to regather the fugitives.
6. 8LXXἠπατήθη ὁ τόπος αὐτῶν. βαθύνατε εἰς κάθισιν οἱ κατοικοῦντες ἐν Δαιδάν, ὅτι δύσκολα ἐποίησεν· ἤγαγον ἐπ' αὐτὸν ἐν χρόνῳ, ᾧ ἐπεσκεψάμην ἐπ' αὐτόν.BSBBSB: Turn and run! Lie low, O dwellers of Dedan, for I will bring disaster on Esau at the time I punish him.
7. 9LXXὅτι τρυγηταὶ ἦλθόν σοι, οἳ οὐ καταλείψουσί σοι κατάλειμμα· ὡς κλέπται ἐν νυκτὶ ἐπιθήσουσι χεῖρα αὐτῶν.BSBBSB: If grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave some gleanings? Were thieves to come in the night, would they not steal only what they wanted?
8. 10LXXὅτι ἐγὼ κατέσυρα τὸν Ἡσαῦ, ἀνεκάλυψα τά κρυπτὰ αὐτῶν, κρυβῆναι οὐ μὴ δύνωνται· ὤλοντο διά χεῖρα ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ γείτονος αὐτοῦ, καὶ οὐκ ἔστινBSBBSB: But I will strip Esau bare; I will uncover his hiding places, and he will be unable to conceal himself. His descendants will be destroyed along with his relatives and neighbors, and he will be no more.
9. 11LXXὑπολείπεσθαι ὀρφανόν σου, ἵνα ζήσητε· καὶ ἐγὼ ζήσομαι, καὶ αἱ χῆραι ἐπ' ἐμὲ πεποίθασιν.BSBBSB: Abandon your orphans; I will preserve their lives. Let your widows trust in Me.”
10. 12LXXὅτι τάδε εἶπε Κύριος· οἷς οὐκ ἦν νόμος πιεῖν τὸ ποτήριον, ἔπιον· καὶ σὺ ἀθῳωμένη οὐ μὴ ἀθῳωθῇς, ὅτι πίνων πίεσαι·BSBBSB: For this is what the LORD says: “If those who do not deserve to drink the cup must drink it, can you possibly remain unpunished? You will not go unpunished, for you must drink it too.
11. 13LXXὅτι κατ' ἐμαυτοῦ ὤμοσα, λέγει Κύριος, ὅτι εἰς ἄβατον καὶ εἰς ὀνειδισμὸν καὶ εἰς κατάρασιν ἔσῃ ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς, καὶ πᾶσαι αἱ πόλεις αὐτῆς ἔσονται ἔρημοι εἰς αἰῶνα.BSBBSB: For by Myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, that Bozrah will become a desolation, a disgrace, a ruin, and a curse, and all her cities will be in ruins forever.”
12. 14LXXἀκοὴν ἤκουσα παρὰ Κυρίου, καὶ ἀγγέλους εἰς ἔθνη ἀπέστειλε· συνάχθητε καὶ παραγένεσθε εἰς αὐτήν, ἀνάστητε εἰς πόλεμον.BSBBSB: I have heard a message from the LORD; an envoy has been sent to the nations: “Assemble yourselves to march against her! Rise up for battle!”
13. 15LXXμικρὸν ἔδωκά σε ἐν ἔθνεσιν, εὐκαταφρόνητον ἐν ἀνθρώποις.BSBBSB: “For behold, I will make you small among nations, despised among men.
14. 16LXXἡ παιγνία σου ἐνεχείρησέ σοι, ἰταμία καρδίας σου κατέλυσε τρυμαλιὰς πετρῶν, συνέλαβεν ἰσχὺν βουνοῦ ὑψηλοῦ· ὅτι ὕψωσεν ὥσπερ ἀετὸς νοσσιὰν αὐτοῦ, ἐκεῖθεν καθελῶ σε·BSBBSB: The terror you cause and the pride of your heart have deceived you, O dwellers in the clefts of the rocks, O occupiers of the mountain summit. Though you elevate your nest like the eagle, even from there I will bring you down,” declares the LORD.
15. 17LXXκαὶ ἔσται ἡ Ἰδουμαία εἰς ἄβατον, πᾶς ὁ παραπορευόμενος ἐπ' αὐτὴν συριεῖ.BSBBSB: “Edom will become an object of horror. All who pass by will be appalled and will scoff at all her wounds.
16. 18LXXὥσπερ κατεστράφη Σόδομα καὶ Γόμορρα καὶ αἱ πάροικοι αὐτῆς, εἶπε Κύριος παντοκράτωρ, οὐ μὴ καθίσει ἐκεῖ ἄνθρωπος, καὶ οὐ μὴ κατοικήσει ἐκεῖ υἱὸς ἀνθρώπου.BSBBSB: As Sodom and Gomorrah were overthrown along with their neighbors,” says the LORD, “no one will dwell there; no man will abide there.
17. 19LXXἰδοὺ ὥσπερ λέων ἀναβήσεται ἐκ μέσου τοῦ Ἰορδάνου εἰς τόπον Αἰθάμ, ὅτι ταχὺ ἐκδιώξω αὐτοὺς ἀπ' αὐτῆς· καὶ τοὺς νεανίσκους ἐπ' αὐτὴν ἐπιστήσατε, ὅτι τίς ὥσπερ ἐγώ; καὶ τίς ἀντιστήσεταί μοι; καὶ τίς οὗτος ποιμήν, ὃς στήσεται κατὰ πρόσωπόν μου;BSBBSB: Behold, one will come up like a lion from the thickets of the Jordan to the watered pasture. For in an instant I will chase Edom from her land. Who is the chosen one I will appoint for this? For who is like Me, and who can challenge Me? What shepherd can stand against Me?”
18. 20LXXδιὰ τοῦτο ἀκούσατε βουλὴν Κυρίου, ἣν ἐβουλεύσατο ἐπὶ τὴν Ἰδουμαίαν, καὶ λογισμὸν αὐτοῦ, ὃν ἐλογίσατο ἐπὶ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Θαιμάν· ἐὰν μὴ συμψηθῶσι τὰ ἐλάχιστα τῶν προβάτων, ἐὰν μὴ ἀβατωθῇ ἐπ' αὐτοὺς κατάλυσις αὐτῶν·BSBBSB: Therefore hear the plans that the LORD has drawn up against Edom and the strategies He has devised against the people of Teman: Surely the little ones of the flock will be dragged away; certainly their pasture will be made desolate because of them.
19. 21LXXὅτι ἀπὸ φωνῆς πτώσεως αὐτῶν ἐφοβήθη ἡ γῆ, καὶ κραυγή σου ἐν θαλάσσῃ ἠκούσθη.BSBBSB: At the sound of their fall the earth will quake; their cry will resound to the Red Sea.
20. 22LXXἰδοὺ ὥσπερ ἀετὸς ὄψεται καὶ ἐκτενεῖ τὰς πτέρυγας ἐπ' ὀχυρώματα αὐτῆς· καὶ ἔσται ἡ καρδία τῶν ἰσχυρῶν τῆς Ἰδουμαίας ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ὡς καρδία γυναικὸς ὠδινούσης.BSBBSB: Look! An eagle will soar and swoop down, spreading its wings over Bozrah. In that day the hearts of Edom’s mighty men will be like the heart of a woman in labor.
21. 23LXXΤῇ Δαμασκῷ. Κατῃσχύνθη Ἠμὰθ καὶ Ἀρφάδ, ὅτι ἤκουσαν ἀκοὴν πονηράν· ἐξέστησαν, ἐθυμώθησαν, ἀναπαύσασθαι οὐ μὴ δύνωνται.BSBBSB: Concerning Damascus: “Hamath and Arpad are put to shame, for they have heard a bad report; they are agitated like the sea; their anxiety cannot be calmed.
22. 24LXXἐξελύθη Δαμασκός, ἀπεστράφη εἰς φυγήν, τρόμος ἐπελάβετο αὐτῆς.BSBBSB: Damascus has become feeble; she has turned to flee. Panic has gripped her; anguish and pain have seized her like a woman in labor.
23. 25LXXπῶς οὐχὶ ἐγκατέλιπε πόλιν ἐμήν; κώμην ἠγάπησαν·BSBBSB: How is the city of praise not forsaken, the town that brings Me joy?
24. 26LXXδιὰ τοῦτο πεσοῦνται νεανίσκοι ἐν πλατείαις σου, καὶ πάντες οἱ ἄνδρες οἱ πολεμισταί σου πεσοῦνται, φησὶ Κύριος·BSBBSB: For her young men will fall in the streets, and all her warriors will be silenced in that day,” declares the LORD of Hosts.
25. 27LXXκαὶ καύσω πῦρ ἐν τείχει Δαμασκοῦ, καὶ καταφάγεται ἄμφοδα υἱοῦ Ἄδερ.BSBBSB: “I will set fire to the walls of Damascus; it will consume the fortresses of Ben-hadad.”
26. 28LXXΤῇ Κηδὰρ τῇ βασιλίσσῃ τῆς αὐλῆς, ἣν ἐπάταξε Ναβουχοδονόσορ βασιλεὺς Βαβυλῶνος. Οὕτως εἶπε Κύριος· ἀνάστητε καὶ ἀνάβητε ἐπὶ Κηδὰρ καὶ πλήσατε τοὺς υἱοὺς Κεδέμ·BSBBSB: Concerning Kedar and the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon defeated, this is what the LORD says: “Rise up, advance against Kedar, and destroy the people of the east!
27. 29LXXσκηνὰς αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ πρόβατα αὐτῶν λήψονται, ἱμάτια αὐτῶν καὶ πάντα τὰ σκεύη αὐτῶν καὶ καμήλους αὐτῶν λήψονται ἑαυτοῖς· καὶ καλέσατε ἐπ' αὐτοὺς ἀπώλειαν κυκλόθεν.BSBBSB: They will take their tents and flocks, their tent curtains and all their goods. They will take their camels for themselves. They will shout to them: ‘Terror is on every side!’
28. 30LXXφεύγετε λίαν, βαθύνατε εἰς κάθισιν, καθήμενοι ἐν τῇ αὐλῇ, ὅτι ἐβουλεύσατο ἐφ' ὑμᾶς βασιλεὺς Βαβυλῶνος βουλὴν καὶ ἐλογίσατο ἐφ' ὑμᾶς λογισμόν.BSBBSB: Run! Escape quickly! Lie low, O residents of Hazor,” declares the LORD, “for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has drawn up a plan against you; he has devised a strategy against you.
29. 31LXXἀνάστηθι καὶ ἀνάβηθι ἐπ' ἔθνος εὐσταθοῦν, καθήμενον εἰς ἀναψυχήν, οἷς οὐκ εἰσὶ θύραι, οὐ βάλανοι, οὐ μοχλοί, μόνοι καταλύουσι.BSBBSB: Rise up, advance against a nation at ease, one that dwells securely,” declares the LORD. “They have no gates or bars; they live alone.
30. 32LXXκαὶ ἔσονται κάμηλοι αὐτῶν εἰς προνομὴν καὶ πλῆθος κτηνῶν αὐτῶν εἰς ἀπώλειαν· καὶ λικμήσω αὐτοὺς παντὶ πνεύματι κεκαρμένους πρὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν, ἐκ παντὸς πέραν αὐτῶν οἴσω τὴν τροπὴν αὐτῶν, εἶπε Κύριος.BSBBSB: Their camels will become plunder, and their large herds will be spoil. I will scatter to the wind in every direction those who shave their temples; I will bring calamity on them from all sides,” declares the LORD.
31. 33LXXκαὶ ἔσται ἡ αὐλὴ διατριβὴ στρουθῶν καὶ ἄβατος ἕως αἰῶνος, οὐ μὴ καθίσῃ ἐκεῖ ἄνθρωπος, καὶ οὐ μὴ κατοικήσῃ ἐκεῖ υἱὸς ἀνθρώπου.BSBBSB: “Hazor will become a haunt for jackals, a desolation forever. No one will dwell there; no man will abide there.”
