1. 1STVΤὸν μὲν πρῶτον λόγον ἐποιησάμην περὶ πάντων ὦ Θεόφιλε ὧν ἤρξατο ὁ Ἰησοῦς ποιεῖν τε καὶ διδάσκεινBSBBSB: In my first book, O Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach,
2. 2STVἄχρι ἡς ἡμέρας ἐντειλάμενος τοῖς ἀποστόλοις διὰ πνεύματος ἁγίου οὓς ἐξελέξατο ἀνελήφθηBSBBSB: until the day He was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles He had chosen.
3. 3STVοἷς καὶ παρέστησεν ἑαυτὸν ζῶντα μετὰ τὸ παθεῖν αὐτὸν ἐν πολλοῖς τεκμηρίοις δι’ ἡμερῶν τεσσαράκοντα ὀπτανόμενος αὐτοῖς καὶ λέγων τὰ περὶ τῆς βασιλείας τοῦ θεοῦ·BSBBSB: After His suffering, He presented Himself to them with many convincing proofs that He was alive. He appeared to them over a span of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.
4. 4STVκαὶ συναλιζόμενος παρήγγειλεν αὐτοῖς ἀπὸ Ἱεροσολύμων μὴ χωρίζεσθαι ἀλλὰ περιμένειν τὴν ἐπαγγελίαν τοῦ πατρὸς ἣν ἠκούσατέ μουBSBBSB: And while they were gathered together, He commanded them: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift the Father promised, which you have heard Me discuss.
5. 5STVὅτι Ἰωάννης μὲν ἐβάπτισεν ὕδατι ὑμεῖς δὲ βαπτισθήσεσθε ἐν πνεύματι ἁγίῳ οὐ μετὰ πολλὰς ταύτας ἡμέραςBSBBSB: For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
6. 6STVΟἱ μὲν οὖν συνελθόντες ἐπἠρώτων αὐτὸν λέγοντες Κύριε εἰ ἐν τῷ χρόνῳ τούτῳ ἀποκαθιστάνεις τὴν βασιλείαν τῷ ἸσραήλBSBBSB: So when they came together, they asked Him, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”
7. 7STVεἶπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτούς Οὐχ ὑμῶν ἐστιν γνῶναι χρόνους ἢ καιροὺς οὓς ὁ πατὴρ ἔθετο ἐν τῇ ἰδίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳBSBBSB: Jesus replied, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by His own authority.
8. 8STVἀλλὰ λήψεσθε δύναμιν ἐπελθόντος τοῦ ἁγίου πνεύματος ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς καὶ ἔσεσθέ μοι μάρτυρες ἔν τε Ἰερουσαλὴμ καὶ ἐν πάσῃ τῇ Ἰουδαίᾳ καὶ Σαμαρείᾳ καὶ ἕως ἐσχάτου τῆς γῆςBSBBSB: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
9. 9STVκαὶ ταῦτα εἰπὼν βλεπόντων αὐτῶν ἐπήρθη καὶ νεφέλη ὑπέλαβεν αὐτὸν ἀπὸ τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν αὐτῶνBSBBSB: After He had said this, they watched as He was taken up, and a cloud hid Him from their sight.
10. 10STVκαὶ ὡς ἀτενίζοντες ἦσαν εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν πορευομένου αὐτοῦ καὶ ἰδού, ἄνδρες δύο παρειστήκεισαν αὐτοῖς ἐν ἐσθήτι λευκῇ,BSBBSB: They were looking intently into the sky as He was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them.
11. 11STVοἳ καὶ εἶπον, Ἄνδρες Γαλιλαῖοι τί ἑστήκατε ἐμβλέποντες εἰς τὸν οὐρανόν οὗτος ὁ Ἰησοῦς ὁ ἀναληφθεὶς ἀφ’ ὑμῶν εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν οὕτως ἐλεύσεται ὃν τρόπον ἐθεάσασθε αὐτὸν πορευόμενον εἰς τὸν οὐρανόνBSBBSB: “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen Him go into heaven.”
12. 12STVΤότε ὑπέστρεψαν εἰς Ἰερουσαλὴμ ἀπὸ ὄρους τοῦ καλουμένου Ἐλαιῶνος ὅ ἐστιν ἐγγὺς Ἰερουσαλὴμ σαββάτου ἔχον ὁδόνBSBBSB: Then they returned to Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, which is near the city, a Sabbath day’s journey away.
13. 13STVκαὶ ὅτε εἰσῆλθον ἀνέβησαν εἰς τὸ ὑπερῷον οὗ ἦσαν καταμένοντες ὅ τε Πέτρος καὶ Ἰάκωβος καὶ Ἰωάννης καὶ Ἀνδρέας Φίλιππος καὶ Θωμᾶς Βαρθολομαῖος καὶ Ματθαῖος, Ἰάκωβος Ἁλφαίου καὶ Σίμων ὁ ζηλωτὴς καὶ Ἰούδας ἸακώβουBSBBSB: When they arrived, they went to the upper room where they were staying: Peter and John, James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James.

16. 16STVἌνδρες ἀδελφοί ἔδει πληρωθῆναι τὴν γραφὴν ταύτην, ἣν προεῖπεν τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον διὰ στόματος Δαβὶδ, περὶ Ἰούδα τοῦ γενομένου ὁδηγοῦ τοῖς συλλαβοῦσιν τὸν ἸησοῦνBSBBSB: “Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled that the Holy Spirit foretold through the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide for those who arrested Jesus.
17. 17STVὅτι κατηριθμημένος ἦν σὺν ἡμῖν καὶ ἔλαχεν τὸν κλῆρον τῆς διακονίας ταύτηςBSBBSB: He was one of our number and shared in this ministry.”
18. 18STVΟὗτος μὲν οὖν ἐκτήσατο χωρίον ἐκ τοῦ μισθοῦ τῆς ἀδικίας καὶ πρηνὴς γενόμενος ἐλάκησεν μέσος καὶ ἐξεχύθη πάντα τὰ σπλάγχνα αὐτοῦ·BSBBSB: (Now with the reward for his wickedness Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong and burst open in the middle, and all his intestines spilled out.
19. 19STVκαὶ γνωστὸν ἐγένετο πάσιν τοῖς κατοικοῦσιν Ἰερουσαλήμ ὥστε κληθῆναι τὸ χωρίον ἐκεῖνο τῇ ἰδίᾳ διαλέκτῳ αὐτῶν Ἁκελδαμά, τοῦτ’ ἔστιν Χωρίον ΑἵματοςBSBBSB: This became known to all who lived in Jerusalem, so they called that field in their own language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.)
20. 20STVΓέγραπται γὰρ ἐν βίβλῳ ψαλμῶν Γενηθήτω ἡ ἔπαυλις αὐτοῦ ἔρημος καὶ μὴ ἔστω ὁ κατοικῶν ἐν αὐτῇ καί Τὴν ἐπισκοπὴν αὐτοῦ λάβοι ἕτεροςBSBBSB: “For it is written in the book of Psalms: ‘May his place be deserted; let there be no one to dwell in it,’ and, ‘May another take his position.’
21. 21STVδεῖ οὖν τῶν συνελθόντων ἡμῖν ἀνδρῶν ἐν παντὶ χρόνῳ ἐν ᾧ εἰσῆλθεν καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς ὁ κύριος ἸησοῦςBSBBSB: Therefore it is necessary to choose one of the men who have accompanied us the whole time the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
22. 22STVἀρξάμενος ἀπὸ τοῦ βαπτίσματος Ἰωάννου ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ἡς ἀνελήφθη ἀφ’ ἡμῶν μάρτυρα τῆς ἀναστάσεως αὐτοῦ γενέσθαι σὺν ἡμῖν ἕνα τούτωνBSBBSB: beginning from John’s baptism until the day Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.”
23. 23STVκαὶ ἔστησαν δύο Ἰωσὴφ τὸν καλούμενον Βαρσαβᾶν ὃς ἐπεκλήθη Ἰοῦστος καὶ ΜατθίανBSBBSB: So they proposed two men: Joseph called Barsabbas (also known as Justus) and Matthias.
24. 24STVκαὶ προσευξάμενοι εἶπον, Σὺ κύριε καρδιογνῶστα πάντων ἀνάδειξον ἐκ τούτων τῶν δύο ἕνα ὃν ἐξελέξωBSBBSB: And they prayed, “Lord, You know everyone’s heart. Show us which of these two You have chosen
25. 25STVλαβεῖν τὸν κλῆρον τῆς διακονίας ταύτης καὶ ἀποστολῆς ἐξ ἡς παρέβη Ἰούδας πορευθῆναι εἰς τὸν τόπον τὸν ἴδιονBSBBSB: to take up this ministry and apostleship, which Judas abandoned to go to his rightful place.”
26. 26STVκαὶ ἔδωκαν κλήρους αὐτῶν, καὶ ἔπεσεν ὁ κλῆρος ἐπὶ Ματθίαν, καὶ συγκατεψηφίσθη μετὰ τῶν ἕνδεκα ἀποστόλωνBSBBSB: Then they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias. So he was added to the eleven apostles.
