1 STV Ὅθεν ἀδελφοὶ ἅγιοι κλήσεως ἐπουρανίου μέτοχοι κατανοήσατε τὸν ἀπόστολον καὶ ἀρχιερέα τῆς ὁμολογίας ἡμῶν Χριστὸν Ἰησοῦν BSB BSB: Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, set your focus on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess.
2 STV πιστὸν ὄντα τῷ ποιήσαντι αὐτὸν ὡς καὶ Μωσῆς ἐν ὅλῳ τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ BSB BSB: He was faithful to the One who appointed Him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house.
3 STV πλείονος γὰρ δόξης οὗτος παρὰ Μωσῆν ἠξίωται καθ’ ὅσον πλείονα τιμὴν ἔχει τοῦ οἴκου ὁ κατασκευάσας αὐτόν· BSB BSB: For Jesus has been counted worthy of greater glory than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself.
4 STV πᾶς γὰρ οἶκος κατασκευάζεται ὑπό τινος ὁ δὲ τὰ πάντα κατασκευάσας θεός BSB BSB: And every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.
5 STV καὶ Μωσῆς μὲν πιστὸς ἐν ὅλῳ τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ ὡς θεράπων εἰς μαρτύριον τῶν λαληθησομένων BSB BSB: Now Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house, testifying to what would be spoken later.
6 STV Χριστὸς δὲ ὡς υἱὸς ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ· οὗ οἶκός ἐσμεν ἡμεῖς ἐάνπερ τὴν παρρησίαν καὶ τὸ καύχημα τῆς ἐλπίδος μέχρι τέλους βεβαίαν κατάσχωμεν BSB BSB: But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are His house, if we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope of which we boast.
7 STV Διό καθὼς λέγει τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον Σήμερον ἐὰν τῆς φωνῆς αὐτοῦ ἀκούσητε BSB BSB: Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear His voice,
8 STV μὴ σκληρύνητε τὰς καρδίας ὑμῶν ὡς ἐν τῷ παραπικρασμῷ κατὰ τὴν ἡμέραν τοῦ πειρασμοῦ ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ BSB BSB: do not harden your hearts, as you did in the rebellion, in the day of testing in the wilderness,
9 STV οὗ ἐπείρασαν με οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν ἐδοκιμασάν με, καὶ εἶδον τὰ ἔργα μου τεσσαράκοντα ἔτη· BSB BSB: where your fathers tested and tried Me, and for forty years saw My works.
10 STV διὸ προσώχθισα τῇ γενεᾷ ἐκείνῃ, καὶ εἶπον Ἀεὶ πλανῶνται τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτοὶ δὲ οὐκ ἔγνωσαν τὰς ὁδούς μου BSB BSB: Therefore I was angry with that generation, and I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known My ways.’
11 STV ὡς ὤμοσα ἐν τῇ ὀργῇ μου· Εἰ εἰσελεύσονται εἰς τὴν κατάπαυσίν μου BSB BSB: So I swore on oath in My anger, ‘They shall never enter My rest.’”
12 STV Βλέπετε ἀδελφοί μήποτε ἔσται ἔν τινι ὑμῶν καρδία πονηρὰ ἀπιστίας ἐν τῷ ἀποστῆναι ἀπὸ θεοῦ ζῶντος BSB BSB: See to it, brothers, that none of you has a wicked heart of unbelief that turns away from the living God.
13 STV ἀλλὰ παρακαλεῖτε ἑαυτοὺς καθ’ ἑκάστην ἡμέραν ἄχρις οὗ τὸ Σήμερον καλεῖται ἵνα μὴ σκληρυνθῇ τις ἐξ ὑμῶν ἀπάτῃ τῆς ἁμαρτίας BSB BSB: But exhort one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
14 STV μέτοχοι γὰρ γεγόναμεν τοῦ Χριστοῦ ἐάνπερ τὴν ἀρχὴν τῆς ὑποστάσεως μέχρι τέλους βεβαίαν κατάσχωμεν BSB BSB: We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly to the end the assurance we had at first.
15 STV ἐν τῷ λέγεσθαι Σήμερον ἐὰν τῆς φωνῆς αὐτοῦ ἀκούσητε Μὴ σκληρύνητε τὰς καρδίας ὑμῶν ὡς ἐν τῷ παραπικρασμῷ BSB BSB: As it has been said: “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts, as you did in the rebellion.”
16 STV τίνες γὰρ ἀκούσαντες παρεπίκραναν ἀλλ’ οὐ πάντες οἱ ἐξελθόντες ἐξ Αἰγύπτου διὰ Μωσέως BSB BSB: For who were the ones who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt?
17 STV τίσιν δὲ προσώχθισεν τεσσαράκοντα ἔτη οὐχὶ τοῖς ἁμαρτήσασιν ὧν τὰ κῶλα ἔπεσεν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ BSB BSB: And with whom was God angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?
18 STV τίσιν δὲ ὤμοσεν μὴ εἰσελεύσεσθαι εἰς τὴν κατάπαυσιν αὐτοῦ εἰ μὴ τοῖς ἀπειθήσασιν BSB BSB: And to whom did He swear that they would never enter His rest? Was it not to those who disobeyed?
19 STV καὶ βλέπομεν ὅτι οὐκ ἠδυνήθησαν εἰσελθεῖν δι’ ἀπιστίαν BSB BSB: So we see that it was because of their unbelief that they were unable to enter.
