1 STV Ὀφείλομεν δὲ ἡμεῖς οἱ δυνατοὶ τὰ ἀσθενήματα τῶν ἀδυνάτων βαστάζειν καὶ μὴ ἑαυτοῖς ἀρέσκειν BSB BSB: We who are strong ought to bear with the shortcomings of the weak and not to please ourselves.
2 STV ἕκαστος γάρ ἡμῶν τῷ πλησίον ἀρεσκέτω εἰς τὸ ἀγαθὸν πρὸς οἰκοδομήν· BSB BSB: Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.
3 STV καὶ γὰρ ὁ Χριστὸς οὐχ ἑαυτῷ ἤρεσεν· ἀλλὰ καθὼς γέγραπται Οἱ ὀνειδισμοὶ τῶν ὀνειδιζόντων σε ἐπέπεσον ἐπ’ ἐμέ BSB BSB: For even Christ did not please Himself, but as it is written: “The insults of those who insult You have fallen on Me.”
4 STV ὅσα γὰρ προεγράφη εἰς τὴν ἡμετέραν διδασκαλίαν προεγράφη, ἵνα διὰ τῆς ὑπομονῆς καὶ τῆς παρακλήσεως τῶν γραφῶν τὴν ἐλπίδα ἔχωμεν BSB BSB: For everything that was written in the past was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures, we might have hope.
5 STV ὁ δὲ θεὸς τῆς ὑπομονῆς καὶ τῆς παρακλήσεως δῴη ὑμῖν τὸ αὐτὸ φρονεῖν ἐν ἀλλήλοις κατὰ Χριστὸν Ἰησοῦν BSB BSB: Now may the God who gives endurance and encouragement grant you harmony with one another in Christ Jesus,
6 STV ἵνα ὁμοθυμαδὸν ἐν ἑνὶ στόματι δοξάζητε τὸν θεὸν καὶ πατέρα τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ BSB BSB: so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
7 STV Διὸ προσλαμβάνεσθε ἀλλήλους καθὼς καὶ ὁ Χριστὸς προσελάβετο ἡμᾶς εἰς δόξαν θεοῦ BSB BSB: Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring glory to God.
8 STV λέγω δὲ, Ἰησοῦν Χριστὸν διάκονον γεγενῆσθαι περιτομῆς ὑπὲρ ἀληθείας θεοῦ εἰς τὸ βεβαιῶσαι τὰς ἐπαγγελίας τῶν πατέρων BSB BSB: For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the circumcised on behalf of God’s truth, to confirm the promises made to the patriarchs,
9 STV τὰ δὲ ἔθνη ὑπὲρ ἐλέους δοξάσαι τὸν θεόν καθὼς γέγραπται Διὰ τοῦτο ἐξομολογήσομαί σοι ἐν ἔθνεσιν καὶ τῷ ὀνοματί σου ψαλῶ BSB BSB: so that the Gentiles may glorify God for His mercy. As it is written: “Therefore I will praise You among the Gentiles; I will sing hymns to Your name.”
10 STV καὶ πάλιν λέγει Εὐφράνθητε ἔθνη μετὰ τοῦ λαοῦ αὐτοῦ BSB BSB: Again, it says: “Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people.”
11 STV καὶ πάλιν Αἰνεῖτε τὸν κύριον πάντα τὰ ἔθνη καὶ ἐπαινέσατε αὐτὸν πάντες οἱ λαοί BSB BSB: And again: “Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, and extol Him, all you peoples.”
12 STV καὶ πάλιν Ἠσαΐας λέγει Ἔσται ἡ ῥίζα τοῦ Ἰεσσαί καὶ ὁ ἀνιστάμενος ἄρχειν ἐθνῶν ἐπ’ αὐτῷ ἔθνη ἐλπιοῦσιν BSB BSB: And once more, Isaiah says: “The Root of Jesse will appear, One who will arise to rule over the Gentiles; in Him the Gentiles will put their hope.”
13 STV ὁ δὲ θεὸς τῆς ἐλπίδος πληρώσαι ὑμᾶς πάσης χαρᾶς καὶ εἰρήνης ἐν τῷ πιστεύειν εἰς τὸ περισσεύειν ὑμᾶς ἐν τῇ ἐλπίδι ἐν δυνάμει πνεύματος ἁγίου BSB BSB: Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
14 STV Πέπεισμαι δέ ἀδελφοί μου καὶ αὐτὸς ἐγὼ περὶ ὑμῶν ὅτι καὶ αὐτοὶ μεστοί ἐστε ἀγαθωσύνης πεπληρωμένοι πάσης γνώσεως δυνάμενοι καὶ ἀλλήλους νουθετεῖν BSB BSB: I myself am convinced, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, brimming with knowledge, and able to instruct one another.
15 STV τολμηρότερον δὲ ἔγραψα ὑμῖν ἀδελφοί, ἀπὸ μέρους ὡς ἐπαναμιμνῄσκων ὑμᾶς διὰ τὴν χάριν τὴν δοθεῖσάν μοι ὑπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ BSB BSB: However, I have written you a bold reminder on some points, because of the grace God has given me
16 STV εἰς τὸ εἶναί με λειτουργὸν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ εἰς τὰ ἔθνη ἱερουργοῦντα τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τοῦ θεοῦ ἵνα γένηται ἡ προσφορὰ τῶν ἐθνῶν εὐπρόσδεκτος ἡγιασμένη ἐν πνεύματι ἁγίῳ BSB BSB: to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
17 STV ἔχω οὖν καύχησιν ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ τὰ πρὸς θεόν· BSB BSB: Therefore I exult in Christ Jesus in my service to God.
18 STV οὐ γὰρ τολμήσω λαλεῖν τι ὧν οὐ κατειργάσατο Χριστὸς δι’ ἐμοῦ εἰς ὑπακοὴν ἐθνῶν λόγῳ καὶ ἔργῳ BSB BSB: I will not presume to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obedience by word and deed,
19 STV ἐν δυνάμει σημείων καὶ τεράτων ἐν δυνάμει πνεύματος θεοῦ· ὥστε με ἀπὸ Ἰερουσαλὴμ καὶ κύκλῳ μέχρι τοῦ Ἰλλυρικοῦ πεπληρωκέναι τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τοῦ Χριστοῦ BSB BSB: by the power of signs and wonders, and by the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.
20 STV οὕτως δὲ φιλοτιμούμενον εὐαγγελίζεσθαι οὐχ ὅπου ὠνομάσθη Χριστός ἵνα μὴ ἐπ’ ἀλλότριον θεμέλιον οἰκοδομῶ BSB BSB: In this way I have aspired to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation.
21 STV ἀλλὰ καθὼς γέγραπται Οἷς οὐκ ἀνηγγέλη περὶ αὐτοῦ ὄψονται καὶ οἳ οὐκ ἀκηκόασιν συνήσουσιν BSB BSB: Rather, as it is written: “Those who were not told about Him will see, and those who have not heard will understand.”
22 STV Διὸ καὶ ἐνεκοπτόμην τὰ πολλὰ τοῦ ἐλθεῖν πρὸς ὑμᾶς· BSB BSB: That is why I have often been hindered from coming to you.
23 STV νυνὶ δὲ μηκέτι τόπον ἔχων ἐν τοῖς κλίμασιν τούτοις ἐπιποθίαν δὲ ἔχων τοῦ ἐλθεῖν πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἀπὸ πολλῶν ἐτῶν BSB BSB: But now that there are no further opportunities for me in these regions, and since I have longed for many years to visit you,
24 STV ὡς ἐὰν πορεύωμαι εἰς τὴν Σπανίαν· ἐλεύσομαι πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐλπίζω γὰρ διαπορευόμενος θεάσασθαι ὑμας καὶ ὑφ’ ὑμῶν προπεμφθῆναι ἐκεῖ ἐὰν ὑμῶν πρῶτον ἀπὸ μέρους ἐμπλησθῶ BSB BSB: I hope to see you on my way to Spain. And after I have enjoyed your company for a while, you can equip me for my journey.
25 STV νυνὶ δὲ πορεύομαι εἰς Ἰερουσαλὴμ διακονῶν τοῖς ἁγίοις BSB BSB: Now, however, I am on my way to Jerusalem to serve the saints there.
26 STV εὐδόκησαν γὰρ Μακεδονία καὶ Ἀχαΐα κοινωνίαν τινὰ ποιήσασθαι εἰς τοὺς πτωχοὺς τῶν ἁγίων τῶν ἐν Ἰερουσαλήμ BSB BSB: For Macedonia and Achaia were pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem.
27 STV εὐδόκησαν γάρ καὶ ὀφειλέται αὐτῶν· εἰσὶν εἰ γὰρ τοῖς πνευματικοῖς αὐτῶν ἐκοινώνησαν τὰ ἔθνη ὀφείλουσιν καὶ ἐν τοῖς σαρκικοῖς λειτουργῆσαι αὐτοῖς BSB BSB: They were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in their spiritual blessings, they are obligated to minister to them with material blessings.
28 STV τοῦτο οὖν ἐπιτελέσας καὶ σφραγισάμενος αὐτοῖς τὸν καρπὸν τοῦτον ἀπελεύσομαι δι’ ὑμῶν εἰς τὴν Σπανίαν· BSB BSB: So after I have completed this service and have safely delivered this bounty to them, I will set off to Spain by way of you.
29 STV οἶδα δὲ ὅτι ἐρχόμενος πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐν πληρώματι εὐλογίας τοῦ εὐαγγελίου τοῦ Χριστοῦ ἐλεύσομαι BSB BSB: I know that when I come to you, I will come in the fullness of the blessing of Christ.
30 STV Παρακαλῶ δὲ ὑμᾶς ἀδελφοί διὰ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ καὶ διὰ τῆς ἀγάπης τοῦ πνεύματος συναγωνίσασθαί μοι ἐν ταῖς προσευχαῖς ὑπὲρ ἐμοῦ πρὸς τὸν θεόν BSB BSB: Now I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me.
31 STV ἵνα ῥυσθῶ ἀπὸ τῶν ἀπειθούντων ἐν τῇ Ἰουδαίᾳ καὶ ἵνα ἡ διακονία μου ἡ εἰς Ἰερουσαλὴμ εὐπρόσδεκτος γένηται τοῖς ἁγίοις BSB BSB: Pray that I may be delivered from the unbelievers in Judea, and that my service in Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints there,
32 STV ἵνα ἐν χαρᾷ ἔλθω πρὸς ὑμᾶς διὰ θελήματος θεοῦ καὶ συναναπαύσωμαι ὑμῖν BSB BSB: so that by God’s will I may come to you with joy and together with you be refreshed.
33 STV ὁ δὲ θεὸς τῆς εἰρήνης μετὰ πάντων ὑμῶν ἀμήν BSB BSB: The God of peace be with all of you. Amen.
