1 ULB સારાના આયુષ્યનાં વર્ષો એકસો સત્તાવીસ હતાં. BSB BSB: Now Sarah lived to be 127 years old.
2 ULB તે કનાન દેશના હેબ્રોનમાં આવેલા કિર્યાથ-આર્બામાં મરણ પામી. ઇબ્રાહિમે સારાને માટે શોક પાળ્યો અને રુદન કર્યું. BSB BSB: She died in Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan, and Abraham went out to mourn and to weep for her.
3 ULB પછી ઇબ્રાહિમે સારાના મૃતદેહ પાસે ઊભા રહીને હેથના દીકરાઓને કહ્યું, BSB BSB: Then Abraham got up from beside his dead wife and said to the Hittites,
4 ULB "હું તમારી મધ્યે વિદેશી છું. કૃપા કરી મને મારી મૃત પત્નીને દફનાવવા માટે તમારા લોકોમાં જગ્યા આપો." BSB BSB: “I am a foreigner and an outsider among you. Give me a burial site among you so that I can bury my dead.”
5 ULB હેથના દીકરાઓએ ઇબ્રાહિમને ઉત્તર આપ્યો, BSB BSB: The Hittites replied to Abraham,
6 ULB "મારા માલિક, અમારું સાંભળ. અમારી મધ્યે તો તું ઈશ્વરના રાજકુમાર જેવો છે. જે જગ્યા તને પસંદ પડે ત્યાં અમારી કોઈપણ કબરમાં તારી મૃત પત્નીને દફનાવ. તેને દફનાવવાને માટે અમારામાંથી કોઈપણ પોતાની કબર આપવાની ના નહિ પાડે." BSB BSB: “Listen to us, sir. You are God’s chosen one among us. Bury your dead in the finest of our tombs. None of us will withhold his tomb for burying your dead.”
7 ULB ઇબ્રાહિમે ઊઠીને તે દેશના લોકોને, એટલે હેથના દીકરાઓને પ્રણામ કર્યા. BSB BSB: Then Abraham rose and bowed down before the people of the land, the Hittites.
8 ULB તેણે તેઓની સાથે વાતચીત કરીને કહ્યું, "હું અહીં મારી મૃત પત્નીને દફનાવું, એવી જો તમારી સંમતિ હોય, તો મારું સાંભળો. મારે માટે સોહારના દીકરા એફ્રોનને વિનંતી કરો. BSB BSB: “If you are willing for me to bury my dead,” he said to them, “listen to me, and approach Ephron son of Zohar on my behalf
9 ULB તેને પૂછો કે માખ્પેલાની ગુફા જે તેની પોતાની માલિકીની છે અને જે તેના ખેતરની સરહદ પર છે, તે પૂરતી કિંમતે તમારી મધ્યે કબરને માટે મને સુપ્રત કરે." BSB BSB: to sell me the cave of Machpelah that belongs to him; it is at the end of his field. Let him sell it to me in your presence for full price, so that I may have a burial site.”
10 ULB હવે એફ્રોન હેથના દીકરાઓ સાથે જ બેઠેલો હતો. અને પોતાના નગરના દરવાજામાં પેસનારા હેથના સર્વ દીકરાઓના સાંભળતાં એફ્રોન હિત્તીએ ઇબ્રાહિમને ઉત્તર આપ્યો, BSB BSB: Now Ephron was sitting among the sons of Heth. So in the presence of all the Hittites who had come to the gate of his city, Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham,
11 ULB "એવું નહિ, મારા માલિક. મારું સાંભળ. હું ખેતર અને તેમાં ગુફા છે તે પણ તને હું આપું છું. મારા લોકોના દીકરાઓના દેખતાં તે હું તને તારી મૃત પત્નીને દફનાવવા માટે આપું છું." BSB BSB: “No, my lord. Listen to me. I give you the field, and I give you the cave that is in it. I give it to you in the presence of my people. Bury your dead.”
12 ULB પછી દેશના લોકોની આગળ ઇબ્રાહિમે પ્રણામ કર્યા. BSB BSB: Again Abraham bowed down before the people of the land
13 ULB તેણે તે દેશના લોકોના સાંભળતાં એફ્રોનને કહ્યું, "પણ જો તારી મરજી હોય તો કૃપા કરી મારું સંભાળ. હું ખેતરને માટે કિંમત ચૂકવીશ. મારી પાસેથી રૂપિયા લે. ત્યાં હું મારી મૃત પત્નીને દફનાવીશ." BSB BSB: and said to Ephron in their presence, “If you will please listen to me, I will pay you the price of the field. Accept it from me, so that I may bury my dead there.”
14 ULB એફ્રોને ઇબ્રાહિમને ઉત્તર આપ્યો, BSB BSB: Ephron answered Abraham,
15 ULB "કૃપા કરી, મારા માલિક, મારું સાંભળ. ચારસો શેકેલ ચાંદીના સિક્કાની જમીન, તે મારી અને તારી વચ્ચે શા લેખામાં છે? જા તારી મૃત પત્નીને ત્યાં દફનાવ." BSB BSB: “Listen to me, my lord. The land is worth four hundred shekels of silver, but what is that between you and me? Bury your dead.”
16 ULB ઇબ્રાહિમે એફ્રોનનું સાંભળ્યું અને તેણે હેથના દીકરાઓના સંભાળતાં કહ્યું હતું એટલા પ્રમાણમાં ચારસો શેકેલ ચાંદીના સિક્કા અંદાજે સાતસો એંસી રૂપિયા એફ્રોનને ચૂકવ્યા. BSB BSB: Abraham agreed to Ephron’s terms and weighed out for him the price he had named in the hearing of the Hittites: four hundred shekels of silver, according to the standard of the merchants.
17 ULB તેથી માખ્પેલામાં મામરેની આગળ એફ્રોનનું જે ખેતર, જે ગુફા તથા ખેતરની ચારે બાજુની સરહદની અંદર જે સર્વ વૃક્ષો તે, BSB BSB: So Ephron’s field at Machpelah near Mamre, the cave that was in it, and all the trees within the boundaries of the field were deeded over
18 ULB તેના નગરના દરવાજામાં સર્વ જનારાંની આગળ હેથના દીકરાઓની હાજરીમાં ઇબ્રાહિમને વતનને માટે સોંપવામાં આવ્યાં. BSB BSB: to Abraham’s possession in the presence of all the Hittites who had come to the gate of his city.
