Hebrews 7 (ULB)

1આ મેલ્ખીસેદેક, શાલેમનો રાજા અને પરાત્પર ઈશ્વરનો યાજક હતો, જયારે ઇબ્રાહિમ રાજાઓની હત્યા કરીને પાછો આવ્યો, ત્યારે તેણે તેને મળીને આશીર્વાદ આપ્યો;This Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of God Most High. He met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,

2અને ઇબ્રાહિમે લડાઈમાં જે મેળવ્યું હતું તેનો દસમો ભાગ તેને આપ્યો. તેના નામનો પહેલો અર્થ તો ‘ન્યાયીપણાનો રાજા,’ પછી ‘શાલેમનો રાજા,’ એટલે ‘શાંતિનો રાજા’ છે.and Abraham apportioned to him a tenth of everything. First, his name means “king of righteousness.” Then also, “king of Salem” means “king of peace.”

3તે પિતા વગરનો, માતા વગરનો અને વંશાવળી વગરનો હતો, તેના આરંભનો સમય કે આયુષ્યનો અંત ન હતો, પણ તે ઈશ્વરના પુત્રના જેવો સદા યાજક રહે છે.Without father or mother or genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, like the Son of God, he remains a priest for all time.

4તો જેને આદિપિતા ઇબ્રાહિમે લૂટમાંનો દસમો ભાગ આપ્યો, તે કેવો મહાન હશે એનો વિચાર કરો.Consider how great Melchizedek was: Even the patriarch Abraham gave him a tenth of the plunder.

5અને ખરેખર, લેવીના સંતાનમાંના જેઓ યાજકપદ પામે છે, તેઓને લોકોની પાસેથી એટલે ઇબ્રાહિમથી ઉત્પન્ન થયેલા પોતાના ભાઈઓની પાસેથી, નિયમશાસ્ત્ર પ્રમાણે દસમો ભાગ લેવાની આજ્ઞા છે ખરી;Now the law commands the sons of Levi who become priests to collect a tenth from the people—that is, from their brothers—though they too are descended from Abraham.

6પણ જે તેઓની વંશવાળીનો ન હતો, તેણે ઇબ્રાહિમની પાસેથી દસમો ભાગ લીધો અને જેને વચનો મળ્યાં હતાં તેને તેણે આશીર્વાદ આપ્યો.But Melchizedek, who did not trace his descent from Levi, collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises.

7હવે, મોટો નાનાને આશીર્વાદ આપે છે તેમાં તો કંઈ પણ વાંધો નથી.And indisputably, the lesser is blessed by the greater.

8અહીંયાં યહૂદી યાજકો જેઓ મૃત્યુપાત્ર છે તે આ દસમો ભાગ લે છે; પણ ત્યાં જેનાં સંબંધી સાક્ષી આપેલી છે, કે તે જીવંત છે, તે લે છે.In the case of the Levites, mortal men collect the tenth; but in the case of Melchizedek, it is affirmed that he lives on.

9અને એમ પણ કહેવાય છે કે, જે લેવી દસમો ભાગ લે છે, તેણે પણ ઇબ્રાહિમની મારફતે દસમો ભાગ આપ્યો;And so to speak, Levi, who collects the tenth, paid the tenth through Abraham.

10કેમ કે જયારે મેલ્ખીસેદેક તેના પિતાને મળ્યો, ત્યારે તે પોતાના પિતાનાં અંગમાં હતો.For when Melchizedek met Abraham, Levi was still in the loin of his ancestor.

11એ માટે જો લેવીના યાજકપણાથી પરિપૂર્ણતા થઈ હોત, કેમ કે તે દ્વારા લોકોને નિયમશાસ્ત્ર મળ્યું હતું, તો હારુનના નિયમ પ્રમાણે ગણાયેલો નહિ, એવો બીજો યાજક મેલ્ખીસેદેકના નિયમ અનુસાર ઉત્પન્ન થાય એની શી અગત્ય હતી?Now if perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood (for on this basis the people received the law), why was there still need for another priest to appear—one in the order of Melchizedek and not in the order of Aaron?

12કેમ કે યાજકપદ બદલાયાથી નિયમ પણ બદલાવાની જરૂર છે.For when the priesthood is changed, the law must be changed as well.

13કેમ કે જે સંબંધી એ વાતો કહેવાયેલી છે, તે અન્ય કુળનો છે, તેઓમાંના કોઈએ યજ્ઞવેદીની સેવા કરી નથી.He of whom these things are said belonged to a different tribe, from which no one has ever served at the altar.

14કેમ કે એ સ્પષ્ટ છે, કે યહૂદાના કુળમાં આપણા પ્રભુનો જન્મ થયો, તે કુળમાંના યાજકપદ સંબંધી મૂસાએ કશું કહ્યું નથી.For it is clear that our Lord descended from Judah, a tribe as to which Moses said nothing about priests.

15હવે જે મેલ્ખીસેદેકના જેવો, એટલે કે જગિક આજ્ઞાના ધારા ધોરણ પ્રમાણે નહિ પણ અવિનાશી જીવનનાં સામર્થ્ય પ્રમાણે;And this point is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek appears,

16બીજો એક યાજક ઊભો થયો છે, તો આ બાબત વિષે સ્પષ્ટ થાય છે.one who has become a priest not by a law of succession, but by the power of an indestructible life.

17કેમ કે એવી સાક્ષી આપવામાં આવેલી છે કે, મેલ્ખીસેદેકના નિયમ પ્રમાણે ‘તમે સનાતન યાજક છો.’”For it is testified: “You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.”

18કેમ કે અગાઉની આજ્ઞા અશક્ત તથા નિરુપયોગી હતી તે માટે તે રદ કરવામાં આવે છે.So the former commandment is set aside because it was weak and useless

19કેમ કે નિયમશાસ્ત્રથી કશું પરિપૂર્ણ થયું નથી, અને જેને બદલે જેનાંથી આપણે ઈશ્વરની પાસે જઈ શકીએ, એવી વધારે સારી આશાનો ઉદભવ થાય છે.(for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.

20પણ આ તો સમ વગર આપવામાં આવ્યું નહોતું. બીજા તો સમ વગર યાજક થયા છે તે વિશેષ સારી છે કેમ કે તે વિશેનું વચન સમ વગર આપવામાં આવ્યું નહોતું,And none of this happened without an oath. For others became priests without an oath,

21પણ આ તો સમથી થાય છે, એટલે જેમણે તેમને કહ્યું કે, ‘પ્રભુએ સમ ખાધા, અને તે પસ્તાવો કરનાર નથી, કે તું સનાતન યાજક છે, આવી રીતે તે તેમનાંથી યાજક થયા.’”but Jesus became a priest with an oath by the One who said to Him: “The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind: ‘You are a priest forever.’”

22તે જ પ્રમાણે ઈસુ સારા કરારની ખાતરી થયા છે.Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant.

23જેઓ યાજક થયા તેઓ પુષ્કળ પ્રમાણમાં હતા ખરા, કેમ કે મૃત્યુને લીધે તેઓ સદા રહી શક્યા ન હતા.Now there have been many other priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office.

24પણ ઈસુ તો સદાકાળ રહે છે, માટે તેમનું યાજકપદ અવિકારી છે.But because Jesus lives forever, He has a permanent priesthood.

25માટે જેઓ તેમની મારફતે ઈશ્વરની પાસે આવે છે, તેઓનો સંપૂર્ણ ઉદ્ધાર કરવાને ઈસુ સમર્થ છે. કેમ કે દરેકને માટે મધ્યસ્થી કરવાને તેઓ સદા જીવંત રહે છે.Therefore He is able to save completely those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede for them.

26તેમના જેવા પ્રમુખ યાજકની આપણને જરૂર હતી, તે પવિત્ર, નિર્દોષ, નિષ્કલંક, પાપીઓથી તદ્દન અલગ છે, અને તેમને આકાશ કરતાં વધારે ઉચ્ચસ્થાને બિરાજવામાં આવેલા છે.Such a high priest truly befits us—One who is holy, innocent, undefiled, set apart from sinners, and exalted above the heavens.

27પ્રથમ પ્રમુખ યાજકોની માફક તે પોતાના પાપોને સારુ, પછી લોકોના પાપોને સારુ નિત્ય બલિદાન આપવાની તેમને અગત્ય નથી; કેમ કે તેમણે, પોતાનું અર્પણ કરીને એક જ વખતમાં એ કાર્ય પૂર્ણ કર્યું છે.Unlike the other high priests, He does not need to offer daily sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people; He sacrificed for sin once for all when He offered up Himself.

28કેમ કે નિયમશાસ્ત્ર નબળા માણસોને પ્રમુખ યાજકો ઠરાવે છે; પણ નિયમશાસ્ત્ર પછી જે સમનું વચન છે તે તો સદાને માટે સંપૂર્ણ કરેલા પુત્રને પ્રમુખ યાજક ઠરાવે છે.For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.
