1. 1HGLTहे प्रियों, हर एक आत्मा पर विश्वास न करो, परन्तु आत्माओं को परखो, कि वे परमेश्वर की ओर से हैं या नहीं, क्योंकि बहुत से झूठे भविष्यद्वक्ता इस संसार में निकल गए हैं।BSBBSB: Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world.
2. 2HGLTइस रीति से तुम परमेश्वर के आत्मा को जान पाते हो: जो कोई भी आत्मा यह अंगीकार कर लेती है कि यीशु मसीह शरीर में होकर आया है वह परमेश्वर की ओर से है।BSBBSB: By this you will know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
3. 3HGLTऔर जो कोई भी आत्मा यीशु का अंगीकार नहीं करती है वह परमेश्वर की ओर से नहीं है। और यही है जो मसीह के विरोधी का है, जिसके विषय में तुम सुन चुके हो, कि वह आ रहा है और अब वह संसार में ही है।BSBBSB: and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and which is already in the world at this time.
4. 4HGLTहे बालकों, तुम परमेश्वर की ओर से हो और तुम उन पर जयवंत हुए हो क्योंकि जो तुम में है वह उससे बड़ा है जो संसार में है।BSBBSB: You, little children, are from God and have overcome them, because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
5. 5HGLTवे संसार की ओर से हैं। इस कारण से, वे संसार की ओर से बोलते हैं, और संसार उनकी सुनता है।BSBBSB: They are of the world. That is why they speak from the world’s perspective, and the world listens to them.

Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. That is how we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of deception.
7. 7HGLTहे प्रियों, आओ हम आपस में प्रेम रखें, क्योंकि प्रेम परमेश्वर की ओर से है, और हर एक जो प्रेम करता है वह परमेश्वर से जन्मा है और परमेश्वर को जानता है।BSBBSB: Beloved, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

11. 11HGLTहे प्रियों, यदि परमेश्वर ने इस प्रकार से हम से ऐसा प्रेम किया, तो हमको भी एक दूसरे से प्रेम रखना चाहिए।BSBBSB: Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
12. 12HGLTकिसी ने भी परमेश्वर को कभी नहीं देखा है। यदि हम एक दूसरे से प्रेम रखते हैं, तो परमेश्वर हम में बना रहता है, और उसका प्रेम हम में सिद्ध हो गया है।BSBBSB: No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God remains in us, and His love is perfected in us.
13. 13HGLTइसी से हम जानते हैं कि हम उसमें बने रहते हैं और वह हम में: कि उसने हमें अपने आत्मा से दिया है।BSBBSB: By this we know that we remain in Him, and He in us: He has given us of His Spirit.
14. 14HGLTऔर सचमुच, हमने देखा है और हम गवाही देते हैं कि पिता ने संसार के उद्धारकर्ता के रूप में पुत्र को भेजा।BSBBSB: And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent His Son to be the Savior of the world.
15. 15HGLTजो कोई भी यह अंगीकार करता है कि यीशु परमेश्वर का पुत्र है, तो परमेश्वर उसमें बना रहता है, और वह परमेश्वर में।BSBBSB: If anyone confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
16. 16HGLTऔर हम उस प्रेम को जान गए हैं और हमें उस प्रेम पर विश्वास है जो परमेश्वर हम से रखता है। परमेश्वर प्रेम है, और जो व्यक्ति प्रेम में बना रहता है वह परमेश्वर में बना रहता है, और परमेश्वर उसमें बना रहता है।BSBBSB: And we have come to know and believe the love that God has for us. God is love; whoever abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

18. 18HGLTप्रेम में भय नहीं होता है, परन्तु सिद्ध प्रेम भय को बाहर फेंक देता है, क्योंकि भय में दण्ड होता है। इसलिए जो व्यक्ति भय खाता है वह प्रेम में सिद्ध नहीं हुआ है।BSBBSB: There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. The one who fears has not been perfected in love.

For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.
21. 21HGLTऔर सच में, उसकी ओर से हमें यह आज्ञा मिली है, कि जो व्यक्ति परमेश्वर से प्रेम रखता है उसे अपने भाई से भी प्रेम रखना है।BSBBSB: And we have this commandment from Him: Whoever loves God must love his brother as well.
