1यारोबाम के इस्राएल के राजा होने के लगभग अठारह वर्ष के बाद, अबिय्याम यहूदा का राजा बन गया।In the eighteenth year of the reign of Jeroboam son of Nebat, Abijam became king of Judah,

2उसने यरूशलेम में तीन वर्ष तक शासन किया। उसकी माँ का नाम माका था, जो अबशालोम की पुत्री थी।and he reigned in Jerusalem three years. His mother’s name was Maacah daughter of Abishalom.

3अबिय्याम ने उसी प्रकार के पाप किए जो उसके पिता ने किए थे। वह अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा के प्रति पूरी तरह से समर्पित नहीं था, जैसे उसका पूर्वज दाऊद था।And Abijam walked in all the sins that his father before him had committed, and his heart was not as fully devoted to the LORD his God as the heart of David his forefather had been.

4परन्तु, परमेश्वर यहोवा ने दाऊद से प्रतिज्ञा की थी, और यहोवा ने अबिय्याम को एक पुत्र यरूशलेम में शासन करने और यरूशलेम को अपने शत्रुओं से बचाने के लिए दिया था।Nevertheless, for the sake of David, the LORD his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem by raising up a son to succeed him and to make Jerusalem strong.

5यहोवा ने ऐसा इसलिए किया क्योंकि दाऊद ने सदैव यहोवा को प्रसन्न किया था और दाऊद ने सदा यहोवा की आज्ञा मानी थी। जब उसने बतशेबा के साथ अपने पाप के कारण ऊरिय्याह को मार डाला तभी वह एकमात्र समय था जब उसने यहोवा की अवज्ञा की थी।For David had done what was right in the eyes of the LORD and had not turned aside from anything the LORD commanded all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

6अबिय्याम के शासन के दौरान रहबाम और यारोबाम की सेनाओं के बीच युद्ध चलते रहे।And there was war between the houses of Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of Abijam’s life.

7अबिय्याम ने जो कुछ किया वह यहूदा के राजाओं की पुस्तक में लिखा गया है।As for the rest of the acts of Abijam, along with all his accomplishments, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.

8अबिय्याम की मृत्यु हो गई और उसे यरूशलेम के दाऊद नगर में मिट्टी दी गई, और उसका पुत्र आसा राजा बन गया।And Abijam rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David, and his son Asa reigned in his place.

9यारोबाम के लगभग बीस वर्षों तक इस्राएल का राजा रहने के बाद, आसा ने यहूदा पर शासन करना आरम्भ कर दिया।In the twentieth year of Jeroboam’s reign over Israel, Asa became king of Judah,

10उसने यरूशलेम में चालीस वर्ष तक शासन किया। उसकी दादी अबशालोम की पुत्री माका थीं।and he reigned in Jerusalem forty-one years. His grandmother’s name was Maacah daughter of Abishalom.

11आसा ने यहोवा को प्रसन्न किया, जैसा कि उसके पूर्वजों ने किया था।And Asa did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, as his father David had done.

12उसने उन पुरुषगमन करने वालों से छुटकारा पा लिया जो उन स्थानों पर थे जहाँ लोग मूर्तियों की पूजा करते थे, और उसने अपने पूर्वजों द्वारा बनाई सारी मूर्तियों को भी नाश कर दिया।He banished the male shrine prostitutes from the land and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

13उसने अपनी माता माका को भी राजमाता के पद से हटा दिया था, कि प्रशासन में कोई प्रभाव ना पड़े। उसने ऐसा इसलिए किया क्योंकि उसने देवी अशेरा की घृणित लकड़ी की मूर्ति बनाई थी। आसा ने अपने कर्मचारियों को आदेश दिया कि मूर्ति को काटें और गिरा कर किद्रोन घाटी में जला दें।He also removed his grandmother Maacah from her position as queen mother because she had made a detestable Asherah pole. Asa chopped down the pole and burned it in the Kidron Valley.

14वह उन सभी स्थानों को नष्ट करने में सक्षम नहीं था जहाँ लोग यहोवा की आराधना करते थे, परन्तु वह अपने समय में यहोवा को समर्पित रहा।The high places were not removed, but Asa’s heart was fully devoted to the LORD all his days.

17बाशा की सेना ने यहूदा पर आक्रमण किया। उन्होंने यरूशलेम के उत्तर में रामाह शहर पर अधिकार कर लिया। तब उन्होंने राजा आसा द्वारा शासित यहूदा के क्षेत्रों में लोगों के आवागमन को रोकने के लिए चारों ओर दीवार बनानी आरम्भ कर दी।Baasha king of Israel went to war against Judah and fortified Ramah to prevent anyone from leaving or entering the territory of Asa king of Judah.

18तब आसा ने अपने कर्मचारियों को भवन और महल में रखे हुए सभी चाँदी और सोने को लेने के लिए कहा और उसे अपने कुछ अधिकारियों को दिया। उसने उन्हें दमिश्क ले जाने और राजा बेन्हदद को देने के लिए कहा जो अराम पर शासन करता था। बेन्हदद तब्रिम्मोन का पुत्र था और हेज्योन का पोता था। उसने अधिकारियों से बेन्हदद को यह बतलाने के लिए कहा:So Asa withdrew all the silver and gold that remained in the treasuries of the house of the LORD and the royal palace. He entrusted it to his servants and sent them with this message to Ben-hadad son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, the king of Aram, who was ruling in Damascus:

19“मैं चाहता हूँ कि मेरे और तेरे बीच शान्ति सन्धि हो, जैसे कि मेरे पिता और तेरे पिता के बीच में हुई थी। इसी उद्देश्य के लिए, मैं तुझे यह चाँदी और सोना दे रहा हूँ। अब कृपया उस सन्धि को नष्ट कर जो तूने इस्राएल के राजा बाशा के साथ की है, कि वह अपने सैनिकों को मुझ पर आक्रमण करने न दे क्योंकि वह तेरी सेना से डर जाएगा।”“Let there be a treaty between me and you as there was between my father and your father. See, I have sent you a gift of silver and gold. Now go and break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel, so that he will withdraw from me.”

21जब बाशा ने इसके विषय में सुना, तो उसने अपने सैनिकों को रामा में कार्य करवाना बन्द कर दिया। वह और उसके सैनिक तिर्सा लौट आए और वहाँ रहे।When Baasha learned of this, he stopped fortifying Ramah and withdrew to Tirzah.

And with these materials King Asa built up Geba of Benjamin, as well as Mizpah.

In his old age, however, he became diseased in his feet.

24वह मर गया और उसे मिट्टी दी गई जहाँ उसके पूर्वजों को यरूशलेम के दाऊद नगर नामक भाग में मिट्टी दी गई थी। तब उसका पुत्र यहोशापात राजा बन गया।And Asa rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the city of his father David, and his son Jehoshaphat reigned in his place.

25आसा दो वर्ष तक यहूदा का राजा रहा, राजा यारोबाम के पुत्र नादाब ने इस्राएल पर शासन करना आरम्भ कर दिया। उसने दो वर्ष तक शासन किया।In the second year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Nadab son of Jeroboam became king of Israel, and he reigned two years.

26उसने कई कार्य किए जो यहोवा की दृष्टि में घृणित थे। उसका व्यवहार उसके पिता के व्यवहार के समान पापमय था, और उसने इस्राएल के लोगों को पाप करने के लिए प्रेरित किया।And he did evil in the sight of the LORD and walked in the way of his father and in his sin, which he had caused Israel to commit.

27इस्साकार के गोत्र से बाशा नाम के एक व्यक्ति ने उसे हानि पहुँचाने की युक्ति की। उसने नादाब को मारा जब नादाब और उसकी सेना ने पलिश्ती क्षेत्र में गिब्बतोन शहर को घेर रखा था।Then Baasha son of Ahijah of the house of Issachar conspired against Nadab, and Baasha struck him down at Gibbethon of the Philistines while Nadab and all Israel were besieging the city.

28यह तब हुआ था जब आसा राजा को यहूदा पर शासन करते तीन वर्ष हो गए थे। तब बाशा इस्राएल का राजा बन गया।In the third year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Baasha killed Nadab and reigned in his place.

29जैसे ही वह राजा बन गया, उसने अपने सैनिकों को यारोबाम के परिवार को मारने का आदेश दिया। वही हुआ जो यहोवा ने शीलो से भविष्यद्वक्ता अहिय्याह को बताया था, उन्होंने यारोबाम के परिवार को मार डाला। उनमें से कोई भी नहीं बचा।As soon as Baasha became king, he struck down the entire household of Jeroboam. He did not leave to Jeroboam anyone who breathed, but destroyed them all according to the word that the LORD had spoken through His servant Ahijah the Shilonite,

30ऐसा इसलिए हुआ क्योंकि यारोबाम के पापों के कारण यहोवा यारोबाम से बहुत क्रोधित हो गए थे, और उन पापों के कारण जो उसने इस्राएलियों के लोगों को करने के लिए फुसलाया था।because of the sins Jeroboam had committed and had caused Israel to commit, and because he had provoked the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger.

31नादाब ने जो कुछ भी किया वह इस्राएल के राजाओं की पुस्तक में लिखा गया है।As for the rest of the acts of Nadab, along with all his accomplishments, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

32राजा आसा और राजा बाशा के शासनकाल के समय तक उनकी सेनाओं के बीच युद्ध चलते रहे।And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel throughout their days.

33आसा के लगभग तीन वर्षों तक यहूदा का राजा रहने के बाद, अहिय्याह के पुत्र बाशा ने इस्राएल पर तिर्सा शहर में शासन करना आरम्भ कर दिया। उसने चौबीस वर्ष तक शासन किया।In the third year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Baasha son of Ahijah became king of all Israel, and he reigned in Tirzah twenty-four years.

34बाशा ने बहुत से ऐसे कर्म किए जिन्हें यहोवा ने घृणित कहा था, और वह यारोबाम के समान पापी जीवन जीता था। बाशा के पापी जीवन ने इस्राएल के लोगों के सक्षम उदाहरण प्रस्तुत किया जो उन्हें पाप करने के लिए प्रोत्साहित करता था।And Baasha did evil in the sight of the LORD and walked in the way of Jeroboam and in his sin, which he had caused Israel to commit.
