4 IEV यदि तू निरन्तर ऐसा करता है, तो यहोवा वही करेंगे जो उन्होंने मुझसे प्रतिज्ञा की थी। उन्होंने कहा, था‘यदि तेरे वंशज जो मैं उन्हें करने के लिए कहता हूँ, और मेरे आदेशों का पालन पूरे प्राण के साथ विश्वासयोग्यता से करते हैं, तो वे सदा इस्राएलियों पर शासन करेंगे।’ BSB BSB: and so that the LORD may fulfill His promise to me: ‘If your descendants take heed to walk faithfully before Me with all their heart and soul, you will never fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.’

He called down bitter curses against me on the day I went to Mahanaim, but when he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the LORD: ‘I will never put you to the sword.’
9 IEV परन्तु अब तुझको निश्चय ही उसे दण्ड देना होगा। तू एक बुद्धिमान व्यक्ति है, इसलिए तू जान लेगा कि तुझे उसके साथ क्या करना चाहिए। वह एक बूढ़ा व्यक्ति है, परन्तु यह सुनिश्चित करना कि उसके मरने पर उसका खून बहे।” BSB BSB: Now therefore, do not hold him guiltless, for you are a wise man. You know what you ought to do to him to bring his gray head down to Sheol in blood.”
10 IEV जब दाऊद की मृत्यु हो गई और उसे यरूशलेम के उस भाग में मिट्टी दी गई जिसे दाऊद नगर कहा जाता था। BSB BSB: Then David rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David.
11 IEV दाऊद चालीस वर्षों तक इस्राएल का राजा रहा। उसने हेब्रोन में सात वर्ष और यरूशलेम में तैंतीस वर्ष तक शासन किया। BSB BSB: The length of David’s reign over Israel was forty years—seven years in Hebron and thirty-three years in Jerusalem.
12 IEV सुलैमान अपने पिता दाऊद के स्थान पर शासक बन गया और उसने सम्पूर्ण राज्य पर नियंत्रण कर लिया। BSB BSB: So Solomon sat on the throne of his father David, and his kingdom was firmly established.
13 IEV एक दिन अदोनिय्याह सुलैमान की माँ बतशेबा के पास आया। उसने उससे कहा,“क्या तू भली मनसा से आया है?” उसने उत्तर दिया,“हाँ।” BSB BSB: Now Adonijah son of Haggith went to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, and she asked, “Do you come in peace?” “Yes, in peace,” he replied.

19 IEV तब बतशेबा राजा सुलैमान के पास गई। राजा अपने सिंहासन से उठा और उसे अभिवादन करने गया और उसकी ओर झुका और फिर अपने सिंहासन पर बैठ गया और किसी से उसके लिए कुर्सी मँगवाई। फिर वह राजा के दाहिनी ओर बैठ गई। BSB BSB: So Bathsheba went to King Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah. The king stood up to greet her, bowed to her, and sat down on his throne. Then the king had a throne brought for his mother, who sat down at his right hand.

Since he is my older brother, you might as well request the kingdom for him and for Abiathar the priest and for Joab son of Zeruiah!”
23 IEV तब सुलैमान ने यहोवा से प्रतिज्ञा की,“मैं चाहता हूँ कि परमेश्वर मुझे मार डालें, यदि मैं इस अनुरोध के कारण अदोनिय्याह के मरने का कारण नहीं बनता हूँ। BSB BSB: Then King Solomon swore by the LORD: “May God punish me, and ever so severely, if Adonijah has not made this request at the expense of his life.
24 IEV यहोवा ने मुझे राजा बनने के लिए नियुक्त किया है और मुझे मेरे पिता दाऊद के रूप में शासन करने के लिए यहाँ स्थापित किया है। उन्होंने प्रतिज्ञा की है कि मेरे वंशज इस्राएल के राजा होंगे। निश्चय ही यहोवा जीवित हैं, अत: मैं सत्यनिष्ठा से प्रतिज्ञा करता हूँ कि आज ही अदोनिय्याह मार डाला जाएगा।” BSB BSB: And now, as surely as the LORD lives—the One who established me, who set me on the throne of my father David, and who founded for me a dynasty as He promised—surely Adonijah shall be put to death today!”
25 IEV तब राजा सुलैमान ने बनायाह को आदेश दिया कि अदोनिय्याह को मार दे, और बनायाह ने ऐसा किया। BSB BSB: So King Solomon gave orders to Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he struck down Adonijah and he died.
26 IEV तब सुलैमान ने याजक एब्यातार से कहा,“वहाँ अनातोत के नगर अपने देश में जा। तू मरने के योग्य है, परन्तु मैं अब तुझे मृत्यु दण्ड नहीं दूँगा, क्योंकि तू ही ऐसा व्यक्ति था जिसने मेरे पिता दाऊद के लिए यहोवा के पवित्र सन्दूक को उठाने वालों की देखभाल कि थी, और तूने मेरे पिता के साथ सभी कष्टों को सहन किया।” BSB BSB: Then the king said to Abiathar the priest, “Go back to your fields in Anathoth. Even though you deserve to die, I will not put you to death at this time, since you carried the ark of the Lord GOD before my father David, and you suffered through all that my father suffered.”
27 IEV तब सुलैमान ने एब्यातार को यहोवा के याजक पद से हटा दिया। ऐसा करने से वह हुआ जो यहोवा ने कई वर्षों पहले शीलो में कहा था, कि किसी दिन वह एली के वंशजों का नाश करेंगे। BSB BSB: So Solomon banished Abiathar from the priesthood of the LORD and thus fulfilled the word that the LORD had spoken at Shiloh against the house of Eli.
28 IEV योआब ने अबशालोम का समर्थन नहीं किया जब उसने राजा बनने का प्रयास किया था, परन्तु उसने अदोनिय्याह का समर्थन किया था। तो जब योआब ने सुना कि क्या हुआ, तो वह पवित्र- तम्बू में भाग गया, और उसने वेदी को पकड़ लिया क्योंकि उसने सोचा था कि कोई उसे वहाँ नहीं मारेगा। BSB BSB: When the news reached Joab, who had conspired with Adonijah but not with Absalom, he fled to the tent of the LORD and took hold of the horns of the altar.
29 IEV जब किसी ने सुलैमान से कहा कि योआब पवित्र- तम्बू में भाग गया है और वेदी को पकड़ रखा है, तो सुलैमान ने बनायाह से कहा,“जा और योआब को मार डाल।” BSB BSB: It was reported to King Solomon: “Joab has fled to the tent of the LORD and is now beside the altar.” So Solomon sent Benaiah son of Jehoiada, saying, “Go, strike him down!”
30 IEV तब बनायाह पवित्र- तम्बू में गया और योआब से कहा,“राजा आज्ञा देता है कि तू बाहर आ।” परन्तु योआब ने उत्तर दिया,“नहीं, मैं यहीं मर जाऊँगा।” तो बनायाह राजा के पास वापस गया और बताया कि उसने योआब से क्या कहा था, और योआब ने क्या उत्तर दिया था। BSB BSB: And Benaiah entered the tent of the LORD and said to Joab, “The king says, ‘Come out!’” But Joab replied, “No, I will die here.” So Benaiah relayed the message to the king, saying, “This is how Joab answered me.”

Strike him down and bury him, and so remove from me and from the house of my father the innocent blood that Joab shed.
32 IEV परन्तु मुझे आशा है कि यहोवा योआब को इस्राएल की सेना के प्रधान अब्नेर और यहूदा की सेना के प्रधान अमासा पर आक्रमण करने और मारने के लिए दण्ड देंगे, जो उसकी तुलना में उत्तम पुरुष थे। मेरे पिता दाऊद को यह भी नहीं पता था कि योआब उन दोनों को मारने की योजना बना रहा था। BSB BSB: The LORD will bring his bloodshed back upon his own head, for without the knowledge of my father David he struck down two men more righteous and better than he when he put to the sword Abner son of Ner, commander of Israel’s army, and Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah’s army.
33 IEV मुझे आशा है कि यहोवा योआब और उसके वंशजों को सर्वदा के लिए अब्नेर और अमासा की हत्या के लिए दण्ड देंगे। परन्तु मुझे आशा है कि दाऊद के वंशजों के लिए सदैव भला हो जो शासन करते हैं जैसा उसने शासन किया।” BSB BSB: Their blood will come back upon the heads of Joab and his descendants forever; but for David, his descendants, his house, and his throne, there shall be peace from the LORD forever.”
34 IEV तब बनायाह पवित्र- तम्बू में गया और योआब को मार डाला। योआब को यहूदा के जंगल में उसकी निज भूमि में मिट्टी दी गई। BSB BSB: So Benaiah son of Jehoiada went up, struck down Joab, and killed him. He was buried at his own home in the wilderness.
35 IEV तब राजा ने बनायाह को योआब के स्थान पर सेना का प्रधान नियुक्त किया, और उसने सादोक को एब्यातार के स्थान पर याजक बनने के लिए नियुक्त किया। BSB BSB: And the king appointed Benaiah son of Jehoiada in Joab’s place over the army, and he appointed Zadok the priest in Abiathar’s place.

37 IEV यह सुनिश्चित कर ले कि जिस दिन तू यरूशलेम छोड़ कर किद्रोन नाले के पार जाएगा, तुझको मार डाला जाएगा, और यह तेरी गलती होगी।” BSB BSB: On the day you go out and cross the Kidron Valley, know for sure that you will die; your blood will be on your own head.”
38 IEV शिमी ने उत्तर दिया,“हे महामहिम, जो तू कहता है वह अच्छा है। तूने जो कहा है वह मैं करूँगा।” तो शिमी कई वर्षों तक यरूशलेम में रहा। BSB BSB: “The sentence is fair,” Shimei replied. “Your servant will do as my lord the king has spoken.” And Shimei lived in Jerusalem for a long time.
39 IEV परन्तु तीन वर्ष बाद, शिमी के दो दास भाग गए। वे गत शहर के राजा माका के पुत्र आकीश के साथ रहने लगे। जब किसी ने शिमी को बताया कि वे गत में है, BSB BSB: After three years, however, two of Shimei’s slaves ran away to Achish son of Maacah, king of Gath. And Shimei was told, “Look, your slaves are in Gath.”

41 IEV परन्तु किसी ने राजा सुलैमान से कहा कि शिमी यरूशलेम से गत गया था और लौट आया है। BSB BSB: When Solomon was told that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath and had returned,
42 IEV तब राजा ने शिमी को बुलाने के लिए एक सैनिक भेजा और उससे कहा,“मैंने तुझको सत्यनिष्ठा से यहोवा के समक्ष यह प्रतिज्ञा करने के लिए कहा था कि, तू यरूशलेम नहीं छोड़ेगा। मैंने तुझ से कहा था,‘सुनिश्चित कर कि यदि तू कभी यरूशलेम छोड़ेगा, तुझको मार डाला जाएगा’ और तूने मुझे उत्तर दिया,‘तूने जो कहा है वह अच्छा है; मैं वही करूँगा जो तूने कहा है।’ BSB BSB: the king summoned Shimei and said to him, “Did I not make you swear by the LORD and warn you, ‘On the day you leave and go elsewhere, know for sure that you will die’? And you told me, ‘The sentence is fair; I will comply.’
43 IEV तो ऐसा क्यों नहीं किया जैसा करने की तूने परमेश्वर से सत्यनिष्ठा से प्रतिज्ञा की थी? मैंने जो आज्ञा दी थी, उसका उल्लंघन क्यों किया?” BSB BSB: So why have you not kept your oath to the LORD and the command that I gave you?”
44 IEV राजा ने शिमी से कहा,“तू स्वयं जानता है उन सभी बुरे कार्यों को जो तूने मेरे पिता दाऊद के लिए किए थे। इसलिए यहोवा अब तुझे उन बुरे कार्यों के लिए दण्डित करेंगे। BSB BSB: The king also said, “You know in your heart all the evil that you did to my father David. Therefore the LORD will bring your evil back upon your head.
45 IEV परन्तु यहोवा मुझे आशीष देंगे, और दाऊद के वंशजों को सर्वदा के लिए शासन करने में सक्षम बनाएँगे।” BSB BSB: But King Solomon will be blessed and David’s throne will remain secure before the LORD forever.”
46 IEV तब राजा ने यहोयादा के पुत्र बनायाह को आज्ञा दी। वह बाहर गया और उसने शिमी को मार डाला। अतः सुलैमान ने राज्य को सम्पूर्ण नियंत्रण में ले लिया। BSB BSB: Then the king commanded Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he went out and struck Shimei down, and he died. Thus the kingdom was firmly established in the hand of Solomon.
