Now appoint a king to judge us like all the other nations.”
6 IEV शमूएल उनके इस अनुरोध से बहुत अप्रसन्न था, इसलिए उसने इसके विषय में यहोवा से प्रार्थना की। BSB BSB: But when they said, “Give us a king to judge us,” their demand was displeasing in the sight of Samuel; so he prayed to the LORD.
7 IEV यहोवा ने उत्तर दिया,“उन्होंने तुझ से जो निवेदन किया है, वैसा ही कर; परन्तु ऐसा मत सोच कि उन्होंने तुझे अस्वीकार किया है। मैं उनका राजा रहा हूँ, और जिसे वे अस्वीकार कर रहे हैं, वह वास्तव में मैं हूँ। BSB BSB: And the LORD said to Samuel, “Listen to the voice of the people in all that they say to you. For it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected Me as their king.
8 IEV जब से मैं उन्हें मिस्र से बाहर लाया, तब से उन्होंने मुझे अस्वीकृत कर दिया है, और उन्होंने अन्य देवताओं की पूजा की है। और अब वे तुझे भी उसी प्रकार अस्वीकार कर रहे हैं। BSB BSB: Just as they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking Me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you.

10 IEV तब शमूएल ने उन लोगों को यहोवा की बात सुना दी। BSB BSB: So Samuel spoke all the words of the LORD to the people who were asking him for a king.
11 IEV उसने कहा,“यदि कोई राजा तुम पर शासन करेगा, तो वह तुम्हारे साथ यही सब करेगा: वह तुम्हारे पुत्रों को सेना में भर्ती होने के लिए विवश करेगा। वह उनमें से कुछ को मार्ग साफ करने के लिए रथों के आगे दौड़ाएगा। BSB BSB: He said, “This will be the manner of the king who will reign over you: He will take your sons and appoint them to serve his own chariots and horses, and to run in front of his chariots.
12 IEV उनमें से कुछ तो सैनिकों के अधिकारी होंगे, परन्तु अन्य दासों के समान उनके लिए कार्य करेंगे। वह उनमें से कुछ को अपने खेतों में हल चलाने के लिए विवश करेगा और बाद में अपनी फसलों को एकत्र करवाएगा। दूसरों को वह अपने रथों के लिए और अपने हथियार और साधन बनाने के लिए विवश करेगा। BSB BSB: He will appoint some for himself as commanders of thousands and of fifties, and others to plow his ground, to reap his harvest, and to make his weapons of war and equipment for his chariots.

16 IEV वह तुम्हारे पुरुष और स्त्री सेवकों, और तुम्हारे सबसे अच्छे मवेशियों और गधों को ले लेगा, और उन्हें अपने कार्य में लगवाएगा। BSB BSB: And he will take your menservants and maidservants and your best cattle and donkeys and put them to his own use.
17 IEV वह तुम्हारी भेड़ों और बकरियों का दशमांश लेगा। और तुम उसके दास बन जाओगे! BSB BSB: He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves.
18 IEV जब ऐसा समय आएगा, तब तुम अपने चुने हुए राजा से चिल्ला- चिल्लाकर शिकायत करोगे, परन्तु यहोवा तुम्हारी न सुनेंगे।” BSB BSB: When that day comes, you will beg for relief from the king you have chosen, but the LORD will not answer you on that day.”
19 IEV परन्तु लोगों ने शमूएल की बातों पर ध्यान नहीं दिया। उन्होंने कहा,“तुम जो कह रहे हो, उसके विषय में हमें कोई चिन्ता नहीं है! हम बस एक राजा चाहते हैं! BSB BSB: Nevertheless, the people refused to listen to Samuel. “No!” they said. “We must have a king over us.
20 IEV हम अन्य राष्ट्रों के समान बनना चाहते हैं। हम चाहते हैं कि एक राजा हम पर शासन करे और युद्ध में हमारे सैनिकों का नेतृत्व करे। BSB BSB: Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to judge us, to go out before us, and to fight our battles.”
21 IEV शमूएल ने यहोवा से कहा कि लोग क्या कह रहे हैं। BSB BSB: Samuel listened to all the words of the people and repeated them in the hearing of the LORD.
22 IEV यहोवा ने उत्तर दिया,“जो कुछ वे तुमको करने के लिए कह रहे हैं वह करो। उन्हें राजा दो!” तो शमूएल सहमत हो गया, और फिर उसने उन लोगों को घर भेज दिया। BSB BSB: “Listen to their voice,” the LORD said to Samuel. “Appoint a king for them.” Then Samuel told the men of Israel, “Everyone must go back to his city.”
