2 IEV परन्तु यहोवा ने भविष्यद्वक्ता शमायाह से कहा, BSB BSB: But the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah the man of God:
3 IEV “जा और यहूदा के राजा सुलैमान के पुत्र, रहबाम और यहूदा और बिन्यामीन के गोत्र के लोगों को यह बता, BSB BSB: “Tell Rehoboam son of Solomon king of Judah and all the Israelites in Judah and Benjamin
4 IEV यहोवा कहते हैं‘तुम अपने भाइयों, इस्राएलियों से युद्ध मत करो। तुम सब अपने- अपने घर लौट जाओ। जो भी हुआ है यहोवा की इच्छा से हुआ है।’” इसलिए शमायाह ने उन्हें परमेश्वर का सन्देश सुना दिया और उन्होंने यहोवा की आज्ञा मान कर, यारोबाम और उसके सैनिकों से युद्ध नहीं किया। BSB BSB: that this is what the LORD says: ‘You are not to go up and fight against your brothers. Each of you must return home, for this is My doing.’” So they listened to the words of the LORD and turned back from going against Jeroboam.
6 IEV यहूदा और बिन्यामीन के गोत्रों के क्षेत्र में उसने दीवारें बनवाई अर्थात् बैतलहम, एताम, तकोआ BSB BSB: He built up Bethlehem, Etam, Tekoa,
7 IEV बेतसूर, सोको, अदुल्लाम, BSB BSB: Beth-zur, Soco, Adullam,
8 IEV गत, मारेशा, जीप, BSB BSB: Gath, Mareshah, Ziph,
9 IEV अदोरैम, लाकीश, अजेका, BSB BSB: Adoraim, Lachish, Azekah,
10 IEV सोरा, अय्यालोन और हेब्रोन जो यहूदा- बिन्यामीन में है। BSB BSB: Zorah, Aijalon, and Hebron, the fortified cities in Judah and Benjamin.

12 IEV हर एक नगर में उसने ढालें और भाले रखवा कर उन्हें अच्छी तरह सुरक्षित कर दिया। इस प्रकार वह यहूदा और बिन्यामीन के गोत्रों पर शासन करने लगा। BSB BSB: He also put shields and spears in all the cities and strengthened them greatly. So Judah and Benjamin belonged to him.
13 IEV सम्पूर्ण इस्राएल में याजक और लेवी के अन्य वंशज रहबाम के पक्ष में थे। BSB BSB: Moreover, the priests and Levites from all their districts throughout Israel stood with Rehoboam.
14 IEV लेवी के वंशज अपनी चारागाहें और सम्पदा को त्याग कर यरूशलेम में और यहूदा के अन्य नगरों में आकर बस गए क्योंकि यारोबाम और उसके पुत्र उन्हें यहोवा के याजक होने का कार्य नहीं करने देते थे। BSB BSB: For the Levites left their pasturelands and their possessions and went to Judah and Jerusalem, because Jeroboam and his sons had rejected them as priests of the LORD.
15 IEV इसके अतिरिक्त यारोबाम ने जो अन्य याजकों को नियुक्त कर दिया नगरों के सब ऊँचे स्थानों में वेदियाँ बना कर कि वहाँ बलि चढ़ाएँ। उन मूर्तियों को बलि चढ़ाने के लिए जिन्हें उसने बकरियों और बछड़ों के समान बनाया था। BSB BSB: And Jeroboam appointed his own priests for the high places and for the goat demons and calf idols he had made.
16 IEV और इस्राएल में जो लोग यहोवा की आराधना करना चाहते थे वे लेवी के वंशजों के साथ अपने पितरों के परमेश्वर यहोवा को बलि चढ़ाने यरूशलेम आए। BSB BSB: Those from every tribe of Israel who had set their hearts to seek the LORD their God followed the Levites to Jerusalem to sacrifice to the LORD, the God of their fathers.
17 IEV उन्होंने यहूदा राज्य को स्थिरता प्रदान की और तीन वर्ष तक रहबाम के शासन से प्रसन्न रहे। उस दौरान में उन्होंने अपना जीवन दाऊद के समान और सुलैमान के आरम्भिक जीवन के समान रखा। BSB BSB: So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah and supported Rehoboam son of Solomon for three years, because they walked for three years in the way of David and Solomon.
18 IEV रहबाम ने दाऊद के पुत्र यरीमोत और उसकी पत्नी, यिशै के पोते एलीआब की पुत्री, अबीहैल की पुत्री महलत से विवाह किया। BSB BSB: And Rehoboam married Mahalath, who was the daughter of David’s son Jerimoth and of Abihail, the daughter of Jesse’s son Eliab.
19 IEV रहबाम और महलत के तीन पुत्र उत्पन्न हुए: यूश, शेमर्याह और जाहम। BSB BSB: She bore sons to him: Jeush, Shemariah, and Zaham.
20 IEV इसके बाद रहबाम ने अबशालोम की पुत्री माका से विवाह किया जिससे उसके चार पुत्र उत्पन्न हुए: अबिय्याह, अत्तै, जीजा, और शलोमीत। BSB BSB: After her, he married Maacah daughter of Absalom, and she bore to him Abijah, Attai, Ziza, and Shelomith.
21 IEV रहबाम ने अपनी सब पत्नियों और रखैलियों में से माका को सबसे अधिक प्रेम किया। उसकी कुल अठारह पत्नियाँ और साठ रखैलियाँ थीं। उसके अट्ठाईस पुत्र और साठ पुत्रियाँ थीं। BSB BSB: Rehoboam loved Maacah daughter of Absalom more than all his wives and concubines. In all, he had eighteen wives and sixty concubines, and he was the father of twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.
22 IEV रहबाम ने माका के पुत्र अबिय्याह को सब भाइयों में प्रधान बनाया कि वही राजा बने। BSB BSB: Rehoboam appointed Abijah son of Maacah as chief prince among his brothers, intending to make him king.
23 IEV उसने बड़ी समझदारी से अपने सब पुत्रों को यहूदा और बिन्यामीन के क्षेत्रों में भिन्न- भिन्न शहरपनाह वाले नगरों में भेज दिया। उसने उनके लिए बहुतायत से भोजन वस्तुएँ और अनेक पत्नियाँ उपलब्ध करवा दीं। BSB BSB: Rehoboam also acted wisely by dispersing some of his sons throughout the districts of Judah and Benjamin, and to all the fortified cities. He gave them abundant provisions and sought many wives for them.
