1 IEV यहोवा की आज्ञा के अनुसार इस्राएली लोगों ने सीन नामक मरुभूमि से चले और एक स्थान से दूसरे स्थान यात्रा करते हुए रपीदीम नामक एक स्थान में पहुँचे। वहाँ उन्होंने अपनी छावनी डाली परन्तु वहाँ पीने के लिए पानी नहीं था। BSB BSB: Then the whole congregation of Israel left the Desert of Sin, moving from place to place as the LORD commanded. They camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink.
2 IEV इसलिए वे मूसा के विरुद्ध हो गए और कहा,“हमारे पीने के लिए कहीं से भी पानी ला।” मूसा ने उनसे कहा,“तुम लोग मेरे विरुद्ध क्यों बोल रहे हो? तुम यहोवा की परीक्षा क्यों लेना चाहते हो कि उनमें तुम्हारी आवश्यकताओं को पूरा करने की शक्ति है या नहीं?” BSB BSB: So the people contended with Moses, “Give us water to drink.” “Why do you contend with me?” Moses replied. “Why do you test the LORD?”
3 IEV परन्तु प्यास के कारण वे व्याकुल थे। इसलिए वे मूसा से कहते रहे,“तू हमें मिस्र से क्यों निकाल लाया? क्या तू हमें इसलिए ले आया है कि हम और हमारी सन्तान और हमारे पशु प्यास से मर जाएँ?” BSB BSB: But the people thirsted for water there, and they grumbled against Moses: “Why have you brought us out of Egypt—to make us and our children and livestock die of thirst?”
4 IEV मूसा ने परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना की,“मैं इन लोगों को कैसे सम्भालूँ? वे तो मुझे पथराव करके मार डालने पर है।” BSB BSB: Then Moses cried out to the LORD, “What should I do with these people? A little more and they will stone me!”
5 IEV यहोवा ने मूसा से कहा,“इन लोगों को ले कर आगे- आगे चल। अपने साथ इस्राएल के कुछ प्रधानों को ले और अपने हाथ में तेरी वही लाठी पकड़ जिससे तूने नील नदी पर चोट की थी। BSB BSB: And the LORD said to Moses, “Walk on ahead of the people and take some of the elders of Israel with you. Take along in your hand the staff with which you struck the Nile, and go.
6 IEV और सुन! मैं तेरे सामने सीनै पर्वत की एक बड़ी चट्टान पर खड़ा दिखाई दूँगा। उस चट्टान पर अपनी लाठी मारना। जैसे ही तू उस चट्टान को मारेगा वैसे ही उस चट्टान से पानी निकलने लगेगा।” मूसा ने परमेश्वर की आज्ञा के अनुसार ही किया और इस्राएल के बुजुर्गों के सामने उस चट्टान से पानी निकाला। BSB BSB: Behold, I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. And when you strike the rock, water will come out of it for the people to drink.” So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel.
7 IEV मूसा ने उस स्थान के दो नाम रखें:“मस्सा” जिसका अर्थ है,“परीक्षा” और“मरीबा” जिसका अर्थ है,“वाद- विवाद।” मूसा ने उस स्थान का नाम“मस्सा” इसलिए रखा कि इस्राएली यहोवा की परीक्षा लेते हुए कह रहे थे,“क्या यहोवा वास्तव में हमारे बीच हैं और वह हमारी सहायता कर पाएँगे या नहीं?” और उस स्थान का नाम मूसा ने“मरीबा” इसलिए रखा कि वे मूसा से वाद- विवाद कर रहे थे। BSB BSB: He named the place Massah and Meribah because the Israelites quarreled, and because they tested the LORD, saying, “Is the LORD among us or not?”
8 IEV जब इस्राएली रपीदीम में ही थे तब अमालेकियों ने आकर उनसे युद्ध किया। BSB BSB: After this, the Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim.
9 IEV इसलिए मूसा ने यहोशू से कहा,“कुछ पुरुषों को चुन ले कि वे कल अमालेकियों से युद्ध करें और मैं कल अपने हाथ में वह लाठी ले कर जिसे यहोवा ने मुझे साथ रखने के लिए कहा है, पर्वत की चोटी पर खड़ा रहूँगा।” BSB BSB: So Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on the hilltop with the staff of God in my hand.”
10 IEV यहोशू ने मूसा की आज्ञा का पालन करते हुए कुछ पुरुषों को चुन लिया और अमालेकियों से युद्ध करने गया। जब युद्ध होने लगा तब मूसा, हारून और हूर पर्वत की चोटी पर चढ़ गए कि युद्ध क्षेत्र को देख सकें। BSB BSB: Joshua did as Moses had instructed him and fought against the Amalekites, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
11 IEV मूसा ने अपने हाथ उठाए हुए थे जिसके कारण इस्राएली विजयी हो रहे थे परन्तु जब वह अपने हाथ नीचे करता था तब अमालेकी विजयी होने लगते थे। BSB BSB: As long as Moses held up his hands, Israel prevailed; but when he lowered them, Amalek prevailed.
12 IEV हारून ने देखा कि मूसा हाथ उठाए- उठाए बहुत थक गया है इसलिए उसने और हूर ने एक बड़ा पत्थर लुढ़का कर मूसा के निकट किया कि वह उस पर बैठ जाए और जब मूसा उस पर बैठ गया तब इन दोनों ने मूसा का एक- एक हाथ पकड़ कर उसे उठाए रखा और इस प्रकार शाम तक वे मूसा के हाथ उठाए रहे। BSB BSB: When Moses’ hands grew heavy, they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. Then Aaron and Hur held his hands up, one on each side, so that his hands remained steady until the sun went down.
13 IEV इस प्रकार, यहोशू और उसके सैनिकों ने अमालेकियों को युद्ध में हरा दिया। BSB BSB: So Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his army with the sword.
15 IEV तब मूसा ने वहाँ पत्थरों की एक वेदी बना कर उसका नाम रखा,“यहोवा मेरा ध्वज है।” BSB BSB: And Moses built an altar and named it The LORD Is My Banner.
16 IEV और मूसा ने कहा,“यहोवा के सिंहासन के सामने यह प्रतिज्ञा की गई है कि यहोवा अमालेकियों से सदा युद्ध करते रहेंगे!” BSB BSB: “Indeed,” he said, “a hand was lifted up toward the throne of the LORD. The LORD will war against Amalek from generation to generation.”
