1 IEV कुछ समय बाद अब्राम को दर्शन में यहोवा का आदेश मिला,“किसी से मत डर, मैं तेरी रक्षा करूँगा और मैं एक बड़ा पुरस्कार दूँगा।” BSB BSB: After these events, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”
3 IEV अब्राम ने यह भी कहा,“आपने मुझे कोई संतान नहीं दी है इसलिए मेरे घर में एक दास है जो मेरे पास जो कुछ भी है उसका उत्तराधिकारी होगा!” BSB BSB: Abram continued, “Behold, You have given me no offspring, so a servant in my household will be my heir.”
4 IEV यहोवा ने उत्तर दिया,“नहीं! वह तेरी सम्पत्ति का उत्तराधिकारी नहीं होगा। तू ही अपनी सम्पदा के उत्तराधिकारी का पिता बनेगा।” BSB BSB: Then the word of the LORD came to Abram, saying, “This one will not be your heir, but one who comes from your own body will be your heir.”
5 IEV तब यहोवा अब्राम को तम्बू के बाहर ले आए और कहा,“आकाश को देख! क्या तू सितारों को गिन सकता है? नहीं, तू नहीं गिन सकता क्योंकि वे अनगिनत हैं। तेरे वंशज भी सितारों के समान अनगिनत होंगे।” BSB BSB: And the LORD took him outside and said, “Now look to the heavens and count the stars, if you are able.” Then He told him, “So shall your offspring be.”
6 IEV अब्राम ने परमेश्वर पर विश्वास किया कि यहोवा ने जो कुछ कहा है वह पूरा होगा। उसके इस विश्वास के कारण यहोवा ने उसे धर्मी माना। BSB BSB: Abram believed the LORD, and it was credited to him as righteousness.
7 IEV यहोवा ने उसे यह भी कहा,“मैं ही तुझे कसदियों के ऊर नगर से निकाल कर लाया हूँ। मैं तुझे यहाँ इसलिए लाया कि तू इस सम्पूर्ण प्रदेश का स्वामी बने।” BSB BSB: The LORD also told him, “I am the LORD, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to possess.”
8 IEV परन्तु अब्राम ने कहा,“हे प्रभु यहोवा, मुझे कैसे विश्वास हो कि यह प्रदेश मेरा हो जाएगा?” BSB BSB: But Abram replied, “Lord GOD, how can I know that I will possess it?”
9 IEV परमेश्वर ने उससे कहा,“मेरे लिए एक तीन वर्ष का बछड़ा और एक तीन वर्ष की बकरी और एक पिण्डुकी और एक कबूतर का बच्चा ले आ।” BSB BSB: And the LORD said to him, “Bring Me a heifer, a goat, and a ram, each three years old, along with a turtledove and a young pigeon.”
10 IEV तब अब्राम उन सभी को ले आया। उसने उन्हें आधा- आधा काट कर आमने- सामने रख दिया परन्तु उसने पिण्डुकी और कबूतर को काट कर आधा- आधा नहीं किया। BSB BSB: So Abram brought all these to Him, split each of them down the middle, and laid the halves opposite each other. The birds, however, he did not cut in half.
11 IEV मृत पशुओं को खाने वाले पक्षी, शवों को खाने के लिए नीचे आए, परन्तु अब्राम ने उन्हें दूर कर दिया। BSB BSB: And the birds of prey descended on the carcasses, but Abram drove them away.
12 IEV जब सूर्य अस्त होने लगा, अब्राम चैन की नींद सो गया, और अचानक उसके चारों ओर सब कुछ अन्धकारमय और डरावना हो गया। BSB BSB: As the sun was setting, Abram fell into a deep sleep, and suddenly great terror and darkness overwhelmed him.
13 IEV तब यहोवा ने अब्राम से कहा,“मैं चाहता हूँ तू जाने कि तेरे वंशज विदेशी बनेंगे और वे उस देश में जाएँगे जो उनका नहीं होगा। वे वहाँ के स्वामियों के दास होंगे। चार सौ वर्षों तक उनके साथ उस क्षेत्र के स्वामी बुरा व्यवहार करेंगे। BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Abram, “Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not their own, and they will be enslaved and mistreated four hundred years.
14 IEV परन्तु फिर मैं उस राष्ट्र का न्याय करूँगा तथा उसे दण्ड दूँगा, जहाँ वे दास होंगे। तब तेरे वंशज उस देश को छोड़ देंगे और अपने साथ बहुत सम्पत्ति भी ले जाएँगे। BSB BSB: But I will judge the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will depart with many possessions.
15 IEV परन्तु तू शान्ति से मरेगा और दफनाया जाएगा, तब जब तू अत्याधिक वृद्ध हो जाएगा। BSB BSB: You, however, will go to your fathers in peace and be buried at a ripe old age.
17 IEV जब सूर्य अस्त हो गया और अंधेरा छा गया, तब एक मशाल और मिट्टी का एक पात्र जिसमें जलते हुए कोयलों से धुँआ उठ रहा था वे प्रकट होकर आधे कटे हुए पशुओं के मध्य से निकले। BSB BSB: When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, behold, a smoking firepot and a flaming torch appeared and passed between the halves of the carcasses.
18 IEV उस दिन यहोवा ने अब्राम के साथ वाचा बाँधी। यहोवा ने उसे बताया,“मैं यह सम्पूर्ण प्रदेश तेरे वंशजों को दूँगा जो मिस्र की पूर्वी सीमा में बहने वाली नदी से ले कर दक्षिण तक और परात नदी के उत्तर के बीच का प्रदेश है। BSB BSB: On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your descendants I have given this land—from the river of Egypt to the great River Euphrates—
19 IEV यह वह स्थान है जहाँ केनी, कनिज्जी, कदमोनी, BSB BSB: the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites,
20 IEV हित्ती, परिज्जी, रपाई, BSB BSB: Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites,
21 IEV एमोरी, कनानी, गिर्गाशी और यबूसी बसे हुए हैं।” BSB BSB: Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites, and Jebusites.”
