3 IEV अब्राहम अगली सुबह उठा, अपने गधे पर एक गद्दी कस कर और दो सेवकों और अपने पुत्र, इसहाक को साथ लिया। उसने होम- बलि की आग के लिए कुछ लकड़ियाँ भी काट कर तैयार की। तब उन्होंने उस स्थान के लिए यात्रा आरम्भ की जहाँ जाने के विषय में परमेश्वर ने उन्हें बताया था। BSB BSB: So Abraham got up early the next morning, saddled his donkey, and took along two of his servants and his son Isaac. He split the wood for a burnt offering and set out for the place God had designated.
4 IEV उनकी तीन दिन की यात्रा के बाद अब्राहम ने दूर से उस स्थान को देखा जहाँ परमेश्वर चाहते थे कि वह जाए। BSB BSB: On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance.
7 IEV तब इसहाक ने अपने पिता अब्राहम से कहा,“पिताजी!” अब्राहम ने उत्तर दिया,“हाँ, मेरे पुत्र, मैं यहाँ हूँ!” इसहाक ने कहा,“देखो, हमारे पास आग लगाने के लिए लकड़ी और कोयला भी है परन्तु होम- बलि के लिए मेम्ना कहाँ है?” BSB BSB: Then Isaac said to his father Abraham, “My father!” “Here I am, my son,” he replied. “The fire and the wood are here,” said Isaac, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”
9 IEV वे उस स्थान पर पहुँचे जहाँ जाने के लिए परमेश्वर ने कहा था। वहाँ, अब्राहम ने एक पत्थर की वेदी बनाई और उस पर लकड़ियाँ रखी। तब उसने अपने पुत्र इसहाक को बाँध कर उसे लकड़ी के ऊपर वेदी पर रख दिया। BSB BSB: When they arrived at the place God had designated, Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood. He bound his son Isaac and placed him on the altar, atop the wood.
10 IEV तब अब्राहम ने अपने पुत्र को मारने के लिए छूरी बाहर निकाली। BSB BSB: Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son.
12 IEV उस स्वर्गदूत ने कहा,“तू अपने पुत्र को चोट न पहुँचा क्योंकि मैं जान गया हूँ कि तू मेरा सम्मान करता है और मेरी आज्ञा मानता है। मैंने देखा कि तूने अपने एकलौते पुत्र को मेरे लिए बलि देने से मना नहीं किया।” BSB BSB: “Do not lay a hand on the boy or do anything to him,” said the angel, “for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your only son from me.”
13 IEV तब अब्राहम ने पास की झाड़ियों में एक मेढ़े को सींगों से फँसा हुआ देखा। अब्राहम ने उस मेढ़े को पकड़ कर और उसे अपने पुत्र के स्थान पर मार कर होम- बलि चढ़ाया। BSB BSB: Then Abraham looked up and saw behind him a ram in a thicket, caught by its horns. So he went and took the ram and offered it as a burnt offering in place of his son.
14 IEV इसलिए अब्राहम ने उस स्थान का नाम“यहोवा प्रदान करेंगे” रखा। आज तक वह पर्वत,“यहोवा का पर्वत जहाँ वे प्रदान करते हैं”, कहलाता है। BSB BSB: And Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. So to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.”
15 IEV यहोवा के स्वर्गदूत ने अब्राहम को दूसरी बार स्वर्ग से पुकारा। BSB BSB: And the angel of the LORD called to Abraham from heaven a second time,
16 IEV उन्होंने अब्राहम से कहा,“मैं यहोवा, यह घोषणा करता हूँ कि तूने मेरी आज्ञा मानी और तू मेरे लिए अपने पुत्र को बलि करने के लिए भी तैयार था, BSB BSB: saying, “By Myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, that because you have done this and have not withheld your only son,
17 IEV अतः निष्ठापूर्वक मैं प्रतिज्ञा करता हूँ स्वयं मेरी ही गवाही के द्वारा, कि एक दिन तेरे वंशज आकाश के सितारों और समुद्र की रेत के कणों के समान अनगिनत होंगे। तेरे वंशज अपने शत्रुओं को हरा कर उनके नगरों पर अधिकार कर लेंगे। BSB BSB: I will surely bless you, and I will multiply your descendants like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will possess the gates of their enemies.
18 IEV तूने मेरी आज्ञा मानी है। इस कारण संसार की सभी जातियाँ तेरे वंशजों के द्वारा आशीष पाएँगी।” BSB BSB: And through your offspring all nations of the earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”
19 IEV इसके बाद अब्राहम और इसहाक अपने प्रतीक्षा करने वाले सेवकों के पास आए और वे सब बेर्शेबा को लौट गए। अब्राहम और उसके लोग वहीं रहते रहे। BSB BSB: Abraham went back to his servants, and they got up and set out together for Beersheba. And Abraham settled in Beersheba.
20 IEV इन बातों के बाद किसी ने अब्राहम को समाचार दिया,“तेरे भाई नाहोर की पत्नी मिल्का ने भी बच्चों को जन्म दिया है।” BSB BSB: Some time later, Abraham was told, “Milcah has also borne sons to your brother Nahor:
21 IEV उसके बड़े पुत्र का नाम ऊस था और ऊस के भाई का नाम बूज और कमूएल था। कमूएल अराम का पिता था। BSB BSB: Uz the firstborn, his brother Buz, Kemuel (the father of Aram),
22 IEV कमूएल के बाद केसेद, फिर हज़ो, पिल्दाश, यिदलाप और बतूएल। BSB BSB: Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel.”
23 IEV बतूएल रिबका का पिता था। अब्राहम के भाई नाहोर की पत्नी मिल्का के ये ही आठ पुत्र थे। BSB BSB: And Bethuel became the father of Rebekah. Milcah bore these eight sons to Abraham’s brother Nahor.
24 IEV नाहोर की एक रखैल भी थी जिसका नाम रूमा था। उससे भी चार पुत्र हुए जिनके नाम तेबह, गहम, तहश और माका थे। BSB BSB: Moreover, Nahor’s concubine, whose name was Reumah, bore Tebah, Gaham, Tahash, and Maacah.
