12 IEV तब सैनिकों का समूह, उनके प्रधान और कुछ आराधनालय के रक्षकों ने यीशु को पकड़ लिया और उन्हें बाँध दिया कि वे बच कर ना जा सकें। BSB BSB: Then the band of soldiers, with its commander and the officers of the Jews, arrested Jesus and bound Him.

And Peter was also standing with them, warming himself.
19 IEV महायाजक ने यीशु से उनके शिष्यों और उनकी शिक्षाओं के विषय में पूछताछ की। BSB BSB: Meanwhile, the high priest questioned Jesus about His disciples and His teaching.
20 IEV यीशु ने उत्तर दिया,“मैंने हर किसी के साथ खुल कर बात की थी। मैंने सभाओं और आराधनालय में, जहाँ लोग एकत्र होते हैं, सदा सिखाया हैं। मैंने कुछ भी गुप्त में नहीं सिखाया है। BSB BSB: “I have spoken openly to the world,” Jesus answered. “I always taught in the synagogues and at the temple, where all the Jews come together. I said nothing in secret.
21 IEV तो आप मुझसे यह प्रश्न क्यों पूछ रहे हैं? उन लोगों से पूछो जिन्होंने मेरी शिक्षाओं को सुना है। वे जानते हैं कि मैंने क्या कहा।” BSB BSB: Why are you asking Me? Ask those who heard My message. Surely they know what I said.”
22 IEV जब यीशु ने यह बातें कहीं, तो उनके पास खड़े एक आराधनालय के रक्षक ने अपने हाथ से उन्हें जोर से मारा। उसने कहा,“यह महायाजक को उत्तर देने का सही- सही मार्ग नहीं है।” BSB BSB: When Jesus had said this, one of the officers standing nearby slapped Him in the face and said, “Is this how You answer the high priest?”
23 IEV यीशु ने उसे उत्तर दिया,“यदि मैंने कुछ गलत कहा, तो मुझे बता कि क्या गलत कहा। परन्तु, यदि मैंने जो कहा वह सही था, तो मुझे थप्पड़ नहीं मारना चाहिए था।” BSB BSB: Jesus replied, “If I said something wrong, testify as to what was wrong. But if I spoke correctly, why did you strike Me?”
24 IEV तब हन्ना ने यीशु को, जो अभी तक बँधे हुए थे; महायाजक कैफा के पास भेजा। BSB BSB: Then Annas sent Him, still bound, to Caiaphas the high priest.

27 IEV पतरस ने फिर से अस्वीकार कर दिया, और तुरन्त एक मुर्गे ने बाँग दी। BSB BSB: Peter denied it once more, and immediately a rooster crowed.
28 IEV तब सैनिक यीशु को कैफा के घर से पिलातुस के मुख्यालय तक ले गए जो रोम का अधिकारी था। यह भोर का समय था; पिलातुस एक यहूदी नहीं था, इसलिए यीशु पर दोष लगाने वालों ने सोचा कि यदि वे उसके मुख्यालय में प्रवेश करेंगे, तो वे स्वयं को अशुद्ध कर देंगे और फसह का पर्व मनाने में असमर्थ होंगे इसलिए वे भीतर नहीं गए। BSB BSB: Then they led Jesus away from Caiaphas into the Praetorium. By now it was early morning, and the Jews did not enter the Praetorium, to avoid being defiled and unable to eat the Passover.
29 IEV अतः पिलातुस उनसे बात करने के लिए बाहर निकल आया। उसने कहा,“तुम इस व्यक्ति पर क्या आरोप लगा रहे हो?” BSB BSB: So Pilate went out to them and asked, “What accusation are you bringing against this man?”
30 IEV उन्होंने उत्तर दिया“यदि यह व्यक्ति अपराधी नहीं होता, तो हम इसे तेरे पास नहीं लाते।” BSB BSB: “If He were not a criminal,” they replied, “we would not have handed Him over to you.”
31 IEV तब पिलातुस ने उनसे कहा,“उसे ले जाओ और अपनी व्यवस्था के अनुसार उसका न्याय करो।” फिर यहूदी अगुओं ने कहा,“हम उसे मृत्यु दण्ड देना चाहते हैं, परन्तु तेरा रोमी कानून हमें ऐसा करने से रोकता है।” BSB BSB: “You take Him and judge Him by your own law,” Pilate told them. “We are not permitted to execute anyone,” the Jews replied.
32 IEV उन्होंने यह इसलिए कहा जिससे वह कथन सच हो जो यीशु ने अपनी मृत्यु के विषय में कहा था कि उनकी मृत्यु कैसे होगी। BSB BSB: This was to fulfill the word that Jesus had spoken to indicate the kind of death He was going to die.
34 IEV यीशु ने उत्तर दिया,“क्या तू इसलिए पूछ रहा है क्योंकि तू स्वयं जानना चाहता है या दूसरों ने तुझको यह प्रश्न पूछने के लिए कहा है?” BSB BSB: “Are you saying this on your own,” Jesus asked, “or did others tell you about Me?”
35 IEV पिलातुस ने उत्तर दिया,“मैं एक यहूदी नहीं हूँ, तुम्हारे अपने देश और प्रधान याजकों ने तुमको मेरे हाथों में सौंपा है। तुमने क्या गलत किया है?” BSB BSB: “Am I a Jew?” Pilate replied. “Your own people and chief priests handed You over to me. What have You done?”
37 IEV तब पिलातुस ने उनसे कहा,“तो क्या तुम राजा हो?” यीशु ने उत्तर दिया,“हाँ, मेरे जन्म का कारण और इस संसार में आना इसलिए था कि मैं लोगों को परमेश्वर के विषय में सच्चाई बता सकूँ। जो सच्चाई से प्रेम करता है वह मेरी सुनता है।” BSB BSB: “Then You are a king!” Pilate said. “You say that I am a king,” Jesus answered. “For this reason I was born and have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to My voice.”
38 IEV पिलातुस ने उनसे पूछा,“सच क्या है? यीशु से प्रश्न पूछने के बाद पिलातुस बाहर गया और यहूदी अगुओं से फिर से बात की। उसने उनसे कहा,“मेरे विचारों में इसने कोई कानून नहीं तोड़ा है। BSB BSB: “What is truth?” Pilate asked. And having said this, he went out again to the Jews and told them, “I find no basis for a charge against Him.
39 IEV यद्यपि तुम यहूदियों की एक प्रथा है की प्रतिवर्ष फसह के पर्व के समय, तुम मुझसे एक बन्दी को मुक्त करने को कहते हो जो बन्दीगृह में है। तो क्या तुम चाहते की मैं यहूदियों के राजा को मुक्त कर दूँ?” BSB BSB: But it is your custom that I release to you one prisoner at the Passover. So then, do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?”
40 IEV वे फिर से चिल्लाकर बोले,“नहीं, इस व्यक्ति को मुक्त मत करना, बरअब्बा को मुक्त कर दो!” बरअब्बा एक डाकू था। BSB BSB: “Not this man,” they shouted, “but Barabbas!” (Now Barabbas was an insurrectionist.)
