1 UDB तब मूसा और हारून राजा के पास गए। उन्होंने उससे कहा, “परमेश्वर यहोवा, जिनकी हम इस्राएल के लोग आराधना करते है, तुझ से कहते हैं: ‘मेरे लोगों को मरुभूमि में जाने दे कि वे मेरे सम्मान में वहाँ पर्व मनाएँ!'" BSB BSB: After that, Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘Let My people go, so that they may hold a feast to Me in the wilderness.’”
2 UDB परन्तु राजा ने कहा, “यहोवा मेरे लिए कोई महत्त्व नहीं रखता है। मुझे उसकी बातें मानने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है। मैं इस यहोवा को नहीं जानता हूँ! मैं इस्राएलियों को नहीं जाने दूँगा, यहाँ से चले जाओ!" BSB BSB: But Pharaoh replied, “Who is the LORD that I should obey His voice and let Israel go? I do not know the LORD, and I will not let Israel go.”
3 UDB मूसा और हारून ने उत्तर दिया, “हे परमेश्वर यहोवा, जिनकी हम इब्री लोग आराधना करते है, उन्होंने हम लोगों को दर्शन दिया है और हमें बताया है कि तुझसे क्या कहना है। इसलिए हम लोग तुझ से प्रार्थना करते है कि तू हम लोगों को तीन दिन तक मरुभूमि में यात्रा करने दे। वहाँ हम लोग अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा को बलि चढ़ाएँगे। यदि हम लोग ऐसा नहीं करेंगे तो वह बीमारियों से या हमारे शत्रुओं के आक्रमण से हमारे मरने का कारण उत्पन्न कर देंगे।" BSB BSB: “The God of the Hebrews has met with us,” they answered. “Please let us go on a three-day journey into the wilderness to sacrifice to the LORD our God, or He may strike us with plagues or with the sword.”
4 UDB परन्तु मिस्र के राजा ने उन से कहा, “मूसा और हारून, तुम इस्राएली लोगों को काम करने से क्यों रोक रहे हो? उन दासों से कहो कि वे अपने काम पर लौट जाएँ!" BSB BSB: But the king of Egypt said to them, “Moses and Aaron, why do you draw the people away from their work? Get back to your labor!”
5 UDB राजा ने यह भी कहा, “सुनो! तुम लोग जो इस देश में रहते हो, संख्या में मिस्रियों से अधिक हो। तुम उन्हें काम करने से क्यों रोक रहे हो?” BSB BSB: Pharaoh also said, “Look, the people of the land are now numerous, and you would be stopping them from their labor.”
6 UDB उसी दिन राजा ने दासों के मिस्री सरदारों और उनके प्रबन्धकों को आज्ञा दी, BSB BSB: That same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people and their foremen:
8 UDB परन्तु, वे उतनी ही ईंटें बनाएँगे जितनी वे पहले बनाते थे। ईंटों की संख्या कम न हो। वे काम करना नहीं चाहते है इसलिए अपने देवता की आराधना के बहाने जंगल में जाना चाहते है और मुझसे अनुमति मांग रहे है। BSB BSB: But require of them the same quota of bricks as before; do not reduce it. For they are lazy; that is why they are crying out, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to our God.’
9 UDB पुरुषों से और अधिक काम करवाओ ताकि उनके पास उनके अगुओं का झूठ सुनने का समय न हो!" BSB BSB: Make the work harder on the men so they will be occupied and pay no attention to these lies.”
10 UDB तब दासों के सरदार और इस्राएली सहायक वहाँ गए जहाँ इस्राएली लोग थे और उनसे कहा, “राजा की आज्ञा है कि तुम्हें भूसा न दिया जाए। BSB BSB: So the taskmasters and foremen of the people went out and said to them, “This is what Pharaoh says: ‘I am no longer giving you straw.
11 UDB तो अब तुम्हें स्वयं ही भूसा खोजकर लाना होगा परन्तु ईंटें बनाने में संख्या की कमी न आए।" BSB BSB: Go and get your own straw wherever you can find it; but your workload will in no way be reduced.’”
12 UDB तब इस्राएली लोग मिस्र भर में भूसे को खोजने के लिए गए। BSB BSB: So the people scattered all over the land of Egypt to gather stubble for straw.
13 UDB दासों के सरदारों ने उन पर बल डालकर कहा, "हर दिन का अपना सौंपा हुआ काम पूरा करो। तुम्हे उतनी ही ईंटें बनानी है जितनी तुम पहले बनाया करते थे!” BSB BSB: The taskmasters kept pressing them, saying, “Fulfill your quota each day, just as you did when straw was provided.”
14 UDB जब उनका उत्पाद घटा तो फ़िरौन के मिस्री श्रम अधिकारियों ने इस्राएली सहायकों को छड़ी से मारा और उनसे पूछा, “तुम्हारे अधीन रखे गए दासों ने आज पहले के जितनी ईंटें क्यों नहीं बनाई?” BSB BSB: Then the Israelite foremen, whom Pharaoh’s taskmasters had set over the people, were beaten and asked, “Why have you not fulfilled your quota of bricks yesterday or today, as you did before?”
15 UDB तब इस्राएली सहायक राजा के पास गए और पुकारकर कहा, “महामहिम, तू हमारे साथ ऐसा कठोर व्यवहार क्यों कर रहा है? BSB BSB: So the Israelite foremen went and appealed to Pharaoh: “Why are you treating your servants this way?
16 UDB अब हम लोगों को भूसा नहीं दिया जाता किन्तु हम लोगों को आदेश दिया गया कि उतनी ही ईंटें बनाएँ जितनी पहले बनती थीं। और वे हमें मारते हैं। यह तेरे अपने दासों के सरदारों के कारण है कि हम पहले के समान ईंटें नहीं बना पा रहे है!" BSB BSB: No straw has been given to your servants, yet we are told, ‘Make bricks!’ Look, your servants are being beaten, but the fault is with your own people.”
17 UDB परन्तु राजा ने कहा, “तुम आलसी हो और काम नहीं करना चाहते! यही कारण है कि तुम कहते रहते हो, ‘हमें जंगल जाकर यहोवा की आराधना करने की अनुमति दे।’ BSB BSB: “You are slackers!” Pharaoh replied. “Slackers! That is why you keep saying, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to the LORD.’
18 UDB अत: काम पर वापस जाओ! तुम्हें भूसा नहीं दिया जाएगा और ईंटों की संख्या कम नहीं होनी चाहिए!" BSB BSB: Now get to work. You will be given no straw, yet you must deliver the full quota of bricks.”
19 UDB इस्राएली सहायकों को पता था कि उनका बुरा समय था क्योंकि उन्हें बताया गया था, “हम तुम्हारे लिए प्रतिदिन की ईंटों की संख्या कम करने वाले नहीं है।” BSB BSB: The Israelite foremen realized they were in trouble when they were told, “You must not reduce your daily quota of bricks.”
20 UDB तब वे राजा के महल से निकल गए और उनकी भेंट हारून और मूसा से हुई। हारून और मूसा उनकी ही प्रतीक्षा कर रहे थे। BSB BSB: When they left Pharaoh, they confronted Moses and Aaron, who stood waiting to meet them.
21 UDB उन्होंने हारून और मूसा से कहा, “यहोवा तुम्हारे कर्म का परिणाम देखें। परमेश्वर तुम्हें दण्ड दें क्योंकि तुम्हारे कारण राजा और उसके अधिकारी हमसे घृणा करने लगे है। तुमने हमें मार डालने का कारण उन्हें सुझा दिया है!” BSB BSB: “May the LORD look upon you and judge you,” the foremen said, “for you have made us a stench before Pharaoh and his officials; you have placed in their hand a sword to kill us!”
22 UDB मूसा ने उनके पास से निकलकर यहोवा से प्रार्थना की, “हे यहोवा, आपने अपनी प्रजा पर ये सब बुराइयाँ क्यों आने दी हैं? और आपने मुझे यहाँ क्यों भेजा है? BSB BSB: So Moses returned to the LORD and asked, “Lord, why have You brought trouble upon this people? Is this why You sent me?
23 UDB मैं राजा के पास गया और उससे वही कहा जो आपने मुझसे कहा था तब से उसने आपके लोगों के साथ और अधिक बुरा व्यवहार करना आरंभ कर दिया है। आपने उनकी सहायता करने के लिए अभी तक कुछ भी नहीं किया है।" BSB BSB: Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has brought trouble on this people, and You have not delivered Your people in any way.”
