2 UDB इन सभी राजाओं ने पाँच राजाओं के समूह पर हमला करने की तैयार की: सदोम के राजा बेरा, गमोरा के राजा बिर्शा, अदमा के राजा शिनाब, सबोयीम के राजा शेमेबेर तथा बेला, जो नगर सोअर भी कहा जाता है। BSB BSB: went to war against Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar).
3 UDB पाँच राजा और उनकी सेना सिद्दीम की घाटी में जिसे मृत सागर की घाटी भी कहा जाता है, चार राजाओं और उनकी सेनाओं से लड़ने के लिए इकट्ठा हुए। BSB BSB: The latter five came as allies to the Valley of Siddim (that is, the Salt Sea).
4 UDB बारह वर्षों तक राजा कदोर्लाओमेर ने उन पर शासन किया था लेकिन तेरहवें वर्ष वे सभी उसके विरुद्ध हो गए और उन्होंने कर देने से मना किया। BSB BSB: For twelve years they had been subject to Chedorlaomer, but in the thirteenth year they rebelled.
5 UDB अगले वर्ष, राजा कदोर्लाओमेर और उसके साथ के अन्य राजाओं ने अपनी सेनाएँ इकट्ठी कीं और पाँच राजाओं के क्षेत्र की ओर आने लगे। उन्होंने अशतरोत-कर्नयिम में रापाइयों को, हाम में जूजियों और एमी लोगों को शाबेकिर्यातैम में पराजित किया। BSB BSB: In the fourteenth year, Chedorlaomer and the kings allied with him went out and defeated the Rephaites in Ashteroth-karnaim, the Zuzites in Ham, the Emites in Shaveh-kiriathaim,
6 UDB उन्होंने होरी लोगों को सेईर के पहाड़ी प्रदेश से लेकर एल्पारान के निकट मरूभूमि में हराया था। BSB BSB: and the Horites in the area of Mount Seir, as far as El-paran, which is near the desert.
7 UDB तब वे पीछे को मुडे और एन्मिशपात गये, जिसे अब कादेश कहा जाता है। उन्होंने अमालेकी लोगों और एमोरी लोगों को जो हसासोन्तामार में रहते थे उन पर विजय प्राप्त की। BSB BSB: Then they turned back to invade En-mishpat (that is, Kadesh), and they conquered the whole territory of the Amalekites, as well as the Amorites who lived in Hazazon-tamar.
8 UDB तब सदोम, गमोरा, अदमा, सबोयीम और बेला के राजाओं की सेना सिद्दीम घाटी के चार राजाओं की सेनाओं से लड़ने के लिए बाहर निकली। BSB BSB: Then the king of Sodom, the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah, the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar) marched out and arrayed themselves for battle in the Valley of Siddim
9 UDB वे एलाम के राजा कदोर्लाओमेर की सेना, गोयीम के राजा तिदाल, शिनार के राजा अम्रापेल और एल्लासार के राजा अर्योक के विरुद्ध लड़े। चार राजाओं की सेना पाँच राजाओं की सेनाओं के विरुद्ध लड़ रही थी। BSB BSB: against Chedorlaomer king of Elam, Tidal king of Goiim, Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar—four kings against five.
10 UDB सिद्दिम की तराई में कोलतार के अनेक गड्ढ़े थे। तो जब सदोम और गमोरा की सेनाएँ इनके सामने से भागी तो बहुत से योद्धा उन गड़हो में गिर पड़े। अन्य सैनिक बच कर पहाड़ों पर भाग गए। BSB BSB: Now the Valley of Siddim was full of tar pits, and as the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, some men fell into the pits, but the survivors fled to the hill country.
11 UDB जब वे युद्ध क्षेत्र से भाग गए तब शत्रु की सेना ने सदोम और गमोरा की सब मूल्यवान वस्तुओं तथा खाद्य सामग्री को जब्त कर लिया। BSB BSB: The four kings seized all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their food, and they went on their way.
12 UDB उन्होंने अब्राम के भतीजे लूत को बन्दी बना लिया और उसकी संपत्ति पर भी कब्जा कर लिया क्योंकि लूत उस समय सदोम में रहता था। BSB BSB: They also carried off Abram’s nephew Lot and his possessions, since Lot was living in Sodom.
13 UDB उस समय अब्राम मेम्रे के बड़े वृक्षों के निकट रहता था। मेम्रे एमोरी कुल के थे। अब्राम ने मेम्रे और उसके दो भाइयों, एशकोल तथा आनेर के साथ प्रतिज्ञा की थी कि यदि युद्ध हुआ तो वे एक दूसरे की सहायता के लिए खड़े होंगे। युद्ध से बचकर आए एक व्यक्ति ने अब्राम को युद्ध का समाचार सुनाया कि शत्रु उसके भतीजे लूत को बन्दी बना कर ले गए हैं। अब्राम ने अपने 318 पुरूषों को अपने साथ लिया जो जन्म से ही उसके साथ थे और युद्ध करना जानते थे, उनको साथ लेकर अब्राम ने दान नगर तक शत्रुओं का पीछा किया। BSB BSB: Then an escapee came and reported this to Abram the Hebrew. Now Abram was living near the Oaks of Mamre the Amorite, a brother of Eshcol and Aner, all of whom were bound by treaty to Abram.
15 UDB रात के समय अब्राम ने अपने पुरूषों को अनेक दलों में विभाजित किया और विभिन्न दिशाओं से शत्रु की सेना पर धावा बोल दिया। और उन्हें हरा के दमिश्क के उत्तर में होबा तक उनका पीछा किया। BSB BSB: During the night, Abram divided his forces and routed Chedorlaomer’s army, pursuing them as far as Hobah, north of Damascus.
16 UDB अब्राम के पुरुषों ने शत्रुओं द्वारा चुराई गई सभी चीजों को वापस ले लिया। उन्होंने लूत और उसकी सारी संपत्ति और उसकी पत्नी और अन्य लोगों को छुड़ा लिया और वापस ले आया। BSB BSB: He retrieved all the goods, as well as his relative Lot and his possessions, together with the women and the rest of the people.
17 UDB जब अब्राम कदोर्लाओमेर और उसके साथ के राजाओं को पराजित करके घर लौट रहा था तब सदोम के राजा शाबे नाम की तराई में, जिसे वे राजा की तराई भी कहते थे, अब्राम से भेंट करने आया। BSB BSB: After Abram returned from defeating Chedorlaomer and the kings allied with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him in the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley).
18 UDB उसी समय शालेम का मलिकिसिदक जो परम प्रधान परमेश्वर का याजक था, अब्राम के लिए रोटी और दाखमधु लेकर आया। BSB BSB: Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine—since he was priest of God Most High—
19 UDB मलिकिसिदक ने अब्राम को आशीर्वाद दिया और कहा: "अब्राम, सबसे परम प्रधान परमेश्वर, जिस परमेश्वर ने पृथ्वी और आकाश को बनाया, वे तुझे आशीष दें। BSB BSB: and he blessed Abram and said: “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth,
20 UDB मैं उन परम प्रधान परमेश्वर की स्तुति करता हूँ क्योंकि उन्होंने तुझे इस योग्य बनाया कि तू शत्रु को पराजित कर सके।" तब अब्राम ने मलिकिसिदक को अपनी लूट का दसवां भाग अर्पित किया। BSB BSB: and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” Then Abram gave Melchizedek a tenth of everything.
21 UDB सदोम के राजा ने अब्राम से कहा, "जो कुछ भी छुड़ाया है सब रख ले। मात्र अपने नगर से उन लोगों को जिन्हें तूने बन्दी बनाया है, उन्हें वापस लेने दे।" BSB BSB: The king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the people, but take the goods for yourself.”
22 UDB परन्तु अब्राम ने सदोम के राजा से कहा, "मैंने ईमानदारी से यहोवा, परम प्रधान परमेश्वर, जिन्होंने स्वर्ग और पृथ्वी को बनाया है, उनके सम्मुख यह शपथ ली है; BSB BSB: But Abram replied to the king of Sodom, “I have raised my hand to the LORD God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth,
23 UDB कि जो कुछ तेरा है उसमें से मैं न तो एक सूत और न जूते का बंधन, कुछ भी नहीं लूंगा जिससे तू कभी न कह सके कि, "मैंने अब्राम को धनवान बनाया है।" BSB BSB: that I will not accept even a thread, or a strap of a sandal, or anything that belongs to you, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich.’
24 UDB केवल एक चीज जिसे मैं स्वीकार करूँगा वह है, भोजन जो मेरे युवकों ने खाया है। लेकिन आनेर, एशकोल और मेम्रे ने इस युद्ध में मेरा साथ दिया था, अतः लाए गए सामान का हिस्सेदार उन्हें बनने दे।" BSB BSB: I will accept nothing but what my men have eaten and the share for the men who went with me—Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre. They may take their portion.”
