1 UDB ऊज़ नाम के देश में, अय्यूब नाम का एक व्यक्ति था। उसने परमेश्वर की बातों का पालन किया और हमेशा बुराई करने से दूर रहा। BSB BSB: There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job. And this man was blameless and upright, fearing God and shunning evil.
2 UDB उसके सात पुत्र और तीन पुत्रियाँ थीं। BSB BSB: He had seven sons and three daughters,
3 UDB उसके पास सात हजार भेड़ें, तीन हजार ऊँट, एक हजार बैल, और पाँच सौ गधियाँ थे। उसके कई दास भी थे। वह व्यक्ति यरदन नदी के पूर्व के सम्पूर्ण क्षेत्र में सबसे अधिक धनवान था। BSB BSB: and he owned 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, 500 female donkeys, and a very large number of servants. Job was the greatest man of all the people of the East.
4 UDB अय्यूब के पुत्र प्रायः अपने घरों में भोज का आयोजन करते थे। जब भी उनमें से एक भोज का आयोजन करता, तब वह अपने सब भाइयों और बहनों को भोज में आने के लिए आमन्त्रित करता था। BSB BSB: Job’s sons would take turns holding feasts in their homes, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them.
5 UDB प्रत्येक उत्सव के बाद, अय्यूब उन्हें बुलाता था। वह यहोवा से प्रार्थना करता था कि उनसे कोई पाप हुआ या चूक हुई तो वह उन्हें क्षमा कर दे। वह सुबह भोर के समय ही उठकर जानवरों को मार कर, उन्हें वेदी पर उसकी प्रत्येक संतान के लिए बलि के रूप में जलाता था। क्योंकि अय्यूब ने हमेशा कहा, “संभव है कि मेरे बच्चों ने पाप किया और अपने हृदय में परमेश्वर के विषय में कुछ बुरा कहा हो।” BSB BSB: And when the days of feasting were over, Job would send for his children to purify them, rising early in the morning to offer burnt offerings for all of them. For Job thought, “Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular practice.
6 UDB एक दिन, स्वर्गदूत आए और यहोवा के सामने उपस्थित हुए, और शैतान भी आया। BSB BSB: One day the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came with them.
7 UDB यहोवा ने शैतान से पूछा, “तू अभी कहाँ से आ रहा है?” शैतान ने उत्तर दिया, “मैं पृथ्वी से आया हूँ, जहाँ मैं यह देखने के लिए इधर उधर घूम रहा था कि क्या हो रहा है।” BSB BSB: “Where have you come from?” said the LORD to Satan. “From roaming through the earth,” he replied, “and walking back and forth in it.”
8 UDB यहोवा ने शैतान से कहा, “क्या तू ने अय्यूब पर ध्यान दिया है, जो मेरी आराधना करता है? पृथ्वी पर कोई अन्य मुझे ऐसा सम्मान नहीं देता और न ही ऐसा धर्मी जीवन जीता है जैसा वह जीता है। वह सदा बुराई करने से इन्कार करता है।” BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one on earth like him, a man who is blameless and upright, who fears God and shuns evil.”
9 UDB शैतान ने यहोवा को उत्तर दिया, “जो कुछ आप कहते हैं वह सच है, परन्तु आपने अय्यूब के लिए जो किया है केवल उसके कारण वह आपका सम्मान करता है। BSB BSB: Satan answered the LORD, “Does Job fear God for nothing?
10 UDB आपने उसे, उसके परिवार को और जो कुछ भी उसके पास है उसे सदा सुरक्षित रखा है। वह जो भी कार्य करने का प्रयास करता है, आप उसे सफल बनाते हैं, और उसके पास उसके सारे देश में बहुत अधिक पशुधन है। BSB BSB: Have You not placed a hedge on every side around him and his household and all that he owns? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.
11 UDB परन्तु यदि जो कुछ भी उसके पास है आपने उस पर वार करके उससे छीन लिया, तो वह सबके सामने आपको श्राप देगा।” BSB BSB: But stretch out Your hand and strike all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face.”
12 UDB यहोवा ने शैतान से कहा, “सुन, जो कुछ उसका है, वह सब तेरे हाथ में है; केवल उसके शरीर पर हाथ न लगाना।” तब शैतान यहोवा के सामने से चला गया।” शैतान सहमत हो गया और फिर वह यह योजना बनाने के लिए यहोवा के पास से चला गया कि वह अय्यूब पर कैसे वार करे। BSB BSB: “Very well,” said the LORD to Satan. “Everything he has is in your hands, but you must not lay a hand on the man himself.” Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.
13 UDB उसके बाद एक दिन, अय्यूब के पुत्र और पुत्रियाँ अपने सबसे बड़े भाई के घर पर भोज कर रहे थे और दाखरस पी रहे थे। BSB BSB: One day, while Job’s sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,
14 UDB जब वे ऐसा कर रहे थे, तब एक सन्देशवाहक अय्यूब के घर पहुँचा और उससे कहा, “जब तेरे बैल खेतों में जुताई कर रहे थे और गधियाँ पास ही में चर रही थीं, BSB BSB: a messenger came and reported to Job: “While the oxen were plowing and the donkeys were grazing nearby,
15 UDB शेबा के पुरुषों का एक समूह आया और हम पर आक्रमण किया। उन्होंने तेरे सब दासों को मार डाला जो खेतों में कार्य कर रहे थे और सारे बैलों और गधों को ले गए! मैं अकेला ही बच कर आया हूँ कि तुझको इस घटना का समाचार दूँ।” BSB BSB: the Sabeans swooped down and took them away. They put the servants to the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you!”
16 UDB वह अभी अय्यूब से बात कर ही रहा था, एक और सन्देशवाहक आ पहुँचा। उसने अय्यूब से कहा, “आकाश से बिजली गिरी और सब भेड़ों को और उन सब पुरुषों को मार डाला जो उनकी देखभाल कर रहे थे! मैं अकेला ही बच कर आया हूँ कि तुझको इस घटना का समाचार दूँ।” BSB BSB: While he was still speaking, another messenger came and reported: “The fire of God fell from heaven. It burned and consumed the sheep and the servants, and I alone have escaped to tell you!”
17 UDB वह अभी अय्यूब से बात कर ही रहा था, कि तीसरा सन्देशवाहक आ पहुँचा। उसने अय्यूब से कहा, “कसदियों के क्षेत्र से लुटेरों के तीन दल आए और हम पर आक्रमण किया। उन्होंने सब ऊँटों को चुरा लिया और उन सब पुरुषों को मार डाला जो उनकी देखभाल कर रहे थे। मैं अकेला ही बच कर आया हूँ कि तुझको इस घटना का समाचार दूँ।” BSB BSB: While he was still speaking, another messenger came and reported: “The Chaldeans formed three bands, raided the camels, and took them away. They put the servants to the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you!”
18 UDB वह अभी अय्यूब से बात कर ही रहा था, कि चौथा सन्देशवाहक आ पहुँचा। उसने अय्यूब से कहा: “तेरे पुत्र और पुत्रियाँ अपने सबसे बड़े भाई के घर में भोज कर रहे थे। BSB BSB: While he was still speaking, another messenger came and reported: “Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,
19 UDB अकस्मात ही एक बहुत तेज हवा रेगिस्तान से आकर घर पर लगी। वह घर तेरे पुत्रों और पुत्रियों पर गिर गया और उन सबकी मृत्यु हो गई! मैं अकेला ही बच कर आया हूँ कि तुझको इस घटना का समाचार दूँ।” BSB BSB: when suddenly a mighty wind swept in from the desert and struck the four corners of the house. It collapsed on the young people and they are dead, and I alone have escaped to tell you!”
20 UDB तब अय्यूब खड़ा हुआ और अपना वस्त्र फाड़ा और अपने सिर को मुँड़वाया क्योंकि वह बहुत दुखी था। फिर वह परमेश्वर की आराधना करने के लिए भूमि पर गिर गया। BSB BSB: Then Job stood up, tore his robe, and shaved his head. He fell to the ground and worshiped,
21 UDB उसने कहा, “जब मेरा जन्म हुआ, मैं कोई कपड़े नहीं पहने हुए था। जब मैं मर जाऊँगा, मैं अपने साथ कोई कपड़े नहीं ले जाऊँगा। यह यहोवा ही है जिन्होंने मुझे वह सब कुछ दिया है जो मेरे पास है, और यह यहोवा ही है जिन्होंने वह सब कुछ ले लिया है। परन्तु हमें सदा यहोवा की स्तुति करनी चाहिए!” BSB BSB: saying: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the name of the LORD.”
22 UDB इसलिए अय्यूब के साथ हुई सब बातों के उपरान्त, उसने मूर्ख व्यक्ति के समान बात नहीं की—उसने यह कहकर पाप नहीं किया कि परमेश्वर ने जो किया है वह गलत था। BSB BSB: In all this, Job did not sin or charge God with wrongdoing.
