2 UDB "बारह पुरुष चुनो, हर एक गोत्र में से एक, और उनको यरदन के सूखे तल से जहाँ याजक खड़े है; बारह बड़े बड़े पत्थर उठाने की आज्ञा दे। BSB BSB: “Choose twelve men from among the people, one from each tribe,
3 UDB उन पत्थरों को उस जगह पर रख जहाँ तुम आज रात रहोगे।" BSB BSB: and command them: ‘Take up for yourselves twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan where the priests were standing, carry them with you, and set them down in the place where you spend the night.’”
4 UDB तब यहोशू ने बारह पुरुष चुने, हर एक गोत्र में से एक। यहोशू ने उन्हें एक साथ बुलाया BSB BSB: So Joshua summoned the twelve men he had appointed from the Israelites, one from each tribe,
5 UDB और उनसे कहा, "यरदन नदी के तल के बीच में जाओ और उस स्थान पर जहाँ तुम्हारे परमेश्वर यहोवा का पवित्र सन्दूक लिए याजक खड़े हैं एक-एक बड़ा पत्थर कंधे पर उठा कर ले आओ, हर एक गोत्र के लिए एक,– इस्राएलियों के बारह गोत्रों के लिए बारह पत्थर। BSB BSB: and said to them, “Cross over before the ark of the LORD your God into the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take a stone upon his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of Israel,
6 UDB ये पत्थर तुम लोगों के लिए स्मारक होंगे। भविष्य में, तुम्हारे बच्चे पूछेंगे, 'इन पत्थरों का क्या अर्थ है?' BSB BSB: to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’
7 UDB उनसे कहना कि यहोवा ने हमें जो पवित्र सन्दूक दिया था उसे उठाकर याजक यरदन में उतरे तो नदी के पानी का बहना रुक गया था। ज्यों ही सन्दूक नदी में लाया गया त्यों ही पानी का बहाव रुक गया कि हम नदी के सूखे तल में से होकर पार हो गए थे। इन पत्थरों को हम ने यहाँ रख दिया था कि यह स्थान हमें सदा स्मरण कराता रहे कि परमेश्वर ने इस्राएलियों के लिए क्या किया था।" BSB BSB: you are to tell them, ‘The waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters were cut off.’ Therefore these stones will be a memorial to the Israelites forever.”
8 UDB तब इस्राएलियों ने वह सब किया जिसकी आज्ञा यहोशू ने उन्हें दी थी। वे गए और यरदन नदी के तल के बीच से बारह बड़े-बड़े पत्थर उठा लिए, हर एक इस्राएली गोत्र के लिए एक पत्थर, जैसा यहोवा ने यहोशू से कहा था, और वे उन पत्थरों को वहाँ ले गए जहाँ वे रह रहे थे, और उन्होंने पत्थरों को वहाँ रख दिया। BSB BSB: Thus the Israelites did as Joshua had commanded them. They took up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, one for each tribe of Israel, just as the LORD had told Joshua; and they carried them to the camp, where they set them down.
9 UDB तब यहोशू ने बारह अन्य पत्थरों को लिया और उन्हें यरदन नदी के बीच में खड़ा कर दिया, जहाँ याजक यहोवा के पवित्र सन्दूक को उठाकर खड़े थे और वह स्मारक आज इस दिन भी वहाँ है। BSB BSB: Joshua also set up twelve stones in the middle of the Jordan, in the place where the priests who carried the ark of the covenant stood. And the stones are there to this day.
10 UDB सन्दूक को उठाकर याजक यहोशू को दी गई परमेश्वर की आज्ञा के अनुसार यरदन नदी के बीच में खड़े रहे जब तक कि लोगों ने नदी पार नहीं कर ली। यह ठीक वैसा ही था जैसा मूसा ने यहोशू को करने का आदेश दिया था। लोगों ने नदी को शीघ्र ही पार किया। BSB BSB: Now the priests who carried the ark remained standing in the middle of the Jordan until the people had completed everything the LORD had commanded Joshua to tell them, just as Moses had directed Joshua. The people hurried across,
11 UDB जैसे ही सब लोगों ने नदी को पार किया और यहोवा के पवित्र सन्दूक को उठानेवाले याजक भी पार चले गए। वहाँ उपस्थित सब लोग देख रहे थे। BSB BSB: and after everyone had finished crossing, the priests with the ark of the LORD crossed in the sight of the people.
12 UDB रूबेन और गाद के गोत्र के सैनिक और मनश्शे के गोत्र के आधे सैनिक पार होकर शेष इस्राएलियों से आगे निकल गए। जैसा कि मूसा ने उन्हें आदेश दिया था, वे एक सेना के रूप में आगे बढ़ गए। BSB BSB: The Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh crossed over before the Israelites, armed for battle as Moses had instructed them.
13 UDB लगभग 40 हजार लोग यहोवा के सामने चल रहे थे। ये लोग हथियार लिए हुए थे और युद्ध के लिए तैयार थे, और वे यरीहो के मैदानी क्षेत्र की ओर जा रहे थे जहाँ वे युद्ध करेंगे। BSB BSB: About 40,000 troops armed for battle crossed over before the LORD into the plains of Jericho.
14 UDB उस दिन, इस्राएलियों ने देखा कि यहोवा ने यहोशू को एक महान अगुवा बना दिया था। और उन्होंने यहोशू के जीवन भर उसका सम्मान किया- ठीक वैसे ही जैसे उन्होंने मूसा का सम्मान किया था। BSB BSB: On that day the LORD exalted Joshua in the sight of all Israel, and they revered him all the days of his life, just as they had revered Moses.
15 UDB यहोवा ने यहोशू से कहा, BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Joshua,
16 UDB "अब पवित्र सन्दूक को उठानेवाले याजकों को आदेश दे कि वे सूखी यरदन नदी के तल से बाहर निकल आएँ।" BSB BSB: “Command the priests who carry the ark of the Testimony to come up from the Jordan.”
17 UDB तब यहोशू ने पुजारियों को नदी से बाहर आने का आदेश दिया। BSB BSB: So Joshua commanded the priests, “Come up from the Jordan.”
18 UDB तब यहोवा द्वारा मूसा को दी गई दस आज्ञाओं के पवित्र सन्दूक को उठानेवाले याजक नदी के तल से बाहर निकल आए। और जैसे ही वे नदी के तल से बाहर निकले, यरदन नदी का पानी बहने लगा, और नदी फिर से भर गई, जैसी वह चार दिन पहले थी। BSB BSB: When the priests carrying the ark of the covenant of the LORD came up out of the Jordan and their feet touched the dry land, the waters of the Jordan returned to their course and overflowed all the banks as before.
19 UDB उस वर्ष के पहले महीने के दसवें दिन उन लोगों ने यरदन नदी को पार किया था और उन्होंने गिलगाल नामक एक स्थान पर छावनी डाली (जो यरीहो शहर के पूर्व में है)। BSB BSB: On the tenth day of the first month the people went up from the Jordan and camped at Gilgal on the eastern border of Jericho.
20 UDB यहोशू ने उन बड़े पत्थरों को गिलगाल में रखा। BSB BSB: And there at Gilgal Joshua set up the twelve stones they had taken from the Jordan.
21 UDB उसने इस्राएल के लोगों से कहा, "भविष्य में, तुम्हारे वंशज पूछेंगे, 'ये पत्थर यहाँ क्यों हैं?' BSB BSB: Then Joshua said to the Israelites, “In the future, when your children ask their fathers, ‘What is the meaning of these stones?’
22 UDB उन्हें बताना कि, 'यह वह स्थान है जहाँ इस्राएलियों ने यरदन नदी को उसके सूखे तल पर पार किया था।' BSB BSB: you are to tell them, ‘Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.’
23 UDB तुम्हारे परमेश्वर, यहोवा ने, नदी को सुखा दिया कि तुम सब उसके पार हो जाओ। जिस परमेश्वर यहोवा की तुम उपासना करते हो, उसने यरदन नदी के साथ भी ठीक वैसा ही किया जैसा उसने लाल समुद्र के साथ किया था, कि हम सब के पार हो जाने तक उसने उसे सुखा रखा ठीक वैसा ही जैसा उसने यहाँ किया है। BSB BSB: For the LORD your God dried up the waters of the Jordan before you until you had crossed over, just as He did to the Red Sea, which He dried up before us until we had crossed over.
24 UDB यहोवा ने ऐसा इसलिए किया कि पृथ्वी के सब लोग जान सकें कि वह महा शक्तिशाली है, और तुम उसे उसके योग्य सम्मान दो।" BSB BSB: He did this so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the LORD is mighty, and so that you may always fear the LORD your God.”
