1जिनको बाबेल का राजा नबूकदनेस्सर बाबेल को बन्दी बनाकर ले गया था, उनमें से प्रान्त* के जो लोग बँधुआई से छूटकर यरूशलेम और यहूदा को अपने-अपने नगर में लौटे वे ये हैं।Now these are the people of the province who came up from the captivity of the exiles carried away to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar its king. They returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his own town,

2ये जरुब्बाबेल, येशुअ, नहेम्याह, सरायाह, रेलायाह, मोर्दकै, बिलशान, मिस्पार, बिगवै, रहूम और बानाह के साथ आए। इस्राएली प्रजा के मनुष्यों* की गिनती यह है: अर्थात्accompanied by Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispar, Bigvai, Rehum, and Baanah. This is the count of the men of Israel:

3परोश की सन्तान दो हजार एक सौ बहत्तर,the descendants of Parosh, 2,172;

4शपत्याह की सन्तान तीन सौ बहत्तर,the descendants of Shephatiah, 372;

5आरह की सन्तान सात सौ पचहत्तर,the descendants of Arah, 775;

6पहत्मोआब की सन्तान येशुअ और योआब की सन्तान में से दो हजार आठ सौ बारह,the descendants of Pahath-moab (through the line of Jeshua and Joab), 2,812;

7एलाम की सन्तान बारह सौ चौवन,the descendants of Elam, 1,254;

8जत्तू की सन्तान नौ सौ पैंतालीस,the descendants of Zattu, 945;

9जक्कई की सन्तान सात सौ साठ,the descendants of Zaccai, 760;

10बानी की सन्तान छः सौ बयालीसthe descendants of Bani, 642;

11बेबै की सन्तान छः सौ तेईस,the descendants of Bebai, 623;

12अजगाद की सन्तान बारह सौ बाईस,the descendants of Azgad, 1,222;

13अदोनीकाम की सन्तान छः सौ छियासठ,the descendants of Adonikam, 666;

14बिगवै की सन्तान दो हजार छप्पन,the descendants of Bigvai, 2,056;

15आदीन की सन्तान चार सौ चौवन,the descendants of Adin, 454;

16हिजकिय्याह की सन्तान आतेर की सन्तान में से अठानवे,the descendants of Ater (through Hezekiah), 98;

17बेसै की सन्तान तीन सौ तेईस,the descendants of Bezai, 323;

18योरा के लोग एक सौ बारह,the descendants of Jorah, 112;

19हाशूम के लोग दो सौ तेईस,the descendants of Hashum, 223;

20गिब्बार के लोग पंचानबे,the descendants of Gibbar, 95;

21बैतलहम के लोग एक सौ तेईस,the men of Bethlehem, 123;

22नतोपा के मनुष्य छप्पन;the men of Netophah, 56;

23अनातोत के मनुष्य एक सौ अट्ठाईस,the men of Anathoth, 128;

24अज्मावेत के लोग बयालीस,the descendants of Azmaveth, 42;

25किर्यत्यारीम कपीरा और बेरोत के लोग सात सौ तैंतालीस,the men of Kiriath-jearim, Chephirah, and Beeroth, 743;

26रामाह और गेबा के लोग छः सौ इक्कीस,the men of Ramah and Geba, 621;

27मिकमाश के मनुष्य एक सौ बाईस,the men of Michmash, 122;

28बेतेल और आई के मनुष्य दो सौ तेईस,the men of Bethel and Ai, 223;

29नबो के लोग बावन,the descendants of Nebo, 52;

30मग्बीस की सन्तान एक सौ छप्पन,the descendants of Magbish, 156;

31दूसरे एलाम की सन्तान बारह सौ चौवन,the descendants of the other Elam, 1,254;

32हारीम की सन्तान तीन सौ बीस,the descendants of Harim, 320;

33लोद, हादीद और ओनो के लोग सात सौ पच्चीस,the men of Lod, Hadid, and Ono, 725;

34यरीहो के लोग तीन सौ पैंतालीस,the men of Jericho, 345;

35सना के लोग तीन हजार छः सौ तीस।and the descendants of Senaah, 3,630.

36फिर याजकों अर्थात् येशुअ के घराने में से यदायाह की सन्तान नौ सौ तिहत्तर,The priests: The descendants of Jedaiah (through the house of Jeshua), 973;

37इम्मेर की सन्तान एक हजार बावन,the descendants of Immer, 1,052;

38पशहूर की सन्तान बारह सौ सैंतालीस,the descendants of Pashhur, 1,247;

39हारीम की सन्तान एक हजार सत्रहand the descendants of Harim, 1,017.

40फिर लेवीय, अर्थात् येशुअ की सन्तान और कदमीएल की सन्तान होदव्याह की सन्तान में से चौहत्तर।The Levites: the descendants of Jeshua and Kadmiel (through the line of Hodaviah), 74.

41फिर गवैयों में से आसाप की सन्तान एक सौ अट्ठाईस।The singers: the descendants of Asaph, 128.

42फिर दरबानों की सन्तान, शल्लूम की सन्तान, आतेर की सन्तान, तल्मोन की सन्तान, अक्कूब की सन्तान, हतीता की सन्तान, और शोबै की सन्तान, ये सब मिलाकर एक सौ उनतालीस हुए।The gatekeepers: the descendants of Shallum, the descendants of Ater, the descendants of Talmon, the descendants of Akkub, the descendants of Hatita, and the descendants of Shobai, 139 in all.

43फिर नतीन की सन्तान, सीहा की सन्तान, हसूपा की सन्तान, तब्बाओत की सन्तान।The temple servants: the descendants of Ziha, the descendants of Hasupha, the descendants of Tabbaoth,

44केरोस की सन्तान, सीअहा की सन्तान, पादोन की सन्तान,the descendants of Keros, the descendants of Siaha, the descendants of Padon,

45लबाना की सन्तान, हगाबा की सन्तान, अक्कूब की सन्तान,the descendants of Lebanah, the descendants of Hagabah, the descendants of Akkub,

46हागाब की सन्तान, शल्मै की सन्तान, हानान की सन्तान,the descendants of Hagab, the descendants of Shalmai, the descendants of Hanan,

47गिद्देल की सन्तान, गहर की सन्तान, रायाह की सन्तान,the descendants of Giddel, the descendants of Gahar, the descendants of Reaiah,

48रसीन की सन्तान, नकोदा की सन्तान, गज्जाम की सन्तान,the descendants of Rezin, the descendants of Nekoda, the descendants of Gazzam,

49उज्जा की सन्तान, पासेह की सन्तान, बेसै की सन्तान,the descendants of Uzza, the descendants of Paseah, the descendants of Besai,

50अस्ना की सन्तान, मूनीम की सन्तान, नपीसीम की सन्तान,the descendants of Asnah, the descendants of Meunim, the descendants of Nephusim,

51बकबूक की सन्तान, हकूपा की सन्तान, हर्हूर की सन्तान।the descendants of Bakbuk, the descendants of Hakupha, the descendants of Harhur,

52बसलूत की सन्तान, महीदा की सन्तान, हर्शा की सन्तान,the descendants of Bazluth, the descendants of Mehida, the descendants of Harsha,

53बर्कोस की सन्तान, सीसरा की सन्तान, तेमह की सन्तान,the descendants of Barkos, the descendants of Sisera, the descendants of Temah,

54नसीह की सन्तान, और हतीपा की सन्तान।the descendants of Neziah, and the descendants of Hatipha.

55फिर सुलैमान के दासों की सन्तान, सोतै की सन्तान, हस्सोपेरेत की सन्तान, परूदा की सन्तान,The descendants of the servants of Solomon: the descendants of Sotai, the descendants of Hassophereth, the descendants of Peruda,

56याला की सन्तान, दर्कोन की सन्तान, गिद्देल की सन्तान,the descendants of Jaala, the descendants of Darkon, the descendants of Giddel,

57शपत्याह की सन्तान, हत्तील की सन्तान, पोकरेत-सबायीम की सन्तान, और आमी की सन्तान।the descendants of Shephatiah, the descendants of Hattil, the descendants of Pochereth-hazzebaim, and the descendants of Ami.

58सब नतीन और सुलैमान के दासों की सन्तान, तीन सौ बानवे थे।The temple servants and descendants of the servants of Solomon numbered 392 in all.

59फिर जो तेल्मेलाह, तेलहर्शा, करूब, अद्दान और इम्मेर से आए, परन्तु वे अपने-अपने पितरों के घराने और वंशावली न बता सके कि वे इस्राएल के हैं, वे ये हैं:The following came up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addan, and Immer, but they could not prove that their families were descended from Israel:

60अर्थात् दलायाह की सन्तान, तोबियाह की सन्तान और नकोदा की सन्तान, जो मिलकर छः सौ बावन थे।the descendants of Delaiah, the descendants of Tobiah, and the descendants of Nekoda, 652 in all.

61याजकों की सन्तान में से होबायाह की सन्तान, हक्कोस की सन्तान और बर्जिल्लै की सन्तान, जिस ने गिलादी बर्जिल्लै की एक बेटी को ब्याह लिया और उसी का नाम रख लिया था।And from among the priests: the descendants of Hobaiah, the descendants of Hakkoz, and the descendants of Barzillai (who had married a daughter of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by their name).

62इन सभी ने अपनी-अपनी वंशावली का पत्र औरों की वंशावली की पोथियों में ढूँढ़ा, परन्तु वे न मिले, इसलिए वे अशुद्ध ठहराकर याजकपद से निकाले गए।These men searched for their family records, but they could not find them and so were excluded from the priesthood as unclean.

63और अधिपति ने उनसे कहा, कि जब तक ऊरीम और तुम्मीम धारण करनेवाला कोई याजक* न हो, तब तक कोई परमपवित्र वस्तु खाने न पाए।The governor ordered them not to eat the most holy things until there was a priest to consult the Urim and Thummim.

64समस्त मण्डली मिलकर बयालीस हजार तीन सौ साठ की थी।The whole assembly numbered 42,360,

65इनको छोड़ इनके सात हजार तीन सौ सैंतीस दास-दासियाँ और दो सौ गानेवाले और गानेवालियाँ थीं।in addition to their 7,337 menservants and maidservants, as well as their 200 male and female singers.

66उनके घोड़े सात सौ छत्तीस, खच्चर दो सौ पैंतालीस, ऊँट चार सौ पैंतीस,They had 736 horses, 245 mules,

67और गदहे छः हजार सात सौ बीस थे।435 camels, and 6,720 donkeys.

68पितरों के घरानों के कुछ मुख्य-मुख्य पुरुषों ने जब यहोवा के भवन को जो यरूशलेम में है, आए, तब परमेश्‍वर के भवन को उसी के स्थान पर खड़ा करने के लिये अपनी-अपनी इच्छा से कुछ दिया।When they arrived at the house of the LORD in Jerusalem, some of the heads of the families gave freewill offerings to rebuild the house of God on its original site.

69उन्होंने अपनी-अपनी पूँजी के अनुसार इकसठ हजार दर्कमोन सोना और पाँच हजार माने चाँदी और याजकों के योग्य एक सौ अंगरखे अपनी-अपनी इच्छा से उस काम के खजाने में दे दिए।According to their ability, they gave to the treasury for this work 61,000 darics of gold, 5,000 minas of silver, and 100 priestly garments.

70तब याजक और लेवीय और लोगों में से कुछ और गवैये और द्वारपाल और नतीन लोग अपने नगर में और सब इस्राएली अपने-अपने नगर में फिर बस गए।So the priests, the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the temple servants, along with some of the people, settled in their own towns; and the rest of the Israelites settled in their towns.
