1. 1ULBSaudara-saudara terkasih, janganlah percaya kepada setiap roh, tetapi ujilah roh-roh tersebut untuk memastikan apakah roh itu berasal dari Allah, karena banyak nabi palsu telah muncul di dunia.BSBBSB: Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world.
2. 2ULBdengan inilah kamu mengenal Roh Allah: setiap roh yang mengaku bawha Yesus Kristus ketika datang dalam wujud manusia ia berasal dari Allah,BSBBSB: By this you will know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
3. 3ULBdan setiap roh yang tidak mengakui Yesus bukan dari Allah. Itulah roh antikristus, yang telah kalian dengar akan kedatangannya, dan yang sekarang telah berada di dunia.BSBBSB: and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. 5. 5ULBMereka sendiri berasal dari dunia, dengan demikian apa yang mereka katakan adalah berasal dari dunia, dan dunia mendengarkan mereka.BSBBSB: They are of the world. That is why they speak from the world’s perspective, and the world listens to them.
6. 6ULBKita berasal dari Allah. Siapapun yang mengenal Allah ia mendengarkan kita. Siapa yang tidak berasal dari Allah ia tidak mendengarkan kita. Dengan inilah kita mengetahui roh kebenaran dan roh kesesatan.BSBBSB: We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. That is how we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of deception.
7. 7ULBSaudara-saudara yang terkasih, marilah kita saling mangasihi, karena kasih berasal dari Allah, dan barang siapa yang memiliki kasih lahir dari Allah dan mengenal Allah.BSBBSB: Beloved, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
8. 8ULBOrang yang tidak mengenal kasih tidak mengenal Allah, karena Allah adalah kasih.BSBBSB: Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
9. 9ULBDalam hal inilah kasih Allah dinyatakan di dalam kita, bahwa Allah telah mengutus PutraNya yang tunggal ke dunia supaya kita bisa hidup melalui Dia.BSBBSB: This is how God’s love was revealed among us: God sent His one and only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him.
10. 10ULBDalam hal ini, kasih itu bukanlah karena kita telah mengasihi Allah, melainkan karena Ia sendiri telah mengasihi kita, dan telah mengutus PutraNya sebagai perdamaian bagi dosa-dosa kita.BSBBSB: And love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins.
11. 11ULBJika Allah telah mengasihi kita, kita juga wajib mengasihi seorang terhadap orang lain.BSBBSB: Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
12. 12ULBtidak seorang pun pernah melihat Allah. jika kita mengasihi seorang terhadap yang lain, Allah tetap tinggal di dalam kita dan kasihNya telah disempurnakan di dalam kita.BSBBSB: No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God remains in us, and His love is perfected in us.
13. 13ULBKarena itulah kita tahu bahwa kita tetap tinggal di dalam Dia dan Ia di dalam kita, karena Ia telah menganugerahkan RohNya kepada kita.BSBBSB: By this we know that we remain in Him, and He in us: He has given us of His Spirit.
14. 14ULBJuga, kita telah lihat dan bersaksi bahwa Bapak telah mengutus Putra untuk menjadi Juruselamat dunia.BSBBSB: And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent His Son to be the Savior of the world.
15. 15ULBBarang siapa yang mengaku bahwa Yesus adalah Putra Allah, maka Allah tetap tinggal di dalamnya dan ia di dalam Allah.BSBBSB: If anyone confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
16. 16ULBJuga, kita telah mengenal dan telah percaya akan kasih Allah yang ada pada kita. Allah adalah kasih, dan ia yang tinggal di dalam kasih, maka dia tetap tinggal di dalam Allah dan Allah di dalam dia.BSBBSB: And we have come to know and believe the love that God has for us. God is love; whoever abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
17. 17ULBDalam inilah Kasih telah disempurnakan bersama kita, supaya kita dapat memiliki keberanian untuk menghadapi hari penghakiman, karena sebagaimana Ia itu ada, kita juga ada di dalam dunia ini.BSBBSB: In this way, love has been perfected among us, so that we may have confidence on the day of judgment; for in this world we are just like Him.
18. 18ULBDi dalam kasih tidak ada ketakutan. sebaliknya, kasih yang sempurna membuang keluar ketakutan, karena ketakutan mengandung hukuman. Tetapi siapa yang takut ia belum disempurnakan di dalam kasih.BSBBSB: There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. The one who fears has not been perfected in love.
19. 19ULBKita mengasihi Dia karena Allah lebih dahulu mengasihi kita.BSBBSB: We love because He first loved us.
20. 20ULBBarang siapa yang berkata, "aku mengasihi Allah" tetapi membenci saudaranya seiman, ia adalah pendusta. Karena ia yang tidak mengasihi saudaranya seiman yang dilihatnya, tidak mungkin untuk mangasihi Allah yang belum pernah dilihatnya.BSBBSB: If anyone says, “I love God,” but hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.
21. 21ULBJuga, Inilah perintah dari Dia: Siapapun yang mengasihi Allah, juga harus mengasihi saudaranya seiman.BSBBSB: And we have this commandment from Him: Whoever loves God must love his brother as well.
