1. 1IKZTʉrabharaganʼya ɨngʼana igʉrʉ wa wʉnʉ akubhirikirwa Ɨngʼana yʉ ʉbhʉhʉru, wʉnʉ aareho kurwa ʉbhʉtangɨ. Itwɨ tʉkamwigwa na komorora na amɨɨsʉ gɨɨtʉ, tʉkamorora na kʉbhaabhaata na amabhoko gɨɨtʉ.BSBBSB: That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our own eyes, which we have gazed upon and touched with our own hands—this is the Word of life.
2. 2IKZɄbhʉhʉru bhuyo bhʉkarorekana, na niitwɨ tʉkabhorora. Nangʉ tʉrabhamenyeekererya na kʉbharaganʼya ɨngʼana igʉrʉ wa wʉnʉ nɨ‑bhʉhʉru bhwa kemerano. Ewe aarɨ kwa Bhaabha Mungu, akarorekana kwa niitwɨ.BSBBSB: And this is the life that was revealed; we have seen it and testified to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us.
3. 3IKZTʉkamorora na kumwigwa, nangʉ tʉrabharaganʼya ɨngʼana igʉrʉ waazɨ, korereke mʉbhɨ ni ikigwatani na niitwɨ mubhwisirirya. Ikigwatani kɨnʉ tʉnachʉ nɨ‑hamwɨmwɨ na Bhaabha Mungu, nu Umwana waazɨ Yɨɨsu Kiriisitʉ.BSBBSB: We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And this fellowship of ours is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ.
4. 4IKZTʉrabhaandɨkɨra ganʉ, korereke obhozomerwa bhwɨtʉ bhuhikɨ.BSBBSB: We write these things so that our joy may be complete.
5. 5IKZMmbe, amangʼana ganʉ twigwirɨ kurwa kwa Yɨɨsu Kiriisitʉ, nego tʉkʉbharwazɨra, Mungu ni‑bhwɨrʉ, ataana ikiirimya chʉchʉsi mʉʉsi waazɨ.BSBBSB: And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you: God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.
6. 6IKZArɨɨbhɨ tʉrabhuga tuni ikigwatani na Mungu, ɨnʉ tʉrakaja kwikara mukiirimya, tʉragamba ʉrʉrɨmɨ, na tʉtakokora eheene.BSBBSB: If we say we have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
7. 7IKZNawe, arɨɨbhɨ turiikara mubhwɨrʉ, chɨmbu Mungu arɨ mubhwɨrʉ, tʉrabha ni ikigwatani itubheene kobheene. Na amasaahɨ gu Umwana waazɨ Yɨɨsu garabhɨngukya ʉbhʉbhɨ bhwɨtʉ bhwʉsi.BSBBSB: But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
8. 8IKZArɨɨbhɨ tʉrabhuga kʉbha itwɨ tʉtaana ʉbhʉbhɨ bhwʉbhwʉsi, turiikangirirya itubheene, ne eheene ɨtarɨ kwa niitwɨ.BSBBSB: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9. 9IKZNawe, arɨɨbhɨ tʉraatigɨ ʉbhʉbhɨ bhwɨtʉ, Mungu aratobheerera ʉbhʉbhɨ bhwɨtʉ na kʉtʉbhɨngukya ʉbhʉbhɨ bhwʉsi, kʉ kʉbha ewe, ne‑moheene na we eheene.BSBBSB: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10. 10IKZTuriibhugɨ tʉkɨɨrɨ kokora ʉbhʉbhɨ, tʉrakora Mungu mʉbhɨɨhi, na twangirɨ ringʼana ryazɨ kɨmwɨ.BSBBSB: If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us.
