ISL316
BSB
BSB:
Then Jesus began to speak to them in parables:
“A man planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a wine vat, and built a watchtower. Then he rented it out to some tenants and went away on a journey.
2
ISL316
Eftir uppskerutímann sendi hann þjón sinn til umsjónarmannanna til að sækja uppskeru víngarðsins.
BSB
BSB:
At harvest time, he sent a servant to the tenants to collect his share of the fruit of the vineyard.
3
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
But they seized the servant, beat him, and sent him away empty-handed.
4
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
Then he sent them another servant, and they struck him over the head and treated him shamefully.
5
ISL316
Eigandinn sendi þá fleiri þjóna til þeirra, en umsjónarmennirnir drápu eða börðu þá alla.
BSB
BSB:
He sent still another, and this one they killed. He sent many others; some they beat and others they killed.
6
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
Finally, having one beloved son, he sent him to them. ‘They will respect my son,’ he said.
7
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
But the tenants said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’
8
ISL316
Og þeir tóku soninn, drápu hann og hentu honum út úr víngarðinum.
BSB
BSB:
So they seized the son, killed him, and threw him out of the vineyard.
9
ISL316
Hvað gerir eigandi víngarðsins þá eiginlega? Jú, hann kemur og eyðir umsjónarmönnunum og gefur einhverjum öðrum víngarðinn.
BSB
BSB:
What then will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others.
10
ISL316
Í ritningunni stendur: „Steinninn sem smiðirnir höfnuðu verður hornsteinn byggingarinnar.
BSB
BSB:
Have you never read this Scripture: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
11
ISL316
Mikið er þetta stórkostlegt verk Drottins!““
BSB
BSB:
This is from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?”
12
ISL316
Æðstuprestarnir, lögmálskennararnir og öldungarnir vissu að með þessari dæmisögu var Jesús að tala um þá. Þeir hefðu viljað handtaka hann, en voru hræddir um að fólkið myndi bregðast illa við því og strunsuðu þess vegna út
BSB
BSB:
At this, the leaders sought to arrest Jesus, for they knew that He had spoken this parable against them. But fearing the crowd, they left Him and went away.
13
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
Later, they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to catch Jesus in His words.
14
ISL316
„Kennari,“ sögðu þeir við hann, „við sjáum hvað þú ert heiðarlegur og staðfastur. Þú lætur ekki skoðanir mannanna hafa áhrif á þig, heldur kennir sannleik Guðs. Hvort er löglegt eða ólöglegt að borga skatt til keisarans? Ættum við að gera það eða ekki?“
BSB
BSB:
“Teacher,” they said, “we know that You are honest and seek favor from no one. Indeed, You are impartial and teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay them or not?”
15
ISL316
En Jesús vissi á hvaða hræsni þeir byggðu þessa spurningu. „Af hverju eruð þið að reyna að ná mér svona?“ spurði hann þá. „Komið með pening til mín.“
BSB
BSB:
But Jesus saw through their hypocrisy and said,
“Why are you testing Me? Bring Me a denarius to inspect.”
16
ISL316
Þeir réttu honum pening. „Hver er á myndinni á peningnum?“ spurði Jesús. „Hvaða nafn stendur á honum?“ „Það er keisarinn,“ svöruðu þeir.
BSB
BSB:
So they brought it, and He asked them,
“Whose image is this? And whose inscription?”
“Caesar’s,” they answered.
17
ISL316
„Gefið þá keisaranum það sem er merkt honum,“ sagði Jesús, „og Guði það sem er merkt Guði.“ Og við þessu gátu þeir ekkert sagt.
BSB
BSB:
Then Jesus told them,
“Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”
And they marveled at Him.
18
ISL316
Síðan komu saddúkearnir (sem trúa ekki á upprisuna) til Jesú.
BSB
BSB:
Then the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus and questioned Him:
19
ISL316
„Kennari,“ spurðu þeir hann, „Móse skrifaði að ef maður á bróður sem deyr og skilur eftir sig eiginkonu, en engin börn, eigi hann að giftast eiginkonu bróður síns og eignast með henni börn svo fjölskylda bróðurins lifi áfram.
BSB
BSB:
“Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man is to marry his brother’s widow and raise up offspring for him.
20
ISL316
Segjum að það séu sjö bræður. Sá fyrsti giftir sig en deyr barnlaus.
BSB
BSB:
Now there were seven brothers. The first one married and died, leaving no children.
21
ISL316
Næsti bróðir giftist síðan eiginkonunni hans, en hann deyr líka barnlaus, og þriðji bróðirinn líka.
BSB
BSB:
Then the second one married the widow, but he also died and left no children. And the third did likewise.
22
ISL316
Þeir giftast henni allir sjö en enginn þeirra eignast börn með henni. Að lokum deyr eiginkonan sjálf líka.
BSB
BSB:
In this way, none of the seven left any children. And last of all, the woman died.
23
ISL316
Spurningin er: Þegar þau rísa öll upp í upprisunni, hver verður þá eiginmaður konunnar? Því allir bræðurnir sjö voru giftir henni.“
BSB
BSB:
In the resurrection, then, whose wife will she be? For all seven were married to her.”
24
ISL316
„Ég held að ástæðan fyrir því að þið misskiljið þetta,“ svaraði Jesús, „sé að þið þekkið hvorki ritninguna né mátt Guðs.
BSB
BSB:
Jesus said to them,
“Aren’t you mistaken, because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God?
25
ISL316
Eftir upprisuna mun fólk hvorki vera gift né gifta sig, heldur lifa eins og englar á himnum.
BSB
BSB:
When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage. Instead, they will be like the angels in heaven.
26
ISL316
Og talandi um upprisuna – hafið þið ekki lesið í Mósebókunum um það sem Guð sagði við Móse úr þyrnirunnanum: „Ég er Guð Abrahams, Guð Ísaks og Guð Jakobs“?
BSB
BSB:
But concerning the dead rising, have you not read about the burning bush in the Book of Moses, how God told him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?
27
ISL316
Hann er ekki Guð hinna dauðu, heldur Guð hinna lifandi. Það er þetta sem þið eruð að misskilja.“
BSB
BSB:
He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken!”
28
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
Now one of the scribes had come up and heard their debate. Noticing how well Jesus had answered them, he asked Him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?”
29
ISL316
„Mikilvægasta boðorðið,“ svaraði Jesús, „er „Heyr, ó Ísrael: Enginn er Guð nema Drottinn Guð“,
BSB
BSB:
Jesus replied,
“This is the most important: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One.
30
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
31
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”
32
ISL316
„Þetta er alveg rétt hjá þér, kennari,“ sagði lögmálskennarinn. „Það er bara einn Guð, og enginn Guð nema hann,
BSB
BSB:
“Right, Teacher,” the scribe replied. “You have stated correctly that God is One and there is no other but Him,
33
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
and to love Him with all your heart and with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself. This is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
34
ISL316
Jesús sá að maðurinn hafði skilið það sem hann var að segja. „Þú ert ekki langt frá konungsríki Guðs,“ sagði hann. Og eftir þetta þorði enginn að spyrja hann fleiri spurninga.
BSB
BSB:
When Jesus saw that the man had answered wisely, He said,
“You are not far from the kingdom of God.”
And no one dared to question Him any further.
35
ISL316
Stuttu seinna var Jesús að kenna í musterinu. „Hvernig geta lögmálskennararnir sagt að Kristur sé sonur Davíðs?“ sagði hann.
BSB
BSB:
While Jesus was teaching in the temple courts, He asked,
“How can the scribes say that the Christ is the Son of David?
36
ISL316
„Með hjálp Heilags anda sagði Davíð: „Drottinn sagði við Drottin minn: Sittu hjá mér á meðan ég legg undir þig alla óvini þína“.
BSB
BSB:
Speaking by the Holy Spirit, David himself declared: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand until I put Your enemies under Your feet.”’
37
ISL316
Davíð kallar hann þarna „Drottin“ – hvernig getur hann þá verið sonur hans?“ Og fólkið hlustaði á orð hans, alveg heillað.
BSB
BSB:
David himself calls Him ‘Lord.’ So how can He be David’s son?”
And the large crowd listened to Him with delight.
38
ISL316
„Passið ykkur á lögmálskennurunum,“ hélt hann áfram. „Þeir elska að ganga um markaðina í fínu fötunum sínum og láta fólk heilsa sér,
BSB
BSB:
In His teaching Jesus also said,
“Watch out for the scribes. They like to walk around in long robes, to receive greetings in the marketplaces,
39
ISL316
og að sitja í bestu sætunum í samkomuhúsunum og vera heiðursgestir í veislum.
BSB
BSB:
and to have the chief seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets.
40
ISL316
Þeir fara með langar bænir til að fela það hvernig þeir hrifsa til sín eigur fátækra – fyrir það verða þeir dæmdir harðlega.“
BSB
BSB:
They defraud widows of their houses, and for a show make lengthy prayers. These men will receive greater condemnation.”
41
ISL316
Jesús sat hjá fjársöfnunarkistunum og horfði á fólkið setja peninga í þær. Þeir ríkustu gáfu oft háar upphæðir.
BSB
BSB:
As Jesus was sitting opposite the treasury, He watched the crowd putting money into it. And many rich people put in large amounts.
42
ISL316
Fátæk ekkja kom að kistunum og setti í þær tvo smápeninga – mjög lága upphæð.
BSB
BSB:
Then one poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amounted to a small fraction of a denarius.
43
ISL316
Jesús kallaði lærisveina sína til sín. „Sjáið þessa fátæku ekkju,“ sagði hann við þá. „Enginn gaf meira en hún í fjársjóðskisturnar.
BSB
BSB:
Jesus called His disciples to Him and said,
“Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more than all the others into the treasury.
44
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
For they all contributed out of their surplus, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on.”
