1QUESTE son le mosse de' figliuoli d'Israele, che uscirono fuor del paese di Egitto, distinti per le loro schiere, sotto la condotta di Mosè e d'Aaronne;These are the journeys of the Israelites when they came out of the land of Egypt by their divisions under the leadership of Moses and Aaron.

2(Or Mosè scrisse le lor partite secondo ch'essi si mossero per lo comandamento del Signore); queste, dico, son le lor mosse, secondo le lor partite:At the LORD’s command, Moses recorded the stages of their journey. These are the stages listed by their starting points:

3Essi adunque si partirono di Rameses, nel primo mese, nel quintodecimo giorno del primo mese; i figliuoli d'Israele si partirono il giorno appresso la Pasqua, a mano alzata, alla vista di tutti gli Egizj,On the fifteenth day of the first month, on the day after the Passover, the Israelites set out from Rameses. They marched out defiantly in full view of all the Egyptians,

4mentre gli Egizj seppellivano quelli che il Signore avea percossi fra loro, che erano tutti i primogeniti. Or il Signore avea fatti giudicii sopra i lor dii.who were burying all their firstborn, whom the LORD had struck down among them; for the LORD had executed judgment against their gods.

5I figliuoli d'Israele adunque, partitisi di Rameses, si accamparono in Succot.The Israelites set out from Rameses and camped at Succoth.

6E, partitisi di Succot, si accamparono in Etam, ch'è nell'estremità del deserto.They set out from Succoth and camped at Etham, on the edge of the wilderness.

7E, partitisi di Etam, si rivolsero verso la foce di Hirot, ch' è dirincontro a Baal-sefon, e si accamparono dinanzi a Migdol.They set out from Etham and turned back to Pi-hahiroth, opposite Baal-zephon, and they camped near Migdol.

8Poi, partitisi d'innanzi a Hirot, passarono per mezzo il mare, traendo verso il deserto; e, andati tre giornate di cammino per lo deserto di Etam, si accamparono in Mara.They set out from Pi-hahiroth and crossed through the sea, into the wilderness, and they journeyed three days into the Wilderness of Etham and camped at Marah.

9E, partitisi di Mara, giunsero in Elim, ove erano dodici fonti d'acqua, e settanta palme; e si accamparono quivi.They set out from Marah and came to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped there.

10E, partitisi di Elim, si accamparono presso al mar rosso.They set out from Elim and camped by the Red Sea.

11E, partitisi dal mar rosso, si accamparono nel deserto di Sin.They set out from the Red Sea and camped in the Desert of Sin.

12E, partitisi dal deserto di Sin, si accamparono in Dofca.They set out from the Desert of Sin and camped at Dophkah.

13E, partitisi di Dofca, si accamparono in Alus.They set out from Dophkah and camped at Alush.

14E, partitisi di Alus, si accamparono in Refidim, ove non era acqua da bere per lo popolo.They set out from Alush and camped at Rephidim, where there was no water for the people to drink.

15E, partitisi di Refidim, si accamparono nel deserto di Sinai.They set out from Rephidim and camped in the Wilderness of Sinai.

37E, partitisi di Cades, si accamparono nel monte di Hor, nell'estremità del paese di Edom.They set out from Kadesh and camped at Mount Hor, on the outskirts of the land of Edom.

38E il sacerdote Aaronne salì in sul monte di Hor, per comandamento del Signore, e morì quivi nell'anno quarantesimo da che i figliuoli d'Israele furono usciti fuor del paese di Egitto, nel quinto mese, alle calendi.At the LORD’s command, Aaron the priest climbed Mount Hor and died there on the first day of the fifth month, in the fortieth year after the Israelites had come out of the land of Egypt.

39Or Aaronne era d'età di cenventitrè anni, quando egli morì nel monte di Hor.Aaron was 123 years old when he died on Mount Hor.

40Allora il Cananeo, re di Arad, che abitava verso il mezzodì, nel paese di Canaan, intese la venuta de' figliuoli di Israele.Now the Canaanite king of Arad, who lived in the Negev in the land of Canaan, heard that the Israelites were coming.

41Poi, partitisi dal monte di Hor, si accamparono in Salmona.And the Israelites set out from Mount Hor and camped at Zalmonah.

42E, partitisi di Salmona, si accamparono in Funon.They set out from Zalmonah and camped at Punon.

43E, partitisi di Funon, si accamparono in Obot.They set out from Punon and camped at Oboth.

44E, partitisi di Obot, si accamparono a' poggi di Abarim, a' confini di Moab.They set out from Oboth and camped at Iye-abarim on the border of Moab.

45E, partitisi da' Poggi, si accamparono in Dibon-Gad.They set out from Iyim and camped at Dibon-gad.

46E, partitisi di Dibon-Gad, si accamparono in Almon, verso Diblataim.They set out from Dibon-gad and camped at Almon-diblathaim.

47E, partitisi d'Almon, verso Diblataim, si accamparono nei monti di Abarim, dirimpetto a Nebo.They set out from Almon-diblathaim and camped in the mountains of Abarim facing Nebo.

48E, partitisi da' monti di Abarim, si accamparono nelle campagne di Moab, presso al Giordano di Gerico.They set out from the mountains of Abarim and camped on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho.

49E si accamparono presso al Giordano, da Betiesimot fino ad Abel-Sittim, nelle campagne di Moab.And there on the plains of Moab they camped by the Jordan, from Beth-jeshimoth to Abel-shittim.

50E il Signore parlò a Mosè nelle campagne di Moab, presso al Giordano di Gerico, dicendo:On the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho, the LORD said to Moses,

51Parla a' figliuoli d'Israele, e di' loro: Quando sarete passati il Giordano, e sarete entrati nel paese di Canaan,“Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When you cross the Jordan into the land of Canaan,

52cacciate d'innanzi a voi tutti gli abitanti del paese, e disfate tutte le loro immagini, e tutte le loro statue di getto, e distruggete tutti i loro alti luoghi.you must drive out before you all the inhabitants of the land, destroy all their carved images and cast idols, and demolish all their high places.

53E mettetevi in possession del paese, e abitate in esso; conciossiachè io vi abbia donato il paese, per possederlo.You are to take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given you the land to possess.

54E spartite la possessione del paese a sorte, secondo le vostre nazioni; a quelle che sono in maggior numero date maggior possessione, e minore a quelle che sono in minor numero; in qualunque luogo la sorte d'alcuna gli sarà scaduta quello sia suo; spartitevi la possessione del paese per le vostre tribù paterne.And you are to divide the land by lot according to your clans. Give a larger inheritance to a larger clan and a smaller inheritance to a smaller one. Whatever falls to each one by lot will be his. You will receive an inheritance according to the tribes of your fathers.

55E se voi non iscacciate d'innanzi a voi gli abitanti del paese, que' di loro che avrete lasciati di resto vi saranno stecchi agli occhi, e spine a' fianchi, e vi nimicheranno nel paese nel quale abiterete.But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land before you, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides; they will harass you in the land where you settle.

56E avverrà ch'io farò a voi, come io avea proposto di fare a loro.And then I will do to you what I had planned to do to them.”
