1. 1RIVRicordati, Eterno, di quello che ci è avvenuto! Guarda e vedi il nostro obbrobrio!BSBBSB: Remember, O LORD, what has happened to us. Look and see our disgrace!
2. 2RIVLa nostra eredità è passata a degli stranieri, le nostre case, a degli estranei.BSBBSB: Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers, our houses to foreigners.
3. 3RIVNoi siam diventati orfani, senza padre, le nostre madri son come vedove.BSBBSB: We have become fatherless orphans; our mothers are widows.
4. 4RIVNoi beviamo la nostr’acqua a prezzo di danaro, le nostre legna ci vengono a pagamento.BSBBSB: We must buy the water we drink; our wood comes at a price.
5. 5RIVCol collo carico noi siamo inseguiti, siamo spossati, non abbiamo requie.BSBBSB: We are closely pursued; we are weary and find no rest.
6. 6RIVAbbiam teso la mano verso l’Egitto e verso l’Assiria, per saziarci di pane.BSBBSB: We submitted to Egypt and Assyria to get enough bread.
7. 7RIVI nostri padri hanno peccato, e non sono più; e noi portiamo la pena delle loro iniquità.BSBBSB: Our fathers sinned and are no more, but we bear their punishment.
8. 8RIVDegli schiavi dominano su noi, e non v’è chi ci liberi dalle loro mani.BSBBSB: Slaves rule over us; there is no one to deliver us from their hands.
9. 9RIVNoi raccogliamo il nostro pane col rischio della nostra vita, affrontando la spada del deserto.BSBBSB: We get our bread at the risk of our lives because of the sword in the wilderness.
10. 10RIVLa nostra pelle brucia come un forno, per l’arsura della fame.BSBBSB: Our skin is as hot as an oven with fever from our hunger.
11. 11RIVEssi hanno disonorato le donne in Sion, le vergini nelle città di Giuda.BSBBSB: Women have been ravished in Zion, virgins in the cities of Judah.
12. 12RIVI capi sono stati impiccati dalle loro mani, la persona de’ vecchi non è stata rispettata.BSBBSB: Princes have been hung up by their hands; elders receive no respect.
13. 13RIVI giovani han portato le macine, i giovanetti han vacillato sotto il carico delle legna.BSBBSB: Young men toil at millstones; boys stagger under loads of wood.
14. 14RIVI vecchi hanno abbandonato la porta, i giovani la musica dei loro strumenti.BSBBSB: The elders have left the city gate; the young men have stopped their music.
15. 15RIVLa gioia de’ nostri cuori è cessata, le nostre danze son mutate in lutto.BSBBSB: Joy has left our hearts; our dancing has turned to mourning.
16. 16RIVLa corona ci è caduta dal capo; guai a noi, poiché abbiamo peccato!BSBBSB: The crown has fallen from our head. Woe to us, for we have sinned!
17. 17RIVPer questo langue il nostro cuore, per questo s’oscuran gli occhi nostri:BSBBSB: Because of this, our hearts are faint; because of these, our eyes grow dim—
18. 18RIVperché il monte di Sion è desolato, e vi passeggian le volpi.BSBBSB: because of Mount Zion, which lies desolate, patrolled by foxes.
19. 19RIVMa tu, o Eterno, regni in perpetuo; il tuo trono sussiste d’età in età.BSBBSB: You, O LORD, reign forever; Your throne endures from generation to generation.
20. 20RIVPerché ci dimenticheresti tu in perpetuo, e ci abbandoneresti per un lungo tempo?BSBBSB: Why have You forgotten us forever? Why have You forsaken us for so long?
21. 21RIVFacci tornare a te, o Eterno, e noi torneremo! Ridonaci de’ giorni come quelli d’un tempo!BSBBSB: Restore us to Yourself, O LORD, so we may return; renew our days as of old,
22. 22RIVChé, ora, tu ci hai veramente reietti, e ti sei grandemente adirato contro di noi!BSBBSB: unless You have utterly rejected us and remain angry with us beyond measure.
