1. 1JPNM主なる神は私にこのように示された。見よ、二番草が伸び始めたころ、主はいなごを造られた。それは王の刈り取りの後に生える二番草であった。BSBBSB: This is what the Lord GOD showed me: He was preparing swarms of locusts just after the king’s harvest, as the late spring crop was coming up.
2. 2JPNMいなごが地の草を食べ尽くした時、私は言った。「主なる神よ、どうかお赦しください。ヤコブはどうして立ち得るでしょう。彼は小さいのです。」BSBBSB: And when the locusts had eaten every green plant in the land, I said, “Lord GOD, please forgive! How will Jacob survive, since he is so small?”
3. 3JPNM主はこのことについて思い直された。「それは起こらない」と主は言われた。BSBBSB: So the LORD relented from this plan. “It will not happen,” He said.
4. 4JPNM主なる神は私にこのように示された。見よ、主なる神は火を呼び寄せ、裁きを行おうとされた。火は大いなる淵を干上がらせ、地をも焼き尽くそうとした。BSBBSB: This is what the Lord GOD showed me: The Lord GOD was calling for judgment by fire. It consumed the great deep and devoured the land.
5. 5JPNMそこで私は言った。「主なる神よ、どうかおやめください。ヤコブはどうして立ち得るでしょう。彼は小さいのです。」BSBBSB: Then I said, “Lord GOD, please stop! How will Jacob survive, since he is so small?”
6. 6JPNM主はこのことについて思い直された。「これも起こらない」と主なる神は言われた。BSBBSB: So the LORD relented from this plan. “It will not happen either,” said the Lord GOD.
7. 7JPNM主は私にこのように示された。見よ、主は下げ振りで築かれた城壁のそばに立ち、御手に下げ振りを持っておられた。BSBBSB: This is what He showed me: Behold, the Lord was standing by a wall true to plumb, with a plumb line in His hand.
8. 8JPNM主は私に言われた。「アモスよ、何が見えるか。」 私は答えた。「下げ振りです。」 すると主は言われた。「見よ、私は私の民イスラエルのただ中に下げ振りを置く。私はもう二度と彼らを見過ごさない。BSBBSB: “Amos, what do you see?” asked the LORD. “A plumb line,” I replied. “Behold,” said the Lord, “I am setting a plumb line among My people Israel; I will no longer spare them:
9. 9JPNMイサクの高き所は荒れ果て、イスラエルの聖所は廃墟となる。私は剣をもってヤロブアムの家に立ち向かう。」BSBBSB: The high places of Isaac will be deserted, and the sanctuaries of Israel will be laid waste; and I will rise up against the house of Jeroboam with My sword.”
10. 10JPNMその時、ベテルの祭司アマツヤはイスラエルの王ヤロブアムに使いを送り、こう言った。「アモスがイスラエルの家のただ中で、あなたに対して陰謀を企てています。この地は彼の語るすべての言葉に耐えられません。BSBBSB: Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent word to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, “Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel. The land cannot bear all his words,
11. 11JPNMアモスは、『ヤロブアムは剣で死に、イスラエルは必ずその地から捕らえ移される』と言っているからです。」BSBBSB: for this is what Amos has said: ‘Jeroboam will die by the sword, and Israel will surely go into exile, away from their homeland.’”
12. 12JPNMアマツヤはまたアモスに言った。「先見者よ、行け。ユダの地へ逃げ、そこでパンを食べ、そこで預言せよ。BSBBSB: And Amaziah said to Amos, “Go away, you seer! Flee to the land of Judah; earn your bread there and do your prophesying there.
13. 13JPNMしかし、ベテルではもう二度と預言するな。ここは王の聖所であり、王宮だからだ。」BSBBSB: But never prophesy at Bethel again, because it is the sanctuary of the king and the temple of the kingdom.”
14. 14JPNMするとアモスはアマツヤに答えた。「私は預言者でも、預言者の弟子でもなかった。私は家畜を飼う者で、いちじく桑を栽培していた。BSBBSB: “I was not a prophet,” Amos replied, “nor was I the son of a prophet; rather, I was a herdsman and a tender of sycamore-fig trees.
15. 15JPNMしかし主は、羊の群れを追っていた私を召し出し、『行って、私の民イスラエルに預言せよ』と言われた。BSBBSB: But the LORD took me from following the flock and said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to My people Israel.’
16. 16JPNMだから今、主の言葉を聞け。あなたは、『イスラエルに逆らって預言するな。イサクの家に対して語るな』と言っている。BSBBSB: Now, therefore, hear the word of the LORD. You say: ‘Do not prophesy against Israel; do not preach against the house of Isaac.’
17. 17JPNMそれゆえ主はこう言われる。『あなたの妻は町で娼婦となり、息子と娘は剣に倒れる。あなたの土地は測り縄で分けられ、あなた自身は汚れた地で死ぬ。イスラエルは必ずその地から捕らえ移される。』」BSBBSB: Therefore this is what the LORD says: ‘Your wife will become a prostitute in the city, and your sons and daughters will fall by the sword. Your land will be divided by a measuring line, and you yourself will die on pagan soil. And Israel will surely go into exile, away from their homeland.’”
