1ಸನ್ಮಾನ್ಯನಾದ ಥೆಯೊಫಿಲನೇ, ನಮ್ಮ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ನೆರವೇರಿರುವ ಘಟನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕ್ರಮವಾಗಿ ಬರೆಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅನೇಕರು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.Many have undertaken to compose an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us,

2ಪ್ರಾರಂಭದಿಂದಲೂ ಕಣ್ಣಾರೆ ಕಂಡು ಸುವಾರ್ತಾವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸಾರುತ್ತಿದ್ದವರು ನಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಆ ಘಟನೆಗಳನ್ನು,just as they were handed down to us by the initial eyewitnesses and servants of the word.

3ನಾನು ಅಮೂಲಾಗ್ರವಾಗಿ ವಿಚಾರಿಸಿದ ಅವೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನು ನಿನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಕ್ರಮಬದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಬರೆಯುವುದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದೆಂದು ನನಗೂ ತೋಚಿತು.Therefore, having carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus,

4ನಿನಗೆ ಉಪದೇಶಿಸಿರುವ ವಿಷಯಗಳು ಸತ್ಯವಾದವುಗಳೆಂದು ಇದರಿಂದ ನೀನು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾಗಿ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು.so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.

5ಯೂದಾಯದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಹೆರೋದನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಬೀಯನ ಯಾಜಕೀಯ ವರ್ಗಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿದ ಜಕರೀಯನೆಂಬ ಒಬ್ಬ ಯಾಜಕನಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯು ಆರೋನನ ವಂಶದವಳಾಗಿದ್ದಳು. ಆಕೆಯ ಹೆಸರು ಎಲಿಸಬೇತ್.In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah, and whose wife Elizabeth was a descendant of Aaron.

6ಅವರಿಬ್ಬರೂ ಕರ್ತನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನೂ, ನೇಮನಿಷ್ಠೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕೈಕೊಂಡು ತಪ್ಪಿಲ್ಲದೆ ನಡೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ದೇವರ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೀತಿವಂತರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.Both of them were righteous in the sight of God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and decrees of the Lord.

7ಆದರೆ ಎಲಿಸಬೇತಳು ಬಂಜೆಯಾದುದರಿಂದ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವರಿಬ್ಬರೂ ವಯೋವೃದ್ಧರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.But they had no children, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both well along in years.

8ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಜಕರೀಯನ ವರ್ಗದ ಸರದಿ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅವನು ದೇವರ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾಜಕಧರ್ಮವನ್ನು ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.One day while Zechariah’s division was on duty and he was serving as priest before God,

11ಕರ್ತನ ದೂತನು ಧೂಪಪೀಠದ ಬಲಗಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತುಕೊಂಡವನಾಗಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡನು.Just then an angel of the Lord appeared to Zechariah, standing at the right side of the altar of incense.

12ಜಕರೀಯನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ತತ್ತರಗೊಂಡು ಭಯಭ್ರಾಂತನಾದನು.When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and gripped with fear.

13ಆದರೆ ಆ ದೂತನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಜಕರೀಯನೇ, ಭಯಪಡಬೇಡ; ದೇವರು ನಿನ್ನ ವಿಜ್ಞಾಪನೆ ಕೇಳಿದ್ದಾನೆ; ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾದ ಎಲಿಸಬೇತಳು ನಿನಗೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆರುವಳು. ನೀನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಯೋಹಾನನೆಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಡಬೇಕು.But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John.

14ನಿನಗೆ ಸಂತೋಷವೂ ಉಲ್ಲಾಸವೂ ಉಂಟಾಗುವುದು; ಮತ್ತು ಅವನು ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಹುಜನರು ಸಂತೋಷಪಡುವರು.He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice at his birth,

15ಅವನು ಕರ್ತನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹಾಪುರುಷನಾಗಿರುವನು; ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನಾಗಲಿ, ಯಾವ ಮದ್ಯವನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ಕುಡಿಯಬಾರದು; ಅವನು ಹುಟ್ಟಿದಂದಿನಿಂದಲೇ ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮಭರಿತನಾಗಿರುವನು.for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He shall never take wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from his mother’s womb.

16ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ಅನೇಕರನ್ನು ಅವರ ದೇವರಾಗಿರುವ ಕರ್ತನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿಸುವನು.Many of the sons of Israel he will turn back to the Lord their God.

17ಅವನು ಎಲೀಯನ ಗುಣಶಕ್ತಿಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದವನಾಗಿ ಕರ್ತನ ಮುಂದೂತನಾಗಿ ಹೋಗುವನು. ತಂದೆಗಳ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಕಡೆಗೂ, ಅವಿಧೇಯರನ್ನು ನೀತಿವಂತರ ಜ್ಞಾನದ ಕಡೆಗೂ ತಿರುಗಿಸಿ, ಕರ್ತನಿಗಾಗಿ ಜನರನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧಪಡಿಸುವನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.And he will go on before the Lord in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

18ಜಕರೀಯನು ಆ ದೂತನಿಗೆ, “ಈ ಮಾತು ನೆರವೇರುವುದೆಂದು ನಾನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಾದರೂ ಹೇಗೆ? ನಾನು ಮುದುಕನು; ನನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಗೂ ಮುಪ್ಪಿನ ವಯಸ್ಸು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.“How can I be sure of this?” Zechariah asked the angel. “I am an old man, and my wife is well along in years.”

19ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಆ ದೂತನು, “ನಾನು ದೇವರ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಲ್ಲುವ ಗಬ್ರಿಯೇಲನು; ನಿನ್ನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ಈ ಶುಭವಾರ್ತೆಯನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನಾನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ.“I am Gabriel,” replied the angel. “I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news.

20ಇಗೋ, ಈ ನನ್ನ ಮಾತು ತಕ್ಕ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆರವೇರುವುದು; ಆದರೆ ನೀನು ಇದನ್ನು ನಂಬದೆಹೋದುದರಿಂದ ಅದೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸಂಭವಿಸುವ ದಿನದ ವರೆಗೂ ಮಾತನಾಡಲಾರದೆ ಮೂಕನಾಗಿರುವೆ” ಎಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.And now you will be silent and unable to speak until the day this comes to pass, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled at their proper time.”

21ಇತ್ತ ಜನರು ಜಕರೀಯನಿಗಾಗಿ ಕಾದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದು ಅವನು ದೇವಾಲಯದೊಳಗೆ ತಡಮಾಡಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯಪಟ್ಟರು.Meanwhile, the people were waiting for Zechariah and wondering why he took so long in the temple.

22ಅವನು ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅವರ ಕೂಡ ಏನೂ ಮಾತನಾಡಲಾರದೆ ಇರಲು ಅವರು, ಇವನಿಗೆ ದೇವಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಏನೋ ದಿವ್ಯ ದರ್ಶನವಾಗಿರಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡರು. ಜಕರೀಯನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕೈಸನ್ನೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಮೂಕನಾಗಿಯೇ ಇದ್ದನು.When he came out and was unable to speak to them, they realized he had seen a vision in the temple. He kept making signs to them but remained unable to speak.

23ಆತನ ಯಾಜಕವರ್ಗದ ಸೇವೆಯ ದಿನಗಳು ಮುಗಿದ ನಂತರ ಜಕರೀಯನು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋದನು.And when the days of his service were complete, he returned home.

24ಕೆಲವು ದಿನಗಳಾದ ನಂತರ ಅವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾದ ಎಲಿಸಬೇತಳು ಬಸುರಾಗಿ ಐದು ತಿಂಗಳು ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲೇ ಮರೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದಳು.After these days, his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and for five months remained in seclusion. She declared,

25“ಕರ್ತನು ಈ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಟಾಕ್ಷಿಸಿ, ನನಗೆ ಈ ರೀತಿಯಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿ, ಜನರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗಿದ್ದ ಅವಮಾನವನ್ನು ಪರಿಹರಿಸಿದ್ದಾನಲ್ಲಾ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಳು.“The Lord has done this for me. In these days He has shown me favor and taken away my disgrace among the people.”

26ಎಲಿಸಬೇತಳು ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿಯಾದ ಆರನೆಯ ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ದೇವರು ಗಬ್ರಿಯೇಲನೆಂಬ ತನ್ನ ದೂತನನ್ನು ಗಲಿಲಾಯ ಸೀಮೆಯ, ನಜರೇತೆಂಬ ಊರಿಗೆ, ಒಬ್ಬ ಕನ್ನಿಕೆಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು;In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to a town in Galilee called Nazareth,

27ಆ ಕನ್ನಿಕೆಯ ಹೆಸರು ಮರಿಯಳು; ಆಕೆಗೆ ದಾವೀದನ ಮನೆತನದ ಯೋಸೇಫನೆಂಬ ಪುರುಷನೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಿಶ್ಚಿತಾರ್ಥವಾಗಿತ್ತು.to a virgin pledged in marriage to a man named Joseph, who was of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary.

28ಆ ದೂತನು ಆಕೆಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು “ದೇವರ ದಯೆ ಹೊಂದಿದವಳೇ, ನಿನಗೆ ಶುಭವಾಗಲಿ ಕರ್ತನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದಾನೆ” ಅಂದನು.The angel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

29ಆಕೆಯು ಆ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ತಬ್ಬಿಬ್ಬಾಗಿ, ಇದೆಂಥ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದ ಎಂದು ಯೋಚನೆಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಳು.Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.

30ಆ ದೂತನು ಆಕೆಗೆ, “ಮರಿಯಳೇ, ಹೆದರಬೇಡ; ನಿನಗೆ ದೇವರ ಕೃಪೆ ದೊರಕಿದೆ.So the angel told her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

31ಇಗೋ, ನೀನು ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿಯಾಗಿ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆರುವಿ; ಆತನಿಗೆ ಯೇಸುವೆಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಡಬೇಕು.Behold, you will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus.

32ಆತನು ಮಹಾಪುರುಷನಾಗುವನು, ಪರಾತ್ಪರನಾದ ದೇವರ ಕುಮಾರನೆಂದು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುವನು; ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ದೇವರಾಗಿರುವ ಕರ್ತನು ಆತನ ಮೂಲಪಿತನಾದ ದಾವೀದನ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನವನ್ನು ಆತನಿಗೆ ಕೊಡುವನು.He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David,

33ಆತನು ಯಾಕೋಬನ ವಂಶವನ್ನು ಸದಾಕಾಲ ಆಳುವನು; ಆತನ ರಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಅಂತ್ಯವೇ ಇರದು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever. His kingdom will never end!”

34ಆಗ ಮರಿಯಳು ಆ ದೂತನಿಗೆ, “ಇದು ಹೇಗಾದೀತು? ನನಗೆ ಯಾವ ಪುರುಷನ ಸಂಸರ್ಗವೂ ಇಲ್ಲವಲ್ಲಾ” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದಳು.“How can this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”

35ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ದೂತನು, “ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮನು ನಿನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬರುವನು; ಪರಾತ್ಪರನಾದ ದೇವರ ಶಕ್ತಿಯು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಅವರಿಸುವುದು; ಆದುದರಿಂದ ನಿನಗೆ ಹುಟ್ಟುವ ಆ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಶಿಶು ದೇವರ ಮಗನೆನಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು.The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.

36ಇಗೋ, ನಿನ್ನ ಬಂಧುವಾದ ಎಲಿಸಬೇತಳಿದ್ದಾಳಲ್ಲಾ, ಆಕೆ ಸಹ ಮುಪ್ಪಿನವಳಾದರೂ ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾಳೆ; ಆಕೆಯ ಗರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಗಂಡು ಮಗುವಿದೆ; ಬಂಜೆಯೆನಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಆಕೆಗೆ ಈಗ ಆರನೆಯ ತಿಂಗಳು.Look, even Elizabeth your relative has conceived a son in her old age, and she who was called barren is in her sixth month.

37ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಅಸಾಧ್ಯವಾದದ್ದು ಯಾವುದೂ ಇಲ್ಲ” ಅಂದನು.For no word from God will ever fail.”

38ಆಗ ಮರಿಯಳು “ಇಗೋ, ನಾನು ಕರ್ತನ ದಾಸಿ; ನಿನ್ನ ಮಾತಿನಂತೆ ನನಗಾಗಲಿ” ಅಂದಳು. ಆ ಮೇಲೆ ಆ ದೂತನು ಆಕೆಯ ಬಳಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಟುಹೋದನು.“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it happen to me according to your word.” Then the angel left her.

39ಇದಾದ ನಂತರ ಮರಿಯಳು ಎದ್ದು ತ್ವರೆಯಾಗಿ ಯೆಹೂದದ ಮಲೆನಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಒಂದು ಊರಿಗೆ ಹೋದಳು.In those days Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judah,

40ಜಕರೀಯನ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಸೇರಿ ಎಲಿಸಬೇತಳಿಗೆ ವಂದಿಸಿದಳು.where she entered the home of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth.

41ಎಲಿಸಬೇತಳು ಮರಿಯಳ ವಂದನೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳುತ್ತಲೇ ಆಕೆಯ ಗರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಕೂಸು ಕುಣಿದಾಡಿತು ಮತ್ತು ಎಲಿಸಬೇತಳು ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮಭರಿತಳಾದಳು.When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

42ಆಗ ಆಕೆಯು ಮಹಾಧ್ವನಿಯಿಂದ ಕೂಗಿ, “ನೀನು ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರೊಳಗೆ ಧನ್ಯಳು, ಮತ್ತು ನಿನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟುವ ಕೂಸು ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದು.In a loud voice she exclaimed, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!

43ನನ್ನ ಕರ್ತನ ತಾಯಿಯು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬರುವಷ್ಟು ಸೌಭಾಗ್ಯ ನನಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲಿಂದಾಯಿತು?And why am I so honored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

44ಇಗೋ, ನಿನ್ನ ವಂದನೆಯು ನನ್ನ ಕಿವಿಗೆ ಬೀಳುತ್ತಲೇ ಕೂಸು ನನ್ನ ಗರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಲ್ಲಾಸದಿಂದ ಕುಣಿದಾಡಿತು.For as soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.

45ಕರ್ತನು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ಮಾತುಗಳು ನೆರವೇರುವವು ಅಂದಳು. ಇದನ್ನು ನಂಬಿದವಳಾದ ನೀನು ಧನ್ಯಳು.”Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord’s word to her will be fulfilled.”

46ಆಗ ಮರಿಯಳು, “ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವು ಕರ್ತನನ್ನು ಕೊಂಡಾಡುತ್ತದೆ,Then Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord,

47ನನ್ನ ಆತ್ಮವು ನನ್ನ ರಕ್ಷಕನಾದ ದೇವರಲ್ಲಿ ಉಲ್ಲಾಸಗೊಂಡಿದೆ.and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!

48ಆತನು ತನ್ನ ದಾಸಿಯ ದೀನಸ್ಥಿತಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯವಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಇಗೋ, ಇಂದಿನಿಂದ ತಲತಲಾಂತರದವರೆಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಧನ್ಯಳೆಂದು ಹೊಗಳುವರು,For He has looked with favor on the humble state of His servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed.

49ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಶಕ್ತನಾಗಿರುವಾತನು ನನಗೆ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಉಪಕಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ; ಆತನ ನಾಮವು ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧವಾದುದು.For the Mighty One has done great things for me. Holy is His name.

50ಆತನಲ್ಲಿ ಭಯಭಕ್ತಿಯುಳ್ಳವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಆತನ ದಯೆಯು ತಲತಲಾಂತರದ ವರೆಗೂ ಇರುವುದು.His mercy extends to those who fear Him, from generation to generation.

51ಆತನು ತನ್ನ ಭುಜಪರಾಕ್ರಮದಿಂದ ಸೊಕ್ಕಿದ ಮನಸ್ಸುಳ್ಳವರನ್ನು ಚದರಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ.He has performed mighty deeds with His arm; He has scattered those who are proud in the thoughts of their hearts.

52ಪ್ರಭುಗಳನ್ನು ಸಿಂಹಾಸನಗಳಿಂದ ಕೆಳಗೆ ದೊಬ್ಬಿ, ದೀನಸ್ಥಿತಿಯವರನ್ನು ಉನ್ನತಸ್ಥಿತಿಗೆ ತಂದಿದ್ದಾನೆ.He has brought down rulers from their thrones, but has exalted the humble.

53ಹಸಿದವರನ್ನು ಮೃಷ್ಟಾನ್ನದಿಂದ ತೃಪ್ತಿಪಡಿಸಿ, ಸಿರಿವಂತರನ್ನು ಬರಿಗೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ.He has filled the hungry with good things, but has sent the rich away empty.

54ಆತನು ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರಿಗೆ ವಾಗ್ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದಂತೆ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೂ ಅವನ ವಂಶದವರಿಗೂ ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ದಯೆ ತೋರಿಸಬೇಕೆಂಬುದನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು, ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲನಿಗೆ ನೆರವಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ” ಎಂದಳು.He has helped His servant Israel, remembering to be merciful,

56ಮರಿಯಳು ಸುಮಾರು ಮೂರು ತಿಂಗಳು ಎಲಿಸಬೇತಳ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಹೋದಳು.Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.

57ಹೆರಿಗೆಕಾಲ ಬಂದಾಗ ಎಲಿಸಬೇತಳು ಗಂಡು ಮಗುವನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತಳು.When the time came for Elizabeth to have her child, she gave birth to a son.

58ಆಕೆಯ ನೆರೆಹೊರೆಯವರೂ ಬಂಧುಬಾಂಧವರೂ ಆಕೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಕರ್ತನು ತನ್ನ ವಿಶೇಷ ದಯೆಯನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆಂಬುದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಆಕೆಯ ಸಂಗಡ ಸಂತೋಷಪಟ್ಟರು.Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown her great mercy, and they rejoiced with her.

59ಎಂಟನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಆ ಮಗುವಿಗೆ ಸುನ್ನತಿಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಬಂದು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಜಕರೀಯನೆಂದು ತಂದೆಯ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಇಡಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದರು.On the eighth day, when they came to circumcise the child, they were going to name him after his father Zechariah.

60ಈ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲಿಸಬೇತಳು “ಅದು ಬೇಡ, ಯೋಹಾನನೆಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಡಬೇಕು” ಅನ್ನಲು,But his mother replied, “No! He shall be called John.”

61ಅವರು, “ನಿನ್ನ ಬಂಧುಬಾಂಧವರಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಹೆಸರಿನವರು ಒಬ್ಬರಾದರೂ ಇಲ್ಲವಲ್ಲಾ” ಎಂದು ಆಕೆಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದರು.They said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who bears this name.”

62ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಏನು ಹೆಸರಿಡಬೇಕೆಂದಿರುತ್ತೀ ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಜಕರೀಯನಿಗೆ ಸನ್ನೆಮಾಡಿ ಕೇಳಿದರು.So they made signs to his father to find out what he wanted to name the child.

63ಅವನು ಒಂದು ಹಲಗೆಯನ್ನು ತರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು, “ಆತನ ಹೆಸರು ಯೋಹಾನನು” ಎಂದು ಬರೆದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯಪಟ್ಟರು.Zechariah asked for a tablet and wrote, “His name is John.” And they were all amazed.

64ಕೂಡಲೆ ಅವನ ಬಾಯಿ ತೆರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟು, ನಾಲಿಗೆ ಸಡಿಲವಾಯಿತು, ಅವನು ಮಾತನಾಡುವವನಾಗಿ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಕೊಂಡಾಡಿದನು.Immediately Zechariah’s mouth was opened and his tongue was released, and he began to speak, praising God.

65ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದ ನೆರೆಹೊರೆಯವರಿಗೆಲ್ಲಾ ಹೆದರಿಕೆಯುಂಟಾಯಿತು ಮತ್ತು ಈ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಯೂದಾಯದ ಮಲೆನಾಡಿನಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಮಾತನಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.All their neighbors were filled with awe, and people throughout the hill country of Judea were talking about these events.

66ಈ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ, “ಆಹಾ, ಈ ಕೂಸು ಎಂಥವನಾಗುವನೋ?” ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡರು, ಆದರೆ ಕರ್ತನ ಅಭಯ ಹಸ್ತವು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಇತ್ತು.And all who heard this wondered in their hearts and asked, “What then will this child become?” For the Lord’s hand was with him.

67ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಆ ಮಗುವಿನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಜಕರೀಯನು ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮಭರಿತನಾಗಿ ನುಡಿದ ಪ್ರವಾದನೆ ಏನೆಂದರೆ,Then his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied:

68“ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ದೇವರಾಗಿರುವ ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರವು; ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಜೆಯನ್ನು ಸಂಧಿಸಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಯನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ;“Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has visited and redeemed His people.

69ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ದಾವೀದನ ಮನೆತನದಲ್ಲಿ, ನಮಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಒಬ್ಬ ರಕ್ಷಣಾವೀರನನ್ನು ಎಬ್ಬಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ.He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of His servant David,

70ಆತನು ಪೂರ್ವಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ತನ್ನ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ತಾನು ಹೇಳಿದಂತೆಯೇ,as He spoke through His holy prophets, those of ages past,

71ನಮ್ಮ ವೈರಿಗಳಿಂದಲೂ, ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ದ್ವೇಷಿಸುವವರೆಲ್ಲರ ಕೈಯಿಂದಲೂ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ.salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us,

72ಆತನು ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರಿಗೆ ದಯೆಯನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುವುದರ ಮೂಲಕ ನಮ್ಮ ಮೂಲಪಿತೃವಾದ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಮಾಣಮಾಡಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ತನ್ನ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧವಾದ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ.to show mercy to our fathers and to remember His holy covenant,

74ಹೀಗೆ ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ವೈರಿಗಳ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಹೊಂದಿ ಭಯವಿಲ್ಲದವರಾಗಿದ್ದು, ನಮ್ಮ ಜೀವಮಾನದಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಿರ್ಮಲಚಿತ್ತದಿಂದಲೂ ನೀತಿಯಿಂದಲೂ ತನ್ನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇವೆಮಾಡುವಂತೆ ನಮಗೆ ಅನುಕೂಲಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ.deliverance from hostile hands, that we may serve Him without fear,

76ಮಗುವೇ, ನೀನಾದರೋ ಪರಾತ್ಪರನಾದ ದೇವರ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯೆನಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಿ. ನೀನು ಕರ್ತನ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಆತನ ಹಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡುವವನಾಗಿಯೂ,And you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for Him,

77ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರು ಅತ್ಯಂತಕರುಣೆಯಿಂದ ದಯಪಾಲಿಸುವ ಪಾಪಕ್ಷಮೆಯೆಂಬ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯ ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಆತನ ಪ್ರಜೆಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿಕೊಡುವವನಾಗಿಯೂ ಇರುವಿ. ಆ ಕರುಣೆಯಿಂದಲೇ ನಮಗೆ ಮೇಲಿನಿಂದ ಅರುಣೋದಯವು ಉಂಟಾಗಿ,to give to His people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins,

79ಅದು ಕತ್ತಲಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಮರಣಾಂಧಕಾರದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ವಾಸಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ನಮಗೆ ಬೆಳಕನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ನಮ್ಮ ಕಾಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಸಮಾಧಾನದ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರಿಸಿ ನಡಿಸುವುದು.”to shine on those who live in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”

80ಆ ಬಾಲಕನು ಬೆಳೆದು ಆತ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಲವುಳ್ಳವನಾದನು. ಮತ್ತು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಜನರಿಗೆ ತನ್ನನ್ನು ತೋರ್ಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ದಿನದವರೆಗೂ ಮರುಭೂಮಿಯ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದನು.And the child grew and became strong in spirit; and he lived in the wilderness until the time of his public appearance to Israel.
