And the LORD your God said, ‘You will shepherd My people Israel, and you will be ruler over them.’”

8. 6KJVAnd David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. So Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up, and was chief.BSBBSB: Now David had said, “Whoever is the first to strike down a Jebusite will become chief commander.” And Joab son of Zeruiah went up first, and he became the chief.
9. 7KJVAnd David dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the city of David.BSBBSB: So David took up residence in the fortress; that is why it was called the City of David.
10. 8KJVAnd he built the city round about, even from Millo round about: and Joab repaired the rest of the city.BSBBSB: He built up the city around it, from the supporting terraces to the surrounding wall, while Joab restored the rest of the city.

But he refused to drink it; instead, he poured it out to the LORD,
22. 19KJVAnd said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with the jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mightiest.BSBBSB: saying, “Far be it from me, my God, to do this!
